A bad player is to play with other “bad” players. If you know you’re going to get kicked/laughed at by groups with the desc “5+ AP, Zerker only” then why join them?
I don’t see anywhere in his/her post stated what your statement describes…
“and have gotten ranted at by someone for only having “2k+ AP” (when they joined my instance when I asked for help)”
and not all meta/achievement elitists post your description when looking to form a group, or join a group.
and that still doesn’t justify harassment of players when a simple kick or explanation in a civil manner could relay expectations just as well.

fast forward to 14:10, open world dueling asked, and answered.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jy7CcwnfUdU&feature=youtu.be&t=13m24s
Im going to take a leap and assume this is in regards to PvE dungeon running? In my experience it’s probably one of the worst segments of this community…of course this doesn’t mean all either.
From your post it sounds like you’re giving it your all, so my suggestion would be to find a guild that fits your playstyle, stop pug’n. It may take some time finding this new guild, but in the end far more beneficial.
Disregard any comments about achievement points, as they mean absolutely nothing. I sit at 12k and have been playing since day one, I don’t chase pointless grinds, collections, or any other activities that I deem not worth my time. Those points have nothing to do with how well you play, but what you do when you play, and many if not most of those achievement are just grindfests for the players that find that content fun.
hope it helps alleviates some of your concerns.
(edited by Wetpaw.3487)
A Gurubashi esque arena, and open world dueling I would be all for it. Open pk? naw, won’t work with this game.
Im curious what happens to our skill points, and their relation to the mastery system?
I was in a PvP match earlier, while a toxic nature occurs naturally in pvpers this one in particular annoyed me.
This guy was hating on a Guild from the enemy team. Saying how the leader was trash and how the guild was bad.
Then he went on to say some of the members were probably alright, but how their Guild leader was a tool and all this stuff.So I responeded along the lines of ;
Why do you even care? What does it matter how other people play and what they are doing?
The person from the guild was to his credit completely ignoring the troll. But I have always wondered this. Who cares how other people play? I play with great players and sometimes less so experienced players and I’ve never particularly had a go at them for being “bad” I might in a pvp map tell my team to not 3 cap home at the start. But I just don’t understand the hate people have for other people playing. When they announced at the HoT unveiling that GW2 had the nicest community I was just like. Urrr what?
MMO communities tend to not be so great. People whine and QQ about everything they can get their hands on. Oh that player is using this weapon instead of that one?HE MUST BE BAD AND I MUST TELL HIM HE IS BAD IN CAPS IN MAP CHAT FOR EVERYONE TO SEE AND THEY KNOW HOW RIGHT I AM AND HOW BAD HE IS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Your PvP comment….well.
and ya, “MMO communities tend to not be so great. People whine and QQ about everything they can get their hands on.”
Yes the trolls and abusive players are no fun, but this is not a rpg it’s a mmorpg, and sensitive players treating this game as their own personal little sanctuary are not that much better.
Thankfully for everyone we have the ignore/block feature.
So this new video is out, and noticed this? It was mentioned that leveling that mastery would increase control, and speed, but maybe the looks also?

+1 for dueling.
I believe it would add tremendous value to the open world. Would be nice to do something like duel when waiting around for 20 mins for a boss to spawn.Exactly my thoughts on dueling also.
If implemented with an opt-out option under settings there should be no complaints from the anti dueling crowd, any complaints afterwards is just for the sake of argument.
With HoT around the corner, and new players joining plus returning players, I can imagine a big push for this feature down the road from the community. I’m also glad to know that Colin Johanson at one time wanted to see this implemented too.
One of the PvP developers recently said they plan to add dueling outside of PvP areas, it just isn’t the highest of priorities.
Nice, with time they will add what they think fits their vision of GW2, and I’m glad for it. Just like the link I posted in my previous post.

I’d love to racechange my charr to races that don’t have clipping issues with 90% of armor in the game and wonky running animation if you don’t have permanent swiftness..
But deleting and remaking, and having to grind up 500 of 2 professions again and having to deal with the GARBAGE new trait system screw that.
I have to agree, I won’t even bother with the new profession coming out let alone remake my main.

Also, I rather look towards the future instead of a 2year old post from a Anet employee we haven’t heard from in over a year. Things change (ascended, gliders, npe, etc..) so can Anet stance if they choose, and find it profitable.
(edited by Wetpaw.3487)
I hope we see Race change down the road, I know a few friends that would come back if they could race change their Asura, and personally I only play a main, I wont make another character, or even buy another character slot, I will race change my main though just to look at something different…probably multiple times during GW2 lifecycle if the option was there.
It would be such a money maker for Anet.
This project was delayed in favor of having the specific folks required to build it skill-set wise working on solidifying the core of the game. You’ll hear more about our ecosystem in the future, but we’re not actively working on this project, in favor of making sure the core game itself is as fun and rewarding as possible.
Edited to add: We’ll discuss what sort of projects we’re doing instead in more detail in the blog post later this week, and even in more detail as the Jan/Feb/March releases get closer.
Thanks for the post and keeping us in the loop, really nice to read details like this.
for your pets I like Jungle Stalker for the might stacks, and a Drake for the Combo: Blast on call (it’s the first ability Drakes do when activated) for PvE.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/List_of_pet_locations
Spotter, Frost spirit & sword/horn(or torch-just got buffed it’s nice combo w/sword-, but a 3rd utility can be used too for fire trap/combo fire). http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Fire_field), sword/axe, healing spring (condition removal, but not to be used to replace a fire field w/water field unless you want to blast it for a aoe heal), SoTW, 3rd utility I like to swap (fire trap, QZ, Sick’em, etc..) depending on the fight, elite RAO, zerk gear.
That is close or may be the meta (PvE dungeon/fotm) now, I don’t run Dungeons & FoTM anymore.
For open world PvE/WvW play as you want and try many things to fit your playstyle (favorite weapon type, stat setup). I enjoy a celest/trap build, and I swap traits, weapons, pets, depending on fights with enough might stacking, & crit (80%) I can get away with.
hope it helps, welcome to GW2~

1. I don’t know. In the PvE world we all share the zones from all servers. Mega server.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Megaserver#Megaserver_system
2. Yes, but you can’t play with them in WvW, just PvE & spvp.
3. Not often, or the one you want.
“Periodically, ArenaNet will offer incentives for players to transfer to lower population worlds, including waiving transfer costs.
During WvW tournaments, Arenanet will change the pricing to encourage movement to lower-ranked servers and discourage people from transferring to better-ranked servers just for the tournament rewards.”

Guilds do provide a bunch of perks as you level gathering, loot, exp, wvw teams, guild missions, etc..not a must at all though to rush into for. Find a guild w/similar interests as you go and it should fall into place.
and you can be in multiple guilds at one time, unless a guild requires 100% rep.
I hope to see some shape shifting from our utility, and elite slots for zerg play. It would be nice if we do shapeshift that our pet will stay active to fight along side us.
“the Druids actually shed their physical bodies to become one with nature. The Druids now exist as spirits, appearing similar to Oakhearts.”
Power Ranger, Staff/scepter cond necro, Mesmer GS (based off previous comment, I don’t have experience there), Range War, and possible more will open up with the mastery system.
Anything range will give you a nice reaction/buffer time.

At no point was it announced that it is a legendary staff. For all we know, it may be a Druid related weapon.
I have had that bookmarked for over a year now, already have my clovers, t6, and gift of exploration….my Druid is ready!

Head: Wintersday Ear Muffs
Shoulders: Stalwart Shoulders

I have a ritual for my Ranger on game day by using/naming my Hawk “Seahawk”, and swapping my colors.

No.
Stop these threads.
If you don’t like it, you have tons of copy and paste options out there.
But this is not one of them.
Time to bookmark this thread to recall later when Anet makes certain roles like healing have more emphasis, along side “no vertical gear grind, go play WoW” Ascended, and “We have WP’s go play Archeage/WoW if you want mounts” Hang Gliders threads.
Just get a few levels of every profession(not sure what level exactly unlocks the mists spvp icon on the top left of your UI, I believe it’s lvl2) and teleport to the Mists. Your character will be boosted to lvl 80 w/everything unlocked, and weapons a few silver each. It should help find the playstyle you enjoy.
For PvE I always would run 1h sword/x, Spotter, Frost, Jungle Stalker (f2 might stacks), Salamander Drake (Combo Finisher: Blast, Drakes only ones w/Blast, & timed well Blast on call), Stability, cleanse, SOTW, FT, QZ. I would swap utility depending on the fight.
WvW I run Celestial builds, jumping specs depending on what I feel like doing Sniper/pierce zerg play, solo gank, havok. One of my pets is always Wolf, w/a well timed fear off a cliff, or 2sec knockdown always comes in handy. After the fun play was removed from “Guard” I like to keep my pets close to me, they seem to do better when I treat them as a extension of my Ranger instead of pathing up a storm in slow motion behind a target.
Hope it helps, the Ranger makes an ok alt, but great main if you delve into it.
No. Not sure why you want that back. It’s awful. Especially as dps sitting in a queue waiting and waiting for a tank or healer. It’s miserable. I mean part of me really misses being a healer. But in the end, it’s probably for the best to do away with that.
Not speaking for dungeons, but LS, open world events, Raids?, I would Like to see more of an emphasis on healing. Not in the trinity form as a player sits in the back healbotting w/a tank holding threat, but in the GW2 fashion. Fights and situations where dodge, cleanse, area avoidance, and block are just not enough, and bringing a few healing/support builds is actually beneficial.
Certain satisfaction helping out friends and players in that role.
So what you are saying is that you want your healing to be required (mandatory)? That’s what it means for “dodge, cleanse, area avoidance, and block are just not enough, and bringing a few healing/support builds is actually beneficial”. That means healing is required if professions cannot survive without it “not enough”. No thank you on your back door trinity inroads. Why is it so hard to either play the game as it was designed or play a game that is designed that way instead? Is it really so important to ruin this game and make it a clone of every other game on the market….just so you don’t have to adapt to this one?
No, I didn’t say at all I wanted healing/support build required, or mandatory. Maybe it was my wording, introduced in way where zerk meta is not enough to bring to future events, and if Anet implements raiding of the sort.
We don’t have to think the WoW holy trinity is the way to go, nor do we need to continue with the same boring zerka meta of standing in a blob blowing up imaginary dps addons. Yes, a lil more goes into it I know, press a key for stability, cleanse, heal yourself if needed, and don’t stand in red, but the lack of growth in the dungeon department over last 2yrs plus should give you good inclination maybe Anet doesn’t think the result was up to their standard?
Try thinking out of the box instead of holding down GW2 to its beta form, your point sounds similar to the cries of no hand gliders (go play Archeage!), gear treadmill (go play WoW, ascended!), etc…of the past.
We also don’t know what kind of mastery abilities we will learn in this new environment of HoT to help us through the challenges we face, we also shouldn’t assume that professional, or zone mastery’s will follow the tired zerker meta we see now.
all I’m saying is try having an open mind, it’s doesn’t have to be always black and white Holy Trinity & Anti Trinity.

Dungeons (& meta) at the forefront of GW2?
(edited by Wetpaw.3487)
I wonder if the new utility, trait, elites, staff have any shapeshifter aspects to them?
(edited by Wetpaw.3487)
I wonder if this is a passive trait (when falling it auto opens), or a triggered ability? and if a triggered ability where does the ability go? utility, elite, new slot bar. I like how he mentioned the ability can be upgraded for better control and speed, maybe the look will change too.
Good info to look forward to.
In the trailer they call this one a “New Allies” at 2:47, not sure if that is one all juiced up on magic, or another humanoid altogether.

I wouldn’t be surprised if it was a fall, early winter release for marketing, physical buy, and holidays.
Anytime before that would be great too
It will be interesting to see what glider options (skins) they will have in the gem store, if they plan to add them to gem store. What a great way to introduce a new travel/mounts ability into the game.

and Centaurs please!
( I will gladly forgo the bottom half of armor)
I’m all for Legendary Armor. I’ve been wanting it since waaaaaay back in 2012. However, Legendary Armor should work, if implemented, like how Legendary Weapons work:
Top tier stats with the option to freely switch the stats out on the fly. The skins should have effects and trails or something along those lines, but thats it.
They should also be obtained in the same way that current Legendaries are, but perhaps with having the option to get a precursor via achievements or something., as well as a random drop like current precursors.
I like your idea of stat swapping and aesthetics, except to obtain that tier level I would like to see our current ascended armor incorporated as a base to build on per piece.
Here’s my human thief SHINOBI with what I dubbed the “Shadow of Ebonhawke” armor combo – which is kind of like a black ops version of the regular gear Ebon Vanguard soldiers usually wore: (also added Ebon Vanguard pic for comparison)
Sneakthief Mask
Shoulder Scarf
Ascalonian Sentry Chest
Rawhide Gloves
Assassin’s Leggings
Assassin’s BootsDyes: A mix of Black/Midnight Ice/Pitch dye for the overall color, and Dust dye for the Head Protector, Arm Braces, Boot highlights…
btw….awesome!

I can’t wait to see all the whining when they announce the level cap increase. They said if they ever did an expansion they would increase the level cap, but people seem to always just put their fingers in their ears and hum when it is brought up…
I would be fine with a raised level cap if ascended and legends gear scale as you level to the new cap.
1) Centaur playable race, or any new race (hope is not high on this one)
2) Race change service in gem store
3) Dueling-Open world
4) Staff for the Ranger

7) New Utility/elite skills, Trait updates.
Everything since you left can be found here http://dulfy.net/category/gw2/ in detail, great source.
Welcome back!
I have been playing the same character since I began GW2 and so it’s the character itself that is important. However, back then, I didn’t really know the differences between Norn or Humans and so I just picked one. I don’t care if I have to redo my personal story, loose racial items, etc. If there was a contract available, I’d gladly pay Anet the cost.
If you don’t care about losing the story progress or cultural items, why not just… make a new character? Because you don’t want to have to level to 80 again? Oh, so you just want an insta-level 80 fully geared, not just a race change.

Many reasons why I wouldn’t want to just start over from my main with the same profession. I can see the race change service being one of their hottest selling services of the year, hell w/all the bad publicity of the NPE/trait system it may even bring back a few veterans.

I’m sure this is something has been brought up before, but i would love to change my thief from human to Sylvari!
800gems in the store relog pick the toon you want to change and go through the customizing process again.
Anyone else agree?
I know plenty of players that would use this service including myself, and few that would come back if the possibility was there. Every mmo I have read about or played has seen great success in this service, I hope Anet can find a way, for the community and another source of revenue.
As for cultural armor, we got the Wardrobe feature now anyhow, it’s all race account bound. Story? race is just another form of a skin anyhow, they could delete my story to my character or keep it, idc.
As for a two year old post, a lot has been done/said and not done since then (ascended anyone). Maybe Anet will update us on their current feelings on this matter at some point in time again.
(edited by Wetpaw.3487)
Forget the story, drop new race in the gem shop + race change feature, problem solved.
I know it’s been discussed at length before as to why a race change option cannot work. IIRC the devs even were saying that because of the PS, it makes changing races impossible. For example, say you are at PS level 30 for a Sylvari, and wanted to make that character a Charr instead. Would you just start the Charr story at level 30? But which story arc? The different story arcs are very different based on the choices one makes in the PS, and cannot be simply transfered over. What about the Order specific missions? In you can choose to help The Vigil, or the Priory. If you choose the Priory, it’s a very different mission then The Vigil one. Also, the character development options are very different per race. For Sylvari, you choose which time of the day you are born, your great hunt, etc. For human you choose which god you serve, what economic class, and your motivation. Again these things cannot be transfered over to a different race.
Treat race as nothing more than a skin being applied, continue the story as is.
Many players don’t care at all about story, and find fun through features like race change more appealing, or enjoy both like me. Two of my characters made it to lvl 80 and never even left LA between level 10-80, and another two characters leveled through WvW/scrolls. Some parts of the personal story jump around now skipping veteran portions (I have read about, have not leveled another character through the story since year one, RIP Tonn).
Unlocked through the gem store MIGHT work, however what about how the new race fits into the lore? The new races PS, and how they fit into the Orders. Kodan for example. While there are a few Kodan in the Pact, or at least considering joining the Pact, would they be able to become The Commander of the Pact as there are so few of them even involved? And so on and so forth. So any new race would HAVE to have those things taken into consideration and be able to fit into the current story before it can ever happen.
Same as I mentioned above, it doesn’t have to fit lore, treat it as a skin…a malfunction due to fotm travel, Asura engineering malfunction gone good, whatever. We already have many things in game that have an odd place in lore and immersion, take for instance minis, tonics, sab, and half the items in the gem store.
I can see implementation in character creation causing a bunch of work, problems, and possibly far more work than it’s worth for Anet, especially when it’s not monetized like it would be through the gem store.
I can see an item in the gem shop like the Total Makeover Kit, but instead would be something like Tengu Race Change Kit, Kodan Race Change Kit, etc..
While many don’t care about the story, There are many more who do. Some of the main reasons many people want new races is to have a new story line, new racial skills, a chance to experience that paticular races culture, etc. If it was just a cosmetic change, then it’s not really adding a new playable race. If such a thing were implemented can you imagine the backlash? “They said they were bringing a new race!! Where is the new starter zone, home instance, racial skills!? Why can’t I create from the start!? It’s false advertising!!! And I have to buy it though the gem store!? What kind of Dolyak excrement is that all about!? This isn’t a new race, it’s a frakking skin!!! Death to Anet and their lies!!!11”
Yeah, just a cosmetic change like that for a race would be a terrible idea.
Good thing nobody would force this upon those that care about that stuff. I could care less about any of the stuff you mentioned, and it seems to work very well for SWTOR players, and a source of revenue for EAbio. Selling race skins in a cash shop for a b2p/f2p model is nothing new.
Ya a few may come to the forum and complain, but it will sell.
