That shouldn’t have caused the drain from 11,700 to 0 in 18 hours.

Whats so absurd in 650 planks sold every hour?

Laurels are a currency you get by showing up (at least now it is, was dailies/monthlies before). It’s a reward for attendance, so no. If you can’t bother showing up then no laurels for you.

Edit: Now selling a package of Laurels at the Gem Shop for cash rich, time poor players would be acceptable.

paying to not show up? whats the point…

getting rewarded for being there, while being somewhere else, of course.

Even though i dont need more laurels atm, i wouldnt mind to have the chance to buy some with gold, if I should run short again.
Its convenient for veteran players like us but for every one of us that would be happy with this change, 10 other players would cry out because they feel their loyalty to the game is being devalued by making laurel exclusive rewards available for gold purchase.

You don’t understand, anet is buying OUR loyalty. Do you know what happens when people get “all da armourz!”? They quit. So many people left before Ascended was added because anet didn’t expect the speed at which people would get full exotic gear, but aha! this time they were ready with a MOUNTAIN of time gates.

Having something you need “for completeness” that forces you to log in each day holds you to the game for longer because people have brains and they are easy to manipulate.

So letting people skip that isn’t in our (playerbase would shrink or get bored) or their (less browses of the gemstore) interests – its a bad idea.

PS I’m a veteran (who thinks)

Hmmm, I crafted my last ascended set over 8 months ago, and since then never found myself in a pinch for any kind of currency to get what i wanted. But I didnt leave the game and still play as much as before.

It was a generalisation it doesn’t apply to everyone but it clearly applies to a lot. Also do you see people who just log in for dailies?

If it was a generalisation, i dont know why you quoted me directly, told me that I dont understand and claim that you are the veteran who is thinking.

Because I’m thinking about whats best for the game, not just best for me.

What does thinking about whats best for the game have to with calling specific and personal statements a generalisation?

I think mobs should drop precursors more often, like maybe once every 5 mobs. That way getting legendaries won’t be such a boring grind for new players

As long as they stay salvageable, I dont see a problem with that.

The only way I could see laurels being purchasable is if you ‘missed’ some of the ones you’d get with dailies because of not logging as much as others, and you’d be able to get them with gems.

So if you login daily, you get them for free, and if you didn’t, you must pay gems, but you’ll never be able to get more than someone who logged in daily.

Good suggestion but it would be hard to implement with the current login rewards.
It would also not stop someone who logged in a couple of times right after launch to be able to purchase as much laurels as a player who logged in on a daily basis, if he decides to come back to the game now.

It might work, if you are only able to buy as much additional laurels as you have earned yourself.

So someone who rejoins the game, can double his pace of acquisition but wount be instantly be able to catch up with loyal players.

The next question would be, if they will be available for gold (and maybe additional currencies) from a vendor or on the TP from other players.

I would tend to the tp solution because it wouldnt create additional laurel supply and would be another way to reward players for their loyalty.

The point of laurels is to reward logging in regularly. Purchasing laurels with currency (none of which I’m hearing workable or viable options for yet), defeats that very objective.

What exact currency would use for purchasing?
What would replace laurels for logging in since that will become redundant.
Also, why do you want to buy laurels? It can’t be for t6 mats, since those are purchasable. Is it for the minis/LS1 rewards? Having additional ways to purchase laurels for these makes little sense. If anything having alternative acquistion methods would be preferable.

To be honest, I think the system works pretty well now. Short – medium term goals for inessential items, which you have to decide what you want rather than buy it all at once. Seems to be working exactly as it should

I am fully aware they are daily log in rewards.

Well, I just decked out my 3rd character in full ascended gear and thought to myself that it would be nice to have a feature for veteran players (I know I didn’t specify the veteran part in my op, but I will change it). Particularly when I would like to have a bunch of different builds to play and other alts I’d like to make. I’m tossing hundreds of dollars to buy gems and covert to gold so I can buy all the mats and stuff, and just thinking it would be great to have an additional laurel option.

I didn’t sit here and think about the costs why and hows, just thinking it would be a great feature to add in for us vets.

The monthly allotment of laurels would not be invalidated while having an extra “purchased in some way” method of obtaining them for vets.

You need laurels to purchase ascended trinkets and stuff, ascended recipes, infusions…

I crafted 5 ascended armor and weapon sets over a period of 5 months last year. Gold isnt really an issue for me but during the 3rd set, i started running short on laurels for the recipes and dragonite ore for the gear.

Even though i dont need more laurels atm, i wouldnt mind to have the chance to buy some with gold, if I should run short again.

From whom, each other or an NPC? And for how much? Considering one laurel is worth 3 T6 mats or about one gold, it would need to start off there. If you log in daily and chose the laurel chest at the 28th day, you’ll get 55 laurels/28 days, almost 2/day.

from like the bltc or a vedor. I don’t really care how much, that’s not my concern right now. sure, starting at 1 gold seems like a good number to work with. I am fully aware of the monthly allotment.

What would never happen is them being made available for a fixed gold price from a vendor.

Because that would basically hard-cap the average price of t6 mats (and all the other tier mats). I dont think that would be desirable in a free economy.

then maybe gold and some skill pts/new “forge currency” or whatever. there are a bunch of workable options so just dropping the idea.

As a big time trader, I actually have lots of fun finding ways to monetize my other account bound currencies, so personally, I would really like, if they were tradeable on the tp. I am just not convinced that it will be an improvement for the average player.

Prices would probably stabilize around 1g for the moment and even though I have 432 laurels atm, I would probably invest a great deal of gold into buying more.
First of all, because I think their value would rise to 1.5-2g once new sinks for laurels will be introduced (presumably with HoT) and second of all because they dont require any inventory space.

If it’s from a vendor then it could lead to an increase in T6 mats, and then a decrease in their drop rate to compensate, so, imo, no. Maybe from other players, but I don’t see ANet allowing laurels to be sellable.

I am not even sure, if you Anet was even considering the additional influx of t6 mats through laurels that are coming from alt accounts bought during the 75% rebate sales.

The reason GW2 has so many different currencies is to ensure players have to do different things to earn the rewards and cannot simply farm or buy gold and then buy everything.

On that basis I think it’s highly unlikely they’re going to add the option to buy laurels, or WvW tokens, or any other currency.

In general, I agree and dont expect Laurels to be made available via any kind of trade.

However, they already made other currency available for gold with t7 mats from trick or treat bags and wintersday gifts.

As those mats were especially introduced to make sure you complete certain content in order to craft ascended gear, I was quite surprised they put them into those containers as it completely defeats their original purpose, unless you categorize opening containers as “content”.

Requests for Exclusive Skins

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Wanze.8410

I think the answer is no.

A game need exclusive drops. The reason is that (some type of) players want them. The reason is no different then e.g. the reason why in real life, some people drive a porsche. They want to brag. They want you to envy what they got.

I’d agree with this if said items were locked behind hard to do content, but it’s not.

The value of this is determined by how many heads turn when they pass by and how many times people start threads like this. the more you say you want them, the more rare they become.

Even more of a reason to reintroduce them and put them behind more challenging content. At least then you will prove you got something through skill and not through market manipulation.

Why is it important to have such items in a game?? cause people have a need to be unique and some have this more then others. The more unique you want to be, the more expensive it is.

Then put it behind content, problems solved. Making them impossible to get is only a way to help manipulators doesn’t help the game in any way or form.

The only bad thing bout the current top exclusive items are that they where not designed that way. It would be better if e.g. the chainsword was repeated every year and the top exclusive items where introduced with the black lion weapons.
But it is too late to turn back now. Taking out the exclusivity now is unfair for those who used this as an investment.

If only to ruin the manipulators that are running wild on the TP lately I would love it if they added those skins back. Anything that requires serious effort to make (like a Legendary) is fine, but those skins do not require any effort they are just impossible to get aside from the stupidly high prices the TP manipulators are asking for.

What did they invest? Oh right you mean buying all the remaining shields then posting a few of them at even higher prices? Nobody needs that type of “investment”.

I would argue that playing the trading post and making enough profits to be able to afford those skins takes alot of time and skill, so they are basically locked behind hard content, just not the content you would like it to be locked behind.

lol seasoned wood planks

Another interesting point is that players seem to be more content with high wood prices compared to silk. Everybody is moaning about the high silk prices (2.30s atm) while t2-t4 wood logs go for 2.20-2.90s atm.

You don’t need anywhere near as many logs for making ascended weapons as you do cloth scraps for making ascended armor. Because the logs can be farmed directly, buying them is a matter of convenience for the 1%. Buying cloth is pretty much a matter of necessity for everyone.

I made a spreadsheet of the mat requirements to make ascended armor and weapons for my current five characters. It requires, for example, 5,800 elder planks but 14,500 bolts of silk. Given a few months, I was able to farm the necessary elder logs myself since the supply is plentiful. In the same amount of time I’ve barely made a dent in the amount of silk scraps needed to make that many bolts. If I don’t buy cloth scraps, getting five sets of ascended armor is not a long-term project, it’s a multi-generational endeavor. “Come on, kids. Let’s go salvage some cloth for grandpaw’s birthday. You know he’d like that.”

I wasnt talking about elder wood because compared to t2-t4 wood and silk, elder wood has a huge aditional sink in crafting rare weapons for the forge.

I was just pointing out that people could now go out and chop wood, sell it and buy a silk scrap for every log the chop.

But people seem to have little interest in that.

I dont think this is a good idea. Save up the gold and buy it from the trading post.

That’s not possible they are way overpriced for what they are worth. It’s just a couple of manipulators that are buying the items to drive the prices high. Nothing to do with how valuable the items are

How do you determine that the ones bought on the tp are being relisted at higher prices and not bound by consumers?

Personally, I bound the Greatsaw, the scythe, the chain sword and deathly pauldrons to my account in the last 6 months.

The real culprits are cunsumers here, as they are the ones, who destroy supply, while traders at least keep them in circulation.

So it moved from 7.6s to 9.3s in the end. I call that a price correction. Basically the previous price was below what the market could support and was prevented from rising due to the undercutting nature of new supply. Once flushed out it is now finding it’s new support price. It’s down 50c from 12 hours ago so the price still hasn’t stabilized yet.

Some will cry that this is inflation or price manipulation but players can still go harvest seasoned logs, convert them to planks and undercut.

And even if it was “manipulation” by some few, rich people, I wouldnt really call it a success.

There are many items besides these skins that can be invested in, and many more that will appear later on. They have been exclusive for some time now, and people have made profits on that. The point of economics is that supply and demand changes. Restricting the supply all the time is not good for an economy. I don’t suggest making them available 24/7, but allowing some supply to come in and replace the few that people manage to purchase won’t hurt anyone.

Besides, GW2 and GW1 have a sort of policy of making things available later on or in another way. For a recent example, see the laurel vendor with all the season goodies. Noooo reason why this can’t be done for these two.

Well, it would hurt the ones that just purchased one before it gets reintroduced. And as already mentioned, all items in question have already been re-released.

Greetings,

I would like to make a couple small suggestions/requests to make available a couple of exclusive skins that are not obtainable to my knowledge other than through the trading post (for exorbitant, but certainly worthwhile prices). I have been playing since beta, and I would love to finally own the Chainsaw Greatsword halloween skin, and the Decorative Molten Jetpack. I was here for the events myself but never had the luck of getting the Jetpack to drop in the Molten Facility, or get the Greatsword in the Black Lion chests during Halloween. I saw that for 2014 there was a chance to raffle from a skritt and receive the greatsword.

May I ask for all of us out there, to please add the Molten Jetpack and the Molten Berserker mini to the Molten Fractal as low chance to drop from the Fractal chest?

And please for this halloween, can there be chances for the Chainsaw Greatsword skin from a black lion chest.. just like before? Perhaps with a lesser chance to drop?

Thank you from a wishful charr who really needs to look great, charr-style,

Selling Twilight and buying Eternity?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Wanze.8410

Wanze.8410

Selling twilight to buy eternity will make you lose gold, in your case it’s easier to just craft eternity yourself. If you add the tp fees to sell the twilight (i think it is 15% fee) you will end up needing to spend much more gold than just keeping the twilight and making eternity.

I dont see the advantage in selling twilight, you would end up with both sunrise and eternity for yourself but imo its easier to just make an ascended gs, having the original legendary weapon is not so useful.

I never tried to transmute a legendary, but i heard that you can do it, and the legendary will still keep the ability to change stats no matter what skin you transmute on it.

If he sells and buys eternity, he will end up with 2 legendary greatswords instead of 1.
If you regularly want to run 2 different gs builds with different sigils, it might be worth having a 2nd gs handy, which can also switch stats ooc.

On a related note, anyone know why ancient wood has been exploding since last month?
https://www.gw2tp.com/item/19712-ancient-wood-plank

Nearly all common mats have been rising in value and declining in supply for quite some time now.
My guess is that its a combination of new demand from new players from the last 10$ sales and less mats being farmed.

I would hazard a wild guess that the gold transfer changes might have something to do with it, culling the farmbot population even further.

Maybe it’s the upcoming adventure system.

Not for Asurans, though. Little people going on adventures is so LotRO,

Also, Colin Johanson Alarm Clock.
Waking you up with a smile, swinging a sword!

Jack-in-a-box style, I hope.

A limited edition with a CJ Bobblehead should be shipped to the first 10 orders on April 1st, 2016.

Roy Cronacher Live Stream Replica Polo Shirt. 100 bucks per shirt easy.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Mounts-Confirmed/first#post5124978

Also maybe a Roy Cronacher Live Stream Replica Outfit in the gem store.
For 10.000 gems and only available for 24 hours. Goldmine.

I would delete all my alts for this.

I got another theory:

That t-shirt is totally unrelated to guild wars.

Its just a polo shirt with a polo player on it.

I’m sorry, but I will have to shoot this theory down. Everything within a Guild Wars stream is intended to be relative to the Guild Wars universe

Chairs confirmed then. The RP community must be hype.

I been in this game since Beta and never truly understood this.

Okay, Guardians we know have crappy range. With a bow, my auto attack definition states I have 600 range.

600-what? It’s obviously not 600 feet, so… ?

Over 7000 hours played since pre-release and until now I didnt even know that guardians can use longbows.

That’s the single most silly theory in the whole thread!

Halfway through the video, if you are watching it in a sound proof cabin with dolby surround sound and the volume all cranked up, you can hear Roy fart and then Ruby itches her nose and her face looks like a raisin (you can only see that in super slomotion) for a short time.

Poison nerf confirmed.

Crafting for pre or just buying the pre

I will need to check the price for inscriptions when I get home, looked at the wiki and it said for example carrior mithril imbues inscription selling for 56 silver, that is the cost of getting a rare sword

Yeah thats about the going rate, I sold some for a little more 2 weeks ago and since then prices for t5 fine mats and mithril/elder wood even went up a little, so I wouldnt be surprised if you could sell some for over 60s over the weekend, when their prices usually spike.

For some weapons, like swords, you would get the most forges for your gold, if you crafted the inscriptions, sold them per listing and bought the weapons you want on buy order with your profits.

Crafting for pre or just buying the pre

Wanze.8410

Hi, I just wanted to know if you are better off saving to buy the pre rather than crafting and throwing in mystic forge?

Crafting rares to throw them into the forge is only profitable for the expensive precursors.
For less popular legendaries, its better to buy rares from the tp because they are on offer for less than the crafting value.

If you plan to craft yourself it couldnt hurt to put in buy orders for rare inscriptions and the two weapon components to save a few silver per weapon.
