Hi guys, with the recent release of the legendary armour we have discovered that the LI requirement is actually a lot higher than what we first expected.
No it’s not. It’s been known what the LI requirement was for almost a year.
Why do you feel entitled to rewards for content you don’t have time to do? I get it you were time crunched so you didn’t have the option to raid. Fine. Do you not have the mental wherewithal to adjust your goals to your limitations? I’m a competitive cyclist but I wasn’t born with a huge red blood cell count or a high v02max so I’ll never be pro or anything close to it. But I set reasonable goals for myself within my capabilities. Ask yourself why your goals don’t match your capabilities.
Didn’t you read what I said? I did adapt. I continue to raid at my own pace with the difference that I’m accepting to use my credit card to accelerate the process.
As for your bike example, do you hate biking? If you enjoy it and the competition that goes with it, why are you using that example as if of any value? All activities ask for compromises, even those you enjoy. I would know a lot about it myself. However, comparing your efforts into something you have fun vs the efforts someone invest into something he doesn’t is beyond disingenuous. I mean, if you are heterosexual, will you tell yourself “I’ll kiss a guy until I like it”? That it is only a matter of will and not taste?
Don’t give me that hard work BS when you compare apples and aircraft carriers (people who enjoy something vs people who do not). Of course you will be prone to invest tons of time and efforts into something you enjoy. I do the same for what I like and can tolerate a lot more to continue doing them.
@Thrag above: I have 2 pieces of legendary armor crafted, and I thank you for your offer but I will make this short and sweet by finishing with a credit card.
At this point, I think it is time for me to call it quit. For those that still do not understand or disagree, let’s agree to disagree. At any rate, I’m out.
So now we get to the core of it. It’s not that you CAN’T do it. It’s that you don’t want to do it, so you just buy it.
And that’s fine, but stop acting like there’s some serious issue with obtaining the armor when really it’s just an issue of you not wanting to take the time and effort to get it.
one year is too long for a hard time gate.
For 6 legendaries I’d consider that a pretty cheap time gate. It has also been over 10 months since wing 3 and the requirement of LIs has been released. Doing just escort alone would have given you 40 insights which is insane for something that simple.
When you have a 2 year notice, it isn’t.
yes it is.
consider the pure gold cost associated with obtaining ascended weapons versus legendary weapons: ascended costs around 100g, a legendary costs about 1 order of magnitude more.
many other costs associated with legendaries versus ascended arent so easily and undebatably measurable, with the notable exception of the hard time gates on legendary armor versus the soft time gates on ascended and the hard time gates on some ascended. ungated pieces are soft gated to the extent that you take your time to farm/craft them up — if you at once decide to have a certain piece and have none of the prerequisite mats, you could have it in a few hours or a couple days. hard gated pieces such as backpacks generally dont take more than about a week (mawdrey was a learning experience for them). once you have HoT masteries, it only takes a couple days per specialization collection to really crank them out. hot story achievements can be done on the order of hours. winterberries give you trinkets in an hour or 2. t4 fractals give you rings (plural) in under an hour. pvp and wvw tracks give you enough ls3 mats for a thing in a day or 2. farming gold to craft a piece of armor takes like 4 hours. the time cost of an ascended piece has to be targeted to be on the order of days from their end, and they may have even changed that to hours with ls3. and thats why targeting something on the order of a year is entirely ridiculous. the very most should be a month or 2, if not a couple weeks. currently, the absolute minimum for dedicating all possible effort is 3 months. and thats if you arent starting from square 1. because good luck getting 13 boss kills in week 1. or week 2. or even any week in month 2.
the hard time gate is out of line by about an order of magnitude.
same for provisioner tokens. and provisioner farming is completely unrelated to raiding at all, so even though its minimum gate is almost right for the overall experience, the entire thing feels out of place. i posit that for an unrelated time gate, one should knock off an order of magnitude from the overall gate to make it not feel sucky and contrived.
i feel i must once again mention: i do not lack the commitment, ability, or resources necessary to do these things. i think the design sucks. im not sure i think it should be nerfed now since obviously there are people with legendary armor on day 1 of its 2 year delayed release, but ive held the opinion that the hard time gates associated with it are a grave mistake for as long as weve known about them. and im not changing it now for 2 comments that amount to saying “its there so suck it up” without offering some kind of actual counterpoint as to why these time gates are not unfun or are reasonable.
Keep in mind, the 1 wing per week to get a full set in about a year is, again, only clearing 1 wing per week. You have an option to clear 4 wings for a total of 13 insights and, again, you were noticed almost a year in advance.
There was plenty of time to focus on getting this in advance, if you chose not to then that’s on your.
And besides, for most people by the time they finish the second armor collection to get the precursor set, they’ll probably have at least 70-100 insights.
If you completed just one wing, one wing per week since release, you would have enough for a full set, and plenty left over.

“If”, being the important word. When you say it like that, it sound sooo simple. Beleive me, it isn’t for many.
It is simple. If you’re remotely competent on your class and play more than 15 minutes a week it should be easy to get 3 insights per week.
If you completed just one wing, one wing per week since release, you would have enough for a full set, and plenty left over.
Oh no! You can’t have full legendary armor set in 3 days! What a travesty!
i thought the requirement on each boss for the heart was not to die and also do deal abit of dps so you will register like you did something
That’s only for Deimos.
Cairn you can’t miss any green circles (or stand in one that doesn’t have enough people)
Mursaat OVerseer you have to survive the encounter and have someone use protect
Samarog you have to stand near Rigom when he dies (don’t have to survive entire encounters, just until the first split)
The greens not spawning bug is absolutely infuriating to deal with, but it seems Anet can’t fix wing 4 bugs that have been there since release.
Maybe i am doing something wrong here. I use the two banners and “For Great Justice”.
If i wanted to take either of the blows and still do good might i would have to redo the build with smoldering sigils and golden dumplings right?
I was thinking of a raid scenario where you would have 2 warriors. If you’re the only warrior then yea you would take both banners and for great justice.
Not sure about the numbers, but if CC is an issue you should first try substituting wild blow for shattering blow.
but 100cm counts as daily when it’s a daily. wtf
I think what OP is referring to here is when “daily fractal” is one of the general dailies (along with things like daily vista viewer, daily harvester, etc.) that doing 100 CM doesn’t count for it. Doing 100cm will count for T4 nightmare if that is one of the daily fractals, but doesn’t count towards the general “daily fractal” achievement.
Is that why there was a major nerf to traps for thf because thf where able to solo a raid boss? Or the reaper bleeds becoming stronger then the old chilling death because of raids and its lack of use in it. Or the ele power house metor becoming significantly weaker when landing more then one hit per mob / npc because of icd.
Traps were changed because the ghost thief build was completely broken in WvW. People cheesing one boss over the course of 3/4 hours when you can just kill it normally in 10 minutes had zero impact on that.
Meteor Storm was nerfed because eles had the highest dps on large targets by far in every single PvE encounter, not just raids. And no one cares about reaper.
They’re not the highest dps and the classes that are behind them are within 1k to 2k dps benchmark lower.
Except you have to put twice the effort on another class to beat their dps. And in some cases you need to put more effort on another class to stay within 2k lower. It’s pretty obvious many players are phasing to condi rangers. They aren’t doing it because they suddenly liked the playstyle, which is exactly the same it was. They’re doing it because the build is OP. Maybe it’s not very OP, but it is clearly an outlier.
Not really. The other classes don’t have very complicated rotations. Condi thief rotation is even easier and is less than 1k behind ranger.
How can I get legendary armor from roleplaying in Divinity’s Reach? I should be able to get all legendary equipment from roleplaying.
Yea, I mean who wants to be able to just instantly buy and sell or place orders for any item they want at any time, anywhere. Having to port to some designated market area and run around looking at all the shops or set up my own to buy/sell whatever I want sounds so much more convenient.
Why the hell do you care. I don’t play ranger and I couldn’t care less. I’m actually happy for them. Why do you care in what way another player reaches his high numbers? You can freely play whatever class you want and find fun. Why do you have issues with other players dealing damage?
You don’t raid do you? Rangers having good damage is not the problem. The problem is they are far above the rest, while also being far easier to play. This skill contributes so much to the damage that tuning it down a bit doesn’t hurt. At the moment they are pushing other condi classes away, and that is a problem.
You say you can freely play what you want, well you can’t in raids, unless ofcourse the other 9 people don’t mind having kitteneless guy around.
I’d like to see this skill nerfed, but what I rather see is other condi builds being brought to the same point.
Except you’re wrong.
They’re not the highest dps and the classes that are behind them are within 1k to 2k dps benchmark lower.
The reason ele was nerfed was precisely the same reason condi ranger will get nerfed eventually.
Ele was nerfed because it was BY FAR the highest DPS on any large hit box boss, no other class was even close to tempest on large hit boxes, to the point where even after the nerfs, it still out damages other classes on large hit boxes. And then on top of that, it was still the highest dps on medium hit box bosses as well. THAT is why Ele got nerfed, not because meteor storm was strong.
Condi Ranger on the other hand isn’t even the top DPS on small targets. On large targets it’s still out damaged by ele, and on small it’s outdamaged by engineer. And then it’s only slightly above the next few classes, ele before the nerfs had a 5k+ difference between it and the next highest class, condi ranger has less than 1k advantage over the next highest, condi thief.
You shouldn’t focus on it but when you’re at VG you can go staff with a P/P weapon swap and if you have to stand in a green for whatever reason you can swap to P/P and spam unload.
The faster you clear the fractal the more money you make. People like making more money. Get over it.
Holy kitten this is absolutely kittening hilarious.
I love how you find something that’s not even about the same kittening game mode and try to use it to call for easier raids.
BTW T1 and T2 fractals are a joke, making raids at the same difficulty would mean just making it so a team of 2 or 3 players can breeze through them in a few minutes.
So you’re disappointed that they updated fractals?
The event isn’t badly designed, it’s just that for a lot of players in the open world the moment you ask them to do anything besides clump up and press 1 they’re lost.
We are never going to get world 3 and 4.
I just think it’s hilarious that PvP and WvW have gotten so bad that people feel they need to start croudfunding campaigns in order to improve it.
The Dreamer is amazing, keep it as it is.
Also people who don’t like the sound effects of Quip and Dreamer now have alternatives in the form of Hope and Chuka and Champawat.
I will leave others to comment on Quip, but as a player who uses The Dreamer ever day, I want to share some thoughts:
Saying “Get another bow” seems akin to saying, “Let them eat cake.”
I would love to own C&C, and perhaps someday I will. But at this time, I am not able to undertake that legendary journey. So I will continue to use the bows that I have: Kudzu and The Dreamer. At the end of the day, I love the bows I have and I don’t know that I ever intend to change. But as a user, I am delighted wtih the prospect of a modest improvement, such as the one Keenan proposed.
Now, I don’t mind the whinnying, personally. I tune it out, no biggie. However, some other users of The Dreamer object to the sound and they tell us they are disturbed by it and that it negatively impacts their pleasure in using an item they spent a lot of time to acquire. And as a user of The Dreamer, I’ve experienced other players sharing… err… a few choice words with me about the sounds.
Given the amount of feedback about the “noisiness” of the bow, I am in favor of the proposal at hand. But I’m just one user, and I’m looking forward to what others have to say. This isn’t a “vote” situation, per se, but input is appreciated and we’ll be reading!
I understand that Chuka and Champawat is a long journey (and expensive) but you have to consider that people who do like the sound effects, don’t have any other options. If you like the weapons in their current state then if they were changed then you have no alternatives. If you don’t like the weapons in their current state and they aren’t changed, you still have alternatives.
The Dreamer is amazing, keep it as it is.
Also people who don’t like the sound effects of Quip and Dreamer now have alternatives in the form of Hope and Chuka and Champawat.
For raids you can use exotic magi gear, you can buy it from the vendor in Orr for karma or you can use dungeon tokens. I’d then recommend a set of ascended Vipers gear. Berserker may be a bit better for fotms overall but you’ll be able to use the vipers gear for condi ranger and condi druid builds.
There are games out there that have 2-3 times harder content than GW2 raids. On those forums usually people ask how to progress in the content. Strategies, advice, tips……
Here people asked for things to be catered to them. It’s embarassing really….Yeah… almost like those games were targeted at different people or something…
Surprising, right?(When i want to play a hard game, i play a hard game. GW2 i play for completely different reasons however).
So then….don’t raid. There’s still other content in the game that doesn’t offer the difficulty, dungeons, raids, open world gameplay, doing adventures, story missions, etc.
Samarog.
Extremely forgiving enrage timer.
Very simple mechanics (break every 10%, knockback small guy and spam immobilizes, 2 selected players stand near each other away from group)
Extremely telegraphed attacks.
I think we’re done seeing any new raid content regarding the HoT story. Forsaken Thicket was the HoT raid taking place after the story. Bastion of the Penitent has been confirmed to be a one wing only raid that’s mostly just about a side story. Given the time between the last wing of forsaken thicket and bastion, it’s highly unlikely that we’ll see another raid before the next expansion, and I’m sure that whatever raid we get there will deal with matters regarding the second expansion.
Moonyeti.3296 this is exactly the point i was makeing Sykper.6583 makes out Anet is all powerfull and can do anything they like with any any and all of the data at there disposal but we know otherwise thankfully there are laws in place keeping big companys like this in check
as to not knowing what is private and whats not i do know somethings we have a fundamental right to privacy on but allso feel like big companys like this blur the line and mess around in grey areas all the time
its like theres an invisible line most of us cant see and thats why i feel its important to question it
You don’t seem to understand. You don’t have any right to privacy regarding any of your dps information or anything like that. Because, again, it is not your information. You have no expectation of privacy of that stuff because it’s not yours. It is public information that you do not own or control.
Sykper.6583 feel better now you got that out your system?
depsite what you think Anet like any other company its policys need to be in acordance with the law and it dosent matter what country you live in they all have laws to protect your privacy thats why Anet has such a thing as a privacy policy in the first place and it is not just something they made up as they went along it is based on law’s that even they must follow
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/legal/arenanet-privacy-policy/Anet are not the all powerfull company you piant them out to be they do not have total control over my private info and canot do anything they like with it as you claim
The damage your character does in game, in fact ANYTHING related to your characters metrics such as number of deaths, equipped items/traits, etc. Has nothing to do with your privacy. Because all of that information is not yours. You are not entitled to any privacy with that information because you do not own it, arenanet does. Any information regarding your characters that they keep hidden is done because they choose to do so, not because they have to do so. The privacy policy is regarding information of yours that you do own, things like your email address, your real name, your credit card information. You have no ownership of your dps, your character’s build, or even your account.
I honestly should start to run a diary on all the toxic groups i encountered that used dps tools for toxicity and enforcing selfish gameplay
Pretty sure you already do that with your posts here.
Let’s throw in legendaries while we’re at it.
Fractals are the gw2 dungeons and gets all the love.
Raids get all the love. Fractals are tolerated and from time to time get yelled at – ‘Why can’t you be more like your brother?!’. Dungeons are the family embarrassment that lives under the staircase and they never take anywhere.
We’ve gotten 2 new fractals, a more difficult and rewarding version of one of those fractals (cm100) with new achievements to get in them as well. We’ve also gotten several fractals reworked to deal with some of the issues they’ve had. I don’t think you have any idea what you’re talking about.
Do you have like, any idea what you’re talking about? Do you have any idea what businesses operate like or anything? Have you ever taken any sort of business classes? My guess is no.
Yes, I do. Do you?
I have a bachelor’s degree in accounting. If you had any idea what you were talking about you would realize that Anet’s quarterly reports have absolutely nothing to do with whether or not raids have an easy mode.
Maybe you think if you keep saying this enough it will become true. It won’t.
It will, if they are planning to expand raids any further from now, and don’t want to be fired by NCSoft management after another year of atrocious revenue rates.
Do you have like, any idea what you’re talking about? Do you have any idea what businesses operate like or anything? Have you ever taken any sort of business classes? My guess is no.
If berserker should be top dps because of the name, chronos should just be able to skip time ahead until after you’ve killed the raid boss.
This thread is actually kittening hilarious.
So say you find 10 people that are interested in raiding. And you do an “all builds welcome” raid attempt. You’ve got one full healer druid, a couple 5 signet rifle warriors, a standard staff thief, a chrono with random gear and no plus boon duration, a couple eles in full soldiers gear, a necro in knight’s gear, and a couple others. And you head into wing 1 and try to bring down VG. And after multiple wipes you get familiar with all the mechanics of the fight and you’re positioning properly, you’re not getting teleported, and you’re standing in greens. And then you start hitting the enrage timer and wiping to it. And even with perfect execution of mechanics you’re still hitting enrage timer with 40%+ on the enrage timer. So then what do you do? Would you start kicking people? Would you start asking/telling others to modify their gear? Do you tell the warriors that they have to change to a PS build? Is it still an “all builds welcome” raid at that point?
Remember how immersive is the Zaithan fight on the story mode? No? So yeah thats how immersive an easy boss is.
Then don’t play the Easy Mode boss, play your normal mode Raid.
Thats the point. An easy mode boss has none of the immersion “story-mode”-advocates ask for, hence it is a waste of time to develop it.
That isn’t the point. The story people want to see/hear what happens AFTER THE BOSS IS DEAD. The fight itself isn’t relevant to the story, other than any potential dialogue that may happen during the fight.
Just watch a video or enter a completed instance, because literally nothing happens. The only thing that happens after the boss dies in any wing is in wing 4 the last boss. Then a cinematic shows which you can easily find on youtube. That’s it. You’re not missing anything.
And/or a trading post for when you have to buy more food.
I’m just curious how many people here have a business degree, or have taken any sort of classes in business. Because everyone here wants to talk about things like sales figures but I bet the majority of you would have no idea how to read a balance sheet. And I’m sure if you opened up any major companies annual reports you would be completely lost reading it.
(edited by Wasabi Kitty.8247)
How many people play WvW? How many people play SPvP? And I mean seriously play, not hop in and muck around just for the rewards and leave as soon as they get them, I mean people who actually play the mode because they enjoy doing so and wouldn’t leave the moment rewards were shifted to another aspect of the game.
Also I think your 5% is an extremely low estimate. There are more people that raid than you think.
I’d love to see how you came up with the 7 hours figure
2 armor boxes in my last 2 days of doing t4s. Don’t know why everyone immediately assumes drop rates were nerfed the moment they go a day without a drop.
I hope Anet can find a way to make this content available to relatively new and weakly geared players as well.
Raids are end-game content. They aren’t designed or intended for new and weakly geared players to be able to complete.
All the CM bosses are fine, way better than the normal mode ones. I enjoy them way more then the normal ones as the CM’s make the fights a bit harder. The avarage pug is a bad player so that you can’t complete it with pugs doesn’t really surprise me, but that is not the problem of the content imo, but the problem is the players playing the content.
Also the Samarog fight isn’t that buggy anymore, only thing i saw that is buggy is that when samarog phases and he does the attack that removes all the spears, he litterally stands there for 20 seconds doing nothing being invunerable, after that the fight continious as normal.
All the rest of what i think you are reffering to as ‘buggy’ is either fixed by now or is just people failing to execute mechanics properly.
You either haven’t done the fight or your really lucky.
Did it 2 days ago, on one attempt after we killed the 2 spawns they just respawned and we had to kill them again.
