Does fractal level 50 have a different drop rate on ascended armor/weapon chests compared to fractal 49? I’ve seen sources claiming an approximately 16% drop rate for the level 41 to 50 daily reward chest, yet after 2 weeks of a 49 and a 40 daily I’ve yet to get anything other than rings and empyreal fragments.
You can change the stats on ascended gear.
You don’t keep any rewards gained on beta characters. Though if you log into a standard character, your reward track will be right where it was before you played a beta character. Got an arah armor box on my revenant, then switch to thief and got it.
Exotics and ascended are definitely much more common drops on Beta events.
I didn’t expect it to be epic, but I didn’t expect to be soloing a tutorial boss intended for 10 people on my first try without feeling any pressure at all, either. I’m really not even all that good at this game :-P
But it’s not a boss. Not sure why people can’t understand that.
It’s not supposed to be a challenge. It’s only there to teach you about the mechanics you will need to know for the boss fight.
I don’t get people on this forum. Were you expecting trash mobs to be epic fights or something?
Lets not forget that more people selling the dungeon means less people for you to actually group up and run it with. Arah was already difficult to get, this made it worse if you actually want to do it the intended way… The PvP track is not an excuse for it to be acceptable either, by the way, as that still a huge time and effort investment.
Anyone bad enough to need to pay to complete a path is someone I wouldn’t want to run with.
Yea I’ve seen so many comments like “well we killed the first 3 but then weren’t able to kill last one for whatever reason, and it was too easy!”
You literally killed the trash mobs leading up to the boss. That’s it.
Honestly there’s some other things that are way worse than D/D ele right now. When I play PvP I mostly see necros, guardians, and mesmers. Guardians are especially ridiculous with their ability to instantly apply 10 stacks of burning that hits for like 6k per second.
Ye the thing is those people who managed to get into the raid properly already succeeded in killing the bosses (according to reddit).
My point is NOT that there shouldn’t be bugs in beta.
My point IS that the only challenging part about the beta are the bugs.
There’s only 1 boss currently available. There’s 3 minibosses that have been killed. No one’s managed to kill the final boss that I’ve seen.
The first 3 aren’t supposed to be that hard as they’re only mini-bosses. The last one is the only true boss.
Tried to roll swamp on fractal 49. It took me over 40 re-rolls before I got it. It was absolutely ridiculous. 30 of those were for ascalon, a handful of underwaters, and about 4 or 5 uncatergorized.
Don’t really care. Though I think people who buy dungeon paths are idiots. And people who buy fractals are even bigger idiots. 20 gold for level 50 fractals so you can get 36 empyreal fragments and 1.5 gold back? Maybe if you’re lucky you’ll get an ascended ring.
So what deity do I need to sacrifice a goat to to get an ascended armor/weapon drop? Been doing fractal 49 for two weeks now, haven’t seen anything other than a ring.
Wondering what people think of glyph of elemental power. 25% chance to apply 2 burning stacks on hit for 30 seconds if used in fire. Seems like a decent DPS boost if you don’t need the CC from deep freeze.
So…. you hate convenience? Am I understanding this right? You’d make another character if your finances were made more contrived and needlessly complicated?
If you don’t need a spreadsheet to keep track of how much gold you have, the game just isn’t fun.
You are an INCREDIBLY small minority, and there is a 0% chance they will change anything about the wallet to cater towards you.
If I’m just doing a quick daily fractal a scale 1: swamp. So many people have issues getting the wisps.
I haven’t gotten to super high levels yet, but they actually seem to be getting easier since people above scale 20 almost always seem to know the mechanics fairly well.
Once you get to a certain level people will re-roll until they get swamp since it’s the easiest one when people know what to do.
Probably snowblind or dredge. Once you get past the switches dredge isn’t too bad though some pugs fall apart on last boss sometimes.
Snowblind is probably the hardest. If it wasn’t for the fact that you don’t lose progress on wipes, it would definitely be the hardest. Pugs just fall apart at the elemental, they get knocked down by the elemental and chain hit to death because they didn’t think to bring stability or anything.
Pretty simple. I’m looking for a guild that does it’s guild missions on a Friday. Currently have 3 level 80s, working on a 4th.
Can people even check the equipment of players that haven’t signed up for it?
No. You need to release your API key with the correct permissions set.
Here’s the problem.
If you refuse to give your efficiency link, so that people can see your gear, will you be discriminated against?
i.e. Refusing to ‘show’ your gear is equal to not having the correct gear.
Refusing to show your gear will be reason enough to exclude someone. It will happen.
How is this any different from “ping gear or kick”?
It’s 100% opt-in. Don’t like it, don’t use it.
So what’s the advantages to running level 50 fractals over 41-49? Is it just that you don’t have to deal with an instability if you have enough AR?
Recently got 50 AR and started running 49. Since 41-50 is the same daily chest, am I missing anything I could be getting by running 50?
the loot (yes i love to get great drops that sell for lots of gold but this game’s great loot is extremely rare and it might take me years before I get that ‘my gosh i just found a great item!’ feeling).
Do you not realize how paradoxical that is?
The value of things are determined by supply and demand. There can never be a way for you to consistently get great drops that sell for tons of gold. Because if they dropped often then the market would end up flooded and their value would be nothing.
It is literally impossible for you to consistently get great drops that sell for a ton of money. If anything consistently dropped, it wouldn’t be worth a ton of gold.
Tokens were pretty ridiculous at release to be fair, 5 per path I think? that combined with the bugs and green gear made tokens seem pretty valuable.
20 per path at release.

If tokens were 5 per path still, man, arah armor would have… well maybe not prestige, but something resembling it.
I miss the days when people would compliment me on my full set of Arah armor on my thief (minus the ugly helm ofc), back when dungeon master was a very rare title to see and meant you actually cleared the dungeons because it was very rare to see anyone sell a path.
Main reason it has no prestige now though is PvP. You can get a full set now in PvP in like a week or two if you’re a heavy pvp player.
I used to use it on a few fractals (mainly dredge) back before the update when the scaling was crazy and at level 50 you could get one shot. Never use it anymore now though.
Wait you use your tokens to buy potions?
what.
Buying potions and selling on the TP is one of the best token to gold conversions.
Ranks mean absolutely nothing. You can play with an incredibly low mmr and still hit dragon.
Honestly ele isn’t even that strong anymore. I see way more condi mesmers, burn guardians, and minion necros.
Right click -> kick from party/leave party.
If Pugs cannot kill mossman normally then they can’t probably kill anything else normally and it’d be easier to find a new party.
^ This, Mossman is a good indicator of noobiness. Better to find out sooner than later that your party is going to be stuck for hours at some of the more difficult fights.
The only larger PuG breakers are Mai Trin and MAYBE then Snow fractal. All the other bosses can be whittled down easy by most PuGs.
Mossman just seems easy when you’re not in a PuG and you’re chaining Deep Freeze on him with communal defenses aegis spam and wall from the guardian.
His melee hits nearly as hard as archdiviner, he does it more often than archdiviner, and the axe throw is a far less noticeable telegraph in melee range with all the spell clutter compared to all the large wind up skills of arch diviner.
On a stacking group that fails to use aegis and reflects properly that axe bouncing around stacked people is going to annihilate most average pugs.
Guardian and staff ele are really misleading to a group. The guardian just trivializes anything in this game, and the staff ele can stand easily outside max melee to be in buffing range but completely safe from most cleave/autoattacks while doing more damage than anyone who is melee.
There’s a reason why in fractals despite mesmer being the meta in speed clears, it is guardians who pugs want over mesmers.
In my experience, the PUG breaker wouldn’t be the Snowblind, but rather Cliffside :P
Only issue with cliffside is with the seals after chest if someone in your party kills the second chanter at the first seal.
Difficult? Not really.
Expensive? Very.
I don’t like farming trees/ore/plants in random parts of the map, or looking at viewpoints in random parts of the map, why should I have to do those? That’s not playing how I want? I should be able to get all my dailies just through dungeons and fractals.
Gating higher fractal levels behind gold gates is idiotic. +10 infusions are around 86 gold a piece.
So that’s 258 gold to slot your backpiece and 2 rings.
Now imagine fractals thet require not only a power set, but a sinister set because it’s got high toughness mobs.
You’re now looking at 516 gold.
And this is looking at the 70 AR for fractal 50. If the AR requirements increase above fractal 50, it’s going to get even more dumb.
The whole point of grinding fractal levels is to build up your skill with them. If some kitten can come join a fractal 50 because he’s a Trading Post baron or farms Silverwastes, but has done very little of fractals, that annoys me to no end.
Especially when fractals are not the most profitable to begin with, so the very people who aren’t making much gold leveling in them are the very people gated out by a gold grind.
Agony is a dumb gear check hid behind a stupid gold grind.
Ascended weapons are fine. The material costs are not outrageous.
Ascended armor, with its steep Bolt of Damask consumption, is stupid.
I don’t even understand what was wrong with exotic. Exotic was great. It was simple to switch around stats and experiment with builds. Now with ascended the time investment to switch builds is immense.
Umm… you don’t need +10 infusions at all LOL
You do if we’re talking about not using ascended armor and only 1 weapon. Which is what a post just above us said…
Infused rings and backpack with +5 = 30 AR
Ascended trinkets and amulet = 15 AR
Ascended weapon = 10 ARThat’s 55 AR and guess what? Level 50 fractals have the same daily reward chest as 41 through 49 so if you can clear those, you’re not missing out on anything. People do level 50 since if you have enough AR then you don’t need to worry about an instability.
For the love of god, we are talking 70 AR because that’s where you’ll start when they introduce the new fractal scales. Don’t be so dense.
If you would read you would notice it’s been stated multiple times that once you have enough AR for 4x fractals you can farm them to get ascended armor chests.

Scepter is what needs to be buffed, focus is a very strong defensive/utility option. D/F is a viable build in PvE, though overshadowed a bit by Staff, if you already have 1 or 2 other staff eles on your team, it’s worth a try.
Probably a gift of fortune, a metric kittenload of fractal relics and pristine relics along with level 100 personal reward level, and something crafted with a few hundred lodestones.
Ascended armor boxes have a fairly decent drop rate once you hit 40+. Not hard to gear up alts with that.
You can easily hit 55 AR with just an ascended weapon as well as trinkets.
20 from 2 infused rings.
10 from 2 tinkets
5 from amulet
10 from infused back
10 from weapon(s)
That will let you farm 40s which have a decent drop rate on ascended armor. Eventually you’ll get armor for your main and all your alts. Most people that frequent level 50 fractals have a bank filled with ascended armor chests.
It would be cool to have some sort of filter for selling paths, it’s annoying trying to find a group for Arah and maybe 1 in every 5 or 6 postings is for a group to actually clear.
There isn’t really much that requires coordination other than guild missions. Dungeons/Fractals are incredibly easy. The best you’ll find is a hardcore WvW guild.
The materials are not time gated if you grind gold instead and buy them instead of trying to farm the materials to personally craft the time gated items.
You have to learn that with this game, doing things yourself is rarely more efficient than just farming gold/AH trading.
If we’re talking Dragonite ore and not the clots/woods/ingots, then you just need to go join a Silverwastes chest train and in a day you’ll have enough dragonite ore and empyreal fragments to craft a full set of ascended armor
I bought all the ores and woods and various materials that I needed. I just didn’t realize that the glob of elder spirit residue was time-gated. Before I quit there weren’t any items that were restricted on how often you can craft them (I think).
If I had known I would have just bought the spiritwood planks and other items but now it’s too late as I have all the items in my bank and it would be a significant gold loss to sell them. Plus at this point I just need another 2 days before I can craft my ascended staff. At that point I’ll have finished Mawdrey, infuse it, and I’ll have enough AR to start on 4x fractals.

Maybe both servers just see Yak’s bend as easy points? They don’t seem very coordinated and definitely appear to be the weaker server in WvWvW.
For some reason there’s always a group of Yak’s Bend players in eternal battlegrounds that will defend their keep and towers to the death. Except in the same amount of time they’re getting completely steamrolled and lose all of their stuff in their borderlands.
Well I’ve only done 30s since before I quit there was only ascended backs/rings/amulets. And apparently the materials are time-gated so I still need 5 more days before I can finish my ascended staff.
Unfortunately it’s an issue that has never really been addressed and if anything rewards have been consistently and slowed lessened from each new content release.
What? Have you only been playing a few months or something?
I’ve played since release. Let me tell you a few things about how some rewards used to work.
Tequatl would give you maybe 3 or 4 rares. If you were lucky you’d get an exotic you could sell for 2 gold. That was it. Now you get 2 gold and 3 rares MINIMUM. Dungeons give you 1 gold or more for the first clear of the day. Everything is now a daily with much better rewards.
It might have been. I think it was mid 30s but it could have been a 30.
Currently I have about 800 Symbols of Koda from HotW. I don’t really want to spend them just yet, is there a maximum to how many I can hold in the wallet?
Would be cool. More vines with mushrooms or flowers or something.
Happened to me last week. Did a level 2x something and got the chest. Later did a 3x and didn’t get the chest.
