The 2 sec of invulnerability works fine for me.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
How do you have it on both? I thought transmuting it transmuted the original and didn’t make a copy to give to another character?
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
It’s called Mind Spike now iirc.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
I also have 1854 condi dmg without stacks, and 42% crit
Is 1854 your base condition damage?
because i have full exotic rabid gear(with run of the undead), weapons and accessories and i just reach about 1600 base condition damage. My build is 0/20/20/0/30.
Is there something i am doing wrong?
You could put 25 points in Chaos for the minor trait Chaotic Transference which gives you 5% toughness as a bonus to condition damage.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
I was running my Rabid build (0/30/25/0/15, Melandru runes) Staff + Scepter/Pistol and it was fun.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
Illusion of Life
Does this mean you will now die if you don’t kill anything during the vengeance state?
Downed state, unless you have been downed too many times.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
With the most recent patch and nerf to confusion, the Staff weapon is now become weaker and now Mesmers are being pigeon-holed into using greatswords (most effective in glass canon builds) to be viable in WvW.
Please take a look at staff and the 3 conditions that it randomly casts. The random Vulnerability is pretty useless for a staff and changing this to Poison instead of Vulnerability would make Staff viable again.
Please also look at Mesmer Scepter. Scepter skill #1 (Ember Clone) still does not cause confusion even though the tooltip states that it does. This weapon was weak before the confusion nerf but is totally useless now.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
20 in dueling isn’t always needed.
5 in Illusions is really the only ‘mandatory’ trait points.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
lol

I personally think anet dont give a hoot about wvw as in their eyes its only ‘casual’. Instead they let the community sort it out by transferring (and i would expect some real money to be involved with this). 9 months the game has been released- so much promise and potential at the beginning, shame its an epic fail now
EDIT: Vz only win due to superior numbers when the other servers are off peak and also the FACT that they map hop. CHANGE THIS. remove wp from all maps. Once you enter a wvw map you CANNOT TRANSFER to another map for 2hours. It wont stop them from map hopping but at least when they do they will be stuck on a map for 2 hours
EDIT EDIT: even if deso and sfr combined forces it still wouldn’t be enough because of the TIME coverage – at peak times its very balanced. but vz only win due to their better 24/7 coverage
Not being able to map hop is a terrible suggestion.
The statistics say more gun control laws = more violent crime.
Theres nothing to argue about here, and theres no opinions. Just cold, hard facts.
What?

Hrmmm im curious if this will apply to theives and engis smokescreen so far only seen sanc and sw being mentioned
It applies to all.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
Mesmer scepter (the only ranged MH weapon a Mesmer has) is now useless (again).
Mesmer staff builds are now nerfed (changing vulnerability to poison would be a good change).
I guess Mesmers will be running greatswords now.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
1. So you need a zerg to kill the Quaggans at watergate?
2. Why?
3. So you need a zerg to kill Dolyaks?
4. Not too sure about this. Would not upgrading towers so you don’t give points to the other teams be the norm?
5. North camp is the easiest supply camp to defend. Building gates just means more zergs.
6. Maybe.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
Influx of 5 signet warriors and thieves incoming.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
2.1k Toughness, 3k armour using Staff + Sword/Torch is pretty tough.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
I agree. F2 should also do poison damage. Staff vulnerability should be switched to poison damage as well.

I’m not sure why everyone is saying you don’t need precision for condition builds. Sharper Images with high crit makes a huge difference, especially with staff.
Rabid is an amazing set for condition staff mesmer.
Maybe I should rephrase my original question. Would taking more vitality be worth losing a few stacks of bleeding per Sharper Images?
I’m thinking yes. But I wanted to find other player’s input and potentially introduce this stat combo to other Mesmers utilizing condition builds.
For most of my builds including my condition build, I run with vitality on the weapons. I like to sit around 17-19k HP for WvW.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
I think elementalists have the best downed state.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
Why wouldn’t you put 20 points in Dueling for clone on dodge trait?
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
Put your first 5 points into Illusions.
Staff is probably overall the best weapon for a Mesmer.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
Allies have 10 sec to portal up.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
Yak’s Bend, we are the gatekeepers to T3.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
I don’t think he was about to delete his ranger to make a mesmer.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
I noticed you put 5 on illusions while having Dom-X and Duel-IV. You don’t need the extra points there because the weapon cooldown traits you got already reduced both gs and sw phantasms. you probably would want to transfer that somewhere else, or change the wep CD traits instead.
5 in illusions further reduces the cooldown and is mandatory for most builds.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
pew pew MH pistol mesmer sounds cooler!
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
I used to run this build but have since switch to 0/20/30/0/20 with staff+sword/torch (Seven Mirror’s) with great success.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
Also don’t allow stealth in JP’s (especially EBG) because thieves have an advantage. Also, make 25% movement signets not work because it gives an advantage to jumping. Also, remove guardian leap in EBG JP because it allows them to make certain jumps rather easily. Actually, just make everyone that enters the EBG JP a non-textured pixelated cube with no skills or abilities so there is no advantage or disadvantage to anyone. Maybe we should also do this to everyone in wvw….
See what I did there?
Also, do you really want more people spending time in the EBG JP rather than fighting in WvW? People would spend hours in the darkroom failing miserably.
Portals are fine.
PS: I made 6g the other day portaling people up in EBG. Shame on me!

Roaming is basically running around on a wvw map, usually solo with no objectives in mind other than to fight other solo or small groups of enemies. Most roaming builds (for any profession) are more successful if they have some type of way to buff their out-of-combat speed to move around the map faster or to avoid enemies if needed.

Skip Mind Stab.

The Karka Shell Earring is a ‘celestial’ type accessory that was available during a one-time event in South Shore (south sun cove or w/e the name is). It is no longer available.
This is incorrect.
Please see the wiki entry:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Ancient_Karka_Shell
Oh didn’t know you could still get one. Regardless, the Ascended items are better anyways.

5 in illusions then 20 in dueling for deceptive evasion imo.

Way to break the interwebz Deth!
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
Mesmer isn’t a hard class to level up but it is slower as you really don’t get optimal traits until lvl 40+. Also keep in mind that Mesmers are often both ranged and melee (although there are ranged only builds) to be effective, depending on the purpose of your build.
Elementalists can’t swap weapons but when you add in the 4 attunements they have, they actually have more weapon abilities than other classes (20 as opposed to 10). And it is kind of a PITA to unlock all those abilities in the first few levels though. Don’t forget to unlock your water abilities either lol.
Never played an engineer.
I would play one to lvl 20 and if you don’t like it, roll another and try it. I mean you can have multiple characters.

I’m aware you are all posting about public chat but I just wanted to post a reminder that commanders are never suppressed in squad chat.
Without reading all the reponses after yours, here is the problem with Squad chat:
1. It looks like Squad allows a maximum of 25 players, so this limits Squad Chat
2. When in a Squad, you can no longer see other commanders (blue doritos) on the map. This makes joining a squad often a detriment to map coordination between commanders.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
Even more so.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
I would suspect that pistol helps somewhat with the running away part.
More so than focus or torch? Pistol is going to stop 1, maybe 2, people from you for a very short bit. Focus can slow any number of people and pull several as well. Torch gives stealth which breaks targeting which can be quite huge.
Focus would work well but torch doesn’t stop runners.

Was that your normal confusion build (except running Pistol) or was that a Glamor confusion build? Still using carrion weapons for confusion?
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
First time I’ve seen this, Whole EB green. Can’t believe we took it all. GO DB
And 4 waypoint
Hope those doors weren’t too rough on ya.

This looks great. Going to give it a go this week. I am about to try your Phantasm build first and see how that plays and then I will be swapping to this. Need to farm some karma and tokens for the Exotic PVT gear, as I don’t have much gold and can only properly afford rares right now
I recommend doing ac runs for the Pvt gear, if you aren’t one of those that equates dungeon running to flaying themselves with a spork (as was an analogy made earlier in this thread). Just make sure you find a couple people who know what they’re doing. Ac really isn’t very tough, despite the large numbers of people complaining about it. You can also get a nearly full set of Pvt gear from orr karma vendors if you have excess karma lying around.
PVT (Invaders) gear from WvW badges works as well.
