How come every other class in the game can’t do what a thief does with stomping/reviving?

Because every class is not the same and they have differing roles? By your line of thinking every class should be able to do everything every other class can do with the same degree of capability. The thief is a rogue/assassin archetype that excels at picking off single targets, it only makes sense that they should have the best options when it comes to finishing wounded opponents. Your post is just as misguided as those in the thief forum complaining that they suck in zergs and die constantly when they try to mindlessly stack on the commander at the front of the hammer train.

Every other class has a different role yet the thief has access to cheap mechanics that are unstoppable?

Shadowstep stomping

Zero reveal on stealthing, dmg, cc etc does not reveal stealth

PERMANENT stealth with d/p thieves..None of the other classes has that

Unlimited access to a weapon skill with zero cool down to bypass cc and immobilize..NONE of the other classes has that.

Stealth stomping=completely nullifies some down states

Access to the ability to Always initiate combat on the thieve’s terms over and over again

Ability to reset the fight unlimited times till they win or run away with zero consequence

Zero cool down on weapon skills. Why is the thief the ONLY class that has zero cool down on weapon skills and can spam the same weapon skill repeatedly?

Do any of the classes have access to all of the above? No..

It’s a funny excusesaying every class is unique bordering on the usual ‘L2P’ spouted by baddy thieves.

No worries..ppl will roll more thieves and thus others will quit the game thus affecting Anet/NcSoft’s cash flow and then they will act. By then, ESO is out.

Great decision by the bad devs -who came up with the most broken stealth mechanic in the history of the world- to continue to support this broken system against mass protests. Or maybe they can’t deal with it..I favor the latter.

Thieves need to be fixed or people not willing to play a cheap class did, are and will keep quitting.

And retaliation? Really? Sorry, but were smart enough to see that and STOP what were doing until its gone. Good lord. There are actually a couple people that dont AIMLESSLY dps.

Devil’s advocate: Drop a single tick of AoE on a crowd of 20 people with Retaliation. 20 hits of Retal at the same time. Drop something like a lingering AoE field like Combustion Shot. You’re gonna get hit by Retals and you can’t turn it off.

Limit the boons to 5 ppl and open the damage aoe to more than 5.

Stop using that argument.

Retaliation, protection and confusion are terrible design ideas. Protection is even better than healing. How else can a guardian survive a zerg that long.

They messed up and went overboard in nerfing warriors in Beta. Just like they messed up with the stealth mechanics.

Closing on targets:
Warriors are the ONLY class that has trouble reaching it’s target:
Thieves: zero problem
Guardians: Bunk so they wait for you
All other classes got range, BM rangers have a 1100 range leap.
-We have zero pulls. All the other classes have pulls. Why do they need them..?
-We have mobile strike which is bugged and bad: Does not remove chill, if you get immobilized or crippled while leaping using mobile strike, it will still land and stop you mid-air. How is this not fixed one year into the game? Don’t say it is intended because it is obvious that it wasn’t since dogged march combats chill.
-Our weapon animations are buggy. Eviscerate and hammer burst: you stop in mid air.

Solution:
-We need pulls on several melee weapons.
-Mobile strike MUST cover chill and MUST grant immunity to chill/immob/snare While leaping.

Weapon skills:
Highly choreographed weapon skills: Hammer,for example.
Longest channeling on weapon skills in the game: GS 100b..3.5s..wtf?, Rifle burst.

Utility skills:
Other classes have weapon skills that are superior to our utility skills:
-Mesmer staff 2 teleport and Sword illusionary leap are superior to our bull’s charge.
-Thief teleports on sword are superior to bull’s charge and any weapon gap closer we have.
-Engy shield AND shield from the tool skill is much superior to our regular shield.
-Guardian hammer knock back is fast, unpredictable and knocks back a huge distance. Useful in stopping stompers or kicking ppl out of circles.
etc etc etc
-Some utility skills are trash: Signet of might: CC using this does not interrupt a blocker..yet a guardian’s circle or line of warding WEAPON skills do..why..?

Elite:
-Rampage: useless. Ever notice you lose health faster while Rampaging? Yep. Zero access to heals or utility skills. Kinda like a Moa but with better cc.
-SOR: Worst one in the game. It is basically boons that almost every class has access to via utility skills. Our best elite can be stripped.
-Banner is ok but is much inferior to many other elites. Any mesmer elite beats all of ours, for example. Engy etc.

Boons:
-Boon combat: We can’t remove or steal any boons. How are we supposed to deal with protection? DOEmpowered is terrible. It can’t even bypass the protection buff.
-Access to protection: non existent. Rangers have access to protection and we don’t..wtf..

Trait Lines:
Why doesn’t the tactic tree have + to healing..?
Why are the LB masteries not in the strength/Arms trees where you have condi dmg/duration/pwr/prec?

Deep strike should be buffed to keep up with the stat buff on the signets. This was an oversight.

How is this useful in pvp? Even in pve..really..? Are you going to be starved for adrenaline and pass on the much superior adrenaline granting skills for this one? Passing on signet mastery and 25% movement speed?

This does not help against any immob/chill/cripple. This is a slap in the face. We are the only class that has trouble reaching our target so they give us this? good luck being kited. Also, Swiftness in combat is faster than this so if you are using your signet then you are wasting your time.

Did you guys read my post i know some weapons offer a better mobility but i dont use them . Thats why i think the ranger on some weapon sets
Should be increased . Im not gonna run the cookie cutter skullcrack
Or S\W+GS just to run away .

Then run LB+rifle with some physical utilities to create a gap

First of all, I ask myself, what are Arena.Net Attentions of buffing Warrior’s Hammer to the Extreme of Perma-Stuning?

I’m always Advocating and Defending Warrior Class not being the 1st Top Melee Class than the Thief Class but at this state, Warrior Hammer is getting out of control.
(I will not even go about of Wars. Rifle 13k-28 Single Shot.. at least it doesn’t Stun+Damage)

I just don’t get it with the New Arena,Net of allowing a non-Heavy Armor class called Thief Overtaking the King of Melee Crown- Warrior?

This is the only MMorpg where you will find a light arnmor class out-Damaging a Warrior in all stats.

What a Shame..

(Anyhow let me continue….)

Warriors Hammer can Stun+Damage= Instant Lock+Death.. which only spells out. Overpowerdness.

Even Thief being the 1st Melee Class doesn’t have Perma-Stun.

The community and I are already Suffering Heavily the Irony and Tyranny of Thiefs Perma-Stealthing , so now it’s ok for Warriors Hammer in having Perma-Stun?

So than, who’s next Engineer Turrents Perma-Locking?

I Encourage Arena.Net to take a stand with Warriors Hammer Perma-Stun.

You do realize we can’t do it from stealth so you can see it coming a mile away? I smile when I see hammer wars because they are the slowest, most predictable and easily spotted weapon sets in the game.

You are a ranger..you have the longest stability in the game..

Your version of endure pain is superior to that of a warrior -longer and on shorter cool downs through a popular MINOR trait-

You are one of the best snaring/chillling/kiting classes in the game

Your BM ranger build is one of the cheapest and op ones out there

Are you telling me you can’t see someone holding a hammer, leaping into mid air, freezing in mid air for a sec then falling down on top of you?

And don’t say it is unavoidable if you are out of dodges or fighting more than one. Everyone faces that problem with every class.

What do you do if you run into chain fear necros or chain cc engys? Go post on their forums asking for a nerf? Their ccs are almost instant and they fare way better than the warrior class in 1v1.

Anybody knows where one can view the stream? I was on a work trip for few days, so I missed it.

While it is great that WvWvW finally gets attention and the live stream is a superbly good idea, the summary on this thread sounds like a nightmare come true.

Keeping the BL maps as small, but practically eliminating the lake + adding more objectives around where the lake should be is a really bad idea:
- the side with bigger numbers will have a superior advantage
- offering the leading side map wide boosts is the bad idea (read below)

We already have called Power of Mists and I consider it has an educational example of failed game design. The winning side shouldn’t have any bonuses, which make the winning even easier. Luckily the stat bonuses are rather small, thus it is not entirely game-breaking. But now adding a similar system on top of it could easily create a snowballing effect. The winning side gets even more morale, encouragement to utterly trash and steam roll the outnumbered side. The side with much less players seems the challenge as Mount Impossible and goes back to pve. Combination Power of Mists, the new proposed system and Applied Fortitude + Guard Leech WXP traits could be devastating for small scale and solo roaming (one side / player having enormous stat boosts compared to no/almost no boosts).

In the current system matches are generally decided already within the first few days from reset, now the proposed system might make this even worse.

(In a well designed system this should be the opposite and probably completely random e.g. the more your server is behind in points, it has a better likelyhood to gain some minor buff points e.g. +4% to healing power or health. Thus giving a better chance for a comeback and higher likelihood of really even matchups).

Here are question for the devs:

1. Where can we have large scale underwater combat if / when the lake gets more or less eliminated?
The lake provided a different combat experience (variety is good!) and siege free environment (a lot of players really hate the abundant siege wars, but Arenanet doesn’t seem to listen to them). The current pond in Eternal Battlegrounds is pitifully small and few very players reside there. The Raid on the Capricorn map in pvp is very small and the underwater is very small part of that map. So where is the underwater combat?!

2. Any plans to give players ability reset WXP traits?
(this could be a good money / badge / karma sink)

3. Any plans to tone down overpowered WXP traits?
( +250 to vitality, added power + condition damage, +25% damage buffs, 1.5x radius—> 2.25 times area etc. are obviously way too good to be true)

4. Any plans to balance the professions for WvWvW?
(Now it is obvious that some professions are much more frequent than others and also requested by good commanders, who might tell that that profession XXX is not needed)

1.Nobody wants underwater combat. The majority loathes it. capricon is that way > > >.

2.Hope so.

3.If the do then they should remove consumables+ sigil stacking on pve mobs.

4. lol, no. They haven’t broken the stealth mechanics after numerous hundreds upon hundreds of complaints which lead to people quitting. Why do you think they should do so now? They have to lose money and then they will pressured to do something.

Saw this on reddit, took me a moment to realize this changed too.

They have changed the landscape around the lake quite alot.

There is something big in the middle of the lake as well as you can see on the last screen.

Basically those 5 new cap points are like 5 new supply camps for thieves and people who love small scale skirmishes around the map tho can’t say clearly what will be the impact and magnitude of this wvw buff for holding them.

Any change on the landscape adds more opportunity for new tactics/siege placement and strategies.

People shouldn’t cry about new stuff before playing it.

Camps never encouraged 5mans because PVE is boring for 5man pvp groups. What makes you think that adding more “camps” will help? I find it amazing how people can’t properly kitten things. Guess it comes from angry birding for 2 hours straight in a tower.

EDIT: in the screenshot above he is currently STANDING WHERE WATER SHOULD BE (via the mini-map) but is on a new “Colosseum” of sort which works towards Bloodlust in the Borderlands (new name for Orb?)

Oh my gosh..they changed 1 small area on the map.. You call THAT a new map?

Are you complaining about progress? If so, explain to me how a brand new map would work in your eyes. How would you go about balancing it? Did you measure all of the distances between towers and keeps to make sure that trebs aren’t too close between two or more objectives? The more details the better, you seem to have designed a few of your own for a several million-player-game judging by your reply.

I moved on from taking one dump a day to two. Praise me on my progress, plz.

I’m finding that relying on LB and rifle are easier than melee weapons -rifle needs more work as a weapon-.

I mean..all the classes in this game are ranged if you think about it:
Mesmer,necro,Engy,Ranger
Thief is ranged since they have zero problem closing in on you
Guardians bunk in effective spvp so you have to reach them

So why should you be the only class that struggles with chasing targets that teleport and stealth all over the place?

Gotta get mobile strikes. Axe, shield and hammer all benefit from it.

Sadly mobile strikes doesn’t work on chill. I’ve been spamming the forums for months asking for it to include it. You can also be immobilized while using a leap that has mobile strikes.

I actually had some bad warriors saying mobile strikes is fine ! I guess they like being kited and slapped around.

Do people use banner regen for wvw? It’s not like spvp where people feel obligated to stand in a circle to fight you. It seems like the banner would just be annoying to play around. I was thinking about getting a condition set for my warrior too, but 1200 healing only gives you about 60 extra hp per second from healing signet and 180 per 3 seconds from adrenal health (at full adrenaline). I wouldn’t think that would be worth giving up the condition damage and crit from rabid.

Nah ppl use it when they are roaming because pugs are too stupid to walk away from it.

My bad. BM ranger is broken as in OP. I see them all the time fighting 3-4 pugs and getting away with full health.

Try soloing one that abuses the class and see how well you do in wvw.

The fact is every other profession does get a way (trait, utility, weapon, etc) to run faster than normal or leap consistently. Mesmers get Swiftness on a single off-hand weapon. They have no Utility skill that lets them run faster. They have no trait that lets them run faster out of combat nor any leaps. Nothing. I do agree with you Mesmers are annoyingly slow but they’re far from a burden in WvW and I manage to farm PvE perfectly fine with mine so I don’t know where that complaint came from.

Necros are slow.

Warriors are slow in the current meta build -mace/shield +LB- or S/S +LB.

Non BM rangers can’t get away as easily.

Guardians are slow.

Mesmers have access to portals, blink, staff teleports -just link blink and staff teleports- swiftness wall/wall pull and have traits that give them increased speed for every illusion:

Necros have a 25% run signet
Warriors have several leaps and a trait that lets them run 25% faster with a melee weapon
Rangers have a few leaps and a 25% run speed signet
Guardians have leaps and can easily maintain perm swiftness.

We can’t have everything in this game or in RL and so can’t you. Just the way things work.

Anet provided you with Staff teleports, blinks, portals, stealth and Compounding celerity to move around . Think of using them.

I would be happy as a warrior to have access to 8 secoond cool down teleports, portals, Instant teleport blinks that breaks stun and stealth and I don’t want leaps on my weapon skills. Once the other classes get these skills then I will wholeheartedly support more snickers more mobility to mesmers.

Try playing a warrior. Maye then you’ll see how hard not to rely on a handicap: 8 second teleports/stealth/access to immunity to anything at any time/ clones attacking while you are running or dodging/ 10 sec invulnerability for 2secs on a weapon skill.

Yep..mesmers are truly in bad shape.

Any commander worth his salt would want a mesmer over a warrior that CCs 5 ppl max out of the 30man zerg in the front every 9 seconds -if he isn’t blinded or destroye- any time of the day. Take a survey..

It’s funny coming across the weird little isolated reality mesmer players live in where they think they are entited to more and more even though they have the best and most unique skills that affect zergs or spvp.

If some of the tasks for a mesmer in WvW aren’t fun then play another class. Guess what, warriors don’t like being cc / condi removal bots and guardians get bored with being meat shields/boon batteries.

He downed you first. He should get the kill, not the other way around.

But it doesn’t work when the thief drops SR before he drops?

How about when someone interrupts the stomper because they don’t have access to stealth instantly as the thief does and their stability is on a 40-60 sec cool down?

How about when someone can’t stomp a thief because they are being focus fired? Yet a thief can do just that by shadow stepping?

How about when a thief uses shadowstep mid stomp to stomp an ele who mist formed to the side?

How come every other class in the game can’t do what a thief does with stomping/reviving?

This needs fixing. Anyone who does not agree is a player who gets carried by the thief class and get wrecked if they play anything else. Don’t believe me? Dig deep into their previous replies and you’ll find they all play thieves.

Huh..what a coincidence..Who’d’ve thunk it..baddies supporting baddies.

Anet devs messed up big time with the thief class and other game devs will snicker whenever they walk into a room or are mentioned. Wonder if the person who came up with the stealth mechanics will ever be hired again.

Dude, its a video game. Of course 90% of the people on it are there for some mindless entertainment. We then revert to a thing known by the locals as “real life” and pursue our true passions.

funny part is, we can accomplish this is 2-3 hours spent after work a night. I never said devote endless amounts of time…lol. These games are so easy.

RL of course is more important, it just fun to come home from work, and absolutley demolish people. We never even play weekends, just weeknights. The guy asked my definition of a true pvper.

And you think these kinds of people have left GW2?

Now that right there is what we call “A Gooooo Won” (translation a good one).

That kind of player bought the game, played it, realized its a WARhammer remake filled again with $$$ spending 8 year olds….tried pvp, realized its AoE cap and downed state caters to bad players being able to win, to keep the games population up because they get to “win” fights theyd lose in other games….and Gaaaabye, they left.

If you dont believe me, read through this thread and count all the times people said “I knew some people, who have now left”

There is ZERO competition in this game. ZERO competitive natured people. Sitting on an AC for 3 hours or some treb isnt competitive, its lazy and boring. Hence the 8 yr old can do this reference.

I deleted my post because i combed through your history and felt it wrong to try and put words in your mouth.

If you find that the floor is lifted up by downed state and aoe cap then that is a call for you to play better to out-do the bads who have mechanical support.

There are plenty of competitive natured people still in WvW, a lot of US are frustrated by the current metas. We who remain keep challenging ourselves while advocating for Anet to move the game in ways that we think will promote competition and challenge. I don’t personally sit and sift through the forums arguing and pontificating but i do consult and speak with those who do. There are plenty of pvpers like you describe still here, i will agree we are the minority but that doesn’t mean you have to turn a blind eye to us.

Uh huh..and how is your ‘playing better’ working vs. higher numbers with AOE caps and the downed state?

You must be doing something special because all of us haven’t been succeeding vs. larger zergs for a full year. All it takes it minimal organization on the side of the zerg to roll over you.

If what you were saying is true..then why are there constant complaint about the two terrible mechanics/restrictions and mass exodus from WvW in lower tier servers.

They can’t be all wrong and you’re right..can they?

Has anyone some WvWvW footage/montage of a condi-perplexity warrior, just for the lulz?

A.You have to interrupt someone doing sometihng in order for confusion to happen. So in some instances even though you CCed a target, they won’t get confusion.

B. You need significant condition duration increase to have that confusion effective. It is so short and burns as your cc wears off. Guess what..they aren’t doing any action while being CCed and so confusion won’t have any effect.

C. You sacrifice 20 points into a crappy line and you might be forced to sacrifice your runes for perplexity.

D.You are forced to drop either LB or S/S as a ful condi warrior to replace it with hammer or mace shield. Hammer is not favorable to some due to it’s clunky and predictable nature.

E.It is rendered useless with stability. Ppl pop stability vs. hammer warrior or even take a gamble and pop it randomly vs. a mace one.

F.Few ppl slot interrupts in their slot skills to try and squeeze in balanced stance/dolyak, endure pain and berserker stance. Some ppl might slot stomp but that’s it.

This is just on paper. I guess we’ll have to wait for a vid to show us if it is effective -in spvp-.

S/X+LB Build: Rabid vs. Apothecary

Fire Pineapple and the other guy -Ogre or somethin? – that posted their vids and builds as they seem to have spent quite some time trying the builds. Any other opinions -though they might be helpful- are likely to be less informed and miss leading including mine, of course.

That build is for roaming. Both builds don’t kill fast.

Full apothecary is slow in killing so anyone with a gap creator can get away. It’s tankier against 2 ppl but you won’t survive against 2 capable players -condi removal, 80, geared etc-. This is with a healing banner.

Rabid armor, rest apothecary is faster in killing and only thieves/BM rangers with the 1100 range leap get away since they are broken and cheap classes/builds. The healing is good enough. This is with a healing banner.

Mind you, I’d focus on what trait lines you want and then see what you need more stat wise. So if you go in the full healing tree, you need more rabid. If you go into the power or precision tree, full apothecary.

Remember that healing does not scale well, but you have two healing sources: signet and banner so it kinda compensates.

Try rabid armor, rest apothecary and see if you like the damage. If not, replace weapons or trinkets with rabid.

Look how OP your kittened evades are he’s bunker, you’re berserker, and it took him forever to kill a? guy with 918 toughness.

Ask your self as a non-thief: Would you rather fight a tanky target that you can actually hit? Or a glass cannon target that hits you 100% of the time and you can’t hit 90% of the time?

look how OP their heal/condition with 3.4k Armor . almost can heal 1.2k HP/ sec with inspiring banner trait

The real joke is the number of evades/teleports/ stealth stomps/ shadow step stomps/ unlimited get out of jail cards -instant zero cool down teleports on sword that bypass both stuns and immob- as well as shadow refuge abuses -dropping it before you go down so you remain downed and stealthed thus avoiding a stomp-.

Also..damage doesn’t reveal stealthed opponents.

When all of these cheap cheezy mechanics are fixed maybe then we will look at other classes.

The amount of evades the thief filmed are insane. The thief class needs to be fixed.

There are always hard to kill classes given your build such as bunker guardians.You can’t have anything as a thief. This isn’t real life where daddy and mommy give you everything you want.

Try playing a non-cheezy class and maybe use some skill instead of having a class carry you.

Nobody with an interest in challenging gameplay cares about what gw2 redditers say.

They are a bunch of care bears with little to no criticism of Anet. Just check their posts. Between their anime smileys and oo I look pretty in dis and dat, the posts is useless for serious gameplay discussions. Only for updates on pve content/ prettiest asura competitions.

No serious gamers or pvpers take them seriously.

Even the creator of reddit admits that it caters to the hive mind and care bears due to the censoring and monitoring.

I’m not surprised that some here take reddit as an example for a good gaming community. A PVE placid one, yes. Not everyone is a blind sheep content with boring pve content.

Care bears are the minority on the actual gaming forums where people are -admirably- not heavily edited for voicing their concerns.

I’m sure in reddit -lala land- care bears/ bad pvers/ farmers are the majority.

Anet, the response time on this skill is kittening garbage. Fix it, I shouldn’t have to spam the skill so it fires off 3 seconds later after the enemy has already move from the target area.

Also, its been brought up before, if you’re using it on elevated ground, it also doesn’t work. It’s a simple game mechanic, fix it.

That is all.

It should be an instant or semi instant AOE. I fail to see why a Necro mark of fear or an ele’s electric cc field are almost instant with no recognizable graphic the main hammer ability which you work to build it’s burst is so bad.

Hammer needs a rework.

I like the general idea of your Tank/DPS build, but with a few changes:

0/10/30/30/0 Guild Comp Frontline Hammer Warrior

Or a more selfish version for disorganized pug zergs and roaming:

0/10/30/0/30 Hammer Train Warrior

PS – Unsuspecting Foe + Merciless Hammer > all. Explanation in those links.

Against zergs both builds are squishy – believe it or not-.

This is because of the Valk armor/weapons. I still have to run in and out so it isn’t that effective for you to hold the front line. Guardians stick in there way longer due to protection/ block on healing -lol, I know- and 2seconds of invulnerability -even more lol- on their elite.

You can run in every 7 seconds for the hammer burst followed by either a 100b AOE dps or LB 3 to utilize unsuspecting foe as the hammer damage in that gear isn’t high at all nor did it pressure the targets. This obviously makes the hammer trait in the defense line less appealing.

The problem with 100b against zergs is given them a fixed target for 3.5 seconds. Anyone by now knows a warrior is a nicer target compared to a gaurdian. Also, the hammer is more annoying. So you end up either dying if you stay there or having to run in and out.

LB3 was ok in dmg. Especially if you back pedal while unloading LB 4/2.

This was against the weak zergs: 15-20 mans. Against higher tier ones it will be even worse.

Most of the dedicated zergs ask the warriors to go full tank/cc and leave the damage to the backlines -they usually go with Eles and sometimes necros/engys-. Why bother with mediocre dps in the front with reduced survivability while you can get away with more dps oriented builds hanging safely behind the front tanky line?

That’s why unsuspecting foe just dilutes your role in zerging. It’s ok for a 5man since you can get away with the hammer>100b thing since you got your buddies around.

Rifle/Longbow Build Critique!

Before I start, I suggest you check Pineapple’s condi war vids.

Some of the physical utilities are essential for ranged. The stomp is great because:

A-stun breaks thieve’s basi venom/ warrior cc -only melee class you have to worry about being close to you-

and

B- Knocks them away allowing you to almost unload a rifle 3 or immob then unload

Rifle isn’t a good condi weapon and it’s burst is wasted given your condi gear.

LB can go either way: direct damage builds or condi ones.

I understand you want to be full ranged but it wouldn’t hurt to say go for LB cool down reductions and stay on LB for full range and when someone gets close you switch to mace/shield and wreck them.

The AOE of LB making it superior to Rifle due to the fact that it pressures multiple targets and you don’t need to aim to hit thieves since you can AOE on top of your self. Also, it goes better with your condi build as opposed to rifle.

I’m not sure about the sigils. You might do better. Check pineapple’s condi warrior vids. He has been doing it longer than you and me.

You definitely need stability. CC warrior, thief basi opener, mesmer stun combo, necro fear combo, guardian circle of warding will eat you up without it. Those are common in wvw.

You need condi removal/reduction. At least berserker stance used smartly.

Get rid of kick. It’s not that good and you can use Rifle 5 or LB 5 and move away to be just as effective. The damage from it is crap.

Bolas is very slow and is even worse the further you are away from your target. Test bolas out..know the sentries? walk towards them while strafing and you will evade their bolas. That is how useless it is. It is good for setting up a kill shot -which won’t hit for much given your gear-.

Keep in mind that you have zero mobility in wvw using that build. You are also missing out on torment and confusion as conditions but that’s another flavor.

Its funny because in every 1v1 and 1v2 situations you NEVER DROPPED BELOW 90% health…ever. The only time when u dropped to 50% was when you had 4 people on you and still managed to get to your spawn point without any problems.

Please tell me dear sirs and madams how in the hells does this build seem balanced to you. I realise a big reason for this is healing signet and the pultry soup but come on, this kitten is broken. Between CC immunity, 550 HP/sec regen and a 4 sec stun on a 7.6sec cooldown, there is NOTHING your opponent can do about it

You just watched a video of a warrior fighting against horrible, facepalm worthy opponents and you come here with that? : p

Maybe you can relate to those players? Is that your skill level?

Well he has a point to a degree, it doesnt really matter if they are good players or not, only difference is it takes more bad players, which is 90% of wvw, to kill me then it would take a decent 2-3 good players. If there is more than 1 very good player that is coordinating with another, I am going to lose, that goes with any class, make model or build, but thats never the case, its always a group of scrubs with no coordination that try to take me out and get facerolled, such is life in GW2.

Hammer is not effective against good players. See how it works out in spvp dueling arenas. The hammer is easily telegraphed and blinded/dodged/ interrupted.

Trust me..with that build and gear..you don’t need 2 good players who are co-ordinated to take you down. One is enough due to lack of mobility and they can simply wait on zerker stance to wear off before condi spamming you. Same for stability..once they see your two weapon sets with no mobility they’l just wait a stab out by damaging you or condi spamming you from a distance and saving their cc.

A lot of ppl know you will open with a hammer burst and know you will pop stability so you won’t get interrupted.

Anything works against pve players -wvw- so no one should judge a build or anything based on wvw against bad players.

The game is on one track and one track only. Zerg for points, avoid enemy player contact because its not worth points. Hit some door, jump on seige and press 3 buttons.

How does one avoid enemy players if they are behind/on top of some door? Zerging itself isn’t actually what gets you points, holding objectives is…

Holding -> Defending -> Defending = Defenders -> Defenders are Players -> Defenders fight Attackers -> Attackers must kill Defenders -> Players must fight Players.

If I and my small group build three catapults on your wall, you don’t run away from us (well unless you have no idea what you’re doing). And we’re usually not going to do it if the zerg isn’t occupied elsewhere and, in the end, what happens is small team combat where players fight players.

But I’m convinced you and I play different games, possibly on different planes of existence.

Yep. You’re good at angry birds and he PVPs.

As for the WvW being catered to casuals, Kinda like the Wii was catered to casuals (kiddies) and so it fell behind the PS and Xbox.

The only thing keeping gw2 from mass desertion is the fact that there is nothing else going on.

Once ESO comes out, I’m assuming about half the player base will leave. Same thing happened to swtor when gw2 came out.

One year with no significant wvw content changes will push WvWers away.

PVE modifications to wvw -masteries for angry birders and useless ranks- won’t help because pve in this game is boring and offers zero challenge. Once ESO comes out even the pvers will leave in droves because it is a whole new world to explore which may hold more promise than gw2.

I think Devon deserves a kitten medal for his slew of responses in WvW topics.

Even if WvW is in a terrible place right now, and maybe it will be for several months into the future, he’s at least acknowledging there are issues and trying to offer the changes he wants to implement.

I just wanted to say thanks. Especially after seeing so few responses from Devs in other places where responses are desperately needed. (COUGH Ele forum..)

Let’s continue to repair the broken WvW climate.

It’s his job. That is why he was hired. Ignore the wvw community even more=profit loss.

Anyone can listen to complaints but not everyone does something about them.

I think eles got punched a little too hard with nerfs, but I think Anet did the same thing with a lot of the confusion changes. Confusion is one of those things that should counter thieves/eles, but I think eles could use some buffs.

If they got ‘punched hard’ then how come the dueling competitions have one third of them eles? How come eles are in top tourney games?

Sorry..but we can’t give you your over the top healing, lol RTL out of any fight. Be glad that the boon duration in pve has not been nerfed otherwise facerolling across the keyboard would be a bit harder.

Eles are fine. Try and condition cleanse against confusion. It works.

Here you go, this is why the build is OP, it can wreck people in 1v2 and 1v1 settings. He casually made it home even when 4 people got to him. Im sorry but this is plain OP.

The biggest offenders are signet of healing and poultry soup.

This needs a nerf

Any good player can take a warrior out. If you can’t do that solo then you need to get a better build and not run glass cannon.

Guardians -such as this guy- need to stop thinking they can walk up to a war, face roll across the keyboard and think they can tank their way through everything without even dodging. Try and use stability and timely condition removal some time.

Sorry but don’t expect to run glass cannon and not get owned because of it.

As for two players getting owned by a warrior: You have to be bad to do so..learn to cc..learn to dodge..maybe use some stun breakers and condi removal like everyone else?

Man..you play a guardian and you lose to a warrior? Wow..that’s is a new level of..maybe you should go back to discussing Aether blades and T3 cultural armor..

PVE is that way.

Kinda funny because when I am fighting people in wvw, even bads, they still manage to drop me at 50% health or so depending on the class, and I still have to try. Even on my thief or guard I still have to pay attention because not everyone is as bad as they appear.

This guy, he might as well stand there and take it for a good 2 min before he is at 50% life. If you think this is fine, you are delusional.

Allyour comments so far consists of either “he is fighting nubs” or “he is fighting uplvled”
The former MAY be true but still does not justify the fact the warrior takes no dmg the entire time and is able to escape from 4 people while never dropping below 50% health.
The later comment is downright false because he was fighting lvl 80s PLUS upleveled people at the same time. heck the first guy he fights is an 80 necro.

This post is so good when it hits the lips. People you decide are “bads” get you to 50% health and you still have to try. The first guy he fights “is an 80 necro”, except that’s about all you can say about the s-keying bad-spam that was that first fight.

I’ve escaped from a zerg of 10 people before. There’s absolutely no reason those 4 shouldn’t have been able to catch a M+Sh/Hammer warrior. None. Hell, one of the Warriors had a Sword MH, and he couldn’t catch him.

Just…. mmmmnumnumnumnumnum.

This is called game balance bro, unless someone is a lvl 2 uplvled nub there is no way you can get out of a fight unscathed. Look at the video again, notice the insane regen on the warrior. You can’t tell me its balanced

Kinda like the insane heals/boons on guardians and eles? Or the insane every 8 second teleportation on a mesmer?

How about the insane perma/repeated stealth thieves and being able to do everything from stealth while staying stealthed?

Unlimited teleports/stun breakers for thiev’es shadow step on a weapon skill with zero cool down?

Mist form stomps? Aegis stomps? Shadowstep stomps? Stealth stomps and reviving?

Yea..how bad can you be to lose to the worst pvp class in the game..I know..very bad..

Add finishing moves like Age f Conan:

You kill an asura, you punt him.

You kill a charr, you rip off his tail and strangle him with it.

You kill a norn, you rip his meaty thigh and smack him around with it

You kill a sylvari..I dunno..something to do with fertilizer

Humans are too boring to bother with finishing moves but I guess a good ol decapitation does the trick.

Hell..make that in VIP maps you gotta pay gems to access and see the cash rolling in.

Thats it already! 3 simple changes! Increase revealed to minimum 10 seconds, nerf mace stun to 1.5-2 seconds. Nerf the condition duration food to -/+15% maximum. There.. 90% of broken game mechanics eliminated.

Judging from your replies, you run a longbow to ‘clear walls’.

Two things are deducted:
You are a zergling and don’t run a balanced build to defend your self.

You likely don’t have the skill to deal with a..warrior? The crappiest class in pvp? Run stability and dolyak signet. If you can’t kill a mace warrior in that time period then you should stick with zerging.

Thieves I can understand since the stealth classes in this game are the most broken ones in the history of mmorgs..but losing badly and repeatedly against warriors to come post here?

The condi reduc food has to go since it punishes necros heavily – or any condi class-.

Roll 1-2 guardians, ele, put rubber mask over face, face roll over keyboard, pretend what you’re doing is skill and not abuse of lack of boon duration nerf+battery classes -guard/ele- then post on the forums.

Take out guardians/eles=you wipe like the rest of the pugs.

To each his/her own, I guess. Can’t blame you for knowing when to roll certain classes to carry you.
