I think I have to speak my mind here:
The game doesn’t need transparency, it needs new content:

PvP: No new map in over a year (but you removed one?!), no new gametypes
WvW: No new map in over a year (competitive stagnation for months), no new gametypes
Guild missions: No new missions in over a year (..?), no new upgrades
PvE: No new explorable area for the first have of the year and then 1 month of content (beside the relatively small explorable area Dry Top) followed by a long break. No new dungeons, no new classes, no new skills, no new nothing that would somehow last more than a few hours. Just the bare minimum of story to keep a bit of interest.

No guild halls, no GvG or “Guild wars” support.

This game has the best battle system for any MMO and you aren’t even capitalizing on it. No new fields? No new combo finishers? No new skills? No new weapons types?

Even the Living Story is basically single player content, it doesn’t even encourage the team-play combat features.

Just what is Anet doing for each game modes? Answering that simple question is all the transparency we need.

Every other MMO game have community post on what to expect in the future for all the game modes. They do it because they know it keeps the players interested and creates hype. You can’t just post a screenshot of a portal once or twice a year and say “Wait 2 months there might be something interesting happening in PvE, meanwhile go play WvW…”

Of course you guys worked on nice new “features”, which are generally-speaking interface tweaks, but why you would want to release these without new content to play is something I simply can’t understand. And then the new player experience… after removing a PvP map, removing SAB, removing Southsun story events, LS1 story chapters, it’s like you guys are forgetting the game has already been release and we need more content not less.

Ya I love it, but you have to admit this is possible only because people complained on the forum about server balance and servers being full (even if empty in WvW). Now the servers are open and players are balancing the game for Anet.

Team queue: 2 players of same class max

Yesterday we fought a team queue against 5 turrets engi. This is the most broken matchup ever, how can this game be even remotely considered as an esport when stuff like that is allowed? That class is seriously OP when it comes to capturing and defending points: when you got 15 turrets in the small capture circles knocking you all over the place how are you supposed to fight?

Just limit ranked matchups to 2 players of the same class maximum.

1- when it is interrupted the animation doesn’t stop. This is very confusing in a PvP setting where you are getting damaged and think you cannot move because you are channelling the skill, yet you are just standing there and dying.

2- The text “Blast” appears at the beginning of the cast yet only happen 3 seconds later. Obviously if it is interrupted the “Blast” never happened.

Hey, we´ve having same discussion over and over…solving 1 single problem in WvW wont solve WvW. So, either think about a major overhaul or dont touch it at all. Iv posted my op about it alrdy (https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/wuv/wuv/Solution-to-fix-the-population-imbalance/page/24#post4476024).

Also, WvWers are a breed of its own, we are more about battle experience than scoring or pts (doesnt mean we dont care!), so, would be awesome if you could ask the community how to improve battlefield experience instead of scoring. Surely, nobody would advise a siege disabler.

Make a factions WvWvW battlefield, single map and assign Guilds (ye, get rid of servers) to every match to keep it balanced, according to 3 different playtime day-period.
You will get always balanced matchups, and that will end up creating a Guild ladder/ reputation to every period. Every Matchup would always be fresh, new and wouldnt be a pain to last for 1 whole week.

Also, its about time we have GvG introduced. Is it rly that hard? We need gvG tournament and we need GvG Challenge Banner that a guild can lay down in a map and another can accept if they like.

This would actually bring back the sense of this game being called Guild Wars

Sry for the bitterness, but i cant avoid it anymore.

GvG is the thing that would give this game the most meaning and players. Considering that Anet developed GvG in the first place why are they so reluctant about it now?
It is as if they are avoiding making a huge commercial success.

If I was the manager of Anet I would put everything on Guild Raids (guild dungeons) and GvG, while making the rest of the team making areas for an expansion. I would also tell the players what is upcoming.

As for WvW the main problem is the server population. Reset that or provide a WvW guesting system.

Ya it’s broken, noticed this also last time I used it. Sometimes it just doesn’t work, seems to be random.

It’s a pretty funny bug considering the blast is supposed to be the skill main feature. They must be too busy buffing the ranger.

So there is finally a thread on Guild Halls, a thread on Raids and a thread on finally fixing the WvW Scoring system.

When will we get any of those things? We can talk all day long but the truth is that’s we’ve been talking about all these things for 2 years already. I mean from everything that has been said already you should be able to come up with something.

There were previous CDI feedback threads, one on EotM that had about 50 pages of suggestions. NOTHING was implemented.

I love this game but honestly: The only thing we finally got was the 3 tags colours and a siege disabler.. That’s not a lot for one year of development.

Conditions should be reapplied not CC conditions like immob shouldn’t, it’s game breaking.

Posted about it 15 months ago, they don’t care; just like the ranger doing 20k dmg in PvP from 1500 distance pressing 1 or 2 button, they wanted it broken like this I presume.

Scoring Discussion

Fixing the scoring system is a very important issue, but there are also important gameplay issues to fix.

Points for kills: good in theory but it doesn’t fix the blob issues, it encourages it.

Upgrading towers should have a bigger impact on the score and should make a bigger difference in walls/gate hp. You should also be forced to upgrade inner before outer and both should work independently.

I’m more in favor of a server merge and a reset of the WvW population according to current WvW players. Guild alliances should be the main thing, a guild should represent a certain server, and be allowed to switch server for some influence.

Blobs:
AoE limit that encourages stacking blobs; Increase the AoE limit for AoE classes depending on their armor; Heavy armor Aoe cap = 5, Medium armor 7, Light armor 10.
It will at least give some sort of advantage to a class having twice less health than another and put an end to the stacking blobs which makes fights predictable.

Immobilize stacking
Condition stacking and more precisely Daze and Immobilize stacking is totally Game-Breaking. You’re in a fight 20 vs 40 but on top of that you cant even move once your stability runs out; NOT FUN. The game was more fun before you allowed immob/daze stacking.

Class balance
Some classes do not even have an elite worth using in WvW. The new elementalist summons take 10 seconds just to do something useless. Fiery Great Sword is only good to run away. Tornado is useless. Mistfire Wolf only attack once after 5 seconds and disappears in the middle of its second attack animation before damage is done. Asura’s elites are also worthless; whats the point of the golem suit if it doesn’t do any damage?

Conditions killing you while you are invulnerable and unable to cast skills = Game-breaking

Tells you a lot about the state of the game when your best hopes for new content come from an advertisement to hire someone for Raids and a speculation thread on Guild Halls, both topics which have been avoided like the plague by the devs since the beginning.

What’s next? Lets talk about GvG and give you hope for something else that won’t ever come?

I hope I’m wrong and that they have Halls, GvG and Raids all in beta ready to be announced soon.

Right now the game is dying, most of my friends are leaving and their reason is always the same: because there is nothing new to do, they say they are focusing on the Living Story yet we barely get any of it.

Every balance patch the game has become more imbalanced.
They broke ele survivability for a year before realizing they had to buff it. Then the “buff” they did nerfed our 2 most essential traits.

I agree, the lack of transparency makes us feel like Anet has been on a sabbatical for the first part of the last year. They currently have a CDI on Guild Halls while mentioning they are just thinking about it… The question is: What have they been doing this pass year if it’s not Guild Halls and GvG? We haven’t seen a new WvW or PvP map either. We got a tiny bit of a PvE explorable region (it is beautiful, agreed) and then they are taking a break again. …While throwing us at another WvW tournaments with unbalanced matchups, because WvW server population still account for PvE servers population, and Megaservers are just really a seemless guesting system.

At this pace it would have taken 50 years to develop Guild Wars 2. It sure doesn’t feel like there is more than 25 people working on this game at the moment.

All my friends are getting bored at the lack of new PvP and WvW content. A simple announcement of what is coming would keep them here.

Elite Skill Optional

I would like to suggest we mix things up a bit and turn the Elite slot into a standard utility slot. The change would also allow only one Elite skill on the skill bar in any utility slot similar to the GW1 system.

This would quickly create some new and exciting options for builds. The change also doesn’t seem like it would take much development time (pure speculation). The game has grown a bit stale for us long time players and this could be a small modification with a big payback.

Good idea, specially considering all the elementalists elites are now useless.

You get a zillion of them for doing Map Completion. You have to leave WvW to get enough of them, of course, but that’s what everyone else had to do as well to get theirs, it’s just how the game was designed.

Yeah that just sounds…. awful. I also heard you can get a fair amount of them from PvP, so why is the red headed step child that is WvW getting neglected once again? Do the dev’s hate us or did they just completely forget there is another game mode?

He we come back again, to the “what are the WvW dev team doing?” question.
We’ve literally seen nothing new since EotM besides 3 tag colors, 1 trap and golem mastery.

I will take side with the people farming trying to make their legendary. I relate more with them than the new players that would expect everyone to stop farming to read a few lines of text.

All of this has to do with the Orr nerfs. Anet is responsible for the farms because the game gives no meaningful rewards for completing events and there is still no precursor scavenger hunt.

As for their pathetic attitude, it is only a symptom of our profit-based society, which itself is a symptom of a greater problem.

Brace yourselves for forum implosion once the tourney ends and hordes of players demand why all they received was the 4th week’s reward.

Hundreds of players at the end of the tournament will not have received any rewards at all because they were too busy playing the game instead of reading new reward rules that apply only to WvW and are a huge step down from the first 2 tournaments.

1- Make 3 new WvW maps
2- add EOTM to PPT rotation
3- merge all the servers in 3 alliances
4- add GvG

You would have 7 maps to choose from and GvG to play when the maps are full. That’s plenty to accomodate for the population of all servers.

The “intelligent and logical fashion” is to announce it on the website, in the patch notes, and in game.

The intelligent way of doing it is to do it like the rest of the game and not removing rewards.

It’s a awful way of rewards distribution. What kind of reward disappears after a week? Why can’t it be mailed? And I knew complaints like that would happen, even though I personally have retrieved all my tickets. It doesn’t affect me, but what if people are just on a trip or busy the next week?

I’m going to contact support to ask for my reward and let them know what I think about this reward system. They have not replied to this thread yet and it is quite an issue.

Lost mine also because I had to go away unexpectedly and week 3 started.
Nothing else in the game works that way. If you’re going to send mail about removing rewards people deserved the at least make the text red, underline and bold.

But even then, why not use the reward system of chests that work so well for everything else in the game?

Hey, what is this new reward system? I had to go away for a few days and now that I am back I am unable to retrieve my reward for week 1 because week 2 has started?

How lame is that? Nothing else in the game gives rewards only available temporary. I spent like 20 hours in the first WvW weeks and all of that for nothing because on top of removing the achievements you also messed up the rewards? They were bugged in the previous seasons but at least they were not taken away from you because you didn’t log in; warning or not this is just stupid.

Must I contact support just for 200 of the WvW reward item?

Technically this is true that it grows and evolve, but it does so at such a slow pace however that it would have been better to release expansions like with GW1.

It also “shrinks an devolve”: LS1 and SAB were removed from the game, WvW is more unbalanced now than ever.

GW2 is a great game, it’s amazing for a new player discovering it but for those of us that have been there for a long time we would expect more permanent content.

no offense to the server terrain thing, but my server is Gates of Madness… im not sure if i constantly want to see freakish red landscape on a fairly frequent basis

To each their own, but I think it would cool as kitten to have part of the map look like this. Infinitely better than having three borderlands maps that are exactly the same.

It would be cool to have anything new at this point. Having new content released would help with server balance simply because more players would be interested to play WvW.

Siege Disabler

Try fighting a server that outnumbers you 4 to 1 and that use that siege disabler constantly every time you try to take something to give tie for their 75-man zerg of zombies to crush your group of 10 people.

Before releasing mechanics like the siege disabler they have to balance the matchup. At the moment it is not helping servers with lower population, it’s just making the game even more frustrating.

Servers don’t matter a single bit in PvE now. There is literally no reason why the PvE population should be counted toward that status when the megaserver has combined every server’s PvE population together.

It really does irritate me that they haven’t changed this. The only reason you’d transfer servers now is for WvW, since guild stuff has been fixed to be global instead of server-specific. Why have the PvE population count for a WvW player who’s transferring? Does not compute.

This is exactly the issue I wanted to bring forward with this thread. Why is an almost empty WvW server (at certain times of the day) labelled as “full” when it is getting wrecked by another “full” server that has 5 times our WvW population? It all seems so wrong.

And 1 year ago they said their would consider a transfer queue. What has been done? Nothing. Some people have been waiting for 2 weeks now to transfer to join our guild. How long will they have to wait? 3 months? 1 year?

It is what other MMO do and that it is not done that way without reason.

That is what megaservers did for PVE. While it would be more complicated for WvW, I do believe a solution exists.

IMO, making that happen will require a drastic change to how WvW works. The only thing I see working is the battlegroup suggestion – potentially with the tweaks I noted earlier in this thread to ensure server identity and pride remain intact, while still giving everyone no queues and the ability to find engaging fights.

It isnt just about making things competitive – its about making them fun. condemning the low population servers to face off each other eternally doesnt do that – battle groups (done properly) would.

They need to re-balance all the servers population, to do a massive reshuffling.

The problem is that they cannot do it on a player basis, they have to do it on a guild basis. The only solution WvW has of rebalancing itself is a guild alliance system, where guilds are assigned to a different color (alliance) according to their rating in the guild ladder.

Then they can start creating a set amount of overflows according to the WvW population, like ESO or other mmo.

In my own opinion any server merging would be a bad idea. Server have prided themselves on being a competitive team. Merging them would only further degrade any server pride.

I think what should happen is the same thing that sets guild wars 2 apart from other mmo’s, Dynamic scaling. The system that allows level 80’s to sill enjoy lv 10 events. It need to be brought to wvw.

My idea is this.
As the difference of players becomes apparent players on lower servers get stacks of outnumbered. (invisible to enemy players of course) Each stack unlocks bonus abilities for the server.

Stacks would be determined by the average of players between the other two servers minus your player total.

20 = 1 stack
40 = 2 stacks
65 = 3 stacks
75 = 4 stacks
90 = 5 stacks

Example
World A has 100 players
World B has 90 players
World C has 70 players

(A+B)/2-C = 25

In this example World C would qualify for 1 stack of outnumbered.

For the abilities here’s my suggestion.
First a new status called “Balanced Force” would be implemented for two of these that gives the target the same damage bonus as Righteous Indignation does but without the invulnerability.

Outnumbered Stacks
1 stack would be the traditional outnumbered buff. (minus armor repair since this is now defunct)

2 stacks would place additional veteran defenders at all captured areas(minus flags). They would be called something unique like “Veteran Equalizer” These veterans would be skilled at AoE Damage and gain “Balanced Force” if there is a player nearby them.

3 stacks would place free ghostly arrow carts on all keeps and towers these carts would disappear when the outnumbered stack diminishes. (if someone is on one of them it disappears when they leave it.)

4 stacks gives all lords “Balanced Force”.

5 stacks gives all players a ghostly ally that supports them in combat(there’s only going to be about 5-10 players on the map at this point.)

These abilities are off the top of my head so there bound to be needing balancing. The idea is to give the outnumbered players powers that balance the game but do not modify their combat abilities or prove more useful than being without outnumbered.

It’s just go down the stack of 1000 good suggestions for WvW that will never been implemented. I have 0.01% hope left for WvW, the siege disabler being the latest new thing that is ruining the game.
