What are they getting you guys? Nothing but a frustrated, increasingly isolated playerbase.

Hold back some things, sure — but absolute silence about what the future holds just fuels the rumor mill and guarantees disappointment.

In comparison, some other MMO I won’t mention always announce what they are coming up with next. As soon as a release is out.

Makes no sense to spend resources creating these events like SAB, Halloween and Dragon bash and never put them in the game again for old and new players to enjoy.

We’ve been trying to tell them that for 2 years. Temporary content is not availble to new players who have missed it and therefore they feel they are getting less.

ALSO, what do you have to say about the Commander CDI? People put time and effort in that thread and what we got? 3 more colors. Really?

They’ve done the minimum. That’s where it’s at right now, invest as little as possible while trying to maintain your player base.

I was buying gems before to encourage them making more content, but perhaps in reality the only we can make them do more than the minimum is if the cash stop flowing and they realize they have to come up with something meaningful.

Lich form doesn’t suck.

You appear to have missed my point.

Lich form does not need wells to be OP. Tornado needed meteor shower to just about scrape viability.

Nobody cared about Tornado, but a lot of people care about Lich Form even outside of how it overpowers procs.

By attacking the weakest one, they have set a massive precedent for having to nerf Lich and all other similar transforms or it will be a ludicrous case of double standards.

Then again, that’s what happened with RTL.

Cast Lich form, do 3-4k dmg every seconds or so.

Cast Tornado… 1k dmg every 3 seconds, perhaps, if you survive the first 3 seconds. Maybe it will push back someone every few seconds, so that a necromancer in Lich form actually do the job of doing damage.

That’s what Anet should do if they cannot come up with a good elementalist elite after 2 years. They should just look at Guild Wars 1, the elementalists elite were actually useful in that game.

Seriously, who will even use FGS for anything else than running faster since it does less damage than any good rotation? What the hell sort of balancing is that?

An elite like FGS, on a class as squishy as an Ele and lasting for a set number of charge should do as much damage as a berserker warrior wielding a Great sword and having twice more health.

Um, no. That is the primary concern with Lich Form. Have you seen the numbers on Chill of Death, Fire and Air? It’s stupid. You get like 14k hits in PvP. Not to mention, yes, you do use it in the same way that tornado works. Put down the damaging wells and go Lich Form and they get super powered. 3k+ hits per tick. It’s insane.

@Everyone else, I think you need to know the difference between Strong in certain modes and crazy OP. Tornado is moving from crazy OP to Strong in certain modes. Yeah, you won’t use it in PvE anymore unless you need lots of AoE launches. But it still completely decaps points in PvP (now with daze leaps) and causes cause on points during WvW fights.

You don’t balance a class over “capture objectives”. Specially not an elite skill that does 10 times less damage than all the other class elite skills.

Like the Ele needs to be more support than it already is. We spend half the freaking time casting water fields.

Who knows, they’ve been demonstrating the new PvP arena again, 6 months after it not being released. WvW is stalled into the same boring matchups for months, EOTM doesn’t help either being out of the rotation. The best guilds are leaving the game. This game needs a serious injection of content, not a new trick or Golem mastery (when people already have all the points to fill it up to max and then more)

The last thing it needs is more broken class balancing, like making Tornado useless again and pretending it’s a good thing.

Basically it looks like 80% of their effort goes toward the design of Gem store skins, the remaining 19% into the living story dialogues and 1% into WvW.

The nerfs to similar abilities that leave fire trails are probably being made out of pure laziness as it’s easier to simply change ALL fire trails than just a specific one. Burning Retreat never dealt much damage to begin with even when used against an obstacle and the same could be said for Burning Speed.
I love that Fiery Rush is being put out of comission though I was sort of hoping it would just get hit with a damage reduction to make it slightly better than a regular DPS rotation as in some scenarios utilizing Fiery Greatsword can be a risk like in high-level fractals and a few dungeon bosses. Although the nerfs to other fire trails are simply outrageous, now I’m left with boring elementalist builds to play like Staff (Spam 1, 2 and 5 off cooldown) and LH (Stack might, pick up LH, spam 1, stack might, pick up 2nd LH, spam 1…), where’s the love for D/F that actually kept me entertained with it’s fast paced playstyle? It has now been reduced to a survival build that I don’t see having much use aside from high level fractals and small group clears in dungeons.

I came to the conclusion over a year ago, when they nerfed mist form and the ele traits that they have no clue how to balance the classes. This is the hardest class to play and all we get are tons of nerfs and a few useless buffs.

Moa form: Death Sentence for the targeted
Tornado: useless in 99% of the situation

Oh, but it’s “AoE”. Like that makes a useless skill more useful.

Problem is that 1 year after the getting-stuck-in-the-kitten-landscape bug have been acknowledged in CDI thread by a developer nothing has been done.

Discuss it or dont discuss it, it doesn’t matter: It is a huge gameplay breaking bug in WvW and it should just be fixed faster.

To me it seems that the new trait system was made principally to slow down character progression, and this was probably done because there has been a delay in content development and they want to keep the players busy.

Personally I do not mind you guys at Anet not communicating with us at all, you have your stuff to do. But I would like to see serious improvements made to the competitive game modes in return, not just a trick that disable stuff and 3 tag colors.

If your not not going to release anything for the competitive game modes for 10 months, then we deserve at least to know whats going on, because of all the money we’ve invested in the gem store, if not for us simply still playing your game. It’s in your best interest anyway, because when you do not release content and at the same time break the communication we have the impression that this game is on it’s last breath.

So please, just deliver stuff worthy of the GW1 expansions.

7 months of development from the WvW team delivered a new mastery skill and a new trick.

Working for ANET would be my dream job! I wonder how they spend all day if it isn’t doing development.

No idea, but if they’ve not been working on some new WvW map or a GvG game mode I’m not going to wait another year… I’ll just go play something else.

It wasn’t a karma train when initially released. People actually played it strategically for 1-2 weeks. Then when they realized there were no real reasons to win (PPT) they went back to normal WvW. A new crowd learned how to exploit the karma events to level characters or make gold from it, by playing only the PvE aspects of it and disregarding the other enemy players who were doing the same thing.

To make it better you have to either:
1- bring it back into the PPT rotation and un-merge the servers from EOTM
2- make another server version of the map for serious PPT in the current matchup

They could also make the keeps upgradable.

Well I would rather have a wheel of 24 millions colors, but after a year expectations are kinda low so 4 colors will have to do; Even through Black and White would have been nice.

The disappointment comes only from the fact that there is nothing else for WvW: 1 trick, 3 tag colors, GG see you after the next tournament, perhaps.

Honestly, if you consulted the community before we could have avoided all the WvW community outburst. 300g for each colors was just totally wrong.

Anyway, glad it’s all cleared up.

Now, about new content: We need to make EOTM part of the WvW rotation until new maps are made. This surely cannot be that complicated to do? can it?

Anet has made some great games so far, but basically their view of what some aspect the GW2 should be isn’t the same as that of the community.

Just one example: for a game called Guild Wars the guild implementation is pretty weak: We’ve haven’t had new guild missions since the original ones, we have no Guild Halls and you can’t fight another guild unless you organize it all yourself, there is no guild ladder or tournament, no GvG game mode or arenas. Instead they tell us it has to do with some lore, but they keep talking about “Dragons” in their Living Story Lore, not “Guilds”.

I think the new market of selling virtual goods really twisted things around.

The thing keeping GW2 alive and well is the awesome fighting mechanics. They should be making new skills and arenas to bring that into light.

What I miss about SAB is that you actually have fun with a party of friends, instead of doing it single-player-mode like the Living Story.

Just received these interesting suggestions from someone that was apparently banned for some misunderstanding (may he get unbanned so we can discuss them, these are not mine):

“I had a few ideas
Fiery Greatsword: This, i would reduce the duration to 30 seconds. Remove the usage cap. Remove/reduce the mobility and increase the damage so it is on the levels of Lich Form and such.

With such changes the skills would need to be adjusted:

Flame Wave: Increase the damage, reduce the speed of the projectile. So it is something similar to. Maybe reduce it to 1 projectile at a time and increase the damage. Cast time would need to be reduced as well.

Fiery Eruption: Think this skill is in a reasonable place. Maybe reduce the cast time a little as it is currently a little too long. Maybe make it so that it makes a trail for a few seconds following its target

Fiery Whirl: This would be one of the skills that would need a total redesign. It has too much mobility currently. Could make it something like Warriors 100b that it looks you in place and you swing the flaming sword around damaging and burning foes.

Fiery Rush: Second skill that needs a total redesign. It is okay for it to have a little mobility. Its “exploit” needs to be fixed that is for sure. Could maybe make it so that it is a leap that leaves something like a Larva Font or something at the target and inflicts say 1-2 second Immbo as well

Firestorm: Radius needs to be increased a little, the damage is rather low as well

All skills would need cool down adjustments as well

Tornado:

I would remove the Meteor Storm + Tornado “exploit”. Add to it so that it increases Toughness. Being a HUGE melee target with no toughness increase was a terrible design.

Add in Projectile reflection and increase its damage to counter the loss of damage from the Meteor Storm and Tornado combo. Could maybe make it so that rather than just a blind it creates a blind field that procs blind every 1 second with a 5 second duration for 5 seconds, do the same with an electric field give them reasonable cool downs and add a 4th skill as a “auto attack”

Tornado currently is just a little underpowered, it isnt as anywhere near as broken as FGS is. I would say its our most balanced elite and that says alot seeing just how situational it is, the Elemental elite is in a terrible place as well."

SAB May Never Come Back?

Deeply disappointing by this news. I’m not asking for new SAB content if they feel this takes focus away from the LS and upcoming PVP features. Just opening World 1 and 2 for replay and tribulation-mode would be more than enough for me.

The reply itself too strikes me as a odd or ill formulated. After all, its not as if Fractals of the Mists fits with the LS or anything.

Gotta read between the lines, of course it has nothing to do with the “narrative coherence” reason they gave. That’s just a silly excuse; the entire point of SAB was that it existed outside of the narrative. How can they not get that if they made it in the first place?

Here a good example he has no ideal what he wants he only able to make up reason why there are things in wvw that he dose not like.

I know exactly what I want and have contributed all my ideas to the CDI thread that was locked tyvm.

1- 3 different borderland maps
2- PPT for EOTM to promote defensive tactics
3- Guild-Alliance based system instead of a server system
4- The ability to upgrade inner walls and gate independently before outer
5- Improvements to the EB, principally to Stonemist
6- Replace the ruins with little forts generating new types of supplies
7- AoE cap increase for Aoe classes
8- Fixing of all the misaligned textures of keeps and towers, improve the environment
9- Fixing of the getting stuck bug
10- WvW armor/weapons unlocked with ranks like the achievement armors/weapons
11- GvG game mode
12- Guild halls

(WvW/PvP) well Ele’s elites have always been extremely poor.
Let’s face it: Moa Morph is a death sentence, and that’s how an Elite skill should feel (I could list all the others, but I think you know about them already).
Ele’s ones are good on paper, but they simply don’t deliver….
My guess is that things ain’t gonna change much, don’t get your hopes too high -,-

Exactly, Moa is a death sentence; cast FGS/tornado/Elemental summoning and a thief or warrior will just laugh at you as you get stomped.

GW1 had amazing ele elites. Why can’t they bring some of those back?

We don’t know what kind of conditions GoS will have. Yes, burning is predictable on fire, but what abour air’s? If it gains enough utility, it might be worthier.

Also, they are going with the right philosophy to address FGS and tornado. Remove their unintended abuse, while making them stronger at what they were intended to be. Now let’s just hope that the buffs will be enough to justify using both skills in normal situations.

The reason everyone use cantrips is that they can be traited for healing, vigor, might and 20% recharge time, on top of being our best source of stability, protection and stun break.

Unless GoS can GoS the same, give you retaliation, regen, etc, then it will not be worth traiding it for a cantrip, in a competitive environment at least.

They already tried to buff GoS last balance patch and didn’t succeed at making it more useful; every time they buff an ele skill they seem to half-do it. Hopefully this time it will make a difference.

“The elementalist’s cantrips are popular in all parts of the game, and in the interest of promoting build diversity, we’ll be using the feature pack as an opportunity to work on other types of utility skills.”

Literally this is the same exact thing they said last time before nerfing 2 essential traits (elemental attunement and soothing disruption) and removing the stun breaker from a cantrip.

If they wan’t to promote build diversity they need to come up with new skills that basically do the exact same thing as our cantrips (stun break, invul, protection, stability, healing, vigor), because we are so squishy and have been nerfed so bad already and our hp is so low that without cantrips we’re sitting ducks.

But if they nerf the cantrips more…

“For example, the fire and air storms from the Glyph of Storms will now apply conditions of their own.”

I still won’t use it or remove a cantrip for it. Our condition damage isn’t worth it because of how slow the ele can stack conditions compared to a necro or mesmer.

“In addition, we’ll rework some of the new grandmaster traits that currently don’t have enough of a payoff or are too difficult to use. "

In my opinion: Grandmaster traits require all your investments while we are required already to spend 6 points in arcana. If you trait in water, like most of us do for survival, then you only have 2 or 4 points left for offence. The problem with the ele traits are the basics ones, not the grandmasters.

Translation: no more skill 4 on FGS (that I understand), no more Meteornado.
That is just sad for the meteornado and another huge nerf to the class.

Ugh I wish the ip was owned and controlled by an entity with money and staff. Watching you lay in an expanding puddle of blood is sad. I get if you hated SAB. But man, somebody get the hose.

Considering the staff and revenues they have there is no way that they are all still working on GW2. Considering the little content we’ve had in the last year they have to be working on some new game or expansion.

I think the “explosive finales” thing will be fireworks are now usable in WvW. Hmm.. maybe that’s asking too much.

It will probably be new finishers you get with ranks. All for looks and no new maps or real gameplay improvements.

… we won’t see SAB for a loooooooooooooooong time considering they want to ‘focus on other parts of the game first’…

It would be fine if they actually focused on other part of the game, but:
WvW is the same old stuff (no new maps in a year)
PvP is the same old stuff (no new maps in over a year)
We didn’t get any new offensive skills or classes
The world isn’t expanding much, we are not getting full areas to explore and full new dungeons

By other parts of the game they probably mean “backpiece crafting” and “gold sinks”

haha, oh gosh, it was the only PvE content I actually liked and probably the best thing they ever done for GW2 PvE along with the new dungeons bosses now in fractals. Personally really don’t give a kitten about the new LS story, episode 3 was boring as hell. I just want good WvW maps and some cool party fun like SAB for PvE.

They seemed to be totally disconnected from what their community wants. It just seems like they are making people wait, stretching the release of content they had already prepared over the longest period of time possible, because they actually stopped development for this game and are focusing on another project.

What do people want put into WvW anyways?

They already stated it takes them over a year to make a single map, so… either:

1- Their WvW dev. team is super small (like 1 person part-time)
2- They are slow as hell to make new maps because they are totally disorganized and lack deadlines and the necessary programmers
3- They are slow as hell to make new maps because they care too much and put too much time in all the little details

I believe it’s number 1 since EOTM was released, considering that all we will get since EOTM is a photoshop hue change and minor golem/trap effects.

Hopefully I am wrong.

Hopefully what they announced so far isn’t the most important WvW update of the feature patch because:

a new PvP armor = not a feature
generic PvP characters = not necessary
300g colored commander tags = what?! 300g for a feature the community proposed 2 years ago?

The problem isn’t the presentation, it’s that the game, minus lion arch, Dry Top and EOTM, has pretty much the same content as on release. Most of the Living Story was removed, SAB was removed, the healing skills that were added are not used by anyone, no offensive skills were added, no class were added, etc. Basically no expansions were released and the game is starting to look old. Obviously because of that the excitement is gone and what we get is a generic “well this is the game blablabla”.

It’s not the 300g for a new tag color that will breath new life into this game or 25% of an explorable area. They better wake up and release real content.
