Theoretically a warrior can get perma protection with a boon duration build.

Just saying….

Where? How?

I dont make videos.
But to get perma protection with a boon duration build, you would need to have weakness on you to convert into protection, everytime your traited warhorn skills are off cooldown.

Considering I’ve gotten a quarter of a stack just from orrian jewelry boxes, I don’t see that as too difficult. A couple Fractal runs per day, some champ farming for about n hour, then doing core promotion, should result in getting pretty close over the course of a month.

@Nike: It’s been a long time since charged lodestones have been over double the price of silver doubloons. Each doubloon is about 70% of the charged lodestone price right now (and over 100% of the price for any other lodestone).

And how long did it take you to farm the karma for enough orrian boxes to get 63 charged lodestones?

So why can we still not put superior sigils and runes in the mystic forge? I understand that them being the highest tier, it would be silly to try to put them in to make a higher one, but since the forge rarely does that for them anyway (upgrading via forge with runes/sigils is incredibly unreliable and low chance of success) surely they could allow for throwing some in for a chance at a different flavor of rune/sigil. Just my 2 cents. I’m honestly sick of how unreliable the forge is in the first place and would rather it not be in the game at all, but since we’re stuck with it might as well get some more (potential) usefulness out of it.

You could do that for about a month after release, then they changed it.
Its good how it is, you are probably angry because you bought a bunch of cheap superior runes and sigils with the intend to put them into the mystic forge in order to get an expensive one back.

You also have a 20% chance to upgrade tiers in the mf, if you put upgrade components or gear in it, i dont think thats a low chance.

@vol I get the first 3 on the list (as I’ve been trying to hit up lodestons/cores a lot) but copper doubloons? What’s the rational there?

Speculation about Anet introducing a mf recipe to promote copper doubloons to silver doubloons.

I bought some stacks as well but i doubt they will introduce this anytime soon.
Silver Doubloons got revised and changed after Magic Find got eliminated from gear, so my guess would be that they are working as intended.

Farming grind: orichalcum and ancients

in Crafting

Posted by: Wanze.8410

Wanze.8410

If you think t6 wood is a grind then you probably haven’t bothered trying to get the t2 wood yet.

Sitting in collections right now …
19 soft wood logs
17 soft wood planks

238 ancient logs
51 ancient planks

Sure there were some slightly tight situations when I was trying to get to 500 but once that is done just salvaging has been keeping up. I haven’t even bothered to really go get them anymore; I used to go get the ones in CS/ML/FS when I did the Melandru/Dwayna/Claw events. If they were nearby (with in map range of the events) then I’ll still get them, maybe.

So the point is that they aren’t needed in the long term. Adding more now will just increase the chance of needing to fix a situation of having too many around in the future.

I guess if someone was worried about job security this might be something to do. :P

The reason you have more ancient wood than soft wood is your playing style. Because you get most of your wood from salvaging blues/greens and those drops are mostly lvl 80s for you. If you would go out and harvest soft wood in low level areas, you would yield way more per hour than going out and harvest ancient wood.
You also might be surprised, if you put in buy orders for weapons from the lvl range that gives you soft wood (and iron ore) back when you salvage it, that you can actually make a profit because the salvaged mats are more expensive than the buy orders of the weapons.
And you get free essences of luck along the way.

Rock on.

Whats wrong with making statements on the forums in order to raise your profits?
Every day multiple topics are created on the forums about items that are in high demand and people dont want to pay the high prices on TP, telling Anet to adjust the supply of those items, effectively marketing to devalue such items.

Be it rich ori or ancient wood nodes, cloth nodes in anticipation of ascended armor crafting, Lodestones or Silver Doubloons.

Let me think… since I built an Infinite light for my main I have a pretty dang good idea what it takes to gather 250 charged lodestones… the people interested in making Juggernaut are feeling oppressed that they have to gather 250 of a rare item that costs less than half as much as a charged lodestone and drops from bags and jump puzzles.

Try farming Air Elementals in Orr for 2-3 months. I think you’ll find farming the appropriate bags for silver doubloons WAY more rewarding…

while I play my level 80 and not even try to farm charged lodestones I often find myself getting them alot. If it’s not a lodestone, you’ll get a core, which can be upgrade. while you still get easy gold you sitll have the possibilty to get that item. If you want silverdoubloons, you either have to farm your gold to buy them on tp, play the tp or level an alt and open jp chest on lvl 20-30, while rarely getting a silverdoubloon + getting 0 reward items. now…oh wait.

Thats alot of ways to get Silver Doubloons and you even missed some.
I could get myself a stack of silver doubloons with only using my lvl 80 within a month without buying them directly from the TP.

Try to get a stack of Charged Lodestones in a month without buying directly.

Just make your own guild, buy some influence with gold and research guild storage.

IIRC, it takes a little over a week to research and costs under 3g to buy the influence needed for 50 slots of extra storage.

Even though you cant deposit account or soulbound items in there, you wont need to pay the ~30g you need to get 600 gems for 30 more slots of private bank space.

Thats why you never follow or ask advice on the forum on short term investment opportunities.

Only mindless people would have bought silk in order to promote it for quick coin.
But those mindless people riding the champ train and complaining about their stacks of Bloodstone Dust in their banks have too much Skill Points anyways to waste.

You are also not providing information but a wild guess, which should always be free of charge.

That i used Light Bags of Booty, i already said in an earlier post. Good luck by the way, getting one of those from a Jetsam Pirate in Lornars Pass or a Bloody Buccaneer in Bloodtide Coast.

More like an educated guess. If I were truly guessing wildly, I’d just have said Tier 2/3 loot bags.

Also, the best place to farm Light Bags of Booty are from the pirates in Brigantine Isles in Gendarran Fields. The pirates in Lornar’s Pass tend to drop Small Bags of Booty (T3), and I wouldn’t even bother with the ones in Bloodtide Coast as they’re too high level.

The dredge in Gendarran Fields are also a good target for the Light Miner’s Bags, although the dredge in Underburg in Lornar’s Pass would be a better target if you’re after those, since they spawn in much higher density there.

OK, here is your wild guess:

He may also have possibly been buying Bags of Pinched Goods/Bags of Purloined Goods, which drop from Bandits, or Light Bags of Skritt Shinies (from Skritt, obviously) although I cannot confirm that Silver Doubloons drop from those.

Neither of those bags you mentioned drops Silver Doubloons, Pinched Goods only drop t1 mats, Purloined Goods only drop t3. LB of Skritt Shinies drop t2 mats but Silverdoubloons arent on the loot table.

The only right information that you provided is, that you cannot confirm that Silver Doubloons drop from those. I bet that helped other people out alot.

Also, if you think the best place to farm Light Bags of Booty are pirates at Brigantine Isles, go ahead. Let me know how much you get per hour.

How much profit you make overall per hour farming those? 2-3g?

Why not farm something else that yields 10g per hour, then use those 10g to buy 4 stacks of lootbags from the TP from people who dont see the real value of the mats inside them?

Nothing beats the spawn and kill rate btw of Aetherblade Pirates during an Invasion in a low level area.

First of all, i dont think they are popular as you think because supply is higher than demand. The main supply for this Sigil also doesnt come from crafting but from the mystic forge. That explains the relative low TP price compared to the crafting costs of ~1g. The price on the TP took a further dip after ascended crafting came along and the introduction of Essence of Luck. That resulted in alot of salvaged weapons supplying the market with a high influx of sigils and dumping sigil (and rune) prices across the board.

The bolts just adjust to the higher scrap prices slower and right now, scraps are more valuable than just 50% of the bolt price because for the fact that you will get craft exp for refining it.

Usually refined common mats are worth a little more than 200% (300% for planks, 400% for soft planks) of their unrefined mats because they occupy less storage space and it takes time to craft them.

The price for gossamer bolts will level out to that equilibrium eventually, at the latest, when all the scraps are refined into bolts, once ascended armor crafting came around and people start to need more bolts for crafting.

Wanze.8410

The Salvage-O-Matic and the permanent tools dont have the potential to save you alot of gold in the long run, though. It will take years for any player to get any ROI out of them.

Nourishment Buffs can easily cost around 10 silver/hour to be active and therefore would present an opportunity to save alot of gold, once your initial ROI of your item is received.

So this is a bad idea, unless you keep the gold price of each activation of the unlimited buff nearly as high as the usual price.

For Potions of “X”-Slaying this would be easily achieveable by requiring you to fuel the unlimited nourishment item with 1 corresponding dungeon token but its hard to find a decent price to charge for oils/crystals/sharpening stones.

So. OP, assuming they would release an item that provides a buff against the 8 different dungeon mobs and it would need 1 corresponding dungeon token to activate, would you still buy the item for QoL for 800-1000 gems?

I wouldnt.

well, as ive said, it doesnt exist yet so what im saying is just an idea. (btw there are many factors for the unlimited gathering+salvage tools that help save you money, not just the fact that they’re unlimited) I did the math and i have made my money back in the tools already and then some. the salvage kit however is far from making money off of, but in a few months i will have made money back.
back to square one tho, when i threw out a random gem number, to be completely honest i would pay more than 1600 gems for one buff. id be happy throwing in 2000 gems. the QoL is worth it to me. (what else would i spend in game money on? ;P ) but that is all preference.
I see no inherent P2W reason NOT to do this.
As for the dungeon thing, No. the nourishments and dungeon buffs give totally different effects. There are some nourishments that are great such as the rare veggie pizza, or life steal on crit. they are much much much better than +10% extra dmg to ‘x’ dungeon mob, -10% dmg from ‘x’ dungeon mob.
An initial gold price for activating it could definately work, just as the salvage kit acts.

Good idea i just thought of on top of yours- you must pay ‘x’ amount of silver to activate the buff, lose it when you die. Have an option to set on to where the nourishment automatically takes ‘x’ amount of silver away when you waypoint or get revived from death and then you gain the nourishment back, or you can do it manually. the option should be there though.

PS- loving the feedback, maybe we can work something out that fits all the standards it needs.

Oh, so you also want food buffs to be included?

I totally disagree with that because it would crash the cooking craft.

It could work though, if you have to feed the item with the corresponding nourishment items beforehand.

Make it a refridgerator for example with 10, 50 or 100 slots capacity and you can drag food items into it from your inventory.

That way, it becomes a QoL item because you save inventory space while the nourishment still needs to be crafted beforehand, therefore it wouldnt mess up the economy for those items.

lol

The average amount you will get is 17 Ori, so do the math yourself. It always boils down to the question on how much you value your skill points. With some crafted items which use items aquired with skillpoints in their recipes, you can make up to 75 silver per skill point.

Also, dont promote ore but ingots. It has the same yield but you cut your dust usage by 50%.

Silver Doubloons - is this for real?

Wanze.8410

Well, increasing the supply will devalue silver doubloons so thats what you are asking for. You are just complaining that an item that you need increases in demand and ask Anet to adjust supply to rig the market in your favour.

Its also not sellers that increase the price of an item but the buyers that pay the increased price for it and i never bought any silver doubloons.

What would you see as a decent price for them? 70 silver?

That was about their price a couple of months back when i got them for my Juggernaut and I didnt see anybody complain about the prices then.

Now they rose about 100% in price and this is too much for you to pay on the TP for them.

When i got my stack, i had no complaints about using my gold for buying them for 70 silver because i farmed the 175 gold within a few days.

Now people are willing to pay 1.3-1.5g for them but guess what?
Silver Doubloons are still available on the TP for at least half the price. Not directly but by buying and opening a bunch of lootbags or throwing pebbles into the mystic forge that you just salvaged off some trinkets that are available for 1 copper over merchant value in the thousands.

A month ago i spent over 150g within a week on lootbags and was able to sell the mats that i got beside my 89 doubloons for over 400g.

If Anet would now announce that you get 1 guaranteed silver doubloon and 3 Gold from every JP Chest, i guess you would be pretty stoked and complete 10 JPs per day, spending about an hour each. Within 9-10 days you would have the same amount of silver doubloons and profit that i got while spending an hour per day for a week and say: GG Anet.

These are way easier to farm than Charged Lodestones.

First, completely and utterly wrong! I’ve been farming these faster than silver doubloons since the game came out. Wanze, please add something constructive to forum posts for once. We don’t need to know what your farming or how much you’ve spent doing so, or how you do “research” and then don’t share it with the rest of us so you can keep making your money. None of it provides a valid argument of why silver doubloon prices are so high or why there are so little.

Second, this conversation has been going on here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/crafting/Silver-Doubloons-is-this-for-real/page/2#post2929107

This is bad but those who need the gold will fight for the high prices. Silver doubloons are just one of those things either overlooked or ignored by Anet and will continue to be so until more people say something against the price of them than for the price of them. Good luck and good hunting!

Well, i got more 300 doubloons out of lootbags while making profits off the high prices in the last month, so for me doubloons are easier to get than lodestones, i guess this always depends on your playing style.

I also dont see how moaning about high prices of a specific item on the forums is constructive.
You are posting here on the forums in order to de-value Silver Doubloons because you need some. Shouldnt other people be allowed to post on the forums in order to increase the value of Silver Doubloons because the want to sell them?
As long as these topics keep popping up on the forums, prices will rise because you draw the attention to speculators.

Thats fine with me because i dont need to do brainless zerg fests anymore or whatever people do these days to make a mediocre 10g/hour.
I leave that to other people who will give me their gold via the trading post.

If you find that unfair and disagree with that, dont blame me for that.

I just play the game the way I want.

Exotic items: sell or salvage

Right now, most of the exotic weapons are very cheap because there is an oversupply of crafted ones from everybody leveling his crafts to 500.
If you are talking about crafted exotics, 1g value is a good decider, especially, if you still need dark matter.
If you are talking about other exotics, make sure to check the sigil, which is on the weapon, sometimes they are worth more than 50-100s. Then it would definately make more sense to salvage them because with the value of the sigil, plus the ectos and ori/wood you get, you might get more money back than selling it directly for 1.1g for example.

You have an option to trade which is the BLTC. The fees and taxes for selling on it are used for a gold sink to counter inflation and are vita lto the economy.

If you want to trade directly via mail, you do so at your own risk. As you said, its pretty easy to scam players that way and you wont get any support from Anet in that case.

Trading via mail does not breach the EULA but you are not allowed to use this forum to advertise your deals.

Be warned though that mailing big amounts of gold in game could result in a ban because it looks like you are selling gold.
I would just do trades per mail with guild members and use the guild bank to transfer the gold.

If you pay 200g, you are doing something wrong.

You propably follow a mediocre guide on the internet that everybody else uses and dont gather stuff yourself.

The 200g figure also doesnt subtract the money you get back from selling the stuff you crafted.

If you know what you are doing and know the market, you can even make a profit while leveling from 400 to 500.

Pretty sure it is utterly impossible to make a profit.

After taking in to account the cost of mats (which you should be doing) I also can’t see making much of a profit if any. Sure, selling crafted exotics would be pure profit if you gathered all the mats yourself, but so would selling those mats as well.

I wont give you a full guide on how to make profit while lvling to 500 because thats for me to know and you to find out. After all, i make my gold selling my mats and items that i aquired cheaply to people like you, that just dont know better, at a premium.
No offense intended.

I give you one example:

Yesterday i crafted and sold a Sentinel Rifle for nearly 14g, so 11.9g revenue after fees and taxes.

Crafting cost as of now:

Sentinel Inscription – 6.85g on buy order
Ori Rifle Barrel – 15 silver on buy order
Ancient Rifle Stock – 60 silver on buy order

11.9-6.85-0.15-0.6= 4.3g pure profit

Thats a Return of Investment of 60% and with a crafting booster active, you just gained 2 crafting levels, earning 2g per craft lvl.
Screenshot of my sale a day ago is attached.

Nevermind that i bought over 50 sentinel inscriptions for 2-3g each right after the patch when everybody panic sold his stocks because they became available from the commendations vendor, so my profits where actually doubled from this example.

Still not convinced?

Try putting in buy orders for fine darksteel weapons and salvage them. You will get 1-3 platinum ore or hard wood logs per salvage. This way i got the mats for my deldrimor ingots and spiritwood planks for 50% of the current TP value. I just salvaged until i had double the amount i needed and sold my excess on the tp to you guys to cover my initial investment costs. No pure profit here, unless i would salvage more than double the amount that i need for myself but lots of essences of luck along the way for free.

The same method applies to the lower tier ore and wood you need.

As i said, you have to know the market in order to make a profit and you still need 50-100g for buy orders to get started but in the end, its possible to end up with more gold than you started with. And a good bump in account mf.

You are welcome.

Makin profit from exotics you craft while levling is invalid, becouse you most probably NEED them to salvage for ascended mats. You will probably use all exotics you crafted. Week ago i salvaged 10 exotics and got 0 globs….

I just used my profits from selling my crafted exotics to buy cheap Settler Trinkets for ~80 silver on buy order. The ectos and Exquisite Passion Flower would sell for even more than the 80 silver, again giving profit while getting dark matter.

Well, good luck then on getting Anet to rename that title.

They may as well call it Grandmaster Goldspender, because it’s gonna cost a very pretty penny to get 500 in all 8 crafts.

I made profit leveling my 3 weaponcrafting professions from 400-500.
I also already got all the mats now while they are cheap, to level the armor professions and jeweling from 400-500.

Be glad you don’t need charged lodestones since you can’t MF them with a recipe or get them outta something like light bags. Was even worse when I made Sunrise cause they were about 4g each. they have come down a ton now and are only like 1.25g each. My advice is keep grinding and buying them. About all you can do. And honestly if you are a legendary seeker, then you need to be a gold farmer at least until you get it done or if you don’t mind it taking a year to finish.

Charged Lodestones can be made in the MF by promoting charged cores.
They also drop from bags, Heavy Loot Bags for example.

Are Divinity runes still good for warrior?

If you wanna go pure damage, you might want to check out Ruby Orbs, which you can also put on armor, not as much power as scholar runes but more crit damage and precision on them. And at 9s each quite cheap compared to 3g for a scholar rune.

For wvw the most commonly used runes are melandru and lyssa for condition negation/removal for roaming or soldier runes with a shout heal build when you run with a group.

Lackluster New Content

IDK how you could call the teq revamp underwhelming OP. It’s some of the best content in this game. I wish MORE of the fights had multiple tatics/phases required in them like the teq fight (I also love lupi because of this kinda stuff).

The go and click on X teeth etc. part was stupid and just kinda tacked on there to make it a living story kinda thing though (seriously stop doing this skilless kinda junk a-net). But who cares, the teq fight is awesome.

This time around we’re getting a new dung. You havn’t even seen it. Wait until you’ve done it.

I would call this underwhelming. Day #2 of the new Tequatl encounter on my realm:

I love the time on the minimap ;p 4 am…
Nice.

Lol-ed.

Just because a server can’t muster the numbers to even cap a single map doesn’t mean it’s bad content. I’m sure the 4am part had something to do with that though :P

That would be a wednesday as well.

Still able to craft celestial armor?

in Crafting

Posted by: Wanze.8410

Wanze.8410

First you need the recipes for it, which are still available on the tp.
Keep in mind that you not only need the recipe for the insignia but also for each armor piece.

Then you need Quartz Crystals, 125 for each armor piece.
If you dont have any and didnt finish the meta achievement during the event (which spawns a daily harvest node for quartz in the home instances) you cant harvest them right now, so again, you need to get those from the TP.
So for one full set, you need 750 quartz crystals.
Then you need to make Charged Quartz Crystals by charging 25 regular crystals at a skill point (best spot is the one South of Divinity´s Reach).
That can be done only once a day because it is time gated, meaning you need 30 days to craft a full celestial set becasue each piece requires 5 charged crystals for the insignia.

Celestial inscriptions for weapons also require 5 charged crystals, Exquisite Jewels to slap on your Trinkets cost only 1 charged crystal.

Perplexity Engies, Um Hello Devs?

in WvW

Posted by: Wanze.8410

Wanze.8410

No I lost to twice the amount of players from a “respected” guild who mostly used these as a crutch.

The same way VCY stacked guardians and 2 min retal in the previous meta. Skillful play or just kittens I let others decide.

Twice the amount of you is 2 players, so someone of our guild used perplexity runes and you lost a 1v2. Stop moaning.

We dont even run Engies during guild raids or gvgs and I am the only warrior that has a set of those runes and i only use them occasionally during roaming, maybe 5% of my time in wvw.

Suggesting here that 50% of VcY are running these runes is simply false.
How do you even know that half of our people are using perplexity runes in a guild raid with 20-30 members?

That would mean that each of those 10-15 has to interrupt you once to proof your claim without you dying while getting no skills off for 20 seconds.

At least have the decency and show your guild tag here on the forums when you start flaming other guilds because you are a sore loser.

P.S.: Last time i checked, stripping 2 min of retaliation took the same effort as stripping 5s of retaliation off someone.

Btw I played in a better guild with better players than VCY. But you lot in your FOTM copied builds made me stop playing last night as you are no fun to fight and I would never use the world better, just the word sadder.

Which guild was that and why dont you play in it anymore?
And how do you know the builds of 150+ members?

Im glad we made you stop playing though.
