With the exception of a couple of good points brought up, the thread mostly sounds like a way of bypassing purchasing the expansion o.O
E.g. Using Great Sword on Necromancer without being a Reaper.

Under the purposed system, both necros will be able to use Great Sword
I may have missed something, i sort of just skimmed over most of the thread.
It does need doing, and has been suggested. Just waiting on a response x.x
If anything, I believe giving a small rank point/ reward track boost for readying up is more than enough (at the end of the match of course).
This whole thing of “level 1 are pve scrubs” is hilarious… I ran with 3 guildies yesterday all on level 1 characters just to give the other team a false sense of an easy win.. i believe we ended up winning by 350+ points.
I have a couple of characters that are level 1-20, I don’t like them enough to level them up in PvE nor do i want to waste my tomes of knowledge on them. They only exist for PvP and PvP only. For me, that’s more than enough.
It’s a step in the right direction;however, I feel the level should have been 40… It is a bit too easy to get to level 20… At least with level 40, you are 50% of the way to level 80 and have some generic understanding of the way matches are suppose to work. You would have taken your fair share of lumps and victory swigs. You would have essentially played in every situation a few times and be comfortable with your class or classes to be competent in a ranked scenario.
I understand, that ranks don’t mean anything; however, if we are going down the road of Ranks being a benchmark to play ranked, the entrance level should be a little higher.
In fact, what we need is way more variety of amulets, so even new builds can be created, not to reduce the amount we have now…
I agree, we do need more amulets, sigils and runes. However, there should be some mindfulness to the stats.
Sadly it’s easier said then done,
I do believe removing it from PvP would be beneficial; however, you will have a ton of people raging at the top of their lungs threatening murder, suicide, and lawsuits because their class is “now broken and useless”.
A lot of people, have a hard time believing there is more to a class then what a youtube critic tells them is appropriate to play. Yes, that shouldn’t be a reason to keep it but it’s a factor…
It can be done though, there are examples of amulets and sigils not being added to pvp due to an OP factor…
You can do a lot of stuff with heroes. How about Master Architect Gunther from Guild Wars 1. As a slight derivation from his role in Fort Aspenwood, he could rush the supply depot and return to repair a gate. If he’s still not killed, he would go to the supply depot again and repair the other gate.
Why not do a slight alteration to this idea,
If a gate is up, he would rush supply from the Depot and spawn Door Breakers.
If no gates are up, he would spawn Archers.
I just want to get a few honest opinions on whether or not it’s worth it to max out/keep working on my ranger for PvP?
I feel like rangers are extremely useless and outclassed in every aspect in PvP. At first I figured I was just probably bad at PvP, but I tried sPvP with my level 31 warrior and dominated a few games without even knowing my build.
Has anyone had real success with rangers? Or should I move on to a different class? I really love rangers, but it’s just not fun being outclassed in every game.

The biggest issue you will face is your mental limitations. If you get offended very easily and can’t take the harassment, this isn’t the class for you.
Yes, you can probably find more success by playing the cheese of the month; however, you really aren’t developing as a pvp player. It’s people who play Pokémon and go out and buy a power save to finish the game. Grats, you did something that required little to no skill to do.
Another thing, while you’re learning PvP, it’s better to do so on a class you like. For myself personally, I find Engineer to be very boring and dreadful to play in PvP. I have nothing really against the class, they have their use and played by other people they can be awesome. For myself though, I can’t play 1-2 games without falling asleep.
With my ranger on the other hand, it’s my baby and it’s been my baby since GW1. So, I enjoy finding a way to making him better and more unique. (no long bow isn’t in my kitten nal, neither is bear.)
So here’s a tdlr version of suggestions:
1) Yes you can have success as a Ranger; however, It’s not a pick up and win class like a couple certain classes are at the moment.
2) You should play a class you enjoy playing while learning PvP
3)Stay away from Cheese builds, yes they are good for a reason; however, everyone knows them and everyone should know a counter to them by now.
Why would you want to delete one of your babies that you sunk money or a lot of time into?
If it was by an accident, you can petition anet via support desk ticket.
I believe you cannot use the Mystic Forge Conduit in the mists either.
In my opinion, not a big deal.

Thanks for posting this, i’ll include this in my weekly report along with the other items that do not work in the heart of the mists (there’s a few).
Part of the plan for Esports was to create this type of drama and talk about it. Even the developers have stated they wanted people to talk about it and start this whole gossip circle around what the teams are doing, who can beat who, etc. etc. etc.
Mission accomplished on that front?
Side note, I’m tired of people talking about the Tampa Bay Lightning only being good because of the division they are in.
There are so many burns op threads on the PvP forums but yet ANet does nothing in regards of nerfs or mentioning anything. I’d rather have EA moderate this game… For real.

Anet use to be very good at sharing everything; however, the community turned it into a stab anet fest when they missed a deadline by 0.00000001 of a second.
That’s pretty interesting. Couple of quick questions though with NA players in mind.
1) Whats the cap on people if there is one
2) How’s the quality of the audio?
3) Any idea where the server is based out of? if in the USA, what coast?
It’s an interesting idea, for those who may be confused on the issue, blocking someone does not currently prevent someone from playing with you. This was not an intended feature for blocking. It was only meant to severe any communication that player will have with you.
There are a couple of issues with your suggestion, hear me out and think of the abusive side of this idea.
If you were to block someone to prevent them from playing with you, wouldn’t the new meta become block anyone who’s on the leaderboards? or block any known successful teams? E.g. Abjured.
Granted, this is on the extreme case; however, there are some people who are very serious about their digital egos.

I just wanted to say I’m loving these new elite specs and revenant! need a little work, somewhat balanced, but the main thing is just that it is REALLY annoying pvping with them because every match all you do is get flamed for it! Sadly, this is not a new issue for the pvp community. Whenever anything new is released it is common for players to throw a fit and complain. Just ignore them and enjoy playing your specialization.
Side note, make sure you’re playing in Practice or Unranked until you are comfortable with the elite spec / revenant. This should help alleviate some of the complaints you are receiving.
Daroon.1736:Do you not think that hotjoin in it’s current state is one of the primary reasons more people don’t play PvP and the community is so small?
Um NO it’s an issue but it’s not a major must fix now issue.
1) Fix people rage quitting
2) Fix the issue with people idling
3) Fix the Queue times
4) Fix the Match Making system
5) Fix the lack of anything to do while you queue
1,2, and 4 are bound together. You can’t fix 1 and 2 without fixing 4 and vice versa.
3 is a delicate issue, you can’t just trash can Practice and throw in a giant crowd. For a month that may fix the queue problems but then you just exacerbated points 1 and 2.
In order to even implement the idea of restructuring practice or “Hot Join” the following MUST be done first.
1) Fix the Match Making System
2) Implement a punishment system for people who idle or rage quit a match.
Until those two things are done everything else is a complete waste of time and will only exacerbate the current issues even further.

It is, I’ll give you that; however, there are some fixes to it that can make it worth while. Going off of what you stated, you can switch the hammer to your color and hop back down.
I think a better fix for it would be along the lines of Kylo to wear you can destroy the hammer and have it rebuilt. Possibly have the repair kits on a hard to jump location such as the little bluffs above Point A and C?

It was a complement. The amount of loyal fanboyism this beta weekend is toxic.
If they actually do my suggestion, it would be for the best for ArenaNet to remove unranked as there will be no reason for it. (Random Arena-style mode would replace it, and be community building)
ArenaNet seems to forget friendships are forged better when you play with a team for 5+ rounds.

With more restrictions added to Team Arena to prevent solo queue within it. Solo Arena before, you couldn’t team up so that’s fine. Then Hot Join, could do what you suggested in regards to that particular area.

Welcome to the PvP forums! here’s a list of cons.
1) Unranked becomes the new Practice or “Hot Join”
2) People will quit or afk more often when things don’t go there way
3) There is no punishment for quitting matches, see pages 2-7 and see one of the 10 threads on this issue.
4) Custom Arenas would be come useless
5) Practice or “Hot Join” will be come useless and a baren wasteland.
The idea for practice, also know as “Hot Join” was to introduce people to the PvP environment and have them learn the mechanics as well as for veteran players to test their builds. The first portion is why rewards and rank points need to stay for Practice also known as “Hot Join”.
Slamming everyone into the same queue for the sake of lower queue times is no the way to go. Yes, things will be faster; however, the quality of games will be a lot worse then they are now. Instead of having someone who’s within 20 ranks or so of you, you will end up with people who may be 75-80 ranks below you.
This will highly encourage more people to AFK or quit matches when they find out they are teamed with new players.
Yes, the match making system needs to be improved; however, this will just make things a lot worse…. especially under the current situation.
I suggest the following be done instead:
1) Rank Points in Practice also known as “Hot Join” be lowered by 33%
2) Set a hard cap on how many rewards they can earn in a server day. I would suggest no more than 5 rewards a day from PvP from Practice. This would mean you can only do 1 tier a day from practice.

I wouldn’t hold your breath on getting an official response on this. Generally, call out threads do not equate out to the responses the OP wants.
From what I’ve seen, the stats you obtain in Betas do not carry over to live.
E.g. 5 wins in Unranked on a Mesmer does not carry over to the:
Illusionist
Champion Illusionist
On your non-beta characters (main account)
The best way to look at it, is that your beta characters are essentially a snap shot of your account that can not be modified. What ever you acquire via stats, loot, or achievements won’t effect your main characters (non-beta characters).
I’m sure there are probably a couple of glitches people have found to get around it but It is not intended.

PvE Living StoryBalance is very important to PvP, more so than in WvW or any form of PvE. It should have more manpower devoted to it. Similarly, PvE needs far more content than PvP and gets more content developers.

It’s very simple and easy to focus on only one thing and one thing only.
The down state the lord is an interesting idea.
Couple questions though
1) If the lord is down, is there a limit how many times you can rally him?
2) If the guards are still alive, will they prioritize the lord to res him?
3) Should a condition be added to where the opposing team must stomp the lord to win? E.g. you can’t bleed the lord out while he’s in the down state.
I’m all for downstate lord but please no more handicaps for condition builds I already stopped playing them in PvP max rally times should be 5 don’t let the npc’s do everything so no they shouldn’t prioritize rez let the players do it.
Not really a handicap for condi builds with that suggestion, maybe bleed out was a bad way of wording it. My objective is that the lord will not die from dps/ condis or any damage from down state. You’d have to finish him via stomp.

Anyone who played Guild Wars 1 SHOULD remember all the patches to fix skills for PvP or PVE since they were split…. It got a little ridiculous lol… With the addition of WvW they would have to split things into 3 and that will just be even more messy….
Ya, they can wait and do them all at the same time but if one of those 3 is broken, guess what? hot patch time!

This does not factor in weapons since in GW1 weapons didn’t determine your skills (some exceptions) like it does in GW2.
GW2 wise:
9 classes (counting rev)
+ Weapon Skills for each class
+Downed State Skills
Granted you can’t mix and match classes but you have to break it into 3 instead of 2 now.
so X3 1 for PvP, 1 for PvE, 1 for WvW
Toss on Living Story and the updates we normally get… I think the picture is becoming clear xD

This thread really falls under two different threads that are on the main page as well….
Unfair matches are a result of bad matchmaking & no punishment
Both of which have been addressed on page one of the PvP section…..
When it comes to bad matchmaking it’s been reported numerous times and I’m in the same boat as everyone else… just waiting on an answer.
When it comes to punishment, the community is split on how they want this addressed, both ways have been reported and again, stuck on waiting on an answer. Part of the community doesn’t want this addressed or bothered to be fixed until match making is fixed. They feel it’s there right to screw their team over if the game isn’t to their liking. The other half the community feels the punishment system should be addressed and fixed now and worry about match making down the road.
With regards to Solo Queue, the current system treats solo queue as a supplemental role. The current pvp options are as followed with a GENERAL explanation of each.
-Custom Arena, a sand box play around area.
-Practice, Newbie Starting Area / Refine your build area
-Unranked, Casual structured play
-Ranked, Uber Serious Structured Play
Before it was:
Hot Join, Quick match without waiting
Solo Arena, No premades allowed
Team Arena, meant for teams but you can join as a solo player.
Personally, I’d rather see the old system returned but then you have a couple of issues, both of which are easy fixes but still need to be addressed.
1) Will both solo and team be ranked or unranked or mixed?
2) If both are Ranked, how do you fix the game mode issue of Conquest, Team Death Match and Stronghold.
3) If we do separate queues for those game modes, how does one address the queue issue for those who want to play Team Death Match?
4) If both are ranked, how does one fix the new issue of people complaining that people are leaving and switching teams in practice? After all, some people take their leaderboard positions very very seriously and would prefer to play unranked until they feel confident enough to go on a winning streak in solo or team.
5) For the team arena portion, to prevent 1 person from rage quitting, should a rule be implemented that no one can solo queue for team arena? if they do that then you can not enter a queue with just 4 people. You would have to enter the queue as a full party of 5, or a party of 3 or a party of 2. If you enter as a party of 3, you’d have to wait for a party of 2 to be matched with you. And vice versa for party of 2… Then you run into an issue with Hybrid parties complaining about facing a fully premade team of 5….
As nice as the old system was, it did have a lot of issues as well.

i was wondering does anyone know why there is amulets missing?theirs no apothecary or dire amulets i am sure there are more that are missing.Anet if you read this could you tell us why.
Amulets aren’t the only thing missing
There are some Sigils and Runes missing as well.
Call out threads for ANET devs to answer rarely get you any results.

The community is torn on this issue so it’s not a “how much do we have to ask for it”
-I’d say half the community wants match making fixed first
-Other half wants punishment implemented first

They were different things…
The pvp change you were referencing was to make Dragon Rank easier to obtain since it took 2 Years for anyone to get remotely close to it.
The fractal change isn’t a nerf because no one can get to 50. They are adding additional levels.
The only way your reasoning and example would work is if they added levels 81-160 to PvP which they did not.
Rather misleading thread title, was expecting to see a broken mechanic on:

In the mean time, one of the developers (forgot who) suggested that for Idling and refusal to play, you should report them as LFG abuse.
In comparison to Guild Wars (Prophecies – Beyond), We (GW2) are missing a lot of holidays and festivities. Some of them, make sense due to lore issues and the loss of knowledge of those civilizations. However, it would be nice to re-introduce some of the older festivities and implement reward tracks for them.
This would give players something to do, introduce new rewards, and be a slight nod back to Guild Wars 1.
Here is a list I came up of festivities that can easily be ported to GW2:
Lucky Treats Weekend (March 14th, St. Patrick’s day)
Sweet Treats Week (April 10th, Easter)
Chocolate Eggs and Bunnies with jelly beans. Maybe at the end of the reward track a special bunny back piece or hat or something.
Dragon Festival (June 27th) We had Dragon Bash but that vanished…
Based on the Elder Dragons, some dragon themed shoulders or w.e.
Wintersday in July (July 24th) Rehash of previous years wintersday without any snow or dungeons. GW2 wise, this would be without Tix or Tox.
Already exists, just re-implement reward track from Wintersday.
Pirate Week (September 13th, international talk like a pirate day)
Pirate themed reward track with Alcohol being rewarded every tier and a special pirate item at the end.
Special Treats Week (November 21, US thanks giving)
Lot of Autumn based food being rewarded. Pumpkins, Turkey, ambrosia etc. The end reward could be something like a Buckled Hat or funny looking Turkey Weapon.

The wintersday one would have been neat since Guild Wars 1 Had Wintersday In July… but it’s no longer July!
I recently joined a group titled “exp metazerk” without class requirements as an engineer. 2 People start flaming about my class as soon as i joined.
Most Lfg’s are just searching for these 4 classes. I understand ranger and necro do not bring as much dps or group buffs than other classes, but mesmer and engi?
Really lost interest in this thread when I came to that portion….
You’re complaining that your Engie and I’m assuming Mesmer were shunned by a group. Yet, you state it’s ok for Rangers and Necromacners to be shunned…
So to rephrase what you wrote based on how I read it:
“People should not shun the classes I play but should shun class A and Class B because I don’t play them and no one seems to like them”
Personal points should not be a priority or focus, just make sure you have at least 5 points (minimum you can have) so you don’t screw your self out of any rewards at the end.
Generally, the most impactful players are the ones with the least amount of points since they are preventing points from being captured, Neutralizing special objectives (treb, monsters, etc) and bailing team mates out of a jam.
They aren’t soul focusing on 1v1 or trading caps with another person the whole game.
I disagree with wolfey on the list of things mesmer have for weaknesses.
1- if you interrupt they are screwed is very vague since they have stun breakers as well as distortion. With the ability to cast blinds at will and hide behind clones. Interrupting them opens a small window to do some dmg.
2-sic em is a ranger only skill and also it doesnt make them easier to kill from the other ways they can hide around walls, teleport to a different area or simply portal.
3-isnt that just a basis to winning fights for a condi class build? Im playing condi so im gonna to apply as much condi as i can to win the fight?
Keep in mind those are General Statements made about general game play that the general public tends to play those general classes.
1) If you interrupt a mesmers, generaly they aren’t going for their stun breaker they panic and do something stupid. Good mesmers don’t panic and they are able to stun break and move on.
2) I never stated that Sic Em was for every class so thank you for pointing out that it was ranger only. And it actually does make them easier to kill lol
A) They can’t stealth, there is no quick disappearance when they pop clones or illusions, you are able to keep perpetual focus on them till reveal wears off.
B) Sic Em:
Your pet rushes at your foe, revealing them and dealing increased damage.

3) to re-state, if you apply a lot of condis…. you have a greater chance of putting a burst Mesmer in a down state with you. Most classes can go toe-toe with a Mesmer in a down state.
Please include counter points and weaknesses for Mesmer as the OP instructed.

Some popular things I’ve seen…
1) 2-4 people going to home at the start
2) An Ele that forgot to chose the weapon they meant to play with
3) Role Players… I am not joking…. I’ve been on a few teams to where they roll played…
4) People who are playing 2 games at once… normally Xbox or PS4
5) People who play with wireless keyboards or mice and they die and they don’t have batteries to switch them out…. had that happen about 3 times on a team…
6) People playing on Dial Up (Not Joking had someone on a team tell us before the match they were at their grandmas on Dial Up)
And of course my all time favorite:
“Hi Guys I’m new to this game but I played a lot of WoW so I should be fine right?”

I’d like to know if PvPers role play because there isn’t much to do while waiting for queue pop.
I really miss queuing from Tarnished Coast Divinity’s Reach. Was hoping to re-create the magic in hotm.

It’s amusing and rare to see but they do….
Mostly what I see is political debates and people who don’t read the patch notes complaining in map chat…. but late at night (US Central Time) it seems to have a couple of people who like to role play around the camp fire….
