Well this is all very good work (much better than the commander tags colors). It looks very well done.

Now please get the content rolling: new WvW maps, guild halls, GvG content, new high-level dungeons, news areas, new skills, etc. So that I can keep enjoying this game.

and somehow materialize 2-3x the number of players in Blue/Red.

12 good level 80 can wipe out a zerg of 50 pugs easily. WvW is the law of the jungle, if your tired of losing then start fighting back, bring a good guild and clean the place.

Yes it’s a small patch; maybe it is that way because of the drop in sales.
http://www.gamespot.com/articles/guild-wars-2-sees-massive-drop-in-sales-this-year-but-that-s-no-cause-for-alarm/1100-6417784/

An expansion model would have been a better model than a free LS model business wise, specially since the game is desperate for new content (which would attract new players more than levelling changes).

But it’s still hard to believe they have 300 people just pumping out the Living Story and packaging it for China. I mean how can it not be disappointing when after a year waiting all that WvW gets are 3 tags colors and a siege disabler?

Meanwhile another big name MMO is getting 2 new huge competitive maps released soon. Is it because they have monthly fees or because they just decided to do it?

Gee, that’s a rather old article. Perhaps, something a bit more current would be more appropriate.

I don’t think so, the stuff we are getting now is stuff they have designed at that time.
12-18 months in advance is a common time-window for MMO development considering there is at least 6 months of testing. And 12 months ago is when some of these featured were heavily discussed on the forum.

GW2 is amazing but sadly there is just no new content and apparently no will do do more. Being stuck in the same matchups for 3 months just isn’t fun even if you are winning.

AEdge of the mist just made it worse. You barely see an oldschool guild out there. Zerg over all.

Anet doesn’t seem to care that nobody plays EotM as it was intended. People actually avoid all fights use to get the PvE loot and they are not fixing it.

Mostly PvE players go there now, due to the fact that the PvE content/rewards is good while the WvW implementation is terrible (no PPT, no rewards for defence, etc).

September Stat Changes...more dead levels?

Xillllix.3485

the open world is so easy I dont’ think those traits even matters.

for dungeon experience probably matters more than a few trait points.

I’ve been playing over a year, certain professions just plain need the traits to be less squishy. Tried to take an ele lvl 32 with lvl 30 rare gear through level 31 story Dredging up the Past. Could not get past the first 2 dredge. Tried many different tactics, high dmg then tried high survivability, endurance bar consistently empty where I couldn’t dodge any more and died anyway every time I tried it without fail. Simply put it’s just plain underpowered. Considering when GW2 first came out we were more or less promised we would be able to solo most if not all of the game if we wanted I feel really let down.

That’s because the elementalist has been nerfed to death. We could do so much before that we cant do now, like heal in mist form for example. Yes the ele can be good with ccs and water, dodging all over the place and surviving with boons.

A masterful ele will still beat a poor thief in WvW or PvP, but place a masterful thief versus a masterful ele in a competitive context and the ele is sure to lose. That’s why at the PvP tournament last year nobody played that class.

Oh boy, i wonder what people would do.

I know wear only soulbound gear, and throw all essential items into the bank! Then carry around a ton of spikes because reasons.

You really think people would run with an inventory full of spikes just to deny their enemy loot? Anyway, spikes are a loot treasure you already get normally, I was talking about inventory items.

Instead of just getting bags and random gear, why not add a very rare chance to get an item from your opponent inventory on a WvW kill in order to add an interesting anticipation aspect to the complete randomization of loot.

That chance could be affected by magic find and be around 1/1000 at 0% magic find, 1/333 at 300% mf.

Obviously legendaries and precursors could be excluded from the list, or the chance to get those items could also be a % of the overall %.

I would imagine that like me, most of the people who complain actually love the game and just want more of it.
The deception for me only come from the lack of new WvW maps, GvG maps, new skills and new end-game dungeons (that deception is surely greater for those who have player GW1, where there were much more skills, expansions and GvG).

There is also the class balance issues, but none the less this GW2 still has the best MMO combat engine.

2- EOTM added to PPT rotation, removal of server merge for that map
3- Only 1 borderland map assigned to a defending team every week, must had a new map to fill the gap and that map should be battle/capture-the-flag focused instead of PPT focussed (like a war battlefield)

All we really want is actual EndGame content.

Xillllix.3485

…some argued that Cursed Shore zone was end game, and Anet’s nerf team hit it with the nerf bat several times over to make sure the zone was a ghost town.

This points directly at the source of the problem, which originated before the lack of new content: there is a mismanagement of the content that is already there. Cursed Shore was the highest level area where you could get T6 mats and kill champions. They’ve nerfed all events and loot there so bad that I haven’t gone back in almost a year.

May we remind Anet that in the early days of GW2 Cursed Shore was looked upon as the highest level area to hang out in until the fan-anticipated release of the Ring of Fire (as downloadable content)? Now Curse Shore is a place you go to do jumping puzzles and farm ancient wood logs. Yes, the Boss events still exist (Melandru and Genth), but the area in which those events take place is a useless wasteland of kittenty loot.

I hope that Anet has something big in store they will reveal soon. With over 300 employees they gotta have something big cooking.

However, new content can still be mismanaged: Look at Edge of the Mist.
It is breathtaking content, amazing design and PvE bosses in a WvW setting. Yet they didn’t succeed at implementing it in the PPT rotation properly (or didn’t try), and it derailed completely from it’s objective and became the game-breaking karma train it is today.

Let’s hope they learned from their mistakes; there is much unexploited potential in GW2.

Does LS eliminate the need for an expansion?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Xillllix.3485

Xillllix.3485

I play through the LS once and then go back to WvW.
So short answer is no; WvW and PvP are the only endgame content that interest me at the moment.

The problem with the Living Story is that it lacks exploration. Everything is small and confined. When I play PvE in a MMO it’s to explore and discover challenging areas, not to repeat the same story instance 5 times for achievements. Also I find the whole of the PvE game is too easy. An expansion could have more difficult areas to propose.

Here are potential issues with the change to dungeon ownership

-If you are selling, 2 people can easily kick you and steal your instance, simply killing the boss themselves. Two decent players would be able to do any end boss in Arah quite fast (or even invite their friends afterwards) and honestly griefers could very well use this opportunity to do all arah paths in record time.

People shouldn’t sell dungeon paths in the first place.

ArenaNET have stated that they are OK with people selling dungeons as long as no exploits were used. It has been around since Guild Wars 1 : Prophecies.

This is also not the thread to discuss this. Please do not clutter the thread with these offtopic remarks.

Oh well so sorry to “clutter” your thread with my opinion that selling dungeon paths is lame. You mentioned anyway and I’m glad the developers didn’t take it into account.

September Fix Patch

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Xillllix.3485

Xillllix.3485

Try to be positive here:
I understand that the mega server fix, guild tags are old feature requests, but they’ve done them none the less and the game is improving. New players that didn’t play the guild missions will enjoy them more now, that is certain.

They also realized we didn’t like to be kept in the dark for a full year, there is some glimpse of hope that they might change part of their policy for the new discussion threads.

I think they know about the disappointment of the older players (those who played for 2 years) in the lack of new repayable content, there is like 10 new forum threads on that topic every day. With a company that size they must have something on the horizon, the longer it takes to develop probably indicates how the big it will be.

Personally I really want new outstanding WvW content or a GvG game mode, but I can play something else in the meanwhile. They can chose to release new stuff if they want, it’s their game, and we can choose to play this or something else.

This feature patch may seem underwhelming so far in comparison to releases like SAB or EOTM, but again on a positive note, the game is still improving.

I have yet to see any situation where you have a large cluster of commanders from various guilds on a map and that you need coordination of multiple commanders between those of your guild.

I’m talking about coordination within a guild group using multiple tags. You will see it soon enough (if your not on a blobbing server)…

That’s what I’m anticipating and consequently the purpose of this thread.

What is happening to the game? Here is what!!I 100% agrre with him.

Who knows, they’ve been demonstrating the new PvP arena again, 6 months after it not being released. WvW is stalled into the same boring matchups for months, EOTM doesn’t help either being out of the rotation. The best guilds are leaving the game. This game needs a serious injection of content, not a new trick or Golem mastery (when people already have all the points to fill it up to max and then more)

The last thing it needs is more broken class balancing, like making Tornado useless again and pretending it’s a good thing.

Basically it looks like 80% of their effort goes toward the design of Gem store skins, the remaining 19% into the living story dialogues and 1% into WvW.

Thanks, but my post was actually moderated, so it’s better not to bump it.

How would joining multiple squads be any different than joining none at all?

Well it’s quite simple, if your guild is running 3 tags for positioning, you don’t want to see 6 other tags on the map because 2 other guild groups are doing the same thing.

I think it’s pretty nice now to have multiple tag colors. We will be able to coordinate in groups movements between the melee train, the perif. and the counter-perif. It will be amazing to see the positioning of our members in the guild.

However, from what I see the squad system didn’t get any improvement, meaning that you may only join one squad.
What will happen then after the patch? All these commander tags will just become blobs markers instead of being great tactical tools.

Solution: You should be able to join multiple squads.
