GW2 still has my interest, but here are some of my concerns that may be shared by others.
Guilds Halls: All grind for what exactly? A huge grind for aesthetics in an area that really to me looks like one huge waste of time. Restricted to the point you can’t even duel openly? No personal/mini dungeons, no free portals, nothing special. Yay we went from tents to structure…big deal. Anet should have taken a page from Wildstar.
New Zones: I get off work and want to wind down with some GW2, login, off to DS…nope not ready for another 30-45m. Well according to Dulfy timer TD just started, show up nobody doing events. Check timer and lfg, rinse and repeat…
New Zones & lfg: Play whack-a-mole with lfg, instance full, instance not full but not enough to do meta even when I help taxi.
Map Completion/Solo: I give up on any map meta and decide to solo/do some map completion…zones closed off that only open w/meta events, zones closed off w/o a certain mastery…gained through map meta events…
Collections! Nope, locked out due to zones/mastery points lock out…see map completion/solo (above).
Gem Store: Bundles 2k…I have no problem dropping $10-20/1-2x a month gem store sub fee for what I want, but these bundles don’t fit that criteria.
WvW: Dead w/lousy (I’m sure the WvW forums have exhausted this topic in detail) new maps.
Daily: Do them and logout.
This is my scenario, not all the time, but common enough that it becomes defeating in the fact w/o a good 3-5+ hours play time available, with a 1 hour average wait time to do anything I sit at a wall.
edit for clarity:
To sum this up, I enjoy the content and challenge, but those tiresome walls everywhere drive me nuts. Fixing/updating timers, tedious walls, lfg tab, bundles, and wvw would be updates I look forward to.
(edited by Wetpaw.3487)
I will continue to pass on all these bundles.
The only problems I have ran into is the LFG window itself, especially around the hour before tequatl. GW2 vanilla and HoT should have separate lfg tabs.
Your idea of the countdown starting when the event is activated would be pretty great though.
I have the same issue.
Not sure if it’s a coincidence but every time I do the DS meta 3/4 in my screen will freeze for a few seconds every 5-10 minutes. Follows me to LA, my usual stop after a DS.
I have the 64, and Win 10 recent patch, and have most of my settings to off-med. I know before HoT I usually had everything on high, but the reduction seems to make no difference anyway.

Suggestion
I may be alone in this, and I could see some backlash to Anet for being “lazy”, but I would much preferred keeping it reskin simple.
Reskin the borderlands with themes from Tyria: Kryta, Maguuma Jungle, Shiverpeak, and Ascalon. Add corresponding features such as architecture, terrain, races, beasts, etc…and call it good.
Add mastery/spvp reward tracks, and I would be one happy camper.
I would also like to see a Tyria and Magus Falls tabs instead of one open world tab.
I got four items I would like to see added to the gem store.
1. Account wide crafting token that unlocks all trained crafting disciplines across one account for all characters. This item will work well with Additional Crafting License.
2. Race change
3. New humanoid races added to the gem store, similar to SWTOR.
4. Melandru outfit (pic below)
I do wish Cosmic Ray was Solar Beam in reverse (healing and damage numbers reversed).
Last night around 2am we beat it, unfortunate for me I dc 5m before the event was won, and even in a group I kept getting network error when trying to join a party member back into that shard…tried for 15m after the event was over.
no reward, achievement, hero challenge, or pet
next time…
The greatsword Chiroptophobia gives the same animation for around 100g, and it doesn’t have the animation 100% of the time (about as annoying as Preserved Queen Bee) while hiding one of my armor pieces.
I don’t mind the new world mastery system too much, yet, as I am in no rush. But having to redo old world tyria (xp) to farm up unlocks for mastery points I have waiting is a bit much for someone who has played since bwe2.
(edited by Wetpaw.3487)
I like some of your ideas, to add, I would change CA Cosmic Ray to Solar Beam but with the damage and healing number swapped so a Druid could continue dealing a little damage but stay consistent w/the healing priority of CA form.
This is great news.
Any chance/thoughts we can get them to follow again
This is great news.
One question I do have is about threat. For example TA Up path, prior to Malrona when pulling individual groups of spiders, some spiders will run right past us (group of players) and go directly for my Frost Spirit. I’m not using my activate control leaving my Frost Spirit on passive.
Will minion threat still be an active concern in encounters? and how/why can Frost Spirits (stationary non combatant minion, unless activated) gain threat in the first place when not placed between the raid/group and the encounter/boss?

“Most druids left south, but those that stayed behind fell into slumber, protected by guardian treants and ravager nightmares- the latter assaulting any who harms the jungle or its guardians. In 1072 AE, their spirits could sometimes be found inhabiting the Maguuma, but since then their numbers have decreased greatly. Only three spirits have been accounted for since.”

I was hoping we would get a Ravager of sort off of a glyph or spell proc.

Another ncsoft game Wildstar has hinted~an interest in consoles recently.
WvW is currently unique to GW2, a driving force to why I bought this game in the first place back at release. Sure DAOC (old), SWTOR Ilum (failed), ESO rvr (meh), and upcoming mmo CU (not even in beta yet) have tried, or trying to accomplish this game mode, but GW2 imo still carries the trophy.
For that reason I’m baffled as to why WvW always takes the back seat when it comes to rewards? Unfortunately for me I find ‘esport" spvp/arena pvp garbage (not due to the devs working on this content) in mmo’s, even more unfortunate Anet continues to coddle that game mode.
Reward tracks would be great addition to WvW.

There’ll be more supportive damage for Celestial Avatar by launch… possibly from trait modifications or from skill changes.
An issue which should not be decoupled here is that Celestial Avatar felt gated behind staff use (and troll unguent), which left a ranger with one damage-focused weapon option and one support weapon. I’m making some changes to astral force rate gain to try to address this. Ideally it should be possible to build up your astral force without -needing- to run staff, but running staff should speed up the process by nature of the heals it provides. This would yield the option of running two non-staff weapons while still having Celestial Avatar available.
Celestial Avatar healing is the best available by a decent margin right now. One issue that came up is that the healing coefficients are so insignificant that running with healing stats yields very little reward.
The best healing in the game being available without using any healing power; this is not good for the game.
The berserker meta not be the only consideration requires that other stat combinations be rewarding.
Being able to run two more damage-focused weapons (if that’s your thing) and still have Celestial Avatar available should address some of your offensive concerns if you want to play a bit more offensively as a hybrid. If you want to focus on being the top offense then you probably shouldn’t be selecting the Druid specialization.
That’s all I’m going to say on the subject for now (though I will continue to read constructive feedback here and elsewhere) as there is plenty to be done in order to address these and other issues. /me ducks back to work on Scrapper and Druid.
“The best healing in the game being available without using any healing power; this is not good for the game.”
Great news, thanks for the update.
The parties that were clearing the first boss had their druids in Berserker gear.
If there’s a base healing nerf and scaling healing buff, some pieces may switch out to Zealot.
On bosses where you absolutely need more Condi dmg, just switch to the axe/torch sinister build.
Eternal Guardian world first according to the Druid in the video was done in Cleric.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=thS431kCOcg
The way my Druid holds the staff look/feels awkward for a caster that’s range. I would much prefer the Guardian/Necro way of holding a staff.
Instant cast glyphs would be nice.
Have not had too much time in beta yet, so these are my only concerns so far.
Thanks~

Bit of a shame. Skill will be still be the main requirement to kill the bosses, but to actually come out and make a comment endorsing Ascended will only trigger more people asking for gear checks. Gear check, inspects etc are the bane of MMO’s. They go against the spirit of teamwork and cooperation.
snip*
Gear/build checks are a need for some content.
It will be nice to have content within the frame of min/max coordinated play that truly represent the spirit of teamwork and cooperation.

Change is hard, and nobody is forced to raid in HoT. My perspective GW2 is going in the right direction with specializations, healing, and raids.
If you want a WoW clone, go play FFXIV. Stop pushing the devs to make this game into your amusement park. The original vision for this game is eroding so rapidly, much of it thanks to people begging for more of the same MMO tropes.
The devs will follow their vision with their game.
Same argument can be said for you, I say let the devs build the game they want, and adapt or move on. MMO’s evolve overtime, nothing new here, just growing pains for some. Stay open to it and you may enjoy it.
API key gear checks are already/been in the works.

Full ascended Celestial with Omni-infusions required for all raids, right?
This is the BIGGEST bait and switch I’ve fallen for, sadly. Colin with the whole, “IT ISN’T ABOUT GRIND PEOPLE, BUY OUR GAME! WE LOVE YOU!” con job when he introduced HoT, followed by the disaster of the Elite specializations has led me to lose all faith in this game.
Change is hard, and nobody is forced to raid in HoT. My perspective GW2 is going in the right direction with specializations, healing, and raids.
Full ascended+stat infusions is more than 5% damage increase, plus take in consideration the overall damage/support increase with a full ascended raid group of 10 players.

Thank you,
You and your team have done a fantastic job, theme wise and more, on the DRUID. Finally roles are coming into Guild Wars 2 after 3 years of boring DPS ZERKER META.
Despite all the salty and negative comments around the forms and in game. I want to say thank you, for the DRUID truly speaks to me on a personal level.I cannot wait to finally enjoy dungeons, raids, and more. I stayed clear from dungeons and fractals because I was bored of the whole STACK and DPS META. Thank you and all of ANET for realizing that issue and creating the ELITE SPECS, to bring back ANET’S vision of a soft TRINITY.
-Purecura
Stopping in to say thank you also, this reveal was great.
I don’t see current dungeons and fotm changing from the dps meta, but I look forward to playing the active healer role in everything else and what’s to come.
Tank stats and heal specs just reduce the required player skill in encounters while the only thing they increase is the duration of the fight.
We didn’t want any of this. GW2 is a dynamic game unlike any other because it requires that fast twitch reactionary play. If we wanted to face tank and heal, we’d play something else.
Pushing the trinity is lazy and unoriginal—two things I don’t tend to think of when I’m talking about GW2 content. There’s no innovation here.
I’m looking forward to a GW2 “Active Trinity” in PvP, WvW, and Raids. I say active (w/o actually experiencing yet) where we don’t see a healbot in the back just topping off green bars, and a tank sitting like a meat shield at the front timing cd’s.
With the current combat system improved towards a GW2 Active Trinity overtime is exactly what this game needs in all areas of content. Especially with the introduction of specializations that will/can eventually unlock all roles for every professions (Thief healers/support, Mesmer damage mitigators, etc…).
Current dungeons, fotm, and world pve won’t really be affected…but I can’t wait to see what this does to WvW, sPvP, Raids, and new content.
I’m really happy with the Druid reveal, and knowing that adjustments will happen over time makes it even better. I have always enjoyed heal/support roles in other mmo’s.
It would have been nice to see Celestial form stray a little more from the player’s race, but that’s just personal aesthetic preference w/o actually playing with it
Great job.
I’m all for the transparency to the work. That aside I could careless for professional voice acting in a MMO, subtitles are fine by me. Put that money into Tech and gameplay.

Here’s some helpful links, but…being overwhelmed can be a great thing just letting the game open up as you explore and learn new things.

I know this doesn’t help you now, but I always screenshot my Dungeon/Fractal party names. This, plus any screenshots of discussion after a kick will greatly help Anet follow through and handle this behavior.
Who freaking cares about names of specializations, it’s about the gameplay
Thank you
MY suggestions
1: Race change
Price 1000 gems
- if you have completed your story quest you can change your race
snip*
Race Change please.
Seems like an awesome change to me. Key farming was never intended, keys are supposed to be a major contribution to their gem store sales, but were being significantly undermined by key farming.
Hopefully with the restrictions in place they can increase the drop rates in the chests now so people will buy keys again.
Not a chance I’m going to open up my wallet to buy keys and foolishly gamble for pixel items in a video game. The whales will continue to buy, and the rest of us will use gold>tp>skin.
A better idea would be to actually start producing items players want, great sales (not like the lackluster one we had), and bringing items back players have been throwing money at their screen for.
(edited by Wetpaw.3487)
1. Open world dueling
2. Race change
3. Unique/great WvW rewards
I appreciate all the comments but people really need to stop saying completely subjective it is not completely some will look more fluid then others, I should of worded it as in which looks faster and more fluid or might look over the top, you could just give me your opinion on which looks the best instead of saying that really, if you cannot express an opinion then there is something wrong here.
Do they require any decent skill to play?
Yes like all professions.
Are they liked or disliked by the community and for what reasons? Bad players?
No real answer can be given.
What can they offer in groups?
http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/ Check “Current Effects” when you set a build you like.
Do you tame pets or do you just get class choice pets?
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Pet
What race has the coolest ranger animations? No asura please weapons are too small.
Subjective. Make one of each that interest you and head to the Mists http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Heart_of_the_Mists
Are the melee skills cool to?
Subjective.
And do all arrows look like wooden stick or can they look like elemental arrows when you use an elemental bow for example?
Legends do as mentioned above, and when your arrows become Projectile finisher (e.g. arrows catching fire in a fire field) https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Projectile_finisher
How popular are they? I do not care for using over populated classes
Hard to tell one way or the other.

This would have been fun, and fitting w/the the Mordi serving Sylvari.
Replace the Branded with Mordremoth forces and corrupted Sylvari and let the battle begin.
Changed for Mordi~
During the event, players across the map were turned into servants of Mordremoth, and open world PvP ensued. The Mordrem Guard also made a cameo appearance during the finale, watching the battle from afar.
Across the map, waypoints were encased by Vinewrath’s roots and various Mordrem champions spawned across the map. As the corruption bar progressed, the meta event’s description would change, with members of Destiny’s Edge arriving. If a player died, they would be corrupted into a Servant of Mordremoth – upon waypointing after the first death, a dialogue box would show up to inform the player of their changed allegiance. Corrupted players could only use encased waypoints.

(edited by Wetpaw.3487)
Pretty simple conclusions and past participation within GW2 over the last three years should have cleared the way to opening HoT with a great event, and that has nothing to do with the bugs.
I think my expectations were too high, I was kinda hoping for something like the corrupted event (Sylvari hints) pre-release with new rewards to kick off GW2 first expansion.
(edited by Wetpaw.3487)
If the face was covered I would be all over this as I tend to stick to a nature theme. If only outfits allowed show/not show for the helm that exposed the armor beneath.
You may get what you want considering the rumor/datamined is aspects and glyphs, and like the Ele we may be able to summon a beast depending on the activated aspect.

The micro-management of pet and pet/weapon swap traits plays big in how the Ranger performs. That aside Ranger is still not really on par with some of the meta professions due to pet mechanics, (lack of) group benefits, bugs, and ease of play. Many professions can perform w/less effort &/or more room for error.
Not saying the gap is huge towards any one profession, but it’s there. Overall since the patch the Ranger is in a far better place, and possibly on its way up.
(edited by Wetpaw.3487)
Some bugs need addressed still but overall the Ranger is in a pretty good place with room for some improvements. Some fun builds meta..ish that I enjoy.
Also some mean BM focus or Condi builds for 1v1/ganking out there.
Ranger makes a great main, mediocre alt, easy to use, and hard to master (when compared/vs other professions).
good luck
