If you don’t like playing a cheap class then go complain somewhere else since Anet won’t do anything about it.

tell me how are offhand useless with sword blocks not getting canceled from range attack and axe 50% damage buffs. and hybrid sword build could definitely use them 5% damage more then ever before now.
but to mention that ive already using dualsword and the extra block already saved my kitten a tons with extra bleeds.

and as of now before the patch, why the hell would you freaking choose furious when you can have other trait and leave your awesome damage speed buff sor passive when you can have one utility that give you tons of adren,

Sword off hand:
4 causes bleeding. Yep..awesome.
number 5: Blocks one melee attack, doesn’t cancel with ranged. Cool.

Shield: 4 is a stun that interrupts healing..sounds useful..
Shield 5: Is a block for ranged, melee and doesn’t cancel after one melee hit. Sounds superior to Sword 5 in avoiding burst or being focused. It can also Reflect Ranged.

I fail to see how sword off hand is superior to shield.

As for your condis, you apply lesser types of condi in an inferior way to necros and Engys. Why would anyone take you over a necro/Engy with their boon ripping/bunkering+cc for an Engy and their much superior conditions? Now necro has Torment and access to burning.

So we can’t, the problem is still there…

1 BLIND will ruin it because it removes the conditions after we lose adrenaline (meaning after it hits.)

It won’t do anything against blind…

The funny thing is..for whatever reason i don’t have problems with blinds. Maybe bc i don’t faceroll keyboard i don’t know..if ur blinded press 1. The olny time its can affect u is while casting skill, but if u used ur burst when u got closed to ur target its was a mistake as in many cases they simple just dodge away, block, blind or whatever.

Maybe you should try real pvp.

Sure, if u playing on EU i can duel u if u wish, and prove me how bad i am.

I guess you don’t play much SPVP, your warrior with that pictures setup could not even push my necro past 75% health

HGH engies and necros are actually easier thing to kill for me. And i beated many of them that was rank 40+ in tpvp. Feel free to ask me for tips how to play warrior, going to sleep now anyway so gn. Also i bet my mace/mace TROLL build can own ur warrior anyday anytime.

You should contact Teldo about getting in on those tourney duels. I need a good laugh.

Actually, why not ask Teldo for a duel and frap it?

Till you do that, I don’t think anyone would take you owning bad engies seriously. You didn’t think that spvp ranks reflect skill rather than time played glory farming, did you?

The BIG nerfs are that Berserker’s Power and Heightened Focus are being moved to Grandmaster traits while other more useless traits are being moved down.

Its was needed to balance between pvp and pve and..i see more buffs than nerfs. Also sitting on adrenaline is just wrong, they should have deleted these traits completely

You should go back to slotting those two maces, buddy. Next thing you will tell us is your spvp or WvW rank reflects skill or knowledge with a class..

Go join the Dueling tourney posted by Teldo and post your video for us. Till then, I don’t think anyone should take you seriously with mace/mace.

Another warrior pretending the class is A-OK and thinking hot joins are L33t Skill, Bro!

Nerfing warriors fixes warriors?

This Podcast Explains exactly what is wrong with cleansing ire, it won’t help us at all. Its basicly what other classes get, except a lot harder to use since its based directly on our F mechanic. Which can be avoided easy by what we are weakest again: Immobilize, Cripple, Chill, Blind.

If you are having trouble with Chill, Criple, and Immobilize then you should try Dogged March + Melandru Runes (+food for WvW) and/or Mobile Strikes.

If you are having trouble landing your Burst skill then try pulling their dodges before hitting F1.

I personally am really looking forward to the patch.

See..the problem is we have to compromise a lot to overcome movement imapairment. We have to sacrifice our whole rune set as well as a minor trait or major trait (dogged march or Mobile strikes). You have to build your build to get it.

Let us look at the other classes and if they have problems with movement impairment in sPvP where balance is build around:

-Thieves and mesmers: Shadowstep, stealth and teleport bypasses any movement impairment as well as CC
-Necros: Superior condition removal/transfer on weapon skills and their heal which removes every condition. They are ranged. They don’t need to chase a target.
-Engys: Ranged, can pull the target towards them.
-Rangers:Ranged, BM has a 1100 range leap, pet is always on you, its hard to movement imapir both a bm ranger and his pet at the same time
-Guardians: Bunkers in spvp high end tourneys don’t need to chase anyone around. They wait for you to come to them.

So as you can see, even though we are the class that has any real problem with movement impairment, we are ‘buffed’ with sketchy mechanisms to barely come at the lvl of other classes to combat movement impairment who don’t really need to in the 1st place.

It just blows my mind when warriors are happy with compromising so much to overcome movement impairment in competitive high end tourneys to kitten their DPS and cc etc while failing to realize that the other classes have it way easier and they don’t need to close gaps as much.

It’s like giving a fat kid a skate board and telling him: Here..now you can catch up with those marathon runners driving a car..

So let me get this straight..you think the nerf is warranted because your class couldn’t get in a cof p1 farming group? I have an idea..why not form your own group with no wars or mesmers?

That is the stupidest reason I have ever heard to nerf the warrior.

And with 27k health and around 2.7k armor you can make good use of it.

About DotE… well, it’s another damage increase. Everything helps getting that final stretch to completely deplete the health of the guardian. If that works.

Yes..because we all know health/toughness is what mitigates damage and not protection/regen..guess that’s why warriors are better bunkers than guardians or are tougher than Eles while still dishing out damage, huh?

DotE is crap. Increased damage that can’t even break through a single protection in a best case sceneraio.

Show us a vid of you destroying a good bunker guard with DotE, please. Till then..

Hey anet, thanks really, for these shadowstep buffs, steal (1500 range trait), making the shadowstep trap more viable, hard to catch reduced cooldown and more. so thanks really for the COMING patch!))))

lol..thieve’s complaining about mobility..I don’t know who makes me sadder..the thief that is so bad he needs more mobility or the dev that plays one and thinks its the lack of mobility explaining why he sucks at it and thus decided to grant an instant teleport of 1500 range ..I guess some classes were designed to help the casual players.

Thieves is the most broken class, they rely on their cheap stealth + backtab to do something,, they can perma stealth and they can be loosing the battle but oh wait, he just restarted the battle again,, and oh com on! he can inmovilise me while he is doing me his backstab, talking about cheap mechanics….

Well obviously you’ve never played a thief b/c you’re just mindlessly complaining for the sake of complaining while also spouting false information. Also exactly what part of what I said was a lie? They were lies, and its not false information actually i have a thief so i really know how the things work, you just need to catch someone off guard while you are in stealth and VOILA backstab him with the stone poison keep attacking with your autoattack, if he is not dead yet, spam heart seeker, then profit.

The other player has 0 defenses to that, and if for some stupid reason you fail that cheap abuse of backstab then you can simply re stealth and try again with all your stealth utilities and skills, you can escape and restore your health to full if you are in trouble, and then try again your cheap backstab spam.

So, you need to be a fortune teller or able to see the future in order to prevent someone from one shot you from stealth…. seems reasonable.

No. You need logic.
Anything X/D will need to land CnD to stealth so kite the user and they’ll either have to use a utility to stealth, and those are on 30+ cooldowns. Hide in Shadow and Blinding Powder last 3 seconds, as with CnD and CnD can’t be used before the stealth ends naturally. In other words. Make yourself hard to hit for 3 seconds.
As for Shadow Refuge, it can last up to 12 second but it’s pretty obvious when it’s used. It also is one of the most counterable stealths because it confines the user to a small space and if they leave or are forced out via knockback the user will be stuck with Revealed.
D/P is probably thief’s strongest set, despite being very initiative hungry. It can stack stealth via leap finisher into its smoke field, however if its Heartseeker hits something it’ll instantly lose that stealth when stacking so a lot more difficult to stack while engaged. Though stackable, each individual leap is worth 3 seconds.

On to Backstab. Backstab has an 806 damage rating. Half the strength of 100blades in one shot and it’s users commonly use a trait to ensure the skill will always crit. However the skill is short range and it’s damage is halved if it strikes the front of the target. Unless it’s the initial strike, the thief will have 3 seconds to land it, which can be diffcult if the target takes preventative measures. In a fight, when a D/x thief stealths, 9/10 times they are going to try to get behind you. A warning sign for an initial strike backstab is Basilisk Venom. If you’re toon turns grey, that’s your cue to pop a stunbreak. If performed correctly the thief will have blown his opening strike and attack buff utilities they had used in preparation. In addition, it’s rare that a backstab or even a backstab combo can one shot a player, and it’s impossible against players that aren’t going glass cannon.

The long and short of it is, most stealths last 3 seconds, backstab only hits high from behind, and you should be ready to react in WvW at anytime, not just because or thieves, but because anything can come over the hill and gank you.

Also a pro tip. Run an armour set with Toughness in it. Gear like Knight’s and Soldier’s will make you so much more useful to your server then Berserker’s.

Also, Why should everyone else run toughness gear to combat a single class while the thief can get away with being a glass cannon? This is GUild wars 2 not Thief wars 2 where everyone has to build their class around your own..

If you are any other class that cant stealth,teleport, break out of stun/immobilize, teleport stomp, access to best elites in the game, 2 sec invulnerability on 10 sec cool down, etc..then yes..mesmer is OP

If you play a mesmer and think it’s your skill that is helping you win..then no..it’s not OP

Sums up every Op class in every mmorpg. I’m surprised the devs aren’t bored playing the class and decided to balance it by now.

Cool story. I’m not speaking about other elites here I’m specifically talking about MOA.

Every other Elite is far more useful than Moa, because Moa is useless. Your argument is invalid.

Regardless of what all you pro-moa clowns are saying this thread is addressed to the devs – any skill that removes all abilities (even utilities) for the victim renders the toon a sitting duck for 10 seconds. The 5 ability has also been nerfed.. Since you guys are so focused on balancing the game in the next patch why dont you give thieves ballisk venom a 10 second buff and remove the ability to use a stun break because pretty much that has the same effect as a MOA. While you’re at it give eles the ability to turn people into a block of ice that removes all their abilities. for 10 seconds.

Just throwing out ridiculous abilities that don’t belong in the game so you can see how ridiculous this ability is.

To say it using your words: Regardless of what ridiculous things you anti-moa clown say. Moa will still be useless. Also, your suggestions are hilarious. While you’re a Moa, you can still move. You even get a skill that lets you run away. While you’re under the effects of basilisk venom (without being able to stunbreak it), or while you would be an ice block, you can not move an inch. You can do NOTHING. While you’re a Moa, you can freely run around and you even get a skill that lets you run away faster.

You can move but you don’t have access to stun breakers, condition removals to remove immobilize and no access to your damage or mobility aside from the moa 5 charge? Yea..I guess you neglected to mention that fact and the fact that you can safely lock someone out of combat/prepare for burst down in the next 10 seconds.

The only reason some mesmers down play this is because their class is generally OP that they don’t think this elite which trumps many other classes elites is worth while.

Think what your doing is skill? Roll a warrior and lets see that skill carry you instead of your class.

Moa Nerf

Lately I use Tuna Morph on Malchor in PVE. Just for lolz. The whiner deserves the embarassement.

But seriously, it may contribute to your death but the same counts for other class elites like i don’t know let’s say thief Basilisk Venom? I mean come on! It completely stones me! All the damage I take during those 1.5 secs contribute to my death! …

See my point? It’s the purpose of every skill to “contribute to your enemies death” in some way or the other. The skill has already been nerfed to be blockable/dodgeable to make smart play in 1v1 rend this skill useless. And as already stated above, the value of this single targeted skill in group fights is rather insignificant compared to others. If you die, that does not mean your team dies. It just means you had bad luck/ didn’t play well enough and need to respawn and help the rest of your team again.

You are comparing Bas venom to Moa? Wow..next thing you would be comparing the warriors OP fury/might/swift boon elite to it!

I once tested with a power sword build in tpvp.

I used Soldier’s amulet and tweaked with traits, runes and the jewel to get high power, crit chance and crit damage. Thanks to blademaster (+10% crit chance with warrior), right near Attack of opportunity, getting a lot of bonus with sword was really easy (I could get around 80% crit chance, 40% crit damage).

Only problem was that sword didn’t have any way to spike: all I could do was auto-attacking, nice against glass cannons, less against other enemies.

I think it was extremely good in group fights, but I found myself a bit lacking if I had to fight an elementalist or a guardian (bunker ones).

I want to see how Hamstring and Final Thrust will turn out: they might have given me just that thing that I felt was missing.

Instead of Berserker’s Power, I’ll use Desperate Power. AND I will finally be able to use DotE. Yeah. Bunkers, beware.xD

The moment i saw the “leaked” patch notes i started leveling a warrior…mainly because of those points:

- leg specialist = immobilize on sword auto-attack.
- insane confusion output in CC-builds.
- multiple cleanses every 8s ontop of immunity against cripple/immobilize/chill.
- both Burst Mastery and Destruction of the Empowered enabling HUGE burst builds.
- still the best mobility in the game.
- all heal skills improved.

Warriors really start to shine in group battles of ~4+ people since it’s just impossible to ress someone if you are getting 3k+ auto-attacks + insane bursts.

Warrior is one of if not the best class to play in WvW zerging and roaming right now and i have seen good warriors absolutely crushing good duellers of every other class.

Sigh..let me sum up your reply:
-You play fotm classes, mesmer/guardian/thief..you will be shocked to realize the warrior class won’t carry you end game against players who know how to use/abuse their class.
-You don’t even play a lvl 80 war
-You think that WvW and duels in WvW with bad players is a measure of a class? You do realize the stat difference between a spvp amulet and a full set of gear+asc gear+Oil+25 stacks from bag weapons+40% condition reduction food does not accurately reflect spvp and thus the actual state of the warrior?

WvW is filled with bad players. I’ve dropped so many thieves/mesmers in WvW only to have them join the group and say..how’d you kill us? your a warrior..
I don’t have the heart to tell them that your bad players and your class just didn’t carry you enough, I guess

Best Mobility?
Not the best mobility in the game. You have to use Sword/warhorn and this puts you at a disadvantage against stealth bursting classes such as thief/mesmer. Mobility is useless against a guardian except to run away to get your heal back and run back. The best mobility in the game IN COMBAT with VALID weapons/builds that address all situations and not in specific duels against specific classes would belong to thieves and mesmers. Stealth is the Ultimate broken OP mechanic in the game along with instant teleports. Thieves and mesmers have access to both and both stun break and bypass immobilize even though in the new patch the stun break is removed they can still teleport while stunned but stay stunned which is the same thing

If you think healing is what matters to survivability then I dunno what to say..Stealth, teleports, Invulnerability to damage/cc (guardians and mesmers, 10sec cool down on mesmers) Aegis/Protection, high regen/protection battery class(ele), tons of dodges and toughness (rangers) is what gives you survivability. Heals are just sugar coating

Am i the only one who dislikes the possible spectral wall change? I dont want another fear. I liked the instant 10 stacks of vuln, it was good for pve and every class has some skills which arent that suited for pvp. People are still just gonna avoid the wall so its not going to get much better in pvp, but now its completely useless in pve.

I’m sure we can all live with the lack of vulnerability on one ability and finish the dungeon 1 minute later than usual. Even brain dead people can PVE this game with ease.

^yeah Eviscerate not critting does suck….there are ways to guarantee that it crits (unsuspecting foe, etc.) but they aren’t 100% reliable. But yeah, I agree. Eviscerate is hit or miss. Awesome when it hits and crits…lackluster when it doesn’t.

About unsuspecting foe:
It is not reasonable to waste a shield stun for an Eviscerate or a hammer stun for an Eviscerate. Why should we compromise so much for one of our few valid abilities?

Also, ppl tend to forget that stun breakers, mesmer teleports, thief shadow steps can break out of stun and thuse force you to waste the Evis. So not only have they bypassed your stun but they have also bypassed your Evis in the process if you are using unsuspecting foe.

They said shadowstep does not remove stuns anymore but from my understanding is that they can still teleport away thus making it still unchanged, really.

It’s no secret to anyone who has played any amount of SPvP that warriors are seen as free kills. Sure there are one or two builds out there that so you don’t suck as bad, but generally, the cards are stacked against warriors in battle.

For those who play warriors, what do you think would even the playing field?

In my opinion, the problem boils down to poor trait slot choices and long cool downs.

Having the arms of a T-Rex and being required to be in your opponents face to do damage becomes a real problem when you have to combat not just your opponents stun breaks, evades skills, rolls, and invisibility but their crow controls as well.

But what do you think would even thing’s out so people would quit viewing them as free kills?

I think warrior’s are fine as they are because they are the only free kills to me

I wanna see a Ranger on next SOTG because if these patch notes are true it will kill this class. Dev’s you should start to hire high ranked players instead of family members for balancing.

That is called balanced. The devs don’t need to hire from their ‘family members’ to realize the ranger was OP. I guess people have to adjust their play style or practice more.

I get what your saying but its too inconsistent. The fact is that many of those traits simply are not popular now. They are simply being outshined by better traits. On top of that you account for none of the changes to warrior that are in place to counter them. You are literally trying to make a balance argument on traits that simply do not fit into many builds. Your talking about Compounding Celerity when most mesmer simply do not need a trait like that to get around in combat. I say wait and see how it all balances out. From what I read and the way I see it warrior done right might actually move to the top of the food chain.

I know a few top mesmers I run with in WvW and in spvp that are excited about compounding celerity. If you doubt that they are good I can arrange a duel for you to judge.

Experienced good mesmers are happy about that..what does that tell you?

As for some of the changes made to thief and mesmer in unpopular abilities..that along with the Negative changes to their popular ones will cause a shift. Remember how people complained about lacernous strike when it 1st came out?

What traits for us warriors exist that counter what I mentioned in detail? Please post a reply in detail mentioning this abilities we have to counter thieves and mesmers effectively since there obviously aren’t at the moment since we are the bottom of the food chain.

It isn’t like I am unfamiliar with the class. As far as compounding goes I assume you talked to a lot of Phant mesmers (this has no real effect on shatter builds) but you act as if it is impossible to maintain swiftness on mesmer as it is. Considering that I saw no improvement to condition management it would be much more useful to get the remove a condition on heal skill if you are going into that line or the other useful traits. Honestly if you run air of centaur, staff, or focus maintaining mobility is simply not an issue. I would imagine this has to do with catching up but someone running swiftness will still have an advantage including other mesmers more likely to shatter on your phants while on the run.

Talk to who you need to but if you play the class you would realize its not that big a change. Like I said the possible changes are too large to start spouting off that xyz will be the biggest issues. I do not need to counter you I am telling you until implementation there is simply no way to tell.

Honestly what your friends say isn’t incorrect (a buff is a buff) for some builds but my time on mesmer just allows me to see the bigger picture when it comes to this issue.

that being said patch isn’t out yet so who knows how this will all play out or if any of these changes are true.

I’ll remember your reply and I will post a thread reminding you when mesmers start rolling that ability heavily in spvp

mh – damage nerf? I hope hamstring actually will do highter dmg than it is now, also 1s of cripple is a joke. Also lets see how much dmg on final thrust will be.

Mace f1 stun increased the way i have it susgested..With siigl of para its will be actually..4sec. Also increased dmg will make it even better..

Too bad its still does lack any real mobility, cripples or whatever, also a fixed (?) nerf to mace trait. Pulverize still at 1sec cast time which is too long.

mh: seems like a nice dmg buff, but placed in the last hit of chain is a terrible idea. For me it is a mobile hb now which will be hard to pull off but if do, its will be rewarding far better than hb.

lower castimes was needed which is a decent thing, howered backbreaker needs something betetr than just “2” sec kd against single target. I think that if blocked its should do something extra.

Staggering Blow is still selfroot skill. Its should be mobile and blocking hits while casting.

No much changed that are actually needed. Brutal shot should either give us a 2sec stun to land killshot or at least 2sec immo. Killshot castime itself reduced by half.

Aimed shot should actually..chill rathen than cripple

And naturally rifle needs to pierce by default

Just a few points:
F1 sword is good atm. It gives you 4 sec immobilize. You can initiate it then immediately switch to another weapon to attack -such as 100b or axe. Sure you lose on the sword burst damage but what can you do. The bad thing is the radius of the F1 sword is so bad that you actually keep missing your main target unless you are on top of him/her.

Mace off hand: Still bad. The mace 4 is not good. Do you think it is superior to shield? I doubt it.

Axe off hand whirl is useless because you are susceptible to damage/cc while doing it. Also, it still does not beat shield. I think the auto axe nerf was a kittened way of making axe off hand better. The complaint was always that axe auto attack hits harder than axe 5..so the solution was to nerf our axe auto attack? Sounds like more of a PVE change cof maybe?

I get what your saying but its too inconsistent. The fact is that many of those traits simply are not popular now. They are simply being outshined by better traits. On top of that you account for none of the changes to warrior that are in place to counter them. You are literally trying to make a balance argument on traits that simply do not fit into many builds. Your talking about Compounding Celerity when most mesmer simply do not need a trait like that to get around in combat. I say wait and see how it all balances out. From what I read and the way I see it warrior done right might actually move to the top of the food chain.

I know a few top mesmers I run with in WvW and in spvp that are excited about compounding celerity. If you doubt that they are good I can arrange a duel for you to judge.

Experienced good mesmers are happy about that..what does that tell you?

As for some of the changes made to thief and mesmer in unpopular abilities..that along with the Negative changes to their popular ones will cause a shift. Remember how people complained about lacernous strike when it 1st came out?

What traits for us warriors exist that counter what I mentioned in detail? Please post a reply in detail mentioning this abilities we have to counter thieves and mesmers effectively since there obviously aren’t at the moment since we are the bottom of the food chain.

But you must admit, if it IS the state of affairs, hammer warriors are one of the builds most in need of reliable condition removal thanks to how hard it gets hit by Blind. To force hammer warriors to choose between excellent adrenaline gain and condition removal or better hammer damage and cooldowns strikes me as being particularly cruel.

That is assuming the condition removal for burst abilities happens before the burst damage/effect is applied. Otherwise..meh..

The problem is that, they buffed everything, and what happens when you buff something that was already balanced or OP, it becomes OP, or very OP, and what this have to do with us?, well, warrior was at the bottom of the dirt… they are buffing them (i suppouse? but actually i dont see many good things like other classes) but they are buffing everything so warrior will stay at the bottom of the dirt, so… nice “BALANCE” there, its like they always want to balance in favor to thives and mesmers.

Warriors vs. Thieves:
They got Torment. It remains to be seen if it is only on one venom or not. See discussion above for movement.
Sadow return is no longer a stun breaker. Though this sounds as a much needed nerf, shadow return does not break immobilize but you can still use it thus creating a gap between you and your attacker whom by the time they reach you, immob is gone. I’m thinking that they can still shadowstep while stunned but remain stunned as well..but that doesn’t matter since they moved out of your damage and by the time you get there they are gone..so..no nerf..

Gap closing:
Long Reach: This trait now increases the range of Steal to 1500, up from 1200.
Steal: Recharge reduced to 35 from 45.
Sleight of Hand: In addition to dazing your target, this trait now reduces the recharge of Steal by an additional 20%.
Yep..thieve’s were just hurting and needed gap closers with insanely bigger distances on shorter cool downs…I guess stealth/shadowstep was too difficult to use to gap close on someone who can’t see you.

For warriors: see the above.

Boon ripping: Now engys can boon rip. We still don’t have any boon ripping.

Also..compare the changes we got over two patches vs. the laundry list the necromancers got. I’m very pessimistic regarding our chances vs. Necros which were problematic pre buff in spvp in skilled hands.

People tend to focus on their class changes while forgetting to look at other classes’ changes in every patch including this one. Did you read through the full notes to see what other classes got?
The changes to your class are half the game..the other half is what other classes got since spvp is about you and them.

I’ll start with mesmers:

Mesmers:
The two biggest changes that will affect you as a warrior:
Compounding Celerity: Movement speed per active illusion has been increased to 10%, allowing for 30% movement speed when three illusions are active.
The mesmers were laughing their kitten off yesterday..you thought getting on top of a mesmer before was hard..
Torment: Added a new Condition called Torment. This does damage every second (75% of a bleed), and double damage to foes that are moving(150% of a bleed). Stacks intensity.

Other changes that mesmers got similar to ours:
Chaotic Interruption: This trait has been moved to the Grandmaster tier. In addition to inflicting a random condition, this trait will also apply a 2 second immobilize when interrupting an enemy.

Halting Strike: Damage dealt when interrupting enemies has been increased by 500%

This is based on power.

Now compare it with what we got for interrupting:
Distracting Strikes: This trait now applies 4 stacks of confusion for 8 seconds upon interrupting an enemy.
Remember..confusion is based on condition damage. How many hammer warriors here use condition damage gear? Yep..that’s what I thought.
It is also in a line not a lot of people go into when using hammer builds and would rather get other abilities.
Let me be generous..say you got 200 condition damage from going 20 into arms tree+100 base condition damage that means for all 4 stacks you deal an extra 350 damage..Compare that to what the mesmers get (correct me on this confusion stack calculation plz from : http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Confusion)

Summary:
-Mesmers can now move at a speed of 30% extra at times and can punish you for following them by Torment.
-Now almost every warrior -since the majority go into discipline- will move 25% faster since warrior’s sprint is really the only ability in the discpline adept line worth taking -signet mastery if your a ranged warrior?-.
+
-Also, Dogged march is practically the only worth while minor defense trait and I’m assuming this will compliment the 25% movement speed. Shield mastery is meh since they did not combine it with arrow reflection.
This means that if you are a melee warrior,you will most likely take Dogged march+Warrior’s sprint. So will this be enough to deal with Torment and mesmer increased speed movement? I dunno.

GS nerf:
This is a nerf in the discipline tree for GS warriors -no..good GS warriors use GS for mobility+GS3 immunity not 100b nooblet action-. Reason being is Heightened focus is now beyond GS warriors reach since they rarely go 30 into discipline and would rather go into tactics, strength, arms, defense etc. Remember that in spvp crit chance is less from the amulets compared with wvw.
GS is really ignored by the majority of the players. GS3 (whirlwind attack) evade to cc/dps etc every 8-10s seconds is nothing to be laughed at. It helps when a thief is on you, avoiding an opener by basilisk venom , get out of an engineer elite or are avoiding a shatter.
How many warrior abilities evadeaside from the GS3? That’s right..none..

Removing Conditions with Burst Abilities

The condition removal sounds iffy and will just bring you up to speed with other classes that suffer less conditions than you -since chill/immob/cripple is not as big a problem for ranged classes as it is to us -.

For it to be effective the condition removal has to be applied before the damage/effect of the burst happesn -e.g. blind/weakness ruining your burst damage/effect every time-.

They are just giving you a piece of candy then slapping it out of your mouth with the other hand..a new condi that punishes you when you move applied by thieves/mesmers and possibly other classes, too?

Thieves and mesmers will be even more OP now given the condition that damages you when moving. No idea why the 3 stooges thought to add that condition to the two most mobile classes in the game. That means if you try and chase them around you will die faster…guess which class in the game has to chase people around the most? Also, guess which 2 classes benefit from you sitting on your kitten not moving around the most for a nice burst/shatter?

More stun breakers for other classes might be bad news for hammer warriors.

For them to come up with a new ability for necro and give a new OP condition to thieves/mesmers doesn’t sound like a good warrior patch to me..

I have to see an implementation of this in an MMO that wasn’t a completely horrible idea. If you stay still you die, but if you move you die? I hope the implementation was well thought out, but somehow seriously doubt it given the classes you gave it to.

I don’t agree.

I’m using the knights armor with Divinity runes.
Main weapon: Hammer second: sword + warhorn

I’m fighting lots thiefs in WvW, no problem to bust a thief. 9/10 times i’m winning this battle.
Whenever you use ur hammer, u have to bash the thief with F1 followed followed by 5 —> 4 --> 3 —> F1 --> sword and the thief is dead

One shadowstep from a swordthief -or even a smart non sword thief- will bypass any kind of cc or immobilize you use. They have it up on demand all the time with zero cool down.

The best you can hope for if you are good at what you do is them running away and denying you your badge. What they do is they will just reset the fight repeatedly till they blow your cool downs and get lucky with you missing a hit.

Hello, I was thinking about lvling my war, it’s only lvl 3 atm.

I watched some videos etc, and saw greatsword especially has a lot of “character locking moves”. Let me explain, asian mmo’s generally have a lot of skills locking their character to the ground, and not allowing the player to move during those skills. I find this absolutely dreadful.

I’m leaning towards a zerker warrior (wvw), maybe pvt if it works, but seeing a zerker war still has more hp and armor than my carrion thief, I might do it.

Will I be forced to play in a way that locks me out of free movement non stop?

Armor and hp in this game don’t matter in damage soaking when it comes down to it. What matters is if you have protection up.

Stealth in this game is the most broken and OP stealth in the history of mmorpg -I played DAOC, WoW, AOC, Warhammer online and SWTOR pvp heavily-.

We have two of the longest position locking moves in the game: hundred blades on the GS and the burst on the rifle. I rarely 100b without frenzy and a single thief heart seeker does the same damage instantly with no channeling.

WvW: Clerics, Shouts, and Math

I played full support healing/cleric scepter/dagger ele, staff ele, Guardian and warrior in WvW group fights. Warrior is the worst, unfortunately due to lack of boon sharing/stabiltiy etc etc.

If you go full cleric you are squishy. I have full cleric exotics and full toughness line and I still am squishy.

You can have a mix of the two warrior relevant healing gear: cleric and the precision/vitality/healing one. That way you get vitality and toughness while still getting the healing bonuses.

The problem with going 300 into defense to get the healing stat and survivability as well as 30 to get the healing shouts and banners is you are left with only 10 extra points thus gimping your self severely.

You struggle so much to put out a constant regen which ticks for 330/second best case scenario -roughly- which does not stack with regular regen and does not stack with any other fellow warrior banner healing.

The shout heals might be nice for solo or small group situation but the main problem is the bonus from shouts is the effect and the heal. If you only want the heal..you wasted the effect..if you only want the effect..you wasted the heal.

I run with 5-10 mans all the time and the team that has the most guardians wins. The imbalance in this game is just too much with the holy trinity -guardian/thief/mesmer- . Guardians bring Aegises, Virtues, healing, 2 CCs -one of which interrupts blocking- group stability, retaliation etc etc. With the lack of boon duration and retaliation nerfs then they are even more OP than spvp.
They also have better dps while dishing out all that support than a banner healing warrior. CC? Well stability kinda negates all your CC from the opposing team guardians AND stability stacks so 2 guardians can give 16 seconds of stability at least.

This game does not tailor to healing your buddies at all and so every time you go into that line of thinking you get punished by not being rewarded as say if you went dps. The terrible returns from healing power is the best example.

They made a huge mistake in pvp by removing the healer class and this caused a lack of group synergy as well as OP classes that can do everything.

Go warrior. They can do more than a thief in high end fotm. Anything below high lvl fotm or cof p1 farming is just easy for any class any build.

I have a warrior thief guardian etc. Guardians and wars are in high demand. Having said that, pve gets boring with all of them.

The main reason is simply that at the point that outmanned does that, it encourages servers to have fewer players on to take advantage of the stat boost. That, in turn, will cause people to yell at other players for logging on and taking away the buff.

That is a valid point. I am not sure if it is strong enough to completely dismiss the idea of e.g. giving the NPCs and structures added toughness and health for the outmanned side. Assume there would be no player bonuses or they would be limited to max +30% health + toughness increase when the side is very badly outmanned e.g. just 10% or less of total population on that map. Now those who are playing on the badly outmanned side will have trouble even scoring any kills, because the large number of enemies can always revive the downed player so fast (I know there are things like stealth stomp, but let’s not make all of us roll into thieves). At least I would rather have more human players on my side than some minor buffs.

It would be fairly simple to avoid some server intentionally abusing this system. Example of abuse one server gathers all their forces into one giant blob and teleport from one map to another, while all other 3 maps are empty and thus outmanned. To prevent this just make the outmanned buffs so that they never trigger if the total population of all maps for that side is >= 30 %.

I have a question for Arenanet:
Are you planning to do something major to address the WvWvW population and coverage issues?

e.g. free transfers to those servers who haven’t won for ages or to those servers who have low WvWvw population? Or different scoring system which rewards the server points divided by their population percentage e.g. a server with 50% of all 3 servers WvWvW population will get twice less server points, compared to a server with 25% of WvWvW population. Players would still get the same points from objectives.

I would like one of the devs to actually answer this as well. I’m getting pretty fed up with my guild giving it our all when we are on, only to get rolled the rest of the time because we don’t have coverage. Aside from transferring to a mega server there is absolutely nothing we can do to ever win against a server with good coverage during the day or at night… This does not make it for a fun game experience at all.

They said they would do nothing to address this overnight coverage. This has been stated when it was even more of a problem at launch.

Easy Hacking Fix:
-Patch Up your guys Privacy Policy
-Create a database of all known hacking and botting programs
-3 pt database check to see if the players is running the program
~On client Launch
~At Character Select Screen
~Switching zones
-If a player is running a hack and the check confirms it via database check:
~Flags the account as being a possible hacker, No actions are taken (no auto bans)
~A message is displayed to the correct anet staff to investigate it
~Anet takes the proper action
-If no action is taken within 30 minutes (anet asleep on the job) a 24 hour ban is issued as a precautionary event. Message sent to the correct anet staff saying "acctname has been automatically banned for 24 hours for running ____ hack. "
It would then be up to the anet staff member to increase, decrease or let the 24 hour ban stand.

Lots of successful games run a system similar to this, if not a lot more complex or robust…. why GW2 is stuck with an archaic report and wait 2-3 hours system is beyond me.

This would involve work and directing people away from the staggering job of crafting dragon penyatas. And how dare you provide simple logical suggestions?

PVE is the major aim of Anet. Don’t believe me? How many of you have been spawn camped and zerged in the past few weeks using this incredible new match up system while dragon penyatas filled with virtual candy were passed around?

Unfortunately, this particular mechanic is far too susceptible to any number of hacks of this sort and while we can do as much as possible, it doesn’t prevent it from happening all the time

I’m sorry Devon but i have to jump in here. It has been suggested by me and tons of other people that by implementing a simple mechanic were the Alter of Power is completely invulnerable to damage whilst the Keep Lord is alive would stop the type of hacking we saw during the Orb of Power era.

Has this suggestion gone completely ignored all these months?

Orbs need to return to the borderlands soon with a flat PPT value per orb held and the fail-safe mechanic.

They know all these suggestions as I’m sure they check the forums. The problem is too little man power is put into wvw or class balancing. This will be the death of pvp/wvw, obviously.

It really just blows my mind how they can not change the mechanics of orb carrying to bypass the single hack that paralyzed their dev team.

The downed state is terrible..it should be removed. It only further imbalances classes.

some warriors like the hammer, personally i think a traited longbow is essential for WvW, but that’s just me.

my advice is unless you are going bullrush—> frenzy —> hundred blades, then you should skip the greatsword in WvW.

as for your original question, sword/warhorn or sword/shield is probably one of your best secondary weapon sets. if you utilize the greatsword for mobility properly then rifle or longbow are a fine choice as well. but if greatsword is going to be the weapon you use more then any other weapon then sword/warhorn for the mobility is what you want.

since mobility is how Warriors stay alive in WvW.

How many times do we have to go over this..GS is taken for mobility on 3+5 and for the invulnerability on 3, mainly. Just use bolas pre 100b to get it off if you really want to or Sword F1 burst then 100b to get it off.

I bet you half the warriors out there are not aware of the invulnerability on GS3.

Check the initial builds by Avliss. the 0/25/20/0/20 would be your best bet at achieving balance. Its a bit squishy so youl have to learn to use a few moves to get out of trouble. Watch the video and youl pick up on them.

There is also another thread about someone using GS/hammer with vids/tips etc on these forums but you might have to go back a few pages.

Hammer+Sword/warhorn is good for running with zergs and can be good for soloing but there are many builds/classes that can overcome that combo.

100B Burst build

If you don’t have good condition control then sooner or later you will get dominated when you come across a class that uses it heavily.

Also as someone mentioned, without mobile strikes or dogged march your get kited easily with half the classes in the game.

Can this build work?Yes, if you have a baby sitter meaning someone distracting the enemy or being the focus while you sneak in from the side. But then again..almost any class can sneak in from the side and do good dps given certain builds.

We are the only class that needs to melee in the game -guardians wait for you- and we are bad at condition removal. Trying to address those problems as a warrior class, we sacrifice too much and end up a useless class.

Gems rewarded to winning server?

We would like to have a system that rewards servers at the end of a matchup based on their performance and are working out all we’ll need to do to make that happen. Ideally it will give extra rewards for winning while still rewarding everyone for participating. All that being said, it’s hard to know what form the final version will take. Hopefully we’ll have something to get everyone excited to fight for victory.

Translation: The zergier your server..the more we will reward you.

The current system overwhelmingly favors numbers. Downed state..AOE limit..Terrible match ups..

The only reason I see zerging being rewarded is to force players to pay for transfers before inevitably having to merge servers down the line anyway and handing out ‘free’ transfers then in a way.

What makes you think you can produce a fair reward system that favors skill over numbers if a simple orb hack can’t be fixed for months..

I find a hard time believing zerging is going to improve based on what we are seeing.

Orbs will never come back in the form they had as they simply were too easy to hack around. With that said, we are definitely working on finding a suitable replacement for the best parts of the orbs, while avoiding as many of the downsides as we can. It’s not simple task though, so it isn’t as simple as deciding to do it one day and finishing it the next. Our goal is to get a new and improved version out when we can, but we can’t say yet when that will be.

How can you NOT address a simple hack of the game you created, run and monitor?

Change the mechanic of carrying the orb.

Track down and ban people hacking it. I’m sure tracing who picked it when a hack is reported is easy. Track how fast it moves. If it moves beyond a certain speed then ban the person.

A few slaps on the wrists will address the issue.

It is not easy to be done in a day but you had months to fix it..

Uh huh. How about grading the stat bonuses. The more outmanned you are, the more stats you have.

I don’t think the excuse that you don’t want our feelings to be hurt will fly. Nobody yells at more help and if they do then we block them.

I’d rather block annoying people then get crushed when outmanned and spawn camped.

I gotcha. Great points. I think that leg specialist at a bear bone minimum helps land an earthshaker. And really chasing people down. I never suggested using bulls charge and hammer shock / bladetrail back to back.

I do need to reconsider the applicability of 100blades in some fights to your point. I agree that there is blatant openings where I am subject to being murdered if on more than 1 opponent

Maybe you have to pick up frenzy to make this work better?

Or just use GS3 to interrupt 100b 2/3 of the way.You will get the feel to when you need to do that. That way you can squeeze in the damage and at the same time use the immunity from GS3.

The problem with a regular 100b is it roots you for 3.5 seconds. Unacceptable in fast pace spvp where sitting still means death. You might have dropped your target with your slow kitten 100b but his buddy just dropped you then stomped you thus defeating the purpose from your 100b.

At this time it requires an unacceptable amount of set up to get it off while a single heart seeker does similar damage with no set up and is spammable. That is totally unfair to the warrior class and should be addressed ESPECIALLY after the nerf of the frenzy which was used in our only valid pigeon hole build.

I would have no problem with a trait that increases frenzy to 100% speed and 50% recieved damage -even though thieves get no penalty and rangers have no penalty..I don’t think ‘reduced healing recieved’ or ‘drained endurance’ matter for kitten because no body bursts when they need healing or need to dodge..also you have stealth/endurance restoration to combat that-. But hey..us warriors are used to not having our class carry us.

I don’t know if you can beat them. I just came up with the most 1v1 oriented build I can think about. I killed some thieves, but I don’t know whether they were garbage or not.

The idea is: if we can’t win with it, we can’t win with anything.

Here is how to tell a garbage thief from one who knows how to abuse his broken mechanics -I never call players being carried by their class good-:

You can’t kill them..they just run off to reset the fight repeatedly trying to see if you will kitten up and blowing your cool downs. If you don’t -because you are a better player doing this on the worst class in spvp in the game-, they run off.

These changes are just an embarrassment, honestly. I can’t believe that a dev replied to a thread about it saying they will change the description.

It makes you think this is the only thing they are able to do. I would’ve just added it without touting the change as a great achievement.

FYI, our endure pain is 4 sec..it was nerfed from 5 seconds.. (5 sec if traited, now), a ranger is 6 sec..ours is 90 sec cool down..ranger is 60s and 48 sec cool down if traited..

Our reactive endure pain is bugged since release. Its 3 seconds not 4 seconds in duration.

Test it out in spvp.

I understand they try and squeeze in useless changes to show they are ‘working’ to their superiors but this has been going on for months.
