Well written and thought through, thanks for the share.
It would be nice if new, casual, and veteran players all felt they had a place in Tyria. I think GW2 success, and the content produced over that life cycle will depend on that.
The way I look at success seems very distant to what NCsoft/Anet view as success though.

A great read to help reflect truly the direction of this genre, in particular some of the practices done in modern “AAA” mmorpg’s, and to further narrow that scope with the Guild Wars 2 we see today.
How can success be measured in a mmo? Is it the nostalgic 7million clinging to a king? Is it measured in quarterly reports and revenue gains through the easy credit card click? Is it the hype and marketing for the flash in the pan forgotten profit monsters? Do we call it a “niche” game, or “I find it appealing and that’s all that counts” hold any merit?
GW2 came to mind as one of my favorite mmo’s to date; its current vision, and the ripple effect it has as a whole shaping gamers and the industry today.
Is the big bad greedy publishers at fault? or the gamers that have facilitated the scenario we see today?
“I wanted people to have some indication of their own personal merit, based on what they did, rather than where they were born. It’s why I’m not a fan of free-to-play games in which you can simply buy progress.”

The people that put in the hours and created GuildWars2 are amazing; art style, IP, and foundation has carried GW2 since launch.
The management, vision, and execution is another discussion.
“S2 hurtles toward an unforgettable end”
To me that says we’ll have another short block like part 1 and then that will be it for Season 2, anyone else find that? Maybe… S2 will end just after the new year then… EXPANSION?!?!?!? Well we can dream anyway lol
I will take a pass to this LS in hopes my lack of participation will help contribute to the numbers/data of players not taking part in this content, and will lead someday to a no LS scenario.
Expansion, hell yes!
Expansion could still follow the idea of keeping the community within the boundaries of the current game we have now. Update a few zones (like a real living world), rebuild, hubs, add dynamic events, story, personal story, invasions, permanent etc..
When players see xpacs being released 1-3 times in other mmo’s within GW2 life, and NCsoft/Anet cash in showing in return cash shop items, LS, and rehashed holiday events they start to question why they should financially support GW2.
This doesn’t mean they don’t like GW2.
Permanent content from xpac is what I would like to see,
Hype, Marketing, Teasing, Races,Professions, quests, personal story, GvG, mounts, flying mounts, zones changed, invasions, War, PvP modes, loot, mini games, QoL, skills, traits, recipes, housing/guild halls, Dynamic events, WvW updates(alter the map skins), yearly, and a Zeppelin war sky map in WvW.
Granted I don’t expect my personal wish list, but If they think spreading out one contents worth of a xpac across the next 3-5 years in LS is going to get me to open my wallet they’re are wrong.
Both NCsoft titles GW2 and Wildstar have gotten some pretty bad pr, real odd management and vision. I’m sure NCsoft has made a profit, it’s just weird.
Hi all. First topic on these forums. I just wanted to come here and say that GW2 is the best MMO game ever. I don’t care what anyone says. I know there are some people that come on here who bash the game because they are not happy with this or that or want to mention they are “leaving” the game because of this or that but whatever. Maybe they don’t appreciate a good game when they see one and find excuses instead of finding different ways to have fun with it. I want to change the scenery a bit here and say thanks Anet for the best MMO game and experience ever! Keep it up and looking forward to see what’s next in the world of Tyria!
I even still play GW1 from time to time and that is also one of the best game’s ever too!
:)
It’s a one of the best mmo’s out there at the foundation. It just needs new management, direction, and vision…a year ago.
GW2 has its flaws which have been mentioned zillions of times on this forum. I get that. This game is the best non-subscription game on the market. At least you’re not wasting $12 a month on this game!
Have you seen the patch notes for 2.4?
That’s more new content in 1 patch than Guildwars has ever had + everything from next year if they keep going down the same road. I would be so happy if I had to pay GW2 a couple of bucks a month and they would pump out this kind of patches with this kind of content.Oh and btw, housing is not only for guilds anymore, they introduced personal housing in the latest patch, which added tons of other stuff too.
All the content in the world doesn’t matter if you don’t like the content. WoW has entire expansions that for all I want to play them might as well not exist. I can’t talk about FF, specifically, but from what I know, it’s more or less a traditional MMO. I’m here, as a lot of people are, because they don’t like traditional MMOs.
I’d rather play this for 100 years with no new content than a new WoW expansion.
If you havent played XIV, and GW2 extensively; you dont have a point.
Just ignore the troll, he bumps and keeps the very threads he complains about alive. That should explain a lot.
OP is a troll..his ID is xxxx.9562.if he played gw2 for more than 2 years there is no way that 4 digits start with 9….more like less than 3 months
That’s actually very interesting.
I never knew that the digits had any meaning at all…So my Digits are 3265
I played sine beta so like… does this mean I’m the 3265th person who played GW2 since release? Im interested to know. =) Thanks for info!
Same since bwe2
6k hour, almost 10 legendary, 2 year later the game is still almost the same with some minor changes. Even tho the game focus on cosmetic, majority of the good looking/ unique looking ones are lock behind gem store. This is no different than other f2w mmorpg except its pay to look nice.
Well actually…f2p’s have more content, and xpacs.
and best of luck over at FF, I have heard great things about it, plus xpac’s worth of real content. If I had more time I would join ya.
I wonder how much talent has left the company that you will never see it as it was envisioned originally… if at all
Like Carbine, the issue is the vision and management of leads and decision makers, not the talent that’s being let go. I also find unfortunate.
I’m getting increasingly worried about people’s attitudes with this. I’ve seen many people saying things similar to ‘finally, something that tells us who is knocking back so we can call rangers out on bad play’ and stuff, i.e. an excuse for verbal abuse.
My question is this: Is ArenaNet’s intention for this projectile to call players out who use this skill so-called ‘badly’ or is it ArenaNet’s intention for this skill to let enemy players have a chance to dodge the projectile in PvP & WvW?
I hope the answer is obvious.
I take that verbal abuse from melee blobs with a smile, and could care less if they don’t get their kill a fraction of a second faster w/o my knockback.
I suppose it’s some what nostalgic, I used to love using misdirection on mouthy players on my WoW Hunter, pretty funny watching Vanndar Stormpike one shot them.
Where’s the apology on behalf of Anet for the attempt at a shameless money grab, eh Gaille?
And for your previous poor behavior?
……ArenaNet Forum Communications Team Lead……she has nothing to do with the decisions made by NCsoft or Anet, and nowhere near the top of that totem pole. Express concerns to the guys/gals that continue to lead this game…in the direction and state it’s in now (twitter is a good start, gaming sites, and NCsoft).
You don’t go after the mailman when your cell phone bill comes in wrong, go to the source.
After all the critique which quite often involves people that have outright claimed that they haven’t played for months or even have the game installed I was thinking about the question in the title.
Would it be possible to only allow active accounts (such as having been logged on the last x days/week) to write on the forums? Everyone would still be able to read of course, but I have a feeling it might create a better environment for everyone here if you actually had to actively play the game in order to join in on the discussions.
As seen with the NPE change there were massive amounts of hatred posted, quite much of it from people that didn’t even try it before (either due to not wanting to start over or due to not actually playing anymore).
Any thoughts about this?
(Oh I know people will hate this thread, if only on principle because I created it, but thought it was worth a shot to see what people thought about it.)
If I remember right this game is buy to play, all including with my initial purchase.
They can give warnings and bans for abuse, but logging into the game itself has nothing to do with the fact I paid for this game.
Revenue down, squeeze the community w/o adding anything substantial for us to support.

Keep up the good work NCsoft, I can see your making a great name for yourself with Wildstar and GW2.
Cash shop focused content driven game with elements of an mmo. I’m more surprised at players being surprised by this.
& do you guys really think NCsoft/Anet didn’t go through every suggestion on this forum before implementing this feature, they chose this direction and implementation for a reason, I can tell you it wasn’t to help new players (…ya 80g…right..).
Guild Wars to Guild Wars we know of today, stop feeding it!

Since launch I have got two precursors, four rare pistols, and four exo LB. Adding armor to the mix does open a new return table (chance of gear instead of weapons).
I prefer knowing that if I use four of the same type of item I will get in return that item.
Some advice: Don’t try. When you get rares throw them in your bank, when you have four of the same toss them into the mf, and move on. Eventually you will get one you either wanted or one to sell.

Without Anet numbers on active players, and money spent in gem store who knows? For myself though I have had no real interest to financially support this game in the last 1.5years due to the LS.

LS2So they could sell then. I would love to buy a greatsword or a Hammer skin that looks like a 2 handed Axe, for example. This is very ease to do. If they allowed mods for weapon mods i bet it already be online
They could be waiting to add it all in some long over due xpac too, beef/hype it up.

ele mace?I’m sorry for nitpicking, but why would you put “staff” for Rangers? The most obvious addition for me would be guns and rifles.
The Ranger in GW2 is closer to the Warden archetype “nature magic”, and we could really use a zerg weapon/ability (I would hope staff would be).
“Rangers rely on a keen eye, a steady hand, and the power of nature itself. Unparalleled archers, rangers are capable of bringing down foes from a distance with their bows. With traps, nature spirits, and a stable of loyal pets at their command, rangers can adapt to any situation.”

Also, what races, classes, weapons would you like to see in the game? I myself would love to see Tengu as a playable race and weapon types such as scythes and crossbows.
New races, race change gem store item, Staff for my Ranger, xpac, WvW luv, and I would happily support again.
Wouldn’t bother me a bit
I would hope they do add race change. Great service to add when and if they add new races. Maybe they will add races through a secondary slot similar to costume slot, race slot.
Probably not. The way I see it is in games that do provide race changes, it’s only an option because there are no restrictions made by race choices. Whereas in GW2 there is a very definite portion of the game and a portion of the story journal that is entirely associated with your race and choices you made in the personal story. The amount of work it would take to make this change work is probably phenomenal. It’s not that ANet probably doesn’t want to add this feature, but it’d take one hell of an overhaul to make it even slightly considerable.
I’m sure the revenue from this service would outweigh the time to implement this. Many would even opt in to a full delete of our current race story progress; I only did my story on one out of my four maxed characters anyhow (WvW/craft/boost leveled).
I do enjoy the idea of costumes changing your race (like the recent gemstore addition legs change), I would hope though to retain choice of armor skins. Race slot sounds fun to me, but like you mentioned may be too large a goal.

hey atleast they’re not cash shop focused, bring it on Mickey!
“In most games, you go out, and you have really fun tasks, occasionally, that you get to do, and the rest of the game is this boring grind to get to the fun stuff. ‘I swung a sword. I swung a sword again. Hey! I swung it again.’ That’s great. We just don’t want players to grind in Guild Wars 2. No one enjoys that. No one finds it fun.” ~ A Sword Swinging Backpeddler
And people wonder why Anet won’t talk to them. A quote from a four year old video is still being quoted today and used as a weapon of sorts.
Anet should just shut up and stop saying anything. It might come back to haunt them.
They’re doing a pretty kitten good job of shutting up and just making changes on a whim without actually consulting the ones that are paying them, and of course using you as a conduit for what they are thinking and then attempting to get others to ignore the massive elephant in the room, since that’s all you seem to do around here.
Anet isn’t using me. Get that straight. Just like others profess to care about this game, I care about this game too. But I also care about being fair. I don’t think most people do.
Are you saying no changes in this patch have been asked for?
Well I take a nice 3 month break and come back to read this feature pack of meh, Vayne still white knight (thought you quit the forums months ago?), and a content drop not til November…so it looks like nothing has changed except items in the cash shop, pass.
Pretty much, killing time til WS release. Logged in yesterday to see if anything was exciting and new w/the Four Winds (didn’t expect anything new or better), pass, been there done that.
Did see they finally added a good looking hammer skin (Phoenix). I have had one ticket sitting in my bank for the last few months, it had taken me World completionx2 and saving every random key drop since day one of release to muster one ticket so I bought it! Then I logged cause their was nothing exciting to smash w/it.
I beat GW2, first time I can say that about a mmo. I may log to do some WvW sometime this week, but looking at the same maps since release gets real old.

It’s hard to believe you folks still being surprised by this great LS design, and how loot is distributed in this game is tied to the cash shop, like almost everything else.
Your answers are directly tied to the gem store.
As much as your post makes sense when it comes to time & reward, visual cues, & difficulty rewards it’s all to funnel you (masses)to one place. You even point out lower tier mats not giving the feeling of a reward due to your crafting being 400+, but as you know Ascended lvl500 (BiS) uses lower tier mats.
Just take a second and visualize those 250+ items (rewards) in the gem store were added to the ingame content as rewards, would you then feel rewarded? Would you feel rewarded if all those armor sets & rng box weapons dropped from world bosses and fotm? If minis & costumes dropped from dungeons? If harvesting tools & toys dropped from PvE? If finishers & dyes dropped were rewards for PvP/WvW?
or maybe you just don’t feel rewarded because the game in the last year has giving you little to accomplish content wise to feel rewarded. Simple mechanics, rehashed holiday/festivals, southsun cove, easy world bosses, champ trains, LS zerg’n, mostly the same dungeons since release, Legends that can be bought w/RL cash, achievement hunting, and temp content.
Gw2 is probably one of the best looking mmo’s to date, has great animations, unique design philosophy, and great potential. But it’s hard to swallow knowing that if this was a sub model mmo + services like sex, race, makeover, name changes, & server transfers we would have seen an overall better quality game and content.
Yes I am aware they use lower level mats. Common mats however. Fine not really. Cooking is the exception to this.
Also my feeling on the topic was not that they should stop dropping them in game. It was more of they don’t feel rewarding. How can we make them feel rewarding. How can we make the system and drops we have now feel more rewarding. Because while I think rewards are uneven in some areas. (Feel free to discuss that I am interested on what people think on specifics there. ) I think the majority of the problem is that the game does not feel rewarding as we are not given cues that it is rewarding and the majority of things we get rewarded by happen over time as apposed to oh lookie rare drop. I also don’t think that is a bad thing that rewards happen over time. On the contrary I like it that way.
It is also to ask the players who state that they don’t feel rewarded “How do you like your loot.” Meaning do you like rewards over time. Do you like the feeling of a rare drop. Or shall there be a mixture of both.
As for the gem store. This discussion is about rewards in game if you want to talk about what/if they would drop anything from the gem store in game that is on topic
I’m right there w/you on rewards over time, as someone who used to raid and do arenas I understand the lengths and wait times for that great reward. The difference in this game though is vast.
For example killing Tequatl for 5months almost every day (missed maybe a week total) w/nothing to show for it, or rewards tucked beneath achievements in LS & the achievements alone are hardly rewarding in the form of content, and fotm rng reward system. For me it’s the fact you’re not earning or working towards most rewards, you’re relying on rng or lackluster mini games and pve zergs, big difference.
WvW tourney for myself is a nice example of a reward system I enjoy, not necessarily that it is tied to the achievements, but I participated and feel I earned it solo and as a community. Even after crafting two legendaries I did not get that feeling of reward that the tourney accomplishment gave. Why? Even though I didn’t buy either precursor it was rng luck based, and the fact that anyone can just buy a crafted legend didn’t help either.
As for visual cues in some form for general loot, I’m not sure that would change the feeling of reward in the current state, it matters little if I got a visual cue I got a grey-exotic, or even t6 materials in any form of content. They’re just going into the MF, TP, Salvage, Vendor anyhow.
(edited by Wetpaw.3487)
There has been a lot of talk recently about the lack of rewards of the game in general. I often feel this effect myself. But I continually ask myself. Am I just not seeing the rewards I am actually getting. Is the game actually rewarding me or is the loot really that bad. To help me determine if the loot is really that bad I ask myself a few questions.
1.) What do I consider a good reward? How often should I feel rewarded.
2.) Should time or difficulty dictate how I am rewarded.
3.) How much gold per hour should I expect to earn from selling loot and drops?
4.) Is my perception of my reward influenced by a goal I am aiming for?
5.) Perhaps my magic find is too low.
Based upon those and attempting to have rational logical thought about the matter I have come the the conclusion. Yes there is a problem with the loot on two fronts the indication that you are getting rewarded well and the fact that gold income outside of dungeons is low. Here is how I answered the questions.
I consider rares and exotics as well as tier 6 mats good rewards for a level 80. I do not consider guaranteed drops of a rare to have the same feeling as a mob drop of a rare. While I know I get Tier 6 materials I don’t know that I am getting them. It is hard to tell the difference between a Tier 6 and a Tier 5. Perhaps tiered materials need to have a rarity signal of their own.
I think rewards should be based upon difficultly not time. However I think time and the type of event should also be a factor. I think the Gold rewards should not be just 1-3 silver for all events. World and group events should reward more. Living story events that are designed to be difficult or take group coordination should also reward more.
I feel that I should get anywhere between 5-10 gold per day with a small amount of that coming from dungeons. I don’t think that anyone should be expected to run more then 1-3 dungeons per day. I think fractals should reward more then dungeons. To be honest I don’t know how much I get per day so I can’t say if I am getting rewarded close to what I expect I should get.
Also I find that my perception of rewards is greatly effected by what I think is rewarding. As most of my crafting is past 400 now I no longer feel rewarded on the lesser tier materials.
Then again maybe my magic find is just too low. I am currently at ~87
That is my view. What is your view?
TL;DR There is a loot problem in my opinion. How do you want to be rewarded? What do you feel is a good reward?
Also do not bring up the gem store or converting gems to gold in this post. It is off topic.
“Also do not bring up the gem store or converting gems to gold in this post. It is off topic.”

As long as companies will think that people addiction is worth more than people affection, that place will never exist.
The funny thing is that if they were not so greedy, all of us could experience playing wonderful games.
It’s hard to blame the company for this, as easy as it would be, it’s not their fault.
The fault falls on the pro f2p/b2p cash shop focus mmo players, as long as the demand is there we will always see a supply.
In the last 4-5 years U.S. (NA) gaming industry have seen a wave of games introducing the cash shop focus due to the acceptance of the players using those services. What was once popular in the east has infected the mmo industry over here.
As long as we have players crying over a measly $15/month a sub model mmo’s as a form of revenue for content focus and longevity in a mmo we will continue to see subpar mmo’s w/a cash shop focus.
Now granted some sub model mmo’s are not worth their sub, but that falls on the publisher and developers rushing for the quick cash grab knowing full well the cash shop would be an available accepted successful backup.
So if you want to pass blame, pass it to the mmo players, maybe someday they will take the blinders off.
(edited by Wetpaw.3487)
Been away from the game for a while as I didn’t like how it was being fashioned more for hardcore WoW raiders.
I was coming back for a look to see how the game is progressing & what Im seeing is old rehashed content.
Meanwhile the whinging raiders who constantly complained about champ trains & anything else that helped a casual make some progress are being pandered to at the expense of everyone else.
Devs need to get off their knees in front of these ppl & get back to what your original vision was.GW2 has left its original fanbase wanting & is now a poor manifestation of a great concept left pandering to the crowd from another game.
1. There’s nothing hardcore in this game, nothing.
2. The hardcore complained about champ trains? Take the blinders off, just like the world boss schedule change, & the Living Story it’s all tied to the gem store. Every decision made in this game is gem store focused.
3. Welcome to a game w/a cash shop focus, maybe players will finally understand this kind of mmo model. Free does not equal good.
Yup agree, been there done that.
We do you guys think the quality of an expansion would be any better than the quality of the LS? They released an expansions worth of content, for free, and you guys complained about it.
I’m sorry your past mmo experiences have set such a low standard, not sarcastic, I really mean that.
Free does not mean good, and like GW2 almost every mmo has done the Living Story too in between QoL, balance, & expansion packs…they call them holiday & festivals. Anet has just done these festival/holiday events more while leaving out continual balance & xpacs.
and is it really that bad that players want to pay for a decent expansion, I mean here’s money?
(edited by Wetpaw.3487)
And expansion is a sure fire way to get people to move on from the game.
They released a ton of new content for me to enjoy. How could they do this to me, I’m going to quit..
Said no one ever.
Aren’t people who are complaining about the LS model doing exactly that? Add “and free” “every 2 weeks”, and well… yeah.
People are silly.
“People” generally have higher expectations, my post above lays it out pretty well. Yes it’s free, trust me many of us can tell.
I have played GW2 one and off since around the time it came out and I have 3 80’s with no clue what to do after I get to 80. I really want to get into the game more then just to lvl another character to 80. so I guess my question is can someone point me in the direction of a up to date end game guide for pve and maybe another for WvW, thanks.
PvE
Gem store
Living Story
boss/temple farming
FOTM/Dungeons
Guild missions
Ascended/Legendary crafting gear
JP’s
PvP
WvW Tournament
SPvP
That’s it, same content you did leveling basically.
So when are we getting an expansion..?
This is highly unlikely to happen, especially w/the supportive cash shop Living story fandom Anet has.
Anet has done two really great things w/GW2, marketing & art style.
They have taken a concept that has been around in mmo’s well beyond even WoW, Festival/holiday events, and marketed as some innovative new way to bring life and content to a game.
For example lets use WoW, In WoW throughout the year in between expansion packs they have holiday events coinciding with real life events like Christmas, Halloween, etc..than on top of that they have ingame holiday events like midsummer fire festival and Brewfest to name a few. Laying a new skin down in a area of the world w/achievements, activities, rewards,etc.. you get the point.
Even if you didn’t play WoW just about every mmo does these festival holiday “Living Story” events, what Anet has done has taken this concept x10 and market as some innovative new idea testing the waters and directly tied it to the release of content through their cash shop w/the idea of changing certain portions within the game to make it feel like a change to the world.
Unfortunately the permanent changes to Tyria’s topography has been one destroyed city, npc’s added to vigil keep, and a big island to farm of meh. This is why many players believe GW2 has become bland hardly producing any “substantial content”, xpacs.
We have all seen “Living Story/festival/holiday events” in mmo’s a decade plus before, the difference is that content was introduced between expansion packs and constant balancing/QoL updates.
Really quite brilliant of Anets marketing team, reminds me of the term “Kansas City Shuffle” from the movie Lucky number Sleven.
(edited by Wetpaw.3487)
I run with my guildmates and we sometimes take on a pug who sometimes asks “y no stack?” The best response from my guild matewas, “cos we’re not cowards”. Think we were doing AC spider queen. Then proceeded to fire off our combos and tear the queen limb from limb.
When I LFG, I usually make sure to add “no stacking, killing everything in sight” and it fills quickly with people who are of the same mind. Do the dungeon the way it was meant to, not the fastest way possible.
One AC run, did all paths, slaughtered everything that didn’t respawn. We’d skip the mobs in the Tzark path when you clear the hall of burrows since they’re unending. Hell, we even killed all the gravelings in the various corridors. Now that was fun.
My guildies and I are like this. I put things like ‘casual’ ‘non skipping’ ‘non running’ ‘non stacking’ ‘be prepared to massacre everything’ in our lfg descriptions, and the number of people that either obviously can’t read, or don’t have any reading comprehension is concerning. It’s gotten to the point where we just 3 or 4 man the paths, unless we absolutely need a pug (which isn’t often).
Anet built the combat in this game w/stacking in mind,

if they are going to announce the expansion on christmas 2014 this is gonna be the first so called triple A mmo without expansion after 28 months and who knows when the expansion actually hit, it could go over 28 months. i think this is very bad for business unless they release good amount of content during LS2. if LS2 is going to be like ls1 which was not received very well by players you will see more lost in income than Q1 2014.
for now gw2 is still doing fine.
Also have to take in consideration players leaving for WS, AA, and WoW all release this year too. I don’t believe in the term “mmo killer”, but I think it’s pretty safe to say some of the player base will not give LS2 a chance as they will give these other games a try, return, or over GW2.
Without comparing to any other games I can put it this way.
GW2 has been out for 19months, if I had stopped playing the last 12months and came back today I could have cleared all the permanent content added in the last 12months in a weekend maybe two.
With laurels already saved and gold/skill points ascended can be knocked out fairly quick.
Changes to WvW are in a good direction, but the content itself is the same.
EOTM well, the new karma/loot train.
FOTM, I already played it enough pre change to have 8 fotm weapon skins and lvl 44.
Edit: To answer your LS question, I doubt it at this point. I hope I’m proven wrong. I played and gave LS1 a 100%, poorly written, untested and buggy, zergfests, achievement farming, directly tied to the release of gem store content.
Take in consideration this coming LS2, now remove all the recurring holiday events we have already done (some multiple times already) MadKing, Wintersday, SAB, Dragon Bash, FourWinds, Queen’s Jubilee, and not too much is left.
and really what is the Living Story? Nothing more than non holiday holiday events. MMO’s have been doing this for the last decade plus, they just did them during the holidays and Anet is doing them mostly throughout the year. What has changed so much in Tyria? Our major hub is now Vigil instead of LA, and a empty island players farm in zergs or do karka few times a day.
other mmo’s have done recurring holidays too, plus expansions worth of content and QoL/balance.

I can see the op point, I do agree endgame in GW2 is skin collections, and since in the last 19months we have seen over 250 items in the gem store that is the end game.
Endgame in GW2 is not best in slot (stats), but best in slot (unique/new skin/item), it’s a matter of replacing stats for skins carrot on the stick.
It also doesn’t help this game has been out for 19months, if I had not played in the last year I could login and finish all permanent added content added within the last year in a weekend or two.
A few things to take in consideration,
Poor design
Many players have ran these same dungeons for 19months now w/almost nothing new
Reward is poor
Stability and zerker go together
Staff is worthless outside of TA, and I suppose might stacking.
Lack of trinity will result group play in always being zerg/stack/dps race.
Teamwork in GW2 means keep yourself up, boon, cleanse, dps as fast as you can.
End game is skins, skins are obtained by gold farming or credit card.
Don’t expect pugs to play like you, run w/guild or friends
I highly suggest you folks that think they don’t have more than enough resources/profit to go around and back to the community in timely substantial content updates google GW2 earnings for NCsoft in the last 19months, you may look at this in a whole new light.
I gave up after 5months straight every day almost (think I missed maybe a week and a half out of that total), I realized when a player gets the taco box their first run that was enough for me.
I did get a water breather, and Tequatl mini I could have bought in the tp for 20g. I don’t collect minis so meh.
Best of luck~
I have got 3 precursors from the Mystic Forge, I know this wont increase your chances but may give you a way to attain one w/o the lost.
My first precursor was just saving every rare weapon I got, I had four pistols, dropped them in got a precursor.
My second precursor was from CoF & TA exotic longbowx4
My third and most recent was from four random rares I collected between WvW & world boss/temples.
The 1st and 3rd method seem harder to come by now as boss farming is a set schedule.
That’s all, just save your first bank space for rares and exos, when bored pull out four drop them in, move on. I have done this method since release.
Farming rng is a loss.
The invalid argument comes from players in this community that constantly say NO to content that retains and brings in new players for the benefit of the game as a whole.
Your own arugment is also invalid – what you see as “retains and brings new players for the benefit of the game as a whole”, others see as “Increasing player toxicity, annoying players to the point of quitting, and breaking the spirit of the game, and reducing the appeal of the game.”
the intention of the mega server is the lower the frustration of separating players on servers, now we can play together without guesting or switching servers, no other reason.
And it’s been a terrible screwup at that.
Sounds like the Internet may not be the place for you to find entertainment. So you must be completely ok with,
GWEN
FOTM elitism
PvE karma farmers in eotm
Group kick feature
Annoying costume brawls in major hubs
Meta profession PvE dungeon runs
Dungeon Path selling
The great community building we have seen through LS events
Champ trains
PvE players in WvW map completions and achievement hunters
Yes I have seen the “Toxic” nature within this game you speak of, the difference being a matter of opinion that you think some of these features don’t justify the time of day because you don’t want them.
and the mega server was added because this game outside of gem store sales has taken a big hit in the gameplay department due to players leaving and not coming back, servers were ghost towns except the top four or so and it gave a bad impression to the truth. Mega server was a good idea from Anet, and due to their direction the last 19months a much needed one.

Why does some of this community continue to think of Anet as some mom & pops business bringing in a couple hundred thousand w/a handful of employees working out of some bodega size shop?
Google is your friend and I suggest you use it, they can and do have the resources for all of it. You may and probably will be completely baffled once you see the money they have made over the last 19months w/the content & features we have seen.
Much better to get housing than to waste developer time on useless PVE dueling or other such stupidity.
Your name followed by that comment is very fitting.
As for housing goes the only way we will see this added is in the form of instances, unfortunately it could never be added the way Archeage has done out in the open world.
I have lil to no interest in instanced housing as it defeats the purpose of this sandbox esque feature in the way I enjoy playing.
But considering we have seen development time focused on over 250 items in the gem store, Anet having around 300* employees, and their last quarterly earnings, it’s fair to say even if I wouldn’t care other players would love it.
Like many other permanent features and content needed in this game to retain players, I’m all for it.
