GS burst: Has to be replaced or moved to somewhere else. Making GS burst like a HB damage is a great idea -with full adrenaline that is-. Or make the GS burst pull your target towards you, the more adrenaline, the further the distance of the pull up to 1200 range.
GS auto: I’d rather have the dps of axe auto than the current one. That or add chill,immob but not cripple.
100b: 3.5 seconds being stationary is unacceptable with other opponents near by. Anyone can respond during 3.5 seconds and thus ruin your 100b. Reduce channeling time while maintaining the damage OR reduce channeling time, reduce damage and provide evade like the mesmer Or make it instant burst but I’m afraid the damage then would be so weak it wouldn’t be worth it.
GS3 : good as is.
Sword 4 It should be an ability to pull your target towards you or pull you towards your target. Lots of professions can pull the target towards them when they aren’t melee yet warriors can’t do that and they are the main melee class.
Sword 5: it should be either a bull’s charge or like the charge of rampage.

I want devs to PLAY THE STUPID GAME and realize how broken it is. THEN i would like the devs to FIX IT before my THIRD guild disappears from the game….
We ported our PvP Aion guild to Guild Wars 2, only me and my friend left now. Funny, they played Aion PvP religiously but wouldn’t give sPvP a go, only played WvW all the time. My current guild I joined due to it being mostly oceanic and PvP based, yet, they all seem to be PvE now.
spvp in this game is a glorified series of successive duels.
No healers: Lack of group synergy=boring pvp and OP classes that can do everything.
I don’t blame them since wvw small scale adds a bit of unpredictability to the game though not enough to counter the zerging.
So many guilds quit and more will.
But where you want to go? I like the concept of 3-way fights.
ESO is in very very closed beta. DaoC? No sorry not again. And thats it. No other games I know and i cant find any.
Oh forgot TSW with Fusang. Even worse than GW2
Currently there are no 3 way fights. It’s 3 way zerging and clicking 1 while following a blue dorito. Not enjoyable at all compared to the old DAOC days.
They just messed up big time when they alienated the more dedicated player base by removing group vs. group or guild vs. guild combat and catering to casuals. I’m not sure those casuals will keep the game afloat. The removal of healer classes in pvp reduced the group synergy significantly.
I doubt people can stomach the DAOC graphics and Anet got a break with the delay of ESO or that would’ve further contributed to their declining customer base.
I hope they correct certain things as ESO will be an improved clone of gw2.
Never gonna happen to the OP. This was answered a year ago: can’t punish people who play at late NA hours -oceanic servers etc-.
They are customers and Anet won’t alienate them.
Some ppl play wvw mostly, lock them out and they call it discrimination/quit the game=anet loses money. Nope.

Let me add the caveats that BP is better than their rank (they are realistically #11) and EB has lost two of it’s largest guilds (they couldn’t hack losing to BP.)
Either way, every week for us has been a curbstomp, 6 on us, 2 on others (though CD fought really hard that one week!)

People quit because zerging -which was boring and stale to begin with- Got even worse.
Why would anyone go into wvw and follow a dorrito all day clicking 1? Or sit on siege all day pressing 1? Play angry birds..
It’s sad to see how the WvW devs took a beautiful concept and utterly drove it to the ground to be more boring and less rewarding than a game of angry birds.

Certain guilds on HoD resorted to same tactics where they would build siege for 30-40minutes to attract attention but they ended up getting a zerg instead zerg then get rolled.
Waste of time but you can try it your self. Might be different on your even zergier server.
Sadly the game does not favor good players just zergs and casuals.

Before they nerf that form they need to nerf thief mobility for which people have been complaining for a YEAR in TONS of thread.
And yes to be fair, the dash is outrageous and needs to be nerfed significantly. Combined with stealth it can get you past zergs easily.
I run a necro Norn and I can just break out of any fight/zerg chase I want. I rolled a necro norn because necros have crap escape abilities.

If you don’t compare your class with the other classes then you will never get it fixed. Ppl should know what the other classes are capable of and what they are actually getting in comparison.
Literally everything we do can be done with another class much better.
Many of our single abilities are inferior to other classes.
Our shield vs. engy shield+toolkit
our evis vs. heart seeker

We gave up a long time ago on fixing the class so now we want to be on equal footing at least to some of the other classes in their abilities.
-Drop rifle, take Longbow. You will do fine with longbow if wearing zerker. Longbow is superior against groups and is relatively fast in rotation compared with rifle. Rifle 3..pew…pew..pew..oops wait..they dodged in the middle =/.
You can fire your arrows and switch and use warhorn then switch back again.
-The lack of endure pain or AOE knockbacks might be problematic if you are being focused. The rifle knockback won’t help against multiple targets.
-No stability. One ring of warding and you’re kittened.
-Stacking sigil weapons: Stack on NPCs near spawn and leave the weapons in your bags. Use different weapons with weapon sigils when you can afford them. If everyone in your group carries stack weapons and drops them in their bags after, stacking should be very fast as soon as you take off from spawn.
-Your shouts won’t heal for much. Wear a zerker amulet in spvp and test out how much healing you get using your build.
What I hate about shout builds is that they heal for little and you have to sacrifice a lot to get that build.
I am usually running with hammer+sw/wh and also have a hard time killing mesmers, usually because its hard to target the real one again, once he creates another illusion.
If i can, i switch to rifle because like already mentioned, the kill shot still hits stealthed targets and the auto attack doesnt switch to the clones when they are greated but your targets keeps on the mesmer.
One of the biggest problem with stealthing/cloning is that you have to MANUALLY move the cursor..around the screen..and target the real mesmer..What if the mesmer is behind you? Pan the camera..move the cursor..find him..and click.. Of course..you are being DPSed the whole time. One of the stupidest class designs in this game.
Tab targetting won’t work because you will target the decoys.
Autotargetting should be locked on the target automatically as soon as it reveals or clones. Even if you know the target it doesn’t matter..because you have to ‘browse’ to find the real mesmer if he is standing still.
Mind you, this was even worse on game release with the insane shatters/confusion. Now it is still terrible. A year into the game and nothing was done. Speaks volumes about the competence of the devs.

Evis is much weaker than it used to be. In fact for PvP mainhand axe is not the best choce anymore considering the auto attack damage nerf. Final Thrust on sword actually deals around the same damage on foes under 50% health, which is typically when you used Evis anyways.
I have NEVER seen a Evis one shot for 16k. I think at most you’ll see Around half that on glassy light armored foes. Unless you post a screenshot of a combat log of it hitting like that I can’t say I believe you. Sounds like another case of a non-warrior thinking warriors are OP. Is this PvP or WvW? Either way I doubt you could hit for 16k without having a ton of vuln stacks and that would mean multiple people would of had to stack them without damaging you to get a “one shot.”
It’s doable with full GC. I do it all the time for kitten and giggles. Try full zerker+food+power stacks+sharpening stone+ full power line for 15% power on full burst.
Try that with kill shot+long bow. Killshot one shot an up arrow in the front of the zerg, they go to rez him, even before waiting for them to go to him use your Arrow 3, then 5 then Burst -sometimes I use sigil of accuracy to fill my bar immediately-. You will drop 1 or 2 extra people beside him because it hits so hard.
For the OP, toughness means nothing in this game. If you don’t have protection up, you CAN be bursted..hard. If toughness was so good, why do you think the warriors with the highest toughness in the game are the worst class?
I’ve been full tanky and been hit by 7k backstabs. Means nothing.
The main thing is that the person attacking you is a glass cannon warrior that can’t evade dodge away as easily and so it is fair. A thief on the other hand is unfair because they can stealth/teleport away and reset the fight over and over.
That’s way you see people complaining of GC thieves in wvw and not warriors.
Wait till you run into terror chain burst necros :P

Maybe you have a better chance by using longbow 3 at point blank range. They probably won’t see that coming (also because longbow animations are normal AKA ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO READ).
That is assuming you are close to them. You will have to gap close and use arrow 3 to do so. It will be hard with the multiple GOJ cards but you’re right. It’s the optimal way.
Rifle:
Killshot can trace and hit stealthed/teleported targets if you initiated it before the stealth/teleport. They never expect you to hit them with it while stealthed and so never dodge it. You can also use bolas to set up kill shots since they usually have no way of removing immob..just stealthing or teleporting which won’t save them from the 1500 range killshot. They have no way of getting out of an immob/killshot unless they daze you or distort to evade it. They can distort while being immob/stunned.
Longbow:
The problem with Longbow burst and longbow 3 is that they are so slow they can be seen a mile away. You have to use one and then immobilize before they dodge. If you immobilzie early, they see it coming and teleport away.
If you are a ranged warrior, you have to have an instant way of removing immobilize on a short cool down or you will be exposed to their 10s cooldown combo.
Summary:
After all that is said and done, you won’t win against a tanky mesmer. Their tankiness allows them to reset the fight as their heal is on a 20s cool down while yours is on a 25-30 sec cool down and you are not as tanky. You can’t keep up if you are glassy/semiglassy as your damage is absorbed and you will be whittled down slowly if you are tanky.
Tanky mesmers rely on the fight lasting longer because they build up stacks of might.
If you watch the tanky staff mesmer videos, they take on 2 or 3 targets. You need to really have good co-ordination between you and your ally to take one down. Even then it isn’t guaranteed and takes too long which is bad in wvw. It’s like fighting a raid boss, lol.
‘Good’ mesmers are players who play the class to win by knowing how to abuse its mechanics. It isn’t skill when the most Op class carries you but I think the majority deludes its self into thinking that.
The class is God mode and the warrior is the weakest in the game and are both a joke in their own way. Till the devs stop playing it, it won’t get fixed.

The problem with the mesmer class they have too many get out of jail (GOJ) cards on short cool downs plus access of the class to stealth -which is broken in this game-.
You also have to move your cursor on the screen and click to target the actual mesmer..basically making you..a clicker in a fighting game..huh..
A mesmer can keep hitting you while not even facing you by producing decoys from dodging/skills on the fly to set up a shatter.

Access to 2.5 seconds of evade to anything you can throw at them every 10 seconds.
They can completely bypass your downed state defenses by: Stealth, teleport stomps and distortion. Google for vids.
GS+axe/Shield can work due to good mobility and reliance on sudden burst. I like it because the eviscerate is so sudden, their GOJ cards won’t help unless they anticipate it. I usually hump them before Eviscerating.
Sword/shield is more effective given the 7s cool down on immob/stun followed by a 100b. The problem is you have to land the immob and get enough adrenaline to do that every 7s to overcome their 8 sec teleport. 100b is so slow they can easily work around it and you are exposed to other enemies burst while standing there.
Melee Approach:
Defensively:
GS3 or if you have to, Shield 5 to run through their shatters. If they stealth in the beginning of the fight, they are setting up for a big stealth shatter.
You might need mobile strikes to break out of their leap/immob/dmg combo in a timely manner. Not sure if bogged march+food+runes is fast enough. Expect this every 10 seconds if they aren’t running away.
Offensively:

If you are REALLY want to use bull’s charge, never use it initially. They teleport away. Your bulls is on 40s CD, their teleport is 10s. They can teleport away while stunned or immoblized even though the stun breaker was ‘removed’ from staff 2. Their other stunbreak/teleport is on 30s cool down.
1.Use GS 5 or sword 2 or GS3 then GS4 to gap close then cripple to force the 10s cool down teleport..that’s 1 more teleport to go.
2.As soon as they use the staff teleport -or blink- to get away, gap close again using bull’s charge. They will stunbreak/teleport again. You can use any of the other gap closers to do the same.
3.If you are using sword or mace, feel free to burst them initially even without a full bar to burn the two teleports+decoy.
Most mesmers have poor condition removal abilities and rely on food and runes and so won’t get away from the immob once their two teleports are down.
After every successful immobilize from bolas -or flurry- Unload with GS3 before 100b finishes.
Never use 100b unless their two teleports are down. Even then, they can distort or daze out of it. If you have axe and shield, Shield 4 then eviscerate right after 100b and GS3. You don’t have to turn around for shield 4 and evis as that will be done automatically.
As a general rule of thumb for eviscerate, always force a dodge out of them before using it. Most people will dodge as soon as you are close or it is up so always save your eviscerate after their dodge. Few ppl double dodge.
If they stealth on the spot -a decoy suddenly appears and dies right away- that means they have used decoy and are still there. If you threw an immobilize on them then continue to damage on the spot. If you threw a stun, that means they are moving away and so use GS3 immediately.
All their teleports work against stuns and immobilize. If they don’t break the stun, they simply teleport them 1200 in range away from you so by the time you walk up to them, the immobilize/stun is gone. They can also distort or daze you to avoid another burst.

Theives/Ele’s more survivability than guardians?
When are Anet going to fix these balance issues? How is it even possible after all this time that thieves and ele’s have more survivability than guardians but seem to keep damage, speed, cc, crazy boons and heals on top of it aswell? Don’t even get me started on constant stealth and spam to win broken initiative…
Shouldn’t it be if you build yourself for crazy survivability you sacrifice damage or other parts of other builds? How is it they seem to just do everything above average with crazy survivability?
Then of course after forever fighting them if they start losing just cloak, ride the lighting, mist away….no risk…
So they don’t even have risk or have to commit to the fight can leave it whenever they like with no issue…unlike other classes.
So how can Anet call this balanced? Anet sucked at balance for years in GW1 and one of the reasons they gave for having crappy number of skills in gw2 and no secondary profession mechanics was because it made it easier to balance….
Well I think that ended up being completely wrong because Anet is still sucking at balance now for 12 months in gw2 as well….

The sole reason I do not play sPvP is because of how its gear system works. No I don’t want to unlock how I look again, thanks, I’ve already spent over $50 on transmutation stones alone.
Making WvW similar to spvp in gear will never happen due to people like these.
Anet needs to make money off of casuals and Larpers like this poster. They also need to keep the T6mats going by pushing consumables on you. Now two high lvl consumables will cost you around 85 silver an hour.
They make more cash on the current system than implementing an spvp one.
I’m all down for cosmetics and stuff but the stats should be equal to spvp. That won’t happen because people want to bring in their ascend and exotic gear and show them off. They should allow you to get your ‘look’ in there but remove consumables and any stats above those of spvp.
This post should be closed as we all know Anet will never agree to this.

Nice troll comparing Thief to Guardian (aka the most carried class in the game) give a Guardian a hammer and a staff and they will not die. I’m almost always the last man standing on my guard, because all I have to do when my low is hit staff 4 and I’m good as new. How’s that? I don’t even need stealth to reset the fight.

Gotta congratulate the Anet team on the stellar design of the class. They will be remembered in the MMO community for years to come as the guys who came up with the most broken stealth class in history.

People with more than four friends shouldn’t feel constrained to only run with five when more than four of those friends are online. This is basically the crux of your problem. People have too many friends that want to play together.
You might not have considered this, but a group’s number will sometimes increase as the night goes on when friends log in. We (meaning AD) have never called more people in just so we can go get PAXA or any other guild. The implication of that is extremely insulting. We usually try to leave small mans alone and avoid them when we have more numbers.
Go ahead and move up to fight EB. They have some great players. But GF generally runs with 10 and Sekz runs with 15+, probably more. The other servers in that region of the bracket that we have played against don’t have any small man teams that run consistently. You will be fighting zergs much more often than in the lower tiers.
The best server we have run across as far as having the most capable and challenging players in under 10 man fights is NSP. I’m not saying they have the best players. They just have quite a few good to very good players.
edit: I think you would find GF willing to set up 5v5 duels, but in the open field you are going to be running across anywhere from under 5 to 15.
How AD wins vs pugs and up arrows: Roll guarduians with a tough hide on their forehead to roll it across their keyboard and call it skill. Sadly it reflects on the current game state and casual gamer mentality.
Most of these 5mans will crumble if they don’t roll guardians against proper groups. Sadly it reflects the poor balance of certain classes and more so in PVE.
You have to have 10 these days to compete because if you run into any groups on voice with two guardians minimum your 5man will get rolled. It’s just the way the game is built:
Numbers+Guardians over skill.

Don’t listen to anyone who names the T 1 servesr: JQ, BG and SOR as havoc friendly.
When I left those servers, some people were posting on the forums here saying they were.
They are not. I was the only person running with 5mans on ALL 3 servers and it was zergy as kitten.
Middle tier would be your best bet. You would have to talk to people who run 5mans.
Seeing a 5man on a server does not constitute it a havoc friendly one. It just means 5mans run from time to time and they might get zerged constantly till they quit>>another server.
Also, you might want to know the time these havocs run at..after midnight might be less zergs around etc etc. Might not comply with your game time.

WvW is world vs world, three servers fighting, its a game of stratergy or bruteforce.
There will always be zergs in war, in real life and in games.

Anyways, now with the new changes in most of the classes i can freely say that thief is not even in the top 5 professions to spvp.

Man some people are so bad that the most broken stealth class in the history of mmorpg can’t carry them.
Crafting a full exotic armor will take 30 days and the effective amount of time spent doing it will be about 10 minutes.
If you want weapons, four of them, you will need to wait an other 20 days and spend about 5 more minuties in the game making crystals and crafting the actual item.
Can people stop exaggerating there is no grind what so ever involved in making this armor.
The way they use cooldowns is infact removing all “need” of grinding and still make the items valuable. Something similar should have been in place for all exotics imo so crafting infact was something worth spending time doing.

Armor will be tradeable but the charged quartz is accountbound and on a 24 cd.
There is no grind but there is a 2months + time restriction to craft a full set of armor, weapons and trinkets? You also have to log on daily to charge a crystal or it will take even longer.
Sounds like a terrible system for mere exotic items..
The armor isn’t tradable. Check your facts.
Only a fan boy/redditer/hive mind member would compliment Anet on forcing these restriction on mere exotic pieces on their declining player base..

These aren’t ascendant items..these are exotics..why would they place these restriction on regular craftable exotics?
The grinding is just getting ridiculously worse and worse for any new items.
You have to be 400 at Jewelery, armor/tailor/leather worker, weapon smith/artificer/woodsman.
Basically you have to be 400 on your account with 2-4 professions. That takes about what? 40-50 gold these days?
Also, you have to wait 65 ore more days charing a crystal every day to get a full set.
Basically a way to milk you out of your money and time for mere exotic pieces.
Anyone remember how they said there will be no grinding except for cosmetic items?

Then they started forcing 2months plus to craft exotic items and learn 2-4 professions..

Anet and the thief class designer/balancer will be remembered as the biggest joke in class/profession design. Wonder if he’ll/she’ll ever get a job if his/her name comes out. I’d love to know their name to avoid any game they are involved with in the future.

The class that cannot be caught in combat or out of combat
The class with the best or close to the best talent synergy
The class with the (lets not lie here) overpowered Stealth mechanic

The class that is as easy to play as a warrior.The class that offers NOTHING worth while to a group.
The class that is next to totally USELESS in a WvW zerg
The class that is Pretty much a leech in most large skirmish in WvW.
The class that is forced to Scout all the time because that is all they can offer.
The class that is forced to Kill quick or die by zerg
The class that is forced to roam solo or in a small group with other thieves, because they are forever alone and shunned by society and their mother doesn’t love them either.Tbh while I find stealth stupidly broken and overpowered all else seem like a bad trade off for a game that is group pvp oriented
No..you offer a lot in a group. The problem is most thieves don’t want to change their build/gear to adapt to a zerg/group play. I have 5 sets of gear in my warrior’s bags to adapt to solo, group or zerg play.
There are viable thief builds/specs for groups/zergs. Venom sharing, group stealth, stealth finishers and revivals. Glass cannon isn’t smart due to the AOE flying around but you can still go a bit tanky and still hit the squishes at the back hard. You can have your warrior group buddy or guardian set up a target for you that can’t get away: Warrior LB5, Sword burst immobilize or guardian ring of warding. A smart warrior can set up 7 seconds of immobilize/stun for you on a clustered group.
As for zergs, if you wanna hang around with a zerg that means your a lemming that isn’t worth responding to but i’ll bite..
Sieging a tower? Go keep an eye out for incoming reinforcements and intercept them, even better if you are more than one thief.
Defending a tower? Most defenders use boring iphone games -siege- to defend. Whatever class you are you will get wiped off the wall with smart siegers/large numbers.
Zerg vs. zerg face off: I have no idea why anyone would bother staying in this situation except the pvers..i mean..‘WvW pvp players’..Just disengage and keep cutting the reinforcement route to their zerg.
I really have no idea why someone rolling a thief would run with a zerg..on that matter..why would anyone who enjoys a challenge roll with one?
Yep with the lack of boon nerf if you’re running glassy and your against a bunker>>run. All it takes is one keyboard face roll from a tanky guardian.
I would prefer it if you went back and edited sound FX with each EVis like: BAM! ShABAMBAM! Ooooh BaBy with a moan! etc.

Roll a thief, get farmed by them or leave the game. I thought Anet’s position on the matter for a year made it clear for everyone?
This only applies if said player is inexperienced, up leveled or simply a poor WvW player.
Best class in the game with the most kills on probably every server, Guardian. We know the player with THE most kills across all servers is a guardian. I will put Alt Healing up against stealth in 3+vX any day.

That said, look at the match-ups and you can already see how broken the old “ratings” were. You have three close matches but two of them would have never happened in the old system. TC is stuck in limbo because they are not a T2 server but there’s no room for them in T1, so someone is either going to get stomped by them or by whoever is pushed out of T1 for a week. This would be unavoidable under any system because there are four servers to three spots. In T7 19>23>17 which doesn’t fit any expectation (so this needed to happen to properly place these servers), and T8 has and will always remain a lopsided match-up.
So, in NA, the only “predictable one-sided” match-ups that aren’t the limbo-trapped TC match-up are T3 and T4.
EU is all wonks of messed up from the old system but I spy with my little eye four, maybe even five given how lenient one with their metric, of “close” matches.
Old matching system was crap. Hence the attempt to replace it. So we got it Replaced them with an even worse one?
Tell me..if people aside from Devon favor the new system..why do we have a 17 page thread filled with complaints from disgruntled customers mostly? Even the mindless reddit/hive mind/fanboyz stopped defending the new silly system.
Nobody Likes getting spawn camped or logging on to get rolled by large zergs week after week.
There are countless valid suggestions of fixing this on the forums by various customers. I see their suggestions and pleas continuously ignored. I see it as stuberness by the person responsible.
It’s one thing to make a mistake. It’s completely another to insist on doing it over and over again.
