Whatever is gained through the gem store by RNG, favours gem purchases with cash, as soon as they make it tradable on the TP, they have to deal with a surplus of unwanted supply making these items less desirable and devaluating their product.

Gem store items that are obtainable at a fixed price, like mini packs for example, are useless on the TP because they have a fixed rate of gold through the gold->gem conversion.

Why?

Just because you have tons of one item doesnt mean you are entitled to convert it into an item you need.

Its possible to lvl weaponsmithing from 400-500 without using Orichalcum but only using t5 mats.

I tested it myself 2 weeks ago just to prove a point that you dont need to forge a single exotic weapon to get to 500.

That being said, it is not the cheapest way to get to 500 because usually the resale profit of sentinel or sentinel destroyer weapons is just too big to ignore.

Small and Light Miners Bag, Bag of Pilfered Goods and Light Bags of Booty all drop silver doubloons and drop from Dredge, Bandits, Seperatists and Pirates lvl 20-30.

Perfectly farmable by a lvl 80 character.

They only drop if the level of the character farming them is level 20-30. Usually if you get something from these bags a lot of times it will either just contain crafting material of a low grade (not doubloons), or a piece of blue or green level 80 gear…. Cleared an entire map on my level 80 just to test it and killed nothing but the 20-30 mobs absolutely no doubloons ever and it was about 7-8 hours of nothing but pve.

Silver Doubloons are not on the loot table directly from any mob in game, no matter what level.

You have to farm the appropriate lootbags (that have SD on the loot table), that drop from those mobs.

That being said, its easier and faster to just put in buy orders on the tp at the appropriate prices for those lootbags from people who dont know their respective value.

I agree, but keep in mind when they “turn on” this recipe, Copper Doubloon prices will SKYROCKET (at least until Silver Doubloon prices reach a normal level).

As I bought plenty stacks of copper doubloons, hoping that Anet will implement this, I wouldnt mind this.

But common sense tells me, that this isnt a good solution because i dont see Copper Doubloons being any more obtainable than Silver Doubloons for lvl 80 characters.
Granted, they drop more often from the mf and from bags but thats it.

If Anet would implement the promotion of copper to silver doubloons, it would be a short term fix, improving the price of copper doubloons and easing the price of silver doubloons.

I made quite some money on silver doubloons myself but i think its time for Anet to react on this. I am mostly annoyed that every couple of days a new topic concerning them pops up, as the OP stated.

I reported several topics in order to merge them and nothing happened, right now the top 2 topics in the crafting forum are concerned with SD and both have around of 50 replies and 1500 views.

From personal experience, i can tell you that opening loot bags that contain Silver Doubloons is the cheapest way to get them. And dont go about in a lvl 20-30 zone to farm the bags, just buy them off the TP.

In order to buy the right loot bags at the right buy order price, you need experience and knowledge of the market. Because its not about the drop rate of SD of the various bags, its about the value of all the other stuff you get to get a proper return of investment.

For clarification, within the last 3 months, i opened over 100k lootbags of various kinds and kept spreadsheets.

On the official Wiki there are drop rate researches for nearly every loot bag but for most of them, the sample size is very low and my personal one is way higher.

From those 100k lootbags i opened, about 65% had silver doubloons on their loot table.
When i went for it, i wanted all the other stuff i get from them to cover my initial costs and the SD to be my profit.

This of course takes alot of knowledge of the prices of the other items on the loot table and they change alot.

To give you one example:

When the Scarlet Invasions happened every hour and they happened to be in a lvl 20-30 zone, the aetherblade pirates dropped light bags of booty.

I got them for 60-70c on buy order, thousands every day.
The kicker was that at that time t2 fine crafting mats, which were the main drop from those bags, where valued between 2-4s.

I basically made more than 1s profit for double.clicking a lootbag and got dozens of SD to sell every day.

I still occasionally buy stacks of lootbags, as soon as my spreadsheets tell me that the regular drops value surpasses the buy order price of the lootbag by a certain margin but in the end, i wouldnt mind Anet to introduce a solution to this problem alot of players seem to have.

I dont really like LA either.

Usually i am in a City to use the TP, the crafting stations and the Mystic Forge.
LA is usually too crowded and sometimes map chat can get annoying.
Most of the time, if I dont need the mystic forge, i exile to Ebonhawke where the TP, Bank and guild bank are so close together, that you can have all 3 of them open at once and the crafting stations are closer to these nps than in Rata Sum.

I really miss the Royal Terrace in Divnity´s Reach. I dont really know, why Anet took the Pass off the Gem Store.

I would have been happy to fork out the gems every two weeks to go there and avoid LA.

If it was account bound, you wouldnt be able to level your alts via crafting.

Why dont you tell them what exactly you dont like and how you think it would be better?

Dire Armor is not craftable yet but it will propably be introduced with ascended armor crafting.

If you dont want to wait that long, the CoE dungeon vendors offer exotic armor with dire stats and there are named armor sets on the tp that offer dire stats as well.

Their names are:
Jatoro’s – Light Armor
Errol’s – Medium
Yakkington’s – Heavy

Also, last years Halloween Armor set had mf on it, so now you can chose your stats on them. Maybe you still have that armor set from the meta achievement last year in your bank.

Not sure, which stats are on this years armor, might be worth checking out.

This is my first time trying to make an ascended backpiece, and I’ve realized that it is extremely expensive, just for +50 stats or so.

The quiver needs 250 Vials of powerful blood, which turns out to be a LOT of gold.
Does anyone know if it is cheaper to actually try to upgrade the lower tier blood vials into 250 of the powerful? I’ve never really learned a lot about upgrading mats, but have done it once or twice just to make a profit..

There is not much profit upgrading t5 to t6 mats. It will be a littler cheaper in the end but you dont get much return of interest for each skillpoint you use.
But if you make the quiver of a thousand arrows it will be cheaper as it uses 250 t6 claws instead of blood.
As that quiver had mf on it before the change to magic find stats on gear, you can now choose your stat combo on it.

Zerker is also an option to choose from.

Enough mats for myself and then some to sell to people who didnt.

For a premium of course.

Mind you, I’ve only salvaged maybe 15 rares in that amount of time, since I’ve been using most of my time doing Clocktower runs and other Halloween stuff. But still, getting nothing out of all that is very disappointing.

During the Southsun Cove Update, i salvaged hundreds of exotic settler trinkets every day (they were available for like 40s), and i can confirm that i also got 4-5 ectos from a single salvage. It was very rare though, i guestimate, i got 4 ectos about 5 times every 1k salvages and 5 ectos maybe once every 1k salvages.

It is the only food that offers power/toughness and also lasts 1h instead of 30 minutes, so its a popular food buff.

You need 6 Cayenne Peppers to cook the recipe and they are quite rare, at 6s a pop, they make up the mayority of the price.

It was the same problem with sentinel inscriptions and insignias.

When ascended weaponcrafting was introduced, they made sentinel inscriptions available from the commendations vendor, so you can craft asc sent weapons.

I expect a similar solution for Azurite, once ascended jeweling comes around.

And those are crafted items. Gemstones aren’t, and neither are doubloons, but gemstones are stored while doubloons aren’t.

+1 from me because it is a great post and you obviously put alot of effort into it.

I reported your post, so a mod gets aware of it and merges the other topics that you mentioned.

Personally, i already said enough on the various topics concerning silver doubloons.
I already have my Juggernaut and I know I can generate Silver Doubloons through opening the right bags at the right prices and through the mystic forge while making a profit, even though i rarely do it these days because i have better ways to make a profit than clicking away for 10g/hour.

I would vote for transmogrifying Copper into Silver Doubloons because i have 15 stacks of Copper Doubloons in my bank.

They would still be the top 3 in Gold League NA, if we expect them to do better against the t2 NA servers in the coming matchups.

Even though we are still in the first week of season 1, i was wondering, if the scoring system, that will determine the overall winner could be handled better.

For clarification, this is how the scores work:

“1st place in each matchup will gain the world 5 points, 2nd place 3 points, and 3rd place 1 point. At the conclusion of the season, the worlds will be ranked in order of the total number of points they’ve acquired.”

So the scoring system only takes into account, if you are 1st, 2nd or 3rd after each weeks matchup.

In the past, many matches have been decided by Tuesday or Wednesday and after that, scores lopsided because the winning server had more people logging in and the loosing server had less and less people logging in.

So why not add the Final Score of each server every week and at the end of Season 1 determine the overall Winner by their accumulated match points and not by the amount of 1st, 2nd and 3rd places your server got?

That way it would still give players of the losing server an incentive to play competitive on Thursday/Friday because in the end it will make a difference for the overall score, if they lose by 10k points or 50k points.

WvW is intended to be unbalanced.

If you sell something, you pay 5% listing fee, which will be deducted once you list the item and is non refundable. Once you sell it, you pay 10% sales tax, which will be deducted from the gold you pick up from the TP.

So you list 1 item for 1G and have to pay 5s to list it and you can pick 90 silver up, once it is sold.

Anet announced that the set 1 will disappear well in advance, so everybody was aware of it and speculated that their prices will rise after they disappear from the gem store.

So alot of people stocked up on them because they thought they could make some quick profit. But if alot of players do this, there is no one left to buy them now, so prices fall as people want to at least have some return of investment and need their gold for something else.

This is usually the phase, where regular players panic sale and people with alot of gold put in buy orders which get filled quickly. As soon as the majority of the supply is in the hands of a few players, the prices will rise again.

They usually update new content patches as soon as they get into the office in the morning it seems. Thats Pacific Standard Time morning and means it will be late in the day in Perth.

Sorry, I’m just mad I wasted time with different crap trying to figure out why I couldn’t create it like I could create others.

I think they made special recipes for each weapon and armor piece because those recipes were introduced to suck some oversupplied mats out of the market.

You had to exchange hard leather or silk scraps, for example. to get zephyr boxes, which mostly dropped those recipes.

If it was just the inscription, the insignia and the quartz crystal recipe, not much mats would have sinked in.

you can also discover lvl 80 blue and green weapons for some discovery cxp after lvl 450

Usually they mention it in patch notes and the blog posts about new items in the gem store.

For the Halloween skins, my guess would be that they will be available for 1 Ticket for 4 weeks.

Its not a design flaw when you are a year late to get those skins at a reasonable price.

If you mean with BL RNG Skins the ones that are obtainable through the weapons vendor for Black Lion Claim Tickets, they are not all over 200+ Gold.

The price is mostly determined by the amount of Claim Tickets you need for them (right now only 1 Ticket for the new Halloween Skins, 3 or 5 tickets for most others and 7 for Fused Weapon SKins iirc). Those exchange rates go up after a while, i expect the new Halloween Skins to cost more than 1 ticket after Nov. 12th.

And btw, Arachnophobia, like the other Halloween Skins from last year arent available through claim tickets and once Halloween started this year and people realized that the old skins arent coming back, their prizes rose significantly because no new supply is coming in.

You have to have the tickets in your inventory when you talk to the Weapons Vendor, otherwise the tab with the Jade Weapons will not show.

I dont like the mini market either because supply only dries up, if people quit the came.
The only upside of them is that they go into your collectors tab and dont waste space in your regular bank.

Apart from that, i think blue set1 minis will rise a bit more in price over time than green set1 minis, compared to blue and green set2 minis.

That is because blue set1 minis are actually harder to forge as you only will get a blue mini from forging 4 blues 80% of the time, there is a 20% chance, you get a green mini.

Green minis have a 20% chance from forging 4 blue minis and a 80% chance from forging 4 green minis as well.

I don’t recall there ever being a minipet exploit. So if there was one, they did a good job at hiding it.

Not much of an exploit but an oversight. The Mini Holographic Risen Knight was a rare Mini when it got introduced during Dragon Bash. As it was forgable and pretty cheap (under 1G) people got alot of exotic minis putting those into the mf.

After a day or 2 they changed its rarity to masterwork.

Did you mean to put an ‘or’ there? I would also expect it to use a different t5 for each of the 3 ascended items unless you randomly get 1 of them. Getting all 3(unless it is one of each) seems a bit too good. Having just converted 200 lodestones I really hope it isn’t another ‘one at a time’ formula …

Most rumors derive from typos I think it was mentioned that the outcome is random and dark matter drops in less quantities than the other two.
Obsidian Shards where a possible outcome as well, if i remember correctly.
