They have by far the highest speed in terms of mobilities, in the game.

Giving them access to these increase speed, will sabotage Arena.net missions for this game which is to enforce balance; although they’re slowly getting there.

Do you read each class forums and understand other class dilema about them?

In the warrior forum; how other classes are complaining how thief OP excessive mobilities is ruining the fun of the game and also breaking the game altogether; there are far too many posts and threads concerning those dilemas.

To put it in simplar words;

If Arena.net were to impliment 25% speed increase accross the board, those classes alone would completely break the game and totally destroy the fun in the game.

Since in gw2 beta till this day, i’ve been advocating for “the little guys”; the less advantage classes to be up par with "the big guys’,; the superior classes.

So i can find where that 25% speed increase would help benefit the less advantage classes. Perhaps not entirely implimented on one tool but to spread in other tools; like traits, skilss etc…

I hope i make myself much clearer.

Actually a player since BWE2, level 80 Guard, Necro, War, Ranger, & a 57 Thief.

I think you’re being a lil over dramatic over those mentioned classes in your post, many of those classes already trait or signet 25% anyhow, I highly doubt it’s the reason of these horrible imbalances your crying about in the first place.

Removing traits, utility, and runes w/the 25% passive speed increase and just making it passive at a certain level would be better in WvW&PvE imo.

as far as a Thief goes, it’s a Thief get used to it. Masters of stealth and the surprise 1vx encounters, nothing new in mmo’s.

No offense or disrespect taken on your opinion, no matter how contradictory your post is to those statements.

Current passive standard speed is ridiculously slow, freeing up these traits, utility, and runes could help balance. Other mmo’s have done it, and even ncsoft new mmo will have a standard run speed, ability boost to speed, and shift key grants a short duration sprint.

25% passive is attainable by all professions through runes, may as well make this the standard at a certain level. Free up traits, and utilities for combat balance.

If anything making this a standard passive speed (not sprint) helps with balance by making it a constant variable instead of a unknown variable in builds.

The new heal (next Living story) for ALL professions is a good start to this idea, same with doing away w/reduced fall damage traits by making it a standard for all classes at a certain level instead.

Free up some utility

Overall would make the game much more fun w/o breaking anything. I have seen it in other games, how about this one?

Maybe a lvl20 reward?

Have to agree with the poster about TTS fights taking alot of time to set up, that’s a bummer, but also indicative of the huge number of people still willing to participate. Their first overflow often fills within 5-10 minutes of opening but I’ve still had quite a few kills on secondary overflows. Still.. Even with that time spent hanging around in Sparkfly, it’s been a much more productive angle than the unorganized attempts over the first week of the patch. Not for everyone I understand but a really good option if you have a little time to spare to get an almos guaranteed kill

I just want to pop in and say as far as I know this way is the best way (w/TTS), and yes plenty of times has it ran into anywhere from 3-6 OF. The problem is not TTS obviously, it’s showing up early enough to get into a TTS OF so as not to be in a OF w/a bunch of trolls or pugs creating a wipe (yes I have seen trolls take guns and fail this on purpose, or a bunch of pugs brilliantly going afk by south turret).

The problem is having to make time and stand around (depending on the day of the week) 1-2h prior to Tequatl spawn. That means a 10m fight, 2h waiting and prep.

Now I wouldn’t have a problem so much if the loot was worth it, but 99.9% of the time its a kick in the face.

The solution I would like to see is a token system added to the ascended drop, so even if the rng gods don’t favor you , you still can eventually buy a Tequatl ascended from a vendor. This would atleast give the carrot on a stick to bring players back.

I have killed him around 30x (thanks to TTS), the problem is not killing him, the problem is taking time out of your day to stand around in a overflow so to get in w/your group to kill him.

You pretty much got to make yourself available to stand around for a minimum of one hour doing nothing prior to spawn, to kill him 30x+ for nothing but a few lousy exotic accessories or a rare underwater mask.

The drop % is horrid, maybe one ascended every 2kills…

Why is it that players insist on triggering noisy and/or screen shaking powers or conduct the various activities like the costume brawl or ringing their bell or simply running through crowds of players gathered at a vendor, bank, TP or MF? I can understand with the brawl needing other players to participate but why right on top of one these areas if not to be annoying prats about it. Why swing your hammer and thump the screen continuously in the middle of one of these groups?

In terms of griefing it’s minor but in terms of annoying it’s right up there with fingernails on a chalkboard. They are seriously damaging my calm!

I titled the post this way because it reminds me when little kids decide the best time to be noisy and chaotic right on top of you is when you’re on the phone for instance.

Unfortunately some parents use the internet (games/mmos) as a babysitter, usually this is the product of that, or the product of that when they are older. It’s kinda like a child or adult that never got that emotional bond/attention from their parents, acting out for attention in a negative way. Pretty sad actually.

Good thoughts, too much work for devs to do really.. Still haven’t fixed bow mechanics / pet f2 mechanics etc yet. If it were to change in this direction, it wouldn’t be for a long time, talking 6 months minimum for changes on this level.

I believe you’re right, unfortunately. One can only dream, taking the effort/time to make these sort of changes would be to much, just hurts to see my pets perform so poorly a year after release.

Taking in other post ideas, and a simpler approach, maybe stow pet could actually have some worth. Stow pet (stay stowed) would increase sbow/lbow dmg/speed by X%, in addition preparation utilities from GW1.

I’am glad you’re enjoying the profession, been on my Ranger since BWE2…yes I have leveled the War, Guard, & Necro but always seem to head back to my Ranger. Not sure about mundane, just that the pet mechanic is pretty broken this far out after release in many aspects of the game (leveling pve you will not see this).

But overall I still hold an optimistic view of the Ranger, at the end of the day it’s what you think is fun =).

I’ve considered making a necro too as it’s the class I used to like the most in GW1 xD. I heard they’re sorda o nthe same boat as rangers in that they aren’t very pvp viable, but like you said, fun factor!

My Necro is also in my favorites to play. As far as pvp goes the Necro is pretty boss in spvp & wvw, very fun pvp class. Rangers do pretty well in pvp too outside of a zerg.

I would play these two classes over many others when it comes to pvp actually.

Regarding Remorseless, now that it can be triggered by going into stealth, it would be nice to have the option to gain stealth by other means than the longbow (and the passive trait).
One thing could be to allow the jaguars F2 to affect the ranger also, as that would go well with the intentions to improve the support aspect of our pets as well. Just an idea.

Agree, hopefully we see this change coming soon. A grandmaster trait should have a few more uses then one ability on the longbow and 20 in Wilderness survival.

I always thought jaguar should have been a master & pet stealth, or possibly a group support AE stealth.

Remorseless atm is kind of broken, stealth>oh crap my pet is dead and is standing right next to me….the pet archetype does not play well at all w/the current marksmanship/skirmishing Archer playstyle.

It won’t stop anyone. In South Korea, they have people’s social security numbers tied to their online identities and trolling is pretty horrible there.

Blizzard tried to enforce real name on forums, it got so bad that the President of Blizzard had to go on the forums and apologize for the decision.

Basically it will never happen, and even if it does, it won’t work.

I remember when Blizzard was going to implement that, never seen a company move so fast to backtrack out of something.

Ya, but I doubt I’am the first to think this idea up. Crossed my mind when I seen the devs talk about improving shouts & pet support abilities.

Going in Marksmanship and possibly skirmishing (Remorseless) this deep would give the Archer play style, the long distance sniper feeling on the battleground. You would be more fragile but the Archer would have a more formidable presents in this playstyle, forcing your foes to take a strategic path like in other games by eliminating the sniper “Archer”, Remorseless would be a counter that could be very fun.

Archer Grandmaster trait F1 abilities would work similar to how virtues work. When triggered would grant the passive effects (for range) for a short time, while the current triggered effects of spirits would be great for a oh crap scenario (quicksand & solar flare) within melee.

Trapper/Cond spec does not change.

Warden (Beastmaster or support) heads in the right direction w/current dev talk of improving shouts and pet support abilities. Marksmanship & Skirmishing pet traits fill the Spirits traits within Nature Magic, allowing you to either choose a pet dmg build or a pet support build.

Everyones happy, Archetype of the Archer Ranger is fulfilled, and the players that enjoy aspects of the Warden and Beastmaster profession are fulfilled.

after that all I want for Christmas is to use a Staff on my Support Beastmaster.

Eagle eye is removed- Longbow and Shortbow range has been increased by 5%

Remorseless- Remorseless been moved to Skirmishing to replace removed pet traits.

Marksmanship- New Grandmaster trait Archer- Longbow and Shortbow dmg & speed has been increased by X%. Pets can’t be summoned when unlocked. Your F1,2,3,4 have been replaced with aspect of the spirits (similar to Guardian virtues).

Spirits have been removed from Utility & Nature magic tree replaced with support/dmg pet and shout traits from Skirmishing and Marksmanship.

No matter what class you play, or what the classes are capable of, or what weapons they can use….

spec and gear for the absolute highest DPS you can get, to the exclusion of any and everything else. and just hit Q before a big attack.

A buddy and I last night thought we would give this new path a shot for the first time, we are both GS/Staff AH might Guardians (food, dps set, tank set, vent, & Dulfy’s for prep).

We are guildless for the most part so we filled the three spots- Engineer, Ranger, & d/d Ele. It was fun as a whole, we wiped three times, and everyone for the most part was great. Finished it and got our back items.

Great path and lots of fun, til we got to the chests at the end….every one of them was one green item….Will I do this path again sometime? Sure, but not very soon. Yes it was fun, challenging, and rewarding due to the mechanics etc.. but I’am a gamer, I want a princess at the end of my path, a shiny, booty!! Big nadda was kinda lame.

I believe you are correct, fairly easy to get a exo or a cheap pearl exo. But a ascended or legendary no.

So you can use transmutation stones somehow to transfer soul bound weapons/armor from one character to another? What is the process for that?
Is it only for the skin or can a Legendary/Ascended weapon be transferred?

In the crafting area of LA two vendors in some lil huts that sell “white” armor & weapons.
On the toon that the item is soulbound transmute (for example) exotic sword, buy white sword from vendor.
1. Choose the skin of the exotic soulbound
2. choose the stats of the white item bought at vendor
3. choose your sigil
Now it’s accountbound, stick in bank.
Pull out on the toon you want it on, now transmute the item back onto a exotic sword.

Think I just lost a sell for Quip too =(

4. Turned off firewall
5. Sent SS w/support ticket
6. Ran Game advisor, sent in zip

After these last few LS chapters my answer is no, rushed content with poor execution. My answer would have been yes awhile back, but I rather play the game then beta test it at this point.

Tequatl LS is a complete joke, for endgame anet should have taken more time & thought into this content. They could have used this opportunity to bring players back.

A minority crying and moaning about a fight being challenging shouldn’t be a priority. There are tons of people who have loved this fight and it’s about time less casual players got something enjoyable and not overly easy. If you want a game company to respond to every little whine and moan, Blizzard is that way —>

So what you’re saying in your response is conditions are fine large scale, right? The way this was implemented and the scale of players needed has had no ill effect for players leveling, map completion, afk’s, welfare guests camping, parties/guilds participation on a home server, community building, players that paid for a transfer, disconnects, and overflow.

This has very little to do with as you put it “challenging” mechanics of Tequatls fight.

I do believe we will see changes to these issues of conditions, and guesting. I just wish they put a better effort in this release of endgame content, lots of eyes were waiting to see if this was the content to bring them back.

Lets not pretend this is some crew in a studio with minimal funds running the show, this is a millions of dollars well oiled money making machine.

3. Conditions (may I hint the word crit pls)

Community building is what I’ve seen a lot of Wetpaw. Just because you have to get into a different server or overflow doesn’t mean that you have to be a faceless player who just joins, silently participates, and leaves.

It is perfectly possible for people to group up in a VOIP channel, like Blackgate has been doing, and work together as one community or a group of several communities/servers. If there are five low population servers that can only get about 20 people online for Tequatl at a time, they can make a thread and start organizing a gathering of active players from all of those servers and choose a VOIP to coordinate in. They choose a low population server to gather on so that everyone can get in, and work together through voip as several communities working together as one large group to defeat Tequatl.

Blackgate has been running at least two groups at a time, and it’s not just Blackgate that’s here. People from many low population servers have brought their guilds, alliances, and servers together to take down Tequatl. The only people participating in a crappy pug of faceless, uncoordinated players are those who don’t look at the alternatives.

Without guesting, content such as this that requires communities to work together and commanders to lead a large group of people would not be possible for most servers. That’s no reason that it should be stuck into an instance or any of the other alternatives people think will fix everything.

What I’m trying to say is this: Just because you disagree with how the content was implemented does not mean that it requires changing. It can work like this and there are many who enjoy this type of content, exactly as it’s implemented. There can be other challenging content implemented like suggested, but it is possible to do the content like it is, as Blackgate and a few other servers have continued to prove.

Differences in opinion, but I believe you’re in the minority about this one, only time will tell.

I expect one of these will happen sometime in the near future.

1. Tequatl will be scaled down, nerfed.
2. Changes to guesting or guest loot.
3. Overflow priority

People need to realize that it’s not the fact the content is challenging, on a schedule, or requires large scale coordination. The problem is guesting.

The content is great! The execution was rushed, and not thought out with the best interest of the community. I have yet to even join a non overflow since release.

Content in a mmo shouldn’t require you to server hop to participate.

Guesting should be account bound once a month to check out a destination server is a correct match for the community you want to join with a paid transfer.

Overflows are not filling the requirements for the content, unless a top tier plans before hand to guest a low pop to avoid the mess on their home server due to guesting.

Guesting should not reward loot, or priority should go to players from that home server.

AFK’s in overflow/or main due to waiting hours to get into main server or for fight.

Lowering the afk time will not fix this problem, more inconvenient for the afk’r is all. No real fix around the afk problem that Anet could do.

Community building within a server is one of the most important aspects to a mmorpg. Not the current guest>loot>leave..

Welfare guesting should not use the poor excuse of a low pop server. Transfer feature is in the game you can use gold or real currency. Use it and quit being cheap, start helping build the community instead of using them. Trust me it’s worth every bit of coin.

Anet needs to consolidate or feature a transfer sale for a short time, free to some servers.

Servers that say they need to guest, or are asking for assistant on their server doesn’t make sense to me, so for this permanent content they just accept the fact that this content and future similar content will not be doable on their server? So they plan to guest as long as they play the game? This is no solution.

It’s not the fact all content should be for everyone, it’s the fact that guesting to loot is horrible for the community and game, and this content was not thought out or executed well. All this has made this fight harder then the actual mechanics of the fight.

But the concept/scale/fight I enjoy very much.

Guesting inst the issue, its the overflows.

What we need (really as a community) is for guests to take a back seat to the home server players when overflows start to spawn. If there is an overflow, Guests get kicked from the root when home players enter the zone. When the over flow pops, and you get queued, home players take precedence over guests.

Increase the zone limits to 300-400. (up from 180-200)

What!!!??? So guests should lose all their efforts and wasted all their time? That’s just plain self-centered and selfish. Do you not understand why it’s guesting galore right now?

I think most people that are complaining about guesters just don’t have a clue what it’s like to unfortunately be stuck on a low population server and will never understand. Honestly at this point it’s on anet, they needed to merge servers a long time ago and for some reason they just don’t.

We do have a clue, and we paid w/gold or real money to be on these servers. Stop being a guest and pay like the rest of us, and help build the community within the server.

I would like to see transfer cost sale, let these “empty” servers merge together on medium pop and start building communities that will benefit from the size of the content Anet trying to push out.

It is not unheard of or a bad thing one year after a mmo release that servers are consolidated and closed. This would also change the dynamic of those bottom tier WvWvW, all together a better experience.

Low pop servers are a bad thing on any mmo; players leave the game, negative atmosphere (losing pvp, unable to complete/open pve content), lack of a community. Pretty safe to say many MMO players have stayed with a game mainly because of the community or guild before.

Players paid gems (from gold exchange or real money) to be on that server and to get it’s benefits. Being a highly populated and organized server that is. Only to be taken by guests.

What was the point of paying gems?

Right there with you, so sick & tired of guests afk’n on the server, if anything the content has put a serious split and animosity in the community. I have yet to get into a nonoverflow since the content was released. Great direction and idea, but horrible execution…just horrible.

I would rather see the server community build on this content. The server community for future content like this would learn to work together for these goals getting better and better.

don’t listen anyone says staff is trash in pve, they don’t got a clue what they are talking about.

as a main weapon it is utter trash. no argument there. crap dps, worthless symbol (for most fights), some healing (which will not save your party members) and a ward that is inferior to the hammer one. staff camper guardians are among the worst kinds of trash PUGs that you can get.

I do see the benefits of the staff – but only if your group is incompetent at might stacking. even so I would only use the staff at the start of the fight then switch to a real weapon for the rest. don’t forget that the staff might stacks are fairly shortlived and that mightstacks from blast finishers/FGJ are always better.

Don’t use staff as a main weapon for dmg, not made for that.
Ward is not inferior to the hammer at all, and thanks but I will take stacks of might/heal any day over hammer in dungeons.
Symbol is not really meant for combat..but comes in handy as most dungeon groups skip.
Staff healing/might has saved plenty of pugs, that’s in my zerk gear too.

They shouldn’t get rid of guesting.

Instead, they should make the world boss rewards unavailable to anybody guesting. Then, they need to scale world bosses so that lower-pop servers can do it without complaining about being a lower-pop server.

100% support. World boss rewards if you’re on your server only….the guesting feature was designed so that people can play with friends from other servers…this is just taking advantage of it. As someone mentioned earlier, the low population wouldn’t even be much of a problem if guesting was removed (or at least restricted) because the people who would be guesting would now actually be playing on their server, unless they really wanted to play with a friend.

How thoughtful of you. You do realize without guesting many low population servers will never be able to get this done, don’t you?

It could be done, other games have done it. I hope they do choose to do it, Anet would make some pretty good money from it.

If they can bring SAB into Guild War2 they can have an Asura racial transformation thing of a bobber. It’s done in FOTM, Living Story items, and karma quest rewards from vendors all the time.

Agree get rid of guesting, it should be a feature of the game limited once a month per account to check out a server that takes your interest prior to paying for a transfer. Stop being cheap, pay for a transfer gold/RL $$

So basically what your saying is when it comes to conditions this 1 year old game can’t keep up w/a game that introduced this half a decade ago give or take with tech pre 2004?

Once again I’am NOT discussing adding this to the current way conditions work or stack. Currently (even well described as you did @Conncept) as conditions are layed out in GW2 sounds over the top pain for players, devs, server, etc..

What comes to mind w/o any knowledge as a dev or tech side of MMO, less stacks allowed or needed, more upfront dmg due to DOT crits, less prolonged focus fire to build up dmg, lil more flexibility in cond builds, and duration changes?

I’am trying to look toward the perks if this could be implemented.

Conditions don’t crit and the stat combination inside most Condition Damage, precision trees, are normally for on crit effects, like having 33% chance to inflict a stack of bleeds on crit.

With out sarcasm appreciate the heads up, but not at all what I’am asking, I understand current setup conditions induced from crits.

Conditions are already limited to 25 per mob because tracking them racks up too much server resources. If they could crit, that would be yet another thing for the server to track.

In the current state of conditions in the game I don’t believe this would be viable, maybe even op. Conditions as a whole would have to be reworked similar to when this was introduced back in the day.

Maybe even no more 25per mob, a rework in a way to alleviate server resources while retaining potency and reduce such a long dmg build up for cond builds?

So earlier today I was helping a new player to GW2 that was asking some questions about cond builds and gear, when he asked…

“Do conditions crit?”

Been so long since that has come across my mind, many years since I ran around on my Warlock, I’am sure many of you know what game comes across your mind.

Why dont cond crit in this game? Some professions condition trait trees are shared with precision tree?

Could this improve by some how adjusting current condition setup, and possibly helping condition cap problems in groups or large zerg play?

Would you like this thought washed around by Anet devs?

For those unfamiliar, your DOTs from conditions would have a chances to crit in its duration.

I wish the current trinity in GW2 had a lil more emphasis. Control, Support, Dmg could provide more rewarding gameplay. Why have healing gear if otherwise unrewarded in group play (wvw example).

But I think too much of the game would have to change (pve) to opt out of dmg based roles to be efficient.

Just wondering if anyone has heard news on being able to tone down spell effects, or if Anet has in the works for this option?

Playing a melee atm can be a huge struggle, especially noticeable in larger parties/zergs. Being able to see boss abilities, and my placement to dodge are stripped away making gameplay not nearly as enjoyable as it could be.

Currently running a great gpu, but seems to be not worth it when all you see in melee combat are blobs of white and color flashes.

They’re sacrificing the lore for gimmicks. SAB has absolutely nothing to do with anything and doesn’t even fit well. They just give us the “asura smart. asura build things” explanation. We’re supposed to be plagued by dragons and it’s like no one is questioning what happened with the human gods. The living story is just a creative team going off on tangents. The game has turned into nothing but a series of small episodes with little relation to each other or anything else.

Admittedly I was really starting to enjoy the LS, flame&frost kind of kicked that off for me, and have been enjoying it til SAB. I would like to see LS spread out lil more 3-4weeks at a time & more in depth.

SAB…I just don’t know, fun for some but a kick in the teeth for the LS.

My 2cents, that book we got that unlocked a cut scene to that current LS was fantastic..I’am really hoping they give us a personal LS library in our home instance to reflect back, show new players, or show players that had to take a break from the story.

Hate to break the news to ya, but this is a mmo. You will not be a special unique snowflake, legendary (in this game) or any other attainable skin is not unique one of a kind per server…almost everything can be bought swap of a credit card, or time.

That being said, that’s ok, less worrying about how other players look on your screen & the game will be more enjoyable.

Personally I much rather see more legendary, ascended, time consuming skins….makes the view all that much better when playing.

It may just be me, but it’s about time GW released some mounts. It takes so long to get across the map sometimes, and that annoys me lol. Release them in the gem store and if we want them we have the choice to buy them

Agree, if anything a very small speed increase. Just blows me away players of GW go head over heels on minis, but so anti mounts?

I find it pretty smart and funny NCsoft other game is a direct opposite of GW2 and will snag all the players that want dueling, combat mounts, world pvp, housing, and sub for content. Very smart company.
