Still need Gift of Battle?
I sure hope down the road Anet introduces fishing, the world they built is perfect for it. A world like Tyria I can imagine all kinds of goodies from those depths.
Lore, crafting materials, minis, artifacts, collections, unique skins, monsters from the deep? So many ways they could go about it.

Your dad will be just fine if he posts in /m, if anything he would get suppressed if it moves in the area of spam. As long as he doesn’t /m obscene racist profanity he won’t have any repercussions. A few trolls may use the report function, but it won’t go anywhere.
and what Monkey Fritz said.
Oh I have the tomes to make it to instant 80, I just don’t want to see a bunch of bads, running around, not knowing what they are doing and ruining everyone else gameplay just because they skipped the learning experience part.
Have you seen those players that instant level an ele to 80 and how bad they are?
Same concept.
I wouldn’t expect Revenant at HoT launch to be some shining point of balance and bug free in the GW2 professions. GW2 doesn’t exactly have a huge learning curve, maybe for some that need to level, but most making a 1min 80 and getting started will be just fine.
Anet won’t disable tomes, etc for Revenant.

My two cent~
Raids was and is not the reason Wildstar has become such a flop. New IP, poor leadership, ignoring beta feedback, and lousy everything beside housing/raids was/is the problem.
As for GW2 I do hope instance raid content eventually shows, so tired of afk’s and bad players ignoring simple mechanics of a fight for the same reward.
Guard used to be a lot of fun in WvW pre nerf, for some reason birds can’t fly off a keep wall and animals can’t scale a wall in Tyria.
I used to farm it before the revamp and never went back.
Focusx3 (annoying)
Spear
Dagger
Shield
Mace
Staff
Torch
Axex2
Pistol
I would like to see more of an emphasis on rewarded healing/control in WvW/PvE open world events. I couldn’t care less about dungeons/fotm content though, let the zerks have that.
It was confirmed by Colin in an interview that all Living Story segments, events, and updates will be gated behind the expansion. Nothing like the attack on Lion’s Arch, the Toxic Alliance, or the Silverwastes/Drytop will be coming out for vanilla players to interact with.
If you enjoy PvE but can’t get the expansion for a while you may as well quit or start playing WvW or PvP since neither of those are apparently being gated.
How do you guys feel about this? Is it justified that from this point on everything will be happening in Maguuma? It’s pretty much guaranteed to isolate the community between HoT and not so how will that affect PvE in general? If there’s a new hub in the jungles it’s likely that a majority of players will simply leave ‘Pact Tyria’ in the dust like ANet is doing.
I hope you enjoy doing the exact same content you’ve been doing already, because without HoT you get nothing from this point onwards.
Discuss.
How I feel about this? Anet has provided free updates for over 2.5years for the initial purchase price. Time for the playerbase that have been riding the freebie train to pony up in support of the game and the people involved that have provided such great entertainment. If $30-50 (assumed xpac cost) is too much with such a distance between now and release that Anet is providing maybe those players should reevaluate their priorities and how pc gaming plays into that.
This has been asked many times, and each time Anet says no. So as Elsa once said, let it go.
I have only seen it once posted over 2years* ago, and it wouldn’t matter anyway. Anet also said there wouldn’t be vertical gear progression…mmo’s change over time. There’s no reason a paying customer can’t show interest in this. I expect we will see even more requests like mounts, dueling, and race change as new players join during HoT release.
The difference here is that Mounts matter and are easier to implement.
We already duel in WvW BLs.
Changing race is as easy as deleting your character and making a new one.
Except for unlocked bag space, map completion, soulbound items, multiple crafting maxed to 500, playing through the NPE w/the same profession, and unlocking/buying traits again.

All for open world dueling. I don’t care about balance in the open pve world at all, I just want the option to duel friends/players in environments of our choice.
and…I would like to see the opposite of Finishers, Duel request banners. Also a new animation when you deplete your opponents health (win the duel), since a downed and death state don’t apply to dueling.

I would think a Guardian based off of,
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Guardian
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Paragon
I really like the concept of changing the characters skin/body appearance in this outfit, Zodiac, and Raiment of the Lich. Looking forward to Melandru.
Maybe someday Anet will make it so you can toggle off separate pieces of an outfit like you can w/the head, but allow the armor beneath to show through.
On my Ranger I run a full celestial+traveler+food ascended infused setup. The only content I run is Living Story, WvW, Tequatl, and it works great. Farmed out title, and skins in the dungeon/fotm content around two years ago so haven’t bothered to go back. I haven’t tried running celestial for spvp either.
Fun vid thanks for sharing.
They also appear to be trying to seriously diminish casual play? "this new system is about players working together and coordinating. I don’t think the people calling for this have really thought out how much this will also negatively affect them. They are actually less organized in most cases than zerk players…as most of them will just try to do their own separate things in encounters…whereas zerk usually coordinates the exact same strategy.
this will force people to wake up and l2p. once you have to earn your rewards in this game instead of getting everything for running around in circles mindlessly, the player base will become much better at playing it.
Or they complain hard enough for it to get nerfed.
sometimes it wouldnt be too bad if anet acted like wildstar devs:
and he left to pump out games for a Amazon studio? His Hardcore™ and involvement was hardly impressive if you take away initial hype sales.
I don’t see zerker going anywhere for the dungeon scene, but I hope it becomes less relevant w/HoT and its encounters.
(edited by Wetpaw.3487)
It would be nice if Anet added checkboxes for all parts of the outfit to show the armor beneath.
From the front view it looks like a feathered cape/cloak on my Norn.
I would also appreciate mounts. Just give them regular +33% runspeed. Those who like mounts can use them, those who dont just dont. So there is no advantage in using mounts, except QoL improvement (expecially for Mesmer/Guards).
And on top for all those “Mounts hurt my eyes”-whiner -> make mounts togglable as the player instruments. With regular +33% it just looks like permaspeed.Summing up:
- Mount-fans get mounts and QoL
- Mount-haters dont see them
- ANet can milk another cash cowwin:win I guess.
Great idea covers both sides of the discussion.
For my ranged play I use a Forest Spider to burst with poison, and Wolf. Wolf has the fear that can be used when you’re downed to avoid a stomp.
Condi will never be useful in Dungeon metas beecause of stacking issues.
Well they could fix it and it would be useful. Never say never
I think fixing condition in PvE, Build template and GvG (pvp, not player+npc vs player +npc, like it will be) are the things that I hope the most for HoT, but I probably be disappointed about those.
I wonder why Anet doesn’t change conditions so they have a chance to crit based off precision, considering plenty of cond builds are built with Precision to proc a condition? Not crit in application but within the duration based off traits maybe.

GW2 does not have a trinity, will not have a trinity, and does not need a trinity. There are other games you can play if you want that thing.
Gw2 doesn’t need mounts or gliders, go play Archeage…hang gliders inc.
GW2 doesn’t need vertical gear progression go play WoW- Ascended in.
GW2 doesn’t need to put an emphasis on tank builds-Taunt & slow inc.Not everything needs to be black and white, grey is good, and so is a better emphasis of builds outside of zerker. It’s coming.
good read here also,
http://www.tentonhammer.com/feature/taunt-will-transform-guild-wars-2s-pveAn article that is entirely based on opinions isn’t going to help you much here. You’ve been wanting the holy trinity in Guild Wars 2 for ages now, that doesn’t mean it’s coming.
Well all we have is opinions at this time. I also don’t want a hard trinity/required trinity, but this doesn’t mean expanding GW current system is a bad thing, or having a open mind to the possibilities.
and my view is not taking in consideration the current dungeons, and fotm.

Ranger is one of the easiest professions to pick up and play, stay ranged and shoot…but one of the hardest to master.
Yesterdays PoI show they used the word tank quite a few times, taunt sounds fitting to me.
They used the word tanky, not tank. Different things. ArenaNet have made it very clear that they don’t want Guild Wars 2 to be a holy trinity game, people need to move on from definitions from other mmos.
I think w/experience any mmo player can come to the conclusion every mmo has a different way of incorporating taunt, tank,….trinity soft, light, hard to fit their combat style/mechanics.
It’s also fair to think GW2 will never be a hard trinity like so many like to associate w/WoW.
Taunt, tanky, tank..etc, players can make a play on words all they want it’s what it’s.

I have been farming taco since the updated 2013 release, almost daily if not two times day sometimes. I just got a Sunless skin box last week for the first time, hang in there.
Community has it down for sometime now, fastest organized I have ever seen was a 1m30s from spawn.
Is there somewhere where i can watch the POI?

and thanks for the informative show, looking forward to the next one….Druid?
ow if stability will only have a few stacks then instead of full duration… WvW zerg fights will be annoying
First thing that came to mind was Anet is trying to put less of an emphasis on blob’n. This sounds like a good thing for WvW.
Mix this with resistance, slow, taunt peels, and these new spread out multiple combo hit weapon abilities and we could start to see a very different experience in WvW tactics.
or not, but I hope so.

PvP should never not be included in these games, I conclude. It’s a wonderful cesspit for those that like rolling around in vitriol, and keeps them more often out of everyone else’s hair.
I wouldn’t go so far as to say PvP, but I agree completely that Arena esport esque modes is one of the biggest mistakes a studio can introduce into mmorpg. For all the trouble that ensues mixing esports & mmorpg it seems to be nothing more than a marketing cash grab of customers that enjoy the esport scene that usually would never play a mmorpg.
Nothing would please me more to put the focus back/all into WvW as GW2 sole pvp mode. Take a tip from City Slate CU, it’s the way to go.

I really wonder why people make such a fuss out of taunts.
Its just another hard cc, while it might work a little better thanks to being ranged, its functionally not very different from a stun or knockdown.
Because some of the vocal community are hell-bent on the anti trinity, that’s any resemblance to, including soft, light, hard or however you want to label it.
I hope as these HoT info releases continue we will see how Anet wants to evolve their combat system. I hope to see more information on other ways outside resistance, slow, taunt they plan to change, or put more of an emphasis on in HoT encounters and pvp.
and are these three slow, taunt, and resistance it?
“New boons, conditions, and status effects have been added to the revenant as well as spread across other professions’ specializations. These are cool ways we’ll allow players to interact with new types of skills in our combat system.”
PLaying other mmo’s I have a good idea how taunt works, and the different ways games implement it into their combat system, Anet used the term taunt, it’s taunt (aggro management).
“In this expansion, we wanted to open up gameplay options using taunt. Taunt will be used to both reposition foes and change your foes’ targets.”
either way real good stuff.
Wardrobe slot item.
Some system (gem store item) that allows one extra Wardrobe slot per purchase so a player can choose out of combat to swap his chosen Wardrobe style with one click.
said item could be bought and used to reach up to 5 different Wardrobe setups, this would also encourage players to buy more transmute stones if they can arrange 5 different wardrobe setups.
Perfect the art of training mobs into them (if you can), they tend to no longer be afk when you do.
This is a thorough joke I hope? this community’s pvp side is more toxic then any I’ve ever seen before.
Game after game I meet name callers, general cussers people who think they are absolutely magnificent and feel the need to rub that in everyone’s faces galore(those are the worst.)
PvE maybe!
PvP not by a long shot, the amount of times I’ve reported people should be so many by now I should ask Anet to pay me for it. No wonder Anet doesn’t support this side of the community, I wouldn’t have either.
sorry had to post this, the claim just amuses me to no end.
Stay out of the “esport” and dungeon meta and it’s one of the best communities out there.
The dungeon meta crowd is not mean. They even organize and run a guild designed to teach people the meta. The post guides and videos to dungeons on the web, freely accessible to everyone. Even those not in their guild or group.
Like there are jerks in PvP, open world PvE, and WvW, there are jerks in dungeons.
Don’t label the entire community for the behavior of a few.
It’s not a label, but generalization of a segment of the community that holds true through personal experience, forum posts, and the meta that drives it.
So when someone says the dungeon segment of the community is not much better, it doesn’t mean every player of that segment. Out of the game modes Spvp & dungeons do receive the most complaints because they’re a meta driven content in a play how you want game.
Odd this has to be explained in the first place, if I read your post right.
anything that opens up play from 5 dps specs in a party, is a move in the right direction. if this can make other roles useful, then i’m ok w/ it
It’s not like what you’re thinking. It’s just another type of CC. It’s not going to be like a typical taunt from other MMOs to tank with. First, there’s just not going to be a ton of access to it in skills to hold “aggro”. Second, in dungeons the bosses have defiance that negates CC. It will never take the place of Deep Freeze on the ice bow.
Not to burst any bubbles, well yeah I guess I am. Nothing will change in dungeons.
and probably why we’re not seeing any emphasis on the old dungeons of release, or hearing anything about new ones. Taunt is a form of cc in other mmo’s, I’ve played hot potato many of times.
not to burst your bubble but assuming Anet is working HoT around content like dungeons is quite a lot to assume. I also don’t think Anet will ever go towards a hard trinity like WoW, but I can see them breaking away from the current meta mold.
Not to worry though meta dungeon runners will always have their dungeons from release to zerker in.
(edited by Wetpaw.3487)
Really? Taunt? What’s with you dev’s? Its not WoW, not L2, its game with unique experience, where we don’t need tank/healer/damage dealer trinity.
I’m curious, who are you to tell the Anet devs on how to approach their game? I’m really liking this direction, and I can’t wait to hear more. I do hope we see a GW2 soft trinity become more prevalent in gameplay, and I hope the profession masteries are the answer to this.
Calling friends that left the game long ago due to the lack of any trinity esque combat and pointing them towards this blog.
We have no idea what kind of encounters we have coming to HoT, or the direction Anet wants to take their esport/pvp. What we do know is the lack of interest to expand upon the dungeon style meta we see today.

What Tom said, big fan of Nvidia gpu’s, and Intel cpu’s. All honesty you got it at Bestbuy, and they have a pretty good return policy I would just get your money back.
If you enjoy mmo’s or PC games in general I would suggest building your own, especially if it’s your first time doing it. In the long run it will be a far better investment and cheaper to build/upgrade.
Read a few guides, watch a few youtube videos, and read a ton of comments on parts through Amazon, NewEgg.com, and tigerdirect.com (to name a few), compare prices and build your own machine.
I would also check out these forums and ask for advice, a very helpful community.

These were the steps I had taken to build my 1st w/little help, and would never buy a prebuilt tower again.
best of luck.
I would like to see forced wp after 1 min of not being rezzed at cost with an addendum. If you are forced to wp you are shunted to another shard and lose credit for participating in the event. This would solve the tag and afk mentality of a lot of these event farmers who leech off the population actually trying to complete it.
I like this idea. I usually run the South Hills or South boat, and I always announce to party first priority is to train mobs onto the afk players right away, no tequatl burn for them unless they WP and run back.
My bow has plenty of pk’s in this PvE environment.
I think I did south hills with you during some PUG run because I remember this happening exactly as you describe. I would also be lying if that didnt help plant the seed of what I suggested.
Ya, kinda have to. Tequatl easy if the defense groups can kill/keep krait off the guns. AFK’s by south hill WP to t1/t2 can easily spawn multiple champs, and usually it’s still not a big deal…but you get a champ Krait Hyp+champ grub it can get very sketchy.
Only answer is to train mobs into afk’s for the PK, and miraculously they’re no longer afk and wp out.

An option of rarity to sell would be nice. I sell grey, blue, and green everything to the vendor.
I can’t speak obviously for any other player…but LS is on break, expansion is on the horizon, no WvW tournament, and Dragon Ball is meh.
I login for Tequatl (and that fills a few shards full) two times a day and that’s it. Orr not much of a used zone anymore…Silverwastes instead.
Kind of a break period.
(edited by Wetpaw.3487)
All these threads reflecting the PvE dungeon segment of the community are great as of late, I hope Anet (and new players) pay attention and continue to ignore/develop this part of the game.
Back well over a year ago+ when I farmed out fotm/dungeons I would screenshot the group before we began, kickers got reported plus screenshots sent to Anet. Not sure now, but before when you got kicked you lost any previous party messages and names, so ss at the start of the party is the way to go. Anyone getting into this scene I suggest do the same, and report these harassers in full detail.
Kicking a player should only follow after a period of time when a player is afk, or abusive. Otherwise run with your guild if you believe others are not up to par.

So, as the title says, I have an idea about World Completion to make it account-wide.
My idea is that Anet gives us the option to unlock ALL the vistas, WP’s, PoI’s, Renown Hearts (=World Completion),… but you lose ALL the rewards (including experience, Skill Points, cash, karma, Gift of Exploration,… and the rewards for completing a map)
So the player can choose if he wants World Completion by the unlock option or by completing the maps on his own.
The requirements to activate this unlock option are:
- Having a character that already has World Completion (by exploring it on his own)
- Being level 80 on the character you want to unlock World Completion on (not sure about this one really)I think something like this could be the solution for players who are tired of completion maps just for World Completion. People who want to complete the maps to get the rewards and level up that way are free to do so (they just ingnore the option or unlock World Completion whenever they want later on).
It’s a Win -Win and it looks a like fair deal to me. Anet can make an item like ‘Map of Tyria’ that your character (that already has World Completion) passes through to your other characters to unlock World Completion. They even can make it a GemStore item to make us pay for it.
I’d love to see what you guys think so please give me some feet back !
I think it’s a great idea, I would opt out in a second. Ran map completion two times, no way I would do it a 3rd.

I enjoyed WoW skins for my time playing Vanilla-end of Wrath, Raid and PvP, but I enjoy GW2 armor also. If I could frown upon any would be medium, and light. My Ranger main I mix&match, and my two light armor mules sit in The Ruined City of Arah gear since launch pretty much.
But mix&match is the way to go in this game, check out this thread it has been going for awhile, I know I have posted a few times over its duration.
