The prices are over priced right now. People read “pack 1 = discontinued!” and started buying them up, however those mini’s will be in the game still via forging where 90% of rare/exotic mini’s come from which means blues and greens will be coming from the forge a lot still too. They won’t be gone, you will just end up missing the direct 3 mini’s per pack entering the game. I assume the prices will fall again. Depends on supply/demand, they were not doing to well until that announcement so we’ll have to see how many people jump ship and lists them, it’s already happening.
Your post makes no sense at all. Right now, at least 90% of the time you buy a set1 mini pack, you will get 2 blues and 1 green so thats the main supply of blue minis from set 1.
In order to get one blue mini from the mystic forge, you need to put 4 blue minis in, thats 2 packs you have to buy. With the introduction of a second set, your chances of getting a set 1 mini have been cut by 50%.
Once set 1 is discontinued it will actually be harder to get a set 1 blue mini than a set 1 green mini because the greens have a 80% chance to drop from putting in 4 greens and a 20% chance to drop from putting in 4 blues, while you only have a 80% of producing a blue mini by putting in 4 blues.
Also, what is your source that 90% of all rare/exotic minis come from the forge?

The type and quality of the mats that Wanze got from his bags tells me that it’s most likely to be:
a) Light Bags of Booty (from level 20+ pirates)
b) Light Miner’s Bags (from level 20+ dredge)From personal experience, I can confirm that Silver Doubloons do drop from these bags.
He may also have possibly been buying Bags of Pinched Goods/Bags of Purloined Goods, which drop from Bandits, or Light Bags of Skritt Shinies (from Skritt, obviously) although I cannot confirm that Silver Doubloons drop from those.
As someone who’s not interested in the Juggernaut, I’m providing this information free of charge. You’re welcome.
I am not interested in the Juggernaut either because i already got one.
You are also not providing information but a wild guess, which should always be free of charge.
That i used Light Bags of Booty, i already said in an earlier post. Good luck by the way, getting one of those from a Jetsam Pirate in Lornars Pass or a Bloody Buccaneer in Bloodtide Coast.

Can people tell me the pros and cons for this?
Because I only see cons
2-20 from scroll which I don’t even know where you get it from so please do tell.
And 20-76 from crafting 1-400 and last levels you have to pay 566g 18s(source http://gw2crafts.net/total.html) ? And you guys defending this and saying it is fair against the people who haven’t done this?
You get the 2-20 scroll from your 1 year birthday gift and also from an Achievement Chest ( I think its at 5000 Achievement Points).
If you follow the gw2crafts.net guide and level all professions to 400 to get lvl 76, you pay around 76g.
The 566g you are quoting, are for lvling your 3 weaponcraft professions from 400-500, which is off topic and also not the best way to actually lvl your crafts from 400-500.
I actually made a small profit after selling the stuff i crafted getting all 3 professions to 500.

Aprox 142 bags for the 20bolts a day you’ll need… for one type of cloth. Then same for linen and another 71 for cotton means 355 bags a day (presuming they are all at the same rate regardless of tier). Even if you include cloth salvage drops to add to that… that’s a lot of farming every single day : /
I didn’t sleep last night so tell me if I made a very stupid mistake with the numbers lol.
I dont farm the bags myself but get them from the TP. In this case, i got them to research Silver doubloon droprates and the profitability of opening those lootbags (which of course relies on the market value of the various items on the loot table).
Silver Doubloons rose quite a bit in price over the last month und subsequently also pebbles, nuggets and lumps, while t2 fine crafting mats nearly lost 100% value in the same time span.
A month ago, i nearly made 100% profit on the 40k lootbags i opened, this time it wasnt nearly as much and i wouldnt consider it a good profit per hour (of clicking).
However, doing this kind of research for myself gives me an advantage over others, once the values of the items on the loot table rise again, i know what kind of profit i can expect at the actual price of the bags.

Yes with about 100 bags and it was about 1/10. If you’re just going for cloth that’s about 1/20… so about 5%. Small sample size though so that could be off due to the nature of RNG. Farming up even 100 bags would take a while (especially compared to how long it takes you to farm up 100 wood/metal), so that’s another reason why I don’t think it’s a good method. You happen to know about what % gave you cloth from the 4k bags?

I went along and got another 7k lootbags, 28 stacks, to see how profitable it still is.
This time of course, it wasnt as profitable anymore as during the Invasions because t2 mats lost 100% value and i got less silver doubloons now, around 0.7 per stack compared to 1.1 per stack a month ago.
I could still cover my investments though, by selling all the mats except silver doubloons. So again, i generated 19 doubloons within an hour of clicking, plus maybe one hour for putting the buy orders on the tp.
It took 4 days to get 7000 buy orders filled.
I am pretty sure that with this method, you could farm your stack of silver doubloons within a month, spending 30 minutes a day.
I think you will have a harder time farming your 100 Molten Lodestones within a month without buying them on the TP spending just 30 minutes per day farming CoF.
But i dont see anybody complaining about those.
I attached 2 screenshots with my 28 stacks of lootbacks (2 different kinds were opened, which might explain the lesser droprate now per stack) and my loot table.
P.S.: Some people were afraid that lower tier cloth and leather might be hard to come by for ascended armor crafting because there arent any harvestable nodes in the game as for wood and ore and lvl 80 characters dont get low lvl gear drops to salvage for those. IF yo ucheck my loot, you know what the primary source for cloth and leather is.

To craft rare inscription you need:
The recipe bought from master crafter
15 t5 mats
2 mithril plated dowels (refined from 2 elder wood planks and 3 mithril ingots)
With a rare inscription you can discover a rare weapon recipe with the inscription and 2 weapon components made of mithril or elder wood.

Don’t buy the stuff that others buy. It’s usually a bad investment. That’s why people keep their niches to themselves. If they don’t, they’ll no longer be earning coin.
You have to understand that a niche is very easily spoiled; even one trigger-happy competitor can spoil it for you.Anticipate what the market will do with certain changes. For example: while everyone is openly promoting buying t6 silk as a result of ascended armor crafting, they’re not telling you the obvious. Namely, that the new ascended armor will likely require way more investment from the lower level tiers of silk, similar to the current ascended weapon crafting recipes. So when you read that, you have to ask yourself: while playing the game, do I often come across tier 2 and 3 silk that often at lvl 80? If the answer is yes, don’t buy it. If the answer is no, it might be a good investment. Now, I’m not telling you to buy that stuff, because I honestly don’t know if it’s a good investment. I’m just saying that you while everyone is shouting buy this or that, you should be buying what you think is a good investment. Think for yourself, and coin will come rushing in by the buckets.
And yes, you’ll absolutely make mistakes and lose coin as well when speculating. We all do, it’s part of the learning curve.
Good advice in general but i disagree with the part that i highlighted in your post.
Of course, you will need a decent amount of t2-5 cloth and leather to craft your weapon in the end but it will be nowhere near as high as the costs or amounts of gossamer you will need in order to level you craft from 400-500.

Not sure, if you put the prices in manually but there are already websites up tat claculate those costs and update prices through the API.

I wouldnt mind golem mastery traits with a focus on defending structures, giving you a different set of skills as long as you are inside one of your own structures.
Or traits that would enable you to carry lots of supply with it, for example a golem can harvest supplies inside a supply camp you own at the same rate, the camp itself fills up without actually taking from the supply stock.

If you are a condi thief, get on a turret.
If you want to go close to Teq and do direct damage, get pvt gear and a weapon of undead slaying or run a support build to buff those that actually have the decency to gear up for defeating Teq.
Otherwise you bring nothing to the table with your selfish gameplay that would entitle you to get any loot from him because others have to pick up your slack.

What i mean is that IF they want german people only it would be easier to have a filter like “Germans only” (no hate towards germans! But like we have in servers. We have german specific servers, so i think it should be in the LFG tool aswell.)
And the germans have to remember: They are not the only one using the LFG tool… Seeing more german posts than english makes me sad tbh. Why do they post in german and not english? They could just write “Germans only please”
because if they made a posting saying in English- German players only- you would have some sod who TLDR and join the group and then complain because they spoke in German.
Making the post in German sends a message that it is a German party.
It is not that hard to understand really.
If you don’t speak the language it was not meant for you.
I see all sorts of guilds recruiting in their native language on my server- it is meant for those communities.Well yes, but when i go to the LFG tool i like to see what people are doing. Like Path 2, story etc. but all i can see now is “Weg 2” etc. And some other stuff i can’t read.
I don’t understand why its so hard to type in English so everyone understands

Buy things fast, sell them for more fast.
Let me give you an example:
You buy 100 items for 60 silver each and relist them for 1g each you will make 25 gold profit, once they sold because you have to pay 5% listing fee and 10% tax.
Now we assume they sell within 1 hour, so you have 25g profit/h.
If you buy those 100 items again for 60 and list them for 90 silver, your profit will be 16.5 gold.
But due to your bargain bin price of 90 silver for this awesome OP items, they will sell within 30 minutes, giving you effectively 33g profit/hour.

The recently discussed anomaly in the price of soft wood made me take an overall look at the economy of basic crafting materials. The profit to level curve in GW2 is relatively linear and flat compared to the MMO norm of exponential growth. This is generally good for the economy. However, in such a setting even slight irregularities in the supply/demand process cause noticeable side effects.
To see these effects, I compared the values of different basic materials, ordered by tier. The following table excludes jewelcrafting metals copper, silver, gold and platinum. The values listed are buy values of refined materials in silver on Sep 23, 2013.
T Wood Metal Leather Cloth 1 1.85 0.69 0.07 0.31 2 6.48 3.21 0.20 0.79 3 4.50 3.65 0.71 2.44 4 3.12 3.09 0.47 0.75 5 1.65 0.57 0.09 0.16 6 22.30 10.09 2.05 7.39
In a perfect situation all values would increase as a function of tier, roughly in step with the profit to level curve. Significant deviations from this behavior are an indicator of a structural supply/demand problem. As already mentioned, the price of soft (T2) wood is irregularly high. One factor to this is the requirement of using 4 logs for one plank instead of the usual 3, but even if this were corrected the value would still be quite high at 4.86 silver. However, the forces caused by the recent addition of T7 crafting have not yet been completely relaxed. Thus, one could suspect that in the long run the value of soft wood will drop around the same level as hard (T4), provided that the number of required logs is indeed reduced to 3.
When ignoring the soft wood anomaly and tier 6 for a moment, the table shows a peculiar trend. The price increases from kitten T3 as expected, but after that it drops! Overall, T5 is the cheapest material of the five, instead of the most valuable.
There are several factors to this behavior. One that can’t be controlled is that the active player population is tilted toward the upper end of character level, thus producing more higher tier materials than lower ones. The thing that could be controlled is that T5 is currently a waste product of T6 acquisition. All the basic methods of producing the desirable T6 materials are guaranteed to also produce much larger quantities of the undesirable T5 materials, flooding the supply side.
The recently introduced T7 recipes tried to address this basic problem by consuming different amounts of materials per transmutation, 20/10/20/50 for tier 2 to 5, respectively. Looking at the results and comparing the ones affected by this force to the one that isn’t (cloth), one sees that the measure is not sufficient. T3 is still anomalously high, and T5 anomalously low.
However, there is a very simple solution that can correct the situation. If players can downgrade materials, either by salvaging or transmutating, then the price structure will naturally adjust itself. It is possible to achieve the “correct” structure by using right process cost and yield parameters for the process T_X + Catalyst -> N * T_X-1
While this is not very realistic in the physical sense, neither is flinging fireballs from your fingertips.
+1, great post.
I fling fireballs from my fingertips all day long, though.

Just like you, I made a bit of money getting to 500, and about to be broke since I want to transmute my ugly Ascended to a nicer skin.
Youre right. The reason why i posted the example with the sentinel weapons was because personally dont have any interest anymore in that market. It was nice to use for leveling my professions but i got all three maxed now. For pure profit, the sentinel weapon market isnt very attractive to me now because i make faster profit with other stuff. I just posted it as an example that its possible to make a profit while leveling.
I fully expect those people that complain in this thread to go and try it and make a loss because alot of people start doing this now.
Bloin – Running around, tagging Keeps, getting whack on Scoobie Snacks.
You’re better served by stockpiling mats that will assist you in getting 500 in whatever armor craft you use, such as:
- T6 mats such as gossamer scraps, orichalcum ore (this will possibly spike again in price) and hardened leather sections.
- Ectos
- T6 fine materials such as powerful bloods etc.
I did this already in the first days after ascended weapon crafting came around because its way cheaper to craft your ascended mats and weapon in the end compared the cost of mats to level your craft to 500 once, the prices spike.
Unfortunately, i only play heavy class, so i gotta wait until the ore prices went down a bit to stock up again. But i will still make alot of gold, selling all my cloth and leather.
For those that are asking for extra gathering nodes for cloth and leather, those are the most common drops from lootbags.

Also just to note, Settler and Dire have no ascended trinkets available. You can only get Apothecary. So if you are going for full ascended, you may want to start with Apothecary there, and fill in the gaps with Settler/Dire on your armor/weapons.
There is actually an ascended backpiece available with dire or settler stats.
If you craft one of the backpieces that had magic find on them, you can choose your stats, when you equip it for the first time.
Even though it uses t6 claws, which is quite cheap compared to other t6 mats, it will still set you back more than 60g.
A combination of apo+dire can also be chosen.

I need like 5 hours to make 50 gold on the TP and thats a casual estimate for me.
I need 2 months to get 80 laurels. How much gold do you need to have to have the buying power to make 50 gold in 5 hours on the TP, though, Wanze? I’m guessing it’s in the hundreds, if not thousands, otherwise a lot more people would be doing it. All the information I can find on making that kind of money relies on you already have multiple hundreds of gold at the least.
I usually have between 100-200g, if i combine my gold in my wallet and my buy orders on the tp, so not that much. Thats enough for me to generate about 50g per day casually, meaning out of 5 hours playing time, i spend 30-60 minutes on the TP.
Once I have more gold than 100-200g, i use it for long term investments into items, which i think will multiply in value over a month or two or just buy gems with it, of which i probably bought beyond than 30k.
I dont see much sense in hoarding my gold profits as i dont get interest in it. Imo its better used to be invested into things that increase their value over time.
I got lucky with Sentinel inscriptions and insignias during Molten Facility.
Used all my gold to buy them for 1-2g and sold them after a month for 5-10g.
During the Bazaar, celestial recipes where available for under 2 silver each, so you could get a stack for 5 gold. Now, most of them cost 50s-1g giving you a ROI of 2500-5000%. If you were clever enough to invest 20g back then, you would end up with 500g now easily.
Before the account wallet was introduced and gold wasnt account wide, i wanted to craft lvl a new character to 80, which cost around 70 gold back then.
So i transfered 80 gold to my new character and started leveling all crafts to 400, while playing the tp on the side. It took me like 10 hours to max all professions and when i was done, i ended up with 200 gold. This made me wonder, how much gold you can actually make starting out with 10g.
The next day, i cancelled all my buy orders and sell listings, to have a clean TP, transfered 10g to my new character and started playing the tp.
After 6 hours I had 237g and went to bed. The next day, more stuff that i listed got sold and i ended up with 345g total in my pocket and stuff worth around 34g still on the tp waiting for a buyer.

Unless you spend most of your time in the Mists. Then that becomes the only way.
If you only play spvp, you dont need gold.
And you can still make money on the trading post.
If you only play spvp all you earn is glory and laurels. You can’t sell spvp gear on the tp. Since you claim you don’t need gold I must have missed the patch when they added a way to convert glory/laurels to gems. Ohhhh wait….

I did some damage multiplier stacking with my celestial perplexity build (to troll around).
I switched out some pieces with Zerker and Knights for more crit chance, power and toughness and was around 3800 attack, 3400 armor, 55% crit chance, 60% crit damage, including food and nourishment, signet of rage active and 25 stacks of bloodlust from another weapon, disregarding borderland bloodlust.
30/0/20/20/0
For damage multipliers i used zerker power (15%), Empowered (10% for 5 boons from SoR and Warhorn), 5% sigil of force, Merciless Hammer, 25%.
1.15*1.1*1.05*1.25=66% extra damage with full adrenaline and 5 boons against stunned foes.
I would wait somewhere where i could jump down on an enemy, pop Signet of Rage and Healing Surge for Boons, might and Adrenaline, blow my warhorn, switch to hammer, jump down and ideally deal the first AoE interrupt with Death from Above putting 9 stacks of confusion on my target, then hammer shock for ranged damage, bulls, charge to get close and maybe 2nd interupt plus 2 sec stun, then back breaker, staggering blow and earthshaker.
If the target is not downed, i switch to mace/warhorn to refresh boons and finish him off.
If my target manages to get a skill off, i deal 2.5k damage per tick at 18 stacks of confusion due to my condi damage from celestial gear.
Works like a charm.

most of the EU population is german.
Do you have any evidence to support this?
Well, it wont be the majority of all EU population (but it will be close, i assume) but german is the most common spoken native language from all players on EU servers.
Sorry but this is nonsense. English the most spoken language in the EU, its the “international buisness” language. Its taught all over Europe as a second language. Spanish and French players speak some english, many German players speak English and the Nordic counrties generally speak excellent English.
So no German is definately not the most common language. Its not even close.
Just because it’s the most common language in the region does not mean that it is the most common language on those servers. Pretty sure he is saying that a disproportionate number of germans play the game.
And yet he is still wrong because
- There are nearly double the number of English servers to german servers in the game
- The English servers in the majority are high population
- German speakers are outnumbered massively by French/Spanish/English speakers combined,
- And thats not even mentioning Nordic countries, Baltic countries, and mediteranian countries that all have some grasp of English who also play GW2.
He is wrong in his assumption. It is based on anecdotal evidence, which is proven false with actual RL information.
Here is my anecdotal evidence:
As of 7th of September 2013:
A total of 747,367 copies of GW2 were sold in Europe and of those copies 351,434 were sold in Germany.
If you add the copies sold in Austria and the german speaking parts of Switzerland, i think its fair to assume that the majority of the european player base speaks german.
