Fairly uncommon?? Everytime we have that fractal for the past 4weeks (and i ran fractal daily), all the pugs tend to ran there and expected me to join them. So i doubted it “fairly uncommon” at this point, it’s frustrating since i can put “no bug moss” in my lfg but getting cliffside is rng. I guess i need to also put “no bug archdiviner” in my lfg from now on…..sign
I’ve only seen it once out of 5 or 6 times I’ve done that one in the past 3 weeks.
Not sure why people do it, the final boss fight is probably the easiest part of that fractal.
the fun part is the “Pro zerk only :2eles, 1 war, 1 guard 1 thief” killing it on water when on land is soo much faster.
No its not. He doesn’t go into stealth underwater. On land his stealth drops your DPS significantly.
You know this game about magic and knights and dragons and kitten? It should be more like a game about cars playing soccer.
I miss siege equipment in the jumping puzzle. Having an arrow cart on the top of the arena mowing people down as they come from dark room was a blast.
I bought p4 the day i posted thid just to be sure. Hehe
Why would you pay for a dungeon path? To me it would just take away any meaning associated with unlocking the achievement. I mean sure, you have dungeon master but, you didn’t really earn it.
Why would you pay for a sandwich? To me it would just take away any nourishment associated with eating a sandwich. I mean sure, you have a sandwich but, you didn’t really make it.
Eating a sandwich isn’t considered an achievement.
I doubt we’ll see any significant balance patches until HoT

You’re right. It is so much harder to go chop 5 logs in maguuma jungle than to win a PvP match as a class you don’t even have, or to take a keep on a WvW that’s stuck in a tier where they constantly lose.
That explains so much. I thought I was at 43 but when I came back after quitting for a while, I saw I was at 30.
Question: how much AR do you need for fractals past 40?
Came back since quitting around January 2013. Before I quit no one gave a kitten about how much AR you had at high level fractals since the max was 25 (30 if you had an infused back piece which very few people had) and would get nearly one-shot regardless of AR.
How prices will be affected will be difficult to tell. It really just depends on how you unlock the precursor through the new mastery system. The easier it will be, the more prices will fall. If it’s fairly easy (someone who plays 2 hours a day can get it in 2-3 weeks) then I would expect them to fall fairly drastically. If it’s very difficult, it could lead to a lot of people who were waiting on HoT to get their precursor going back to the trading post, leading to a spike in prices.
I think the most likely scenario is a modest decrease in prices. Probably no more than 20%.
As for whether or not YOU should wait, well that depends on how badly you want it, how much the price of a precursor is to you (do you have thousands of gold stashed away or have you not even unlocked the golden title?), and how long you think it will take you to unlock the precursor through mastery.
Personally I would recommend making sure you have all the other expensive parts, like tier 6 mats and lodestones, before you worry about the precursor.
You’ve still got solid defiance removal, blinds, and stealth.
Overall and in the long-run, it depends really on how many limitations there are on the precursor crafting/scavenger hunt.
For instance, if the scavenger hunt is so time consuming (or requires completion of difficult content) then I can’t imagine that the precursor price on TP will drop that much. It might be so laborious that it could take a similar amount of time grinding/farming gold to buy the precursor in the first place.
Of course, even though the crafted precursors will be account-bound, this would mean that there would be less demand overall for the precursors on the TP. The question is, will the supply of precursors be the same when HoT releases as it is now? Maybe fewer people will be throwing weapons into the forge and be spending their gold on the new content?
Yeah .. also if the prices drop maybe less players are motivated to gamble at
the mystic forge and in the end the precursors also will not drop in price
because there is less supply-And at the moment i wouldn’t even be surprised if you have to do raids
for the precurser hunt.
Highly doubt it. Anet seems to want to make a clear distinction between how you unlock types of legendarys. Raids are definitely going to be for the armor precursors. Fractals for the backpiece precursors,.
Depends on what you have to do to unlock a precursor, I doubt it will be easy or something you can do in a day or even a week.
I think prices will drop but not by a huge amount. Probably you’ll see around 20-25% reduction in price.
I got back about 3 weeks ago from almost 3 years break myself :P (only played core beta and a 1-2 weeks after release). Overall, it seems like most people agree that Ele is the strongest (it doesn’t many many weaknesses) with D/D. Ranger would be the weakest.
Then thief seems mandatory in the tournament games I’ve seen. Mesmer and Necro seem good, perhaps Engineer (Necro with a spec to throw conditions back at people since this meta seems heavy on conditions). Bunker guardian. I still see a warrior here and there but it might not be in the best spot.
The expansion might shuffle it around though. So far, from testing with the beta, if the game was to release in the current state, I would expect D/D ele to still be the strongest spec along with the new Mesmer (Chronomancer) and the Revenant. Ranger and Engineer elite specs aren’t out yet though so I can’t tell for these 2 classes. You might want to check out the beta stuff to make your mind since the expansion is around the corner.
Its interesting that you said that revenant would be one of the strongest. Why do you say that?
Have you played with/against one in PvP yet?
They’re really insane. Just a huge amount of damage and durability. They’re like D/D eles on crack. Though I expect they’ll get nerfed before HoT goes live, I think they’ll be top tier still.
Depending on the dungeon path you can just make a LFG saying “Path X, all levels welcome” and you’ll probably have a group filled in under 5 minutes.
I leveled my thief to 80 doing nothing but AC explorable once I hit 35
Best ways to make money are probably silverwastes and clearing dungeons (if you can do so quickly)
High level fractals are also good as well though you’ll need high AR. Also you can solo/duo arah and sell the dungeon completion.
Fractal weapons wont be rare anymore since you can buy them with pristine relics with HoT.
Yeah but isn’t it supposed to be a ridiculous amount for one?
Most people I know have an insane amount saved up since once you have 2 rings (which you’ll probably get as drops anyways) there’s nothing worth using your relics on.
Unless you made a fractal backpack
Fractal Backpacks use normal relics, not pristine.
I know that but given can convert to regulars and rings drop like candy… it accelerates getting the backpack substantially
Even still. Most people who frequently do fractals have a ton of relics saved up even if they bought 1 or more backpacks. I’ve bought 2, 1 for my mesmer and 1 for my thief, I still have over 100 saved up.

What do you need so many sets for exactly?
1 set for PvE, and possibly another for WvW.
You can just use exotics for WvW unless you’re really hardcore into roaming. You can easily get a full set of exotics through dungeons.

I still use full CoF armor skins because every other light armor set looks awful to me.
kitten , I was check it earlier but only noticed the recipe to turn vial/globs into the next higher tier. I’ll have to try that tomorrow.
It’s stupid how the only way to get the item you need to infuse a ring is by doing LOW level fractals. I want an infused red ring of death for my thief, yet the only way to get even a chance at a vial of the mists, is to do fractals levels 1 through 9.
20 slot bags from fractals are incredibly easy to get. Most people have more relics than they know what to do with.
I run meta-zerk and all welcome groups. I run optimal setup and random setups. I actually start both types depending on my mood at that point.
I’m in EU. I only do fractals, not dungeons. And run 3-5 tiers a day regularly. Times completely vary from 02:00 to 22:00. Most regular problem is not people not fitting the LFG discription although you get some of the wrong class joining that easy to get kicked in meta groups (even when you can tell a zerk is not in zerk you cant pinpoint WHICH of the 4 other people it is so hard to make a fuss) it actually people that join the wrong lvl range for their AR. Depending on my mood this could mean I vote kick them at the final boss as this is where you really notice it with a couple of exceptions, but it the people that lie about their AR that kitten me off. Though sometimes revenge is sweet
Had someone join a lvl 50, carried them to the final boss which was Jade Maw. They insta-died on entering the fight area. Left them dead and completed the boss.
The release and run back to get the chest, of course they once again instantly die. They start crying for a rezz. I just stood there doing nothing. They insisted the whole fractal they had 85AR, even when they instantly were dying they kept saying it. They got really annoyed that I refused to rezz them even after I stated that I do not help people that lie to meNow I think free accounts are going to make this problem worse for quite some time. But I think I make an AR check at start of any dungeon I do and if people do not answer just kick them out. Least that way they need to at least know the AR necessary which is a start to knowing mechanics of fractals and if find out they lied just remove them from the boss and be done with it.
I mean unless you asked them about their AR and they lied or you put a minimum AR in the LFG description, I don’t really feel you should be kicking someone for their AR.
I have 30 AR, I have successfully completed several fractals in the 3x range. The ONLY time it’s an issue is at Mai Trin. When going into the area I get one shot, I’ll need to experiment a bit with mistform or earth focus 5, but yea, I get one shot. When that happened my team ressed me, we went and beat the boss without me going down once.
Almost all agony attacks can be dodged. Even Jade Maw’s if you know the timing of it.
If someone kicks you for having low AP, would you really have wanted to run with them in the first place?
I have very low AP since, other than when the infinitely repeatable dungeon achievement goes off, you don’t get AP for completing dungeons. I’ve finished every path of every dungeon, most of which were done multiple times. I regularly farm CoF, CoE, AC, Arah, and sometimes Honor of the waves. That’s in addition to farming high level fractals. If someone kicks me because my AP is low, that’s their loss.
Leveling up a crafting discipline takes MAYBE 30 minutes, an online guide, and some gold.
If you can’t accomplish that, how in the world do you plan on getting the rest? The hundreds of (probably expensive) lodestones, the 2000 tier 6 mats, the 250 ectos, the 77 clovers, and, of course, the precursor.
Maxing your crafting like 0.01% of getting a legendary.
Hell if you have everything but the precursor you’re probably only 30-40% of the way there.
Wait a second. I just checked, it seems free accounts can receive gold but can’t send gold or anything.
Maybe just buy ectos with the gold and then sell them back to TP for 1s to drive the price of ectos down? Then your main gets to buy ectos at this lower price? LOL.
There’s such a massive supply of ectos on the market right now, you’d have to buy tens of thousands to adjust the price even a small amount.
It’ll be less populated for sure, until people get tired of HoT zones, which i doubt. People are sick of silverwastes though, and i doubt they will want to go back. So if you want to farm that place, right now is the best time.
People are probably sick of it right now sure, but I highly doubt they won’t go back, unless HoT provides a better place to farm easy gold.
I’m a fan of running these full zerkers 80s only speed clear groups, and I totally agree.
If I saw a group that was advertised as a casual group without skipping or exploiting (although there isn’t much exploiting these days compared to when I started 3 years ago) I would probably not join and if I did, I would respect that.
I guess it’s just the nature of online gaming, there will be kittens no matter what. Just like how you have people who join your parties and insist on skipping mobs or speed clearing through the dungeon, there are also people who join zerker speed run parties that have full PVT gear, and have never run the path before.
I’ve never actually seen a party advertised as a no skipping/exploiting party. I’ve seen some listed as casual, but none that specifically say no skipping/exploiting.
Also, how in the world do you clear Arah without skipping? Clearing out the mobs there takes FOREVER.

They could nerf it, but really that could happen at any time.
I just hope we don’t start seeing a bunch of “didn’t get swamp, reset”
Same boat, quit around the introduction of Laurels, just came back about a week ago.
Pretty much everything is a daily now. Not just the actual achievements but also world bosses, fractals, events, etc. Basically just about everything you do gives a lot of gold/tokens your first time through, and less in subsequent runs. Each CoF path for example gives about 1 gold and 60 tokens first time, and 20 tokens and 26 silver. In the past it was same for tokens but I believe the gold amount changing is new. Killing Tequatl gives like 4 bonus chests the first time each day.
Silverwastes are the new way to farm gold. It’s an area with a long meta event that will typically give you a ton of rares, some tier 6 crafting mats, and a lot of gold. Also you can get cores, I typically get at least 1 charged core.
It says it’s active. Must have been a bizzare drunken purchase then.
I bought GW2 on release, then quit after a few months, right around the time of the karka event. Just came back about a week ago. When I first logged in I had a ton of items given to me over the past couple of years. Among them were the heart of thorns glider skin, the mini, and other HoT premium bonuses.
Now, the weird thing is, I never actually bought Heart of Thorns, to my knowledge.
People aren’t doing dungeons for lack of dungeon finder, people aren’t doing them because for a lot of people, it isn’t worth doing them.
Dungeons are only worth doing if you’re good at them, and can clear a path in a very short time span. If you can run through a path in 5 to 10 minutes then yea, it’s worth doing. Once per day that is, since otherwise you just get like 25 silver and 20 tokens. The chests in dungeons absolutely suck, you will almost always get nothing but blues and greens.
If you want the weapon and armor skins, just do PvP. If you want the gold, then just go to Silverwastes.
That’s also why you see most parties saying “experienced only” or something similar, and frequently that you have zerkers gear. It just simply isn’t worth it to run a dungeon unless you can run through it extremely quickly.
Even then it’s sometimes not worth it. I spent about 30 minutes running all 3 paths in Crucible of Eternity. I got 0 charged lodestones/cores, 180 tokens, and about 4 gold. Later I spent about an hour in silverwastes. Got 3 charged cores, about 10 gold, and a ton of ectos and tier 6 mats.
Some people can’t understand that not every single piece of content is designed to be available to them in less than a day.

SF is actually set to lose rating this week, it’s still early but at best they’ll just stay at the rating they were at the start.
That’s just being a leech and contributing less, making your teammates do more.
There’s no excuse to use gear that weak.
The problem is more about the Black Lion Kit. Why the hell would I buy one at the gems store if I often salvage and get between 0 and 1 ecto ? (more often 0…). Prefer not buying and selling yellows to the market. Seriously up the kit to 75%.
Rate is around 0.8 to 0.9 ectos per salvage, so if it was 75% then you’d get even less ectos.
At 20+ people love swamp. Hell some groups will even restart until they get swamp.
It’s the easiest and shortest fractal once you know what you’re doing.
Protip: you can usually jump over the treelines.
Reason 2:
SOS is not as strong as strong as before, and they do not field the numbers they used to field. It could be due to low morale or guilds leaving the server (AGG, FOE, etc). If SOS was dominating oceanic prime time as they did in the past, the score would probably be a lot more closer.
It’s because sea of sorrows is composed of bandwagon hoppers who went to SoS so they could be on the winning server, now that SoS isn’t winning, they have no interest.
People like to complain about other server’s populations.
But when they’re the server with the highest population, I don’t see them complaining. I don’t see them saying “hey lets go to another server.”
When SoS dominated tier 1 for over TWO MONTHS by the sheer virtue of numbers and coverage, did they say “hey lets go somewhere else” or “no don’t come to SoS, we have a lot of people already, we don’t need more.”
I’m not here to change your mind or debate with you. I’m here to show others how to best farm path 1 of CoF.
The information is out there, you can do the research if you’d like to but really I don’t care if you believe me or continue to think that D/D matches pistol whip spam.
The only problem I have with this build is that d/d is superior to damage then sword is so if you were to come up with some kind of “exceed warrior dps” for p1 build sword wouldn’t be it. I bought a sword to try and get into the headspace of all the thieves I heard saying sword has the best dps, but truth is, after about 10+ attempts on controller for p1 I could never do it as fast as when I used d/d(I used this as my benchmark because it’s strictly solo so it’s easy to compare the two speeds). Even threw in assassins signet with sword which I never use with d/d and couldn’t do it in the same time. Sword is great for it’s aoe damage but in p1 the only time that is taken into account is in the first part with the two turrets, the rest is pure single target dps so you can’t truly capitalize on the swords dps since the goal of p1 is single target dps. It’s my opinion the high base damage on sword leads people to believe it does more dps but the speed d/d hits is more dps in the long run against a single target. God kitten I said dps too much.
My disagreeing aside great post wasabi, thief can definitely match warriors dps, it just takes more skill than the average thief has to survive having 10-13k hp in p1.
Spread the word, let the world know
Pistol whip spam does more damage than D/D
I’ve run CoF, AC, CM, TA, SE, HoTW, and Arah with my thief.
Only one I haven’t done on my thief is CoE
Sounds solid, I will give it a try – have been running D/D – P/P or SB for CoF P1 & P2 runs and do very well with it but would like to try something like this for the added multi-target dps. Currently my gear is zerker with divinity runes. What Sigils are you running (Paralyzation on sword?) and what food / other buff items?
Sword uses the +10% damage versus flame legion (I rarely use it for anything else) you’ll almost never use tactical strike so I wouldn’t use paralyzation.
I wouldn’t recommend using the damage vs flame legion sigil if you use it for anything else though.
Pistol it’s your call. I personally use superior sigil of fire but there’s a few others that can work. If you want to use superior sigil of bloodlust you’ll be incredibly safe.
