If it weren’t for [HATS] buying into all the subprime mortgages, we all would have a lot of disposable income around.

A raised debt ceiling isnt really disposible income and those quaggans gotta live somewhere.

On Topic:

Nobody read the rumor on reddit that you will be able to turn Bloodstone Dust and t5 Blood, t5 dust and Crystals into Dragonite Ore, Empyrial Shards or Dark Matter with the next patch?

I bought 25 stacks each of dust and blood just in case.
Was a good opportunity to make use of our new guild vault extension.

There are many ways on the TP to gain essences of luck while turning a profit.

Just because you dont know how to do it, doesnt mean everybody else is wasting thousands of gold to max his mf.

sell price - listing fee not matching

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: Wanze.8410

Wanze.8410

There is a difference between sales tax and listing fee.

5% listing fee you have to pay, once you list an item on the TP and that is non-refundable.

10% sales tax is taken from your profit, once it sells, so the projected profit that is shown in your screenshot are 90% of the sales price and will be the amount that you can pick up, once the item sells.

In your case:

22.54s sell price
- 2.25s sales tax
= 20.29s projected profit, once the item sells.

The 5% listing fee of 1.13s gets deducted from your wallet immediately.

Projected Profit suggests a high total fee

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: Wanze.8410

Wanze.8410

You pay at least 1c sell on fee per item.

So if you are selling an item for less than 10c, you pay more than 10% sell on fee.

Unless you sell for 1c, in that case, the sell on fee gets waived and you only pay the listing fee of 5%, which again will be at least 1c.

GW2 has the best game economy I have ever seen in an mmo

Maybe for people who have time to play the market like you, it is.
But for people who only have like 1-2 hours per day, they’d rather spend their time playing the game: doing dungeons, guild missions, etc… And for them, prices on the market keep rising but their income doesn’t rise as fast.

Now, everybody plays the way they want to. But IMO this is what’s wrong with this game. People who play the market can just straight up buy legendaries and other rarities while the regular players strugle. If I were one of the big brains behind GW2 I would be asking myself some questions right now…

Those people that spend their time playing the game and not the market still have a big impact on the market because they usually provide the supply.

I cant buy a legendary on the tp if no one is willing to sell it. Regular players are given the choice of playing the market if they want to, so you cant really blame Anet if they chose not to.

I don’t think they can ban you for buying them.. what I am worried about is that they could just disappear from inventory.

They cant do that either because there is no way for them to determine if somebody was aware that the low selling price was a result of an exploit or not.

I am more worried what this means to the wvw meta.

They can take a look at your buying pattern and reasonably decide if your taking advantage of an exploit or not. If they decide you have been exploiting, you can then be banned. Don’t fool yourself. If you are aware of the exploit, don’t buy them as you could very well be banned.

Just because you buy an item that is reasonably low in price compared to the last month doesnt mean that you are exploiting anything. As long as your sell listings on omega siege golems dont exceed your buy orders on them by a margin, i dont think you got anything to worry about.

I’m often jealous of you old timers and all your experience/insight. Considering I only started playing the market 3 weeks ago I’ve yet to build up the coin to invest in long term. I’m limited to short term flipping for a little while longer unless I can stumble into something amazing.

Its not your bankroll that matters but your experience. Of course, it helps to have a certain amount of gold to spare and invest but its not neccessary.

Even though i propably have several thousands of gold locked into items in my storage, i only keep around 100-200G on hand to put into buy orders.

Usually 100g are enough for me to make 50g profit per day, investing 1-2 hours on the trading post, depending on the market. That is usually due to my long experience, though. With the knowledge of the market i gained over the last couple of months, i am pretty sure that i turn 5g into 200g over the weekend, if I would spend all my time on the TP.

Many players lack some understanding though and basic math skills to do this.
And without those players, I wouldnt be able to make such profits so i am alright with that.

Whenever people are rolling their eyes about players doing 50g/h on the TP, they usually disregard the time invested into getting to know certain profitable markets and the research it takes.

For me, the Trading Post is the most balanced form of PvP in game right now and I spend i good chunk of my playing time on it because its fun for me, discovering a profitable market before anybody else, getting good rewards (gold).

GW2 has the best game economy I have ever seen in an mmo and it can also teach you some basics of real life economy.

It is possible to lvl from 400-500 weaponsmithing without crafting a SINLGE exotic weapon, utilising discovery exp from blue/green/rare weapons as well as sigils/sharpening stones/refinement.

Maxing MF - other use for essences of luck?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

The first people already maxed out on 300% MF and they made a pretty good effort doing so. As far as i know, you can still consume Essences of Luck at 300% so i think Anet might raise the bar at some point.

Apart from that, i think its the best idea to introduce recipes that use Essence of Luck for crafting, either as an ingredient for personal limited time mf boosters, food trays giving mf or in ascended jeweler crafting, making mf utility infusions.

Bags huh. Well maybe, although I fully expect Anet to go in line with the Holo Wings and Jorbreakers. 100k candy corn for a bag or random drop.

Ye gods I will be quite miffed if it turns out Candy Corn is actually very valuable. -tinfoil hat on- And some people just knew in advance. -hat off-

When the item codes for ascended armor became public, i played around a bit with the codes, switched out some letters here and there.

I found an exotic item called Cob of Candy Corn, which I think will be an crafting ingredient for all the new recipes that will come out.

I guess the Cob will be either another drop or be crafted itself, using 250 Candy Corn and some other stuff.

However, i dont think that regular Candy Corn will be the limiting factor of crafting the new recipes. It will be either a new drop (the Cob of CC) or other pricy ingredients like Lodestones, as seen in the recipes for the new Runes and Sigils that were introduced during the Queens Jubilee.

Thats why i didnt invest into Candy Corn because I think they will drop in abundance again and be available 1c over vendor price during Halloween.

Some people made good profits flipping them short term after the Halloween Patch Announcement but in general, i dont really like making money on short term flipping, so i sat that one out.

Can't Sell Amulets?

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: Wanze.8410

Wanze.8410

The items do not show SOUL BOUND or ACCOUNT BOUND, the items show soul bound on use, they have never been used!!! So why can’t I sell them?

I think you didnt craft those Amulets, you simply added an upgrade component to amulets that you didnt craft yourself (at a Jeweler Station).

If you put an upgrade component on an item, it will make it soulbound and everytime you do it, a pop-up appears for you to confirm that it will become soulbound.

Both Amulets you mentioned arent directly craftable and the “of the Sky” Suffix means, you added a Quartz Crystal with celestial stats. All Celestial Gear is account bound in the first place.

My guess would be that you simply misunderstood that adding an upgrade component to an item is crafting, which it is not.

If the items still show soulbound on use after applying an upgrade, it means the tooltip is bugged. But as I said, you have to confirm everytime you apply an upgrade that the item will become soulbound.

For real? The OP said you can’t buy them on the trading post, so I figured (s)he had already checked there first, and I didn’t bother to check if that was actually true or not. I’m not sure what this topic is even about, if you can just go out and buy the recipes. :/

As for the price, I think I was doing the math with Pristine Snowflakes (tier 5, 26.7s each,) instead of Flawless (tier 6, 8.52s each,) because stupid snowflakes. Arglebargle.

It’s confusing enough to keep them straight without the higher-tier material being the second-cheapest in cost, with the absolute cheapest being Unique Snowflakes, which are…fourth tier, apparently. Thanks for setting me straight.

Snowflake market is screwed up, man.

Well, the OP is right, there is no recipe for givers draconic helm, as you have to discover that one, once you crafted or bought an exotic givers inscription.

Concerning prices, as you need 10 t6 snowflakes for the inscription, it will only be cheaper than other inscriptions, if other t6 mats arent cheaper than 17 silver, then.

I bought some stacks of recipes for the inscriptions/insignias before ascended crafting came along, for about 2s each.

The inscriptions are at 14 silver each now, so that was a good investment.

Giver’s Recipes were available as part of Wintersday, which is why the require snowflakes. They’ll probably return again this winter, but for now, the recipes are inaccessible if you don’t have them already.

You can, however, buy the inscriptions on the trading post (4.4g for armor, 7.7g for weapon,) as well as simply buying Giver’s armor/weapons directly off the trading post. They’re not cheap, but neither are the materials (Flawless Snowflakes,) and only people who participated in Wintersday can craft them, way out here in October.

Edit: Looks like PurebladeProductions beat me to it.

The recipes for the Exotic Givers Insignia/Inscription are still available on the Trading Post for under 20 silver.

The same is true for flawless snowflakes.
Also, last time i checked, the Givers Inscription was the cheapest one to craft from all the exotic inscriptions (apart from celestial).

- Shaman’s Amulet of the Valkyrie

What’s the point of crafting if you can’t sell stuff, I just don’t get it?

Berserker´s Amulet of the Sky has a Celestial Gemstone on it, which makes it soulbound.
I guess that is the same problem with the other one you try to sell.

Adding any upgrade component to a piece of unbound gear will make it soulbound.

If a mob drops a crafting mat for you, your mf determines the chances for you to get a higher tier crafting mat.

Creatures in Southsun Cove for example are all lvl 80 and drop tier 5 or 6 mats.
Everytime you get a crafting mat from killing a creature, the mf roll will determine, if you get a t5 or t6 mat.

More DPS leads to more kills per hour, so when you are farming trash mobs, you get more drops.

So in a general sense, DPS determines the quantity of the loot, mf determines the quality of the loot.

Well, you snipped out the part of my post when you quoted me, where i talked about decrease of demand. Price fluctuation is also an indicator or supply and demand changes.

Where exactly does the heavy speculation about a population increase in Orr during Halloween happen?

Can you elaborate what you think is a really, really weird drop in demand for the items Safron, Lotus, Ghost Pepper and Orrian Truffle?

They are all ingredients in popular food recipes, so some people cook alot of it to make some coin.

Actually, my theory of a dedicated guild or a single player being responsible for it makes far more sense than your theory of alot of people being in Orr, come Halloween.

Around 7 October demand dipped by approximately 30 to 40 percent for these items. Supply and demand for these items are huge, so we’re talking big numbers here. Demand for them usually does not move so heavily, and certainly not all at the same time, unless there’s a very good reason for it. I am looking for that reason.

And this is where you are simply wrong because this alleged dip in demand by 30-40% didnt happen to any of those items at any point in the last 7 days. Maybe you are interpreting the graphs on spidy wrong.

You can go on and look for a reason for something that didnt happen.

I have no idea why any of you are saying the OP is assuming there is some sort of manipulation on the TP. That is not at all how I read it.

I know, they all reacted on the first guy that commented on my post. It was too much fun doing that than staying on topic. Granted, one guy stayed on topic though, and speculated people sold their cooking stock as a result of there probably not being ascended cooking in this patch. It doesn’t explain the other materials though, but whatever. Let’s see what this patch brings: if it contains lots of people concentrating in Orr, we’ll know there was another nice lil’ leak.

My accusation of a guild manipulating the prices of the items in questions (or any other items) seems to be unfounded.

Clearly no such guild exists.

Also, if anybody bothered to actually check the prices of the items in question, they would have noticed that not a single one of them actually plummeted significantly in price after the halloween patch announcement.

Connecting an unlikely increase in population density in Orr during Halloween with a non-existant decrease of demand in orr-grown resources and blaming leaked information for it, is, well….

If they are on the same TP with NA and EU, it will likely make everything dirt cheap at first, but ANet’s response to that has been overwhelmingly ridiculous numbers of materials needed in newer recipes.

The TP in China will be seperated from the existing one.
There are many reasons for it.

Seasonal items from updates that havent been released in China yet and also, some items had to be changed in appearance and name due to ethnical reasons.

You also wont be able to transfer between servers or guest between China and NA/EU, send mail, whisper etc…

I am also 100% sure that Ascended Trinkets will be introduced before Legendary Trinkets.

I am assuming you mean craftable ascended trinkets

I do. However, my post stays true to uncrafted trinkets as well.

The CXP gained when crafting a recipe is based on the experience required for the next level, scaled by the type of recipe you are crafting and how far your current level is above the required level for the recipe:

xp_gain(N) = xp_req(N+1) * multiplier * (1.0 – (N – N_min) / span)

where N is the your crafting level, N_min is the minimum level required to craft the recipe, and multiplier and span depend on the type of item being crafted. If you are span levels above the recipe’s level, you receive no CXP for it.

Type / Multiplier / Span
Refinement / 0.3 / 25
Part / 0.6 / 25
Item / Food / 1.4 / 40
Exotic Weapon. / 1.85 / 250

All of this is from the wiki. The mithril tier has a range of 300-375. Crafting 375 items gives you 0 CXP at 415. Clearly something it broken when they raised the level cap. The span in the table is how many levels that you should be able to gain by just crafting that item. You see refining only gives you 25 levels which we all know so it’s safe to assume that crafting items should only give you 40.

**I can’t format correctly on my phone so that table is going to look horrible in my post.

To me it seems this formula applies to regular crafting from the crafting tab but not to discoveries.

As mentioned at the end of the blog, as always things are subject to change as test and prepare various systems. Most of the stuff covered in the blog you’ve already seen implemented, or steps towards being implemented, however the precursor building (and corresponding additional legendary items) is the one highest at risk to not make it this year. – Colin Johanson

How do I use Discovery tab to get a larger box? All I see is an 8 slot box that requires 1 crafting material

You buy a Rune of Holding from your master crafter, they are located in the 2nd tab when you talk to him to buy stuff.

The name and tier of the Rune of Holding will determine the amount of slots your bag will have:

Tier 2: Minor – 10 slots
T3: Standard – 12 slots
T4: Mayor – 15 slots
T5: Greater – 18 slots
T6: Superior – 20 slots

Apart from the Rune of Holding, you will also need 10 tier 2-6 leather, cloth or metal.

Bones for Oily or Craftmens Bag, Scales for Equipment Box or Dust for invisible bags.

Speculation About New Materials

I think Xunlai Electrum Ingot will be for jewel crafting, because armorsmithing doesn’t use gold and silver. I’ve heard talk of legendary asscessories, which will be the main reason ppl want to lvl jewel crafting to 500.

I dont know where this legendary trinket talk came from and i am pretty sure, ascended crafting will come first for jeweler. Why?

As you already stated, the Xunlei Electron Ingot uses silver, gold, platinum and mithril, which are the t2-4 metals that jewelers use and the crafted Ingot is an ascended item, not a legendary item.

I am also not convinced that it will be ascended trinkets that we can craft at lvl 500, Anet never confirmed that.

All they said is that all crafts will be raised to 500 by the end of the year. As Ascended Trinkets are already available through other currency, i dont see why the would make them available through crafting as it would devalue Laurels/Commendations/Fractal Relics.

My guess would be that lvl 500 jeweling will focus on Infusions.

Rare and lower Item recipes are supposed to have a span of 40, meaning if you learned them at 375, you can still get xp up to 415. If they are still giving xp after 415 then something is not behaving correctly.

Do you have a source for that?

What would Legendary trinkets do that Ascended trinkets don’t?

You will probably be able to chose your stat combo, like legendary weapons.

I am also 100% sure that Ascended Trinkets will be introduced before Legendary Trinkets.
