Give it a couple of days until the traders start buying up all this stuff and dump the supply on the tp.
It simply means a lot more things will become expensive because of the increase in demand.
- It will not make ascended less expensive,
- it will not help light classes,
- it will not help altoholics,
- it will not remove the extra stat increase incentive to craft it.
Earlier, people said “I do not have to craft it for every character stat-wise, it’s just a long-term option for my main”; now people will have to grind for BiS item since it does matter. ANet has a chance to make a lot of players way happier by making damask cheaper – but yeeeah, with the today’s reveal of HoT bundle policy, I’m sure they’re not aiming for anyone’s happiness.
Since ascended release, they already introduced plenty of changes that adress your concerns.
They introduced alot of new cloth faucets and even gave you the possibility to farm all tiers of cloth in a level 80 map (SW), they made it accound bound after use, they even made the account bound mats easier accessible. OBsi Shards can be farmed in SW as well, you can more laurels than before, if you log in on a daily basis and you even can BUY ore/dust/shards with gold now (through wintersday gifts and t&t bags).
Now they add even more functionality to them (stat increase) and you complain.
The price disparity for light classes is in my opinion the only half valid concern, however, that is up to everybodies personal preferences and is the same to every player.
Making damask cheaper wont adress that concern anyways, unless you bring elonian/damask/deldrimor all to the same price level, which will require a huge amount of micromanaging. And if that process involves raising the value of deldrimor, asc weapons will see a price spice as well, so its rather counter productice.
Penguin made another good point:
If the silk requirements will be lowered, it will result in more spools being crafted and put additional demand on on lower tier cloth, which will increase in price, if they dont adjust those faucets. The gold you save in silk will be added to cotton/wool/linen.
At the end of the day, players are fine atm to pay 17g for damask and they will be fine to pay 17g per damask, if silk requirements get lowered, which the added vaue coming from t2 to t4 cloth.
Bloin – Running around, tagging Keeps, getting whack on Scoobie Snacks.
Anyways, I am pretty sure that they WONT adjust the recipe and I will tell you why.
Ascended crafting is basically the only viable sink for silk.
If they adjust the silk bolt recipe back to 2 scraps it would mean a 33% decrease in silk demand, if they adjust the damask recipe to 50 bolts of silk, it would mean a 50% decrease in demand, if both changes are implemented, it would mean a 66% decrease in demand.
That a significant numbers and will result in silk going back to vendor value.
As ascended crafting is the only viable sink for silk, Anet basically has to make sure that the average player that wants silk cant farm his daily demand on his own and has to buy silk from other players that dont have demand for silk (because they arent crafting ascended armor).
During LS2, Anet introduced alot of new silk faucets in order to get the price down, about 10% with every new content update.
So if Anet decides, that the price of silk or cloth in general gets a little too high, they will adjust the faucets, not the sinks and definately not by 33, 50 or 66%.
And personally, i wouldnt buy too much into this cloth spike. There is alot more supply of silk (and other cloth) available on the tp apart from scraps and bolts.
Hundreds of different containers and thousands of different armor pieces will drop cloth, once opened and salvaged.
Wintersday gifts give a decent amount of cloth and can be forged with snowflakes, of which we have plenty of on the trading post.
Give it a couple of days until the traders start buying up all this stuff and dump the supply on the tp.
Bloin – Running around, tagging Keeps, getting whack on Scoobie Snacks.
It’s not that players do not want ascended to be better, it’s that they want it to not feel grindy which it always did, especially for light classes, especially if you play more than one class, especially in fractals, and it does feel more grindy than ever with the rocketing price.
The price is relatively irrelevant in determining if its more grindy now, as long as the droprate stays the same.
Bloin – Running around, tagging Keeps, getting whack on Scoobie Snacks.
For wvw at least, it doesnt matter, as you neglect the increase in toughness and vitality in your calculation, which balances it out.

Maybe I overlooked something but is the resistance boon pretty rare?
I checked the patch notes and it seems only engi (antidote) and mesmer (AoE Resistance when casting a glamour traited) apply resistance, apart from converting chill into it.
Was this boon introduced mainly to be applied by mobs/bosses in order to counter the new unrestricted condi meta?

Most of your suggestions just completely unbalance the game (range distance) or require Anet to completely overhaul the enviroment, especially in jumping puzzles (leap distance, jump height, swiftness increase).

Dueling in guild halls? I’m all for it. It seems like a nice way to open up dueling for those that want it and keep it away from those that don’t care for it. Maybe that is what this means:

Well, i read battle together, not against each other.

Bloin – Running around, tagging Keeps, getting whack on Scoobie Snacks.
My condolences as well.
Usually I would also disagree with a request like this. Mostly due to the reason that if Anet would give you guys something like a gravestone in game, be it in the open world or in your guild hall, it would set a presedent.
After reading the OP and the posts from other guildies and family members, personally, I would also hope that Anet somehow gives you a special place in game dedicated to the deceized because this game (and gw1) meant so much to him and his guild members and this is where they spend time together on a daily basis.
But unfortunately tragedies like this happen on a daily basis for gw2 players and then Anet would have to decide on an individual basis every time someone else wants a special place for a special someone that passed away somewhere in game.
Evaluating someone elses grief and level of tragedy online and determining, if something is worth a special mention in game and the associated work hours, isnt really something I would want to get into, if I was running a software company.
But I dont see anything wrong with gem store purchaseable upgrades to Guild Halls that are somehow customizable to commemorate a certain individual, be it gravestones or tombs that you can engrave yourself, shrines or statues that you can build using any skin/outfit etc.
Personally, I found myself a nice easter egg in game that reminds me of something dear I lost.
I already played the game for a couple of months, had map completion and loaded into frostgorge sound hundreds of times when I realized that one of the ships pictured in loading screen was photoshopped from a google image of a Tall Ship that I worked on about a decade ago. While sailing around the world, it was boarding a canadian private school. I had some of the best time of my life on there, it was my home for 2 semesters and its crew my family.
Unfortunately, the ship capsized and sank during a storm several hundred nm off the southamerican atlantic coast a couple of years back. Even though there were no casualties and only minor injuries, the ship, one of my favourite homes away from home (and I lived in over 40 countries/on different boats), is lost forever and i wont see it again.
When I realized that its a picture of that ship, I tried to find the spot pictured on the loading in game on the map, hoping to walk its planks once more. But unfortunately it didnt exist.
I wasnt sure, if the artist who designed the leading screen, was just looking for a cool picture of a tall ship online, which he could photoshop into the graphic or if he chose that picture on purpose because he was a former alumni of that school and wanted to put in a commemoration of it in game (it sank before gw2 release).
So after failing to find the ship sailing, I searched under water, if he maybe incorporated it as a wreck on the bottom of the sea. I probably searched for a total of 3 hours that night and even though i didnt find it in the end and got no rewards for my efforts, that was some of the best exploring i had done in this game.
Attached a screenie of the loading screen with the google image next to it.

Account bound crafting is troublesome, as every account could only level each profession up once. That would take away a popular way to level your alts for many people and it is also a big sink for lower tier mats, which would devaluate. That would take alot of rebalancing.
I cant see many disadvantages of transferring crafting disciplines as the achievements tied to it are account bound, as long as the receiving character doesnt receive the exp associated with it as well.
The only problem i see is again the diminshing material sink from players that would have destroyed mats in order to level a craft discipline they already maxed on another toon.

Hey,
So I am able to buy the sinister insignias in SW but when it comes to finding/purchasing the recipe to make sinister gear using the insignia; where do you get that!? I bought an ascended shoulders recipe from the laurel merchant and verata’s gear wasn’t one of the options.
Any help is appreciated
I got mine from the TP. The RNG is a bit iffy on Verata.
I have to disagree on the RNG part because I think ANet did a good job there.
The fact that you can choose which recipe you want from the recipe books means you only need to farm 6 of the books. If they dropped as regular recipes, like Ventari recipes in Dry Top, your chances to get the 6 recipes for your armor class in your first 6 drops is significantly lower. It also is a little safeguard to make buy outs of certain recipes less efficient.
If I buy out a single verata recipe, supplies can be replenished by any player that gets a recipe book, if i buy out a ventari recipe, its supplies can only be replenished by every 18th drop of a recipe (assuming their drop rate is equal).Having joined several SW chest-trains, and having opened literally hundreds of chest and only getting about 3 receipts. Well your mileage my vary, but in my case the RNG was very iffy.
And rightly so. Why do you expect good loot to drop from a chest that only requires you to press f to open it, after someone else discovered it?
The underground bosses during the breach have a significantly higher droprate of the books compared to chests.

If any single item worth more than 1g drops for me then I’ll post here. Please don’t hold your breath as I’m well into account wide diminishing returns due to being here since head start.
ANet doesn’t want longevity, they need new sales.
You mean you are convinced that ANET is out to get you and nerfing your drops? Maybe you need to craft a tinfoil hat in real life so ANET can stop reading your thoughts as well.
There is no such thing as account wide diminishing returns.
What? Yes there is… Everybody who has played from the start knows this because anet said so.

Its not about the rewards, its about the journey.
To me it was about the ascended backpiece, I hate the bladeshard thingy. And it is the cheapest ascended backpiece.
Btw, OP: look up whats required to craft something upfront so you can decide whether or not it’s worth it to you.
I didnt re-calculate lately but i think quiver of a thousand arrows is a wee kitteneaper with 120g and it has the same choice of stats on offer.
I think mawdrey was the 3rd or 4th back item i forged because i was working on another stat set. Even though it was pricier, I enjoyed the journey as well and I had a few new skins and AP to my name.

Not sure if you are already using any apps/websites that make use of the new trading API keys, which makes overview over your transactions alot easier, if you trade alot.
There are quite a few out there, personally i use

You are also able to view your historical transactions offline.

Since yesterdays update i encountered several new behaviours.
First of all, the hitboxes of the small windows where you adjust the G/S/C values, seems to be quite a bit to the right of their visual appearance, so if i click on the copper value, it will adjust the silver value and the gold value when i try to click on the silver value.
Thats quite an annoying bug, if you rely alot like me and do alot of clicking via muscle memory. I listed 500 snowflakes for 2.02g instead of 2 silver earlier, 50g listing fee down the drain.
Another new thing i encountered is that if you open the info window of a new item, it actually remembers now the position of the listings/bids scroll bar.
So if you have Item A open and scroll the listings window all the way down to see the highest listing, then close the window and open it on Item B, it will actually show the 6 highest listings (listings 45-50), not the 6 lowest listings, like it used to.
Bloin – Running around, tagging Keeps, getting whack on Scoobie Snacks.
Since the last patch about 20 hours ago, I have a hard time adjusting the gold/silver/copper price values when I am buying/selling on the trading post.
Usually I hover over the small input window for the prices and adjust it via mouse wheel scroll. But now, once I hover over the box for the copper value, it becomes unresponsible, as if my mouse pointer wouldnt be there. If I left click into the copper box, it actually adjusts the SILVER price by 1 for each click, either up or down, depending on if i click in the upper or lower half of the copper box.
The same goes for the gold value, if i try to click into the silver box (earlier, I even listed a couple of stacks of snowflakes for 2.02 gold instead of 2 silver).
It seems, as if the “hitboxes” for the gold/silver/copper values are actually quite a bit to the right from their visual display.
Not sure, if others experience the same bug, or its a problem on my end.
Bloin – Running around, tagging Keeps, getting whack on Scoobie Snacks.
As much I’ve been studying profits recently, you can get up to 50 gold just by loging in the game on a daily base (Getting daily rewards > trading laurels for t6 > Selling on tp).
So, if you play a little more ahead than just loging, doing some dungeon runs (~2-3g / 15min), some world bosses ~80s per boss, you can pretty easily get the 80g into around of 1 month playing very casual. Playing hardcore gives you the slot into 1 week.
If you play and only get 80g per week, youre the most casual of hardcore.

The issue is that blade shards take up a lot of room. They have only one purpose at the moment, which is forging the various back packs. In theory, that makes them a crafting material (or if you prefer, a forging material) and should perhaps be added to the account vault material storage.
They cannot be used as currency, so I do not think they should go into the currency wallet.
The crafting stations can use items that are in your bank or mat storage but the forge cant.

I dont think they should concentrate on people that are NOT playing the game.

In RL we have cloth coming from plants after all, and having to farm it from unstable sources like bags or gear places cloth users at a pricing disadvantage.
Just like any other account, you have access to all 8 classes, so i dont see where you are at a disadvantage compared to other players.
The game economy shouldnt be balanced based on personal preferences.
A guardian has to obtain 14 weapons to achieve complete build diversity, a warrior 21, while an ele only needs 6 weapons, an engi 4.

than other greens and yellows. pvt spineguards are 2-4g for some reason. why people buy those and exotic berserker rings for high prices is kind of weird because you can get cheaper ones with much better stats elsewhere.
PVT and Dire (ghostly spineguards) are popular in wvw and other back items with those stats are hard to come by.
For pvt there actually is a cheaper option, the fiber splice but for dire it, well, looks dire.

It maybe a brand new item. I saw one featured on gw2tp.com as something new. If it’s high priced, it’s probably because there hasnt been any supply.
Thats the lower level versions, they have a highest bid of a couple of silver each.
So, the lower level version is something new? Or does it show there as new maybe if there hasn’t been any drops in a long time?
It was over where the new scientific weapons are.

Yeah I know, those are the ones.

Hi Economists! Would you say that the proliferation of account bound stuff is a sign that the free market cannot exist and that it must always be regulated to some degree?
In conversations with my friends, they tell me we live in a “perverted” or “warped” version of capitalism and that total deregulation would be better.
I just think its a conscious choice anet made in order to avoid everything being made available for gold/cash, so there are account bound rewards.

Me and my luck .. finally could farm some wood .. set some into the TP for 2.89 and
5 minutes later it looks like this
While the price for planks still is beyond 9s. I dont know why people dont refine their stuff before selling it. The players you want to sell your listings to are usually the impatient kind (thats why they buy directly). And if they are the impatient kind they are more likely to buy planks directly, rather than saving 10c on logs and then refine themselves.
Bloin – Running around, tagging Keeps, getting whack on Scoobie Snacks.
Wow .. the supply is really low if i compare it with iron ore. Never really looked at those numbers.
Iron ore and ingots lost a good 50% of their supply since mid May, just like basically any other common mat (with a few exceptions). Same goes for deldrimor/spiritwood/damask.
For me thats a good indication that there isnt any manipulation going on but regular supply/demand swinging the other way.
On the added demand side i would suspect an influx of new accounts created during the 75% off sales. If those accounts are alt accounts from veteran players, they might chose to level their characters via crafting (additional demand) dungeons runs or eotm (less supply generated compared to using map completion to level).
On the diminshing supply side I would expect the gold transfer limits that got introduced in April to at least have some kind of effect, another ban wave for farm bots could also have happened, or account rollbacks went down in volume, so basically steady supply that was obtained through nefarious means, went down.
Bloin – Running around, tagging Keeps, getting whack on Scoobie Snacks.
lol, that steady ramp down to 0 certainly raises an eyebrow. It could have been natural forces, but improbable. Just makes one wonder what they’re planning to do with 11k planks
Exotics/rares for forgekitten?
I dont think you can craft any rare/exotic weapons with seasoned wood logs that have the chance to yield a pre when forged.
I dont say that there definately werent any people who might have stocked up on seasoned wood planks while the supply went down from 11k to 0. If I was aware that supply was going down like this, i would probably have bought a stack or 2 as well, to refine all my globs of residue into spiritwood.
The first recent price surge already came in May, when supply went down from 60k to 23k and prices went up by over 50%.
After that, supply replenished quite quickly for a bit. Presumably through salvaged seasoned wood from weapons, which was available cheaply. After that, farmers might have held on to their planks, rather than undercutting each other, so it wasnt neccessarily 11k planks that got sold more within 18 hours but 11k less planks posted within 18 hours.
