Unless Blizzard is preparing a new MMO there is little hope of getting a quality game from the smaller companies. Even ESO, with all it’s effort, fail to provide convincing PvP and the class balance is much worse than Guild Wars 2.

The celestial meta is the ONLY working build on the ele. With any other builds you basically have little chance thanks to all the nerfs the class has gotten in the past 2 years.

Why not fixed the broken ranger damage? Broken shatter damage spikes? Broken Engi turrets in capture points? Broken Lich form 6k auto attack? Before even thinking about nerfing once more the gear elementalists depends on.

If you nerf celestial gear you better improve elementalist traits in return so we dont have to spend 6 points in arcana and water just to survive a normal fight.

Right now my expectations for WvW in 2015 are 2 new tag colors and a new discipline perhaps, like supply trap mastery, maybe a siege-disabler disabler.

Maybe I’m wrong, and they have been working on 2 new WvW maps for the last year and a overhaul of the old maps. As it was written in an article, they have been “working on stuff”, although we already know its not new dungeons or SAB.

So I would not expect an expansion worth of content considering they have not started work on new dungeons. Due to complaints they are supposed to be working again on SAB world 3, but is that really happening? how long will it take for us to be able to use our continue coin again if it was canned for 1 full year?

On top of that the mac version is buggier than ever before, the new player experience is quite frankly a disaster, the TP is just inflating due to market manipulation, precursor crafting is over a year late, class balance is questionable, EotM has become a boring Karma train, all tiers below tier 2 in WvW are basically dead and the living story is a run through 30 minutes experience you never come back to. So yeah please make 2015 a better yeah than 2014 for GW2.

The game needs new meaningful content, but that content doesn’t need to take the form of an expansion. If they released 2 new WvW maps and 5 new PvP maps this year as part of a living world updates for example the game competitive mode would survive. If they don’t do new WvW maps only Tier 1 will survive and in 6 months even that tier will be bored to death of fighting the same servers

Same with dungeons, the living story should be story modes for new dungeons, right now it is given way too much importance over real content; having to listen to hundreds of chat bubbles about a story does not equal new dungeons and WvW map in terms of playability.

Anyway if they listened to the players in the first place they would have over twice the current amount of players online.

Considering that some people are already at max lvl and thus having 8605 free points to spend, yes, we definitely need more abilites.

I’ll write some ideas down when I get back from work.

Tells you a lot when the players are progressing faster than the developers creates content. When Golem mastery came out I just got all of it from my hundreds of extra points. If it would have been done properly nobody would have been able to insta-buy a new feature that is supposed to be linked to character progression.

Honestly, I was levelling a character in the vacation and the NPE feels terrible:

At level 54 I still have no master trait and since I only play EOTM/WvW/PvP I do not have enough skillpoints to unlock all the skills and traits I want (Skills points should never have become “Trait points”). When my character level up in EOTM I do less damage and lose health. The entire leveling process feel broken and akward: like being told at late level 30s what rare gear is; seriously?

And if the goal was to make things easier then it was a failure, because having to unlock everything, including traits for a class you’ve never played before testing them, is doing the exact opposite.

It’s probably been said a thousand times already but anyway I wished to add my voice to the list of people disappointing by the NPE.

I hope in 2015 you get back on track, specially with new competitive content and PvE content for existing players.

Hi there,
the old crashing bugs seem to be back since the 2-3 last updates:

These seems to be graphic related “Lockbit error-something” and occur in large Stonemist battles mostly. It makes the game barely playable because you crash as soon as there is a large fight and then have to wait in queue another 30 minutes to get back to fighting with your guild.

I remember almost quitting the game initially when discovering this bug, but it was finally fixed. Now that it is back I’m really wondering how long will we have to wait before it is fixed again.

Do you have people working on this?

The mac version just seems to be crashing more and more.

After waiting 30 minutes for my EBG queue to end I played 10 minutes and crashed, yay.

Personally I always thought that the delay on the swords and people tagging the gate was ridiculous. Perhaps if whites swords would show up when a gate is at 50% it would be the best compromise?

Staff ele has a series of problems starting with the fact that to do damage on par with a necro (5.5k lifeblasts) you have to be a “1 hit to kill” target.

Then the casting time for most skills is too slow, the auto attacks are so useless and most of the best staff eles do not use them unless its for pressure.

increasing the casting time on skills like eruption and removing the lava font delay would certainly make the class more viable.

Got the lockedRect.pbits error 5 times last night.
Honestly this is worse than when the game was first release, the game was running smooth all last year and now it’s back to barely playable in WvW.

Since the last living stories the Mac version of the game has been crashing every hour for me in WvW. I thought those crashes were fixed about 1 year ago so clearly an old bug is back.

How can log-in in 28 times even compared to doing the monthly quests we had to do?

Sure you get your laurels, but the monthly could be done in 3-4 days of ACTUAL PLAYING, not 28 days of just LOG-IN – Log out. The new method (1) doesn’t reward actually playing the game, (2) punishes you if you go away for a vacation or cannot log-in every day. Just why Anet thought it was a good idea is beyond my understanding.

The new dailies and specially the new monthlies feel as bad as the new player experience. A chest just for taking a sentry? Is that really necessary? It really feels like Anet has no clue what WvW players want.

I mean come on, log-in everyday and don’t even play and you still get your monthly? What about those who were proud to do it and actually enjoyed “playing” for it ?

Really disappointing, after 2 years the game should be getting harder not easier.

The problem in making this at test is that after 2 weeks when they remove point per kills we will have to go back to the old mode. It’s going to be a major disappointment to step back to the current system.

Each separate corner of EB is themed differently. Same goes for EotM. So why are the borderlands simple, exact, boring clones?

Probably because they didn’t have the time to make 3 maps before the release deadline came about. EotM was only finished a year later and they are still missing 1 map to make a full map rotation. It’s just sad to see so little investment go into WvW because it has so much potential, it could really redefine the MMO genre if it had some support.

Returned after a year and .... mostly bleh :/

The new way to level characters is to do PvP until you have 80 tomes of knowledge and 300 scrolls.

As for crafting ascended, yes it was only explained in a Blog post, there is basically no information in the game about how it works, you have to find websites that explain the cheapest way to do it. It is a grind, its about 600g to make an ascended armor.

It seems Anet intentionally slowed down character progression, I presume because they wont have new dungeon, PvP maps or WvW maps ready to release for a while. Because they have a strict policy of keeping everything secret until 1 week before the release there is no way to know for sure.

EotM turned into a farmfest because EotM has no goal (no point in winning a match). It was best during the first week of the release, when people didn’t know it wasn’t in the PPT rotation.

Try living story season 2, it has nice stuff and is playable even if you missed it.

Problem isn’t really the content but the implementation.

Look at EotM, would be a great WvW map, but it turned into a karma train for upscale players where most people avoid fights due to poor implementation. It’s not even part of the PPT rotation and the supplies it gives to the borderland is negligible because it has no impact on the gameplay whatsoever.

Same with the ruins in the Borderlands map. Super fine graphic work but where is the gameplay? Stand in the circles for 10 minutes for a buff nobody needs or want.

Living story is the same, it should be story modes for new dungeons, not single player experiences meant to play once through and get it done with.

Then there is content like SAB. It should never have been removed.

More badges… I don’t know what to say besides that nobody really needs them. In EotM you get like 250 per hour.

Unless Anet WvW reward tracks you could unlock with badges, or something similar to badges unique armors, there is no need for more badges.

When will we see any sort of meaningful improvement to the WvW gamemode?

It seems like it’s taking forever for the Anet development team just to implement the suggestions from the last CDI on how to improve the Stonemist battle and harmonize rewards between WvW and EotM.

Does Anet have a team making new content for WvW?

Sounds like people are convinced nothing will happen. There are only two options to significantly change how fights/zerging works right now:

1) PPT alteration possibilities (use your imagination)

2) “Requirements” for logging into WvW (would require removing PvE elements)

Neither of them are likely – but they would certainly change things.

All I want to know (and I’m not the only one) is if they are working on something like a new map (they already stated that they had no plans to improve the current maps in an interview, so there is little hope there unless they changed their mind). For over a year people have been asking for information on new content for WvW and every time our requests were answered by a complete silence. They get upset when someone post on the forum that there are no WvW developers, but where is the content if there really is a WvW dev team? All of us who invested heavily in gems deserve to know… at the very least “something”.

I don’t think it’s failing at all. The living story does what it should be doing pretty well, specially since it brought Dry Top and Silverwaste.

It’s the other game modes not getting any attention that are failing to keep players interested. WvW is in a sort of hibernation mode and guilds are still waiting for Raids/ranked GvG/more Missions.

This is really not worth complaining about. Dailies change, so what? It’s just dailies. The new system looks all right.

Meanwhile after the CDI there is still no guild halls or raids announcement, no GvG CDI, no new WvW or PvP maps, no new skills or weapon types, no SAB… These are things worth complaining about, not the new dailies.

Gw2 and mechanicall inconsistencies go hand in hand especially with stressed servers and client sided postion forwarding.

Will we ever get a game where skill behavior is not russian roulette (yes exaggerating but this is a rant topic if it bugs out 1 out of 10 times it’s still to much).

The sheer amount of times that; leaps, ports, channels, cc missbehave is rather ridiculious and absurd to say the least.

So let’s list some of these amazing features that go hand in hand with the current system, and feel free to add more of these anomlies to the list that i currently miss out on.

-The lovely dodge in place after a port feature.
-The lovely midair immobilise lockdown that is here since beta.
-The beautifull porting/leaping distance cuts/cancels (not by cc but by server)
-The awesome targetting bugging out, heck at times even losing the target fire connection while still having the target up but having to retarget to actually connect again.
-Beautifull skills bypassing their 15% handicap range such as having 2k range rapid fires and 2k range engi pulls (although only pulling 1200 range back of the 2k) cause once again by the beautifull system of client sided position forwarding on stressed servers.
-The amazing input delays and at times even input ignores.
-Skills like lightning reflexes and withdraw dodging forward after a quick turn cause the server still thinks you face the other way.
-Getting hit by skills you dodged but still take the cc effect from but not the actual damage, mes sword port immobilise and hammer f1 war come to mind.
-Ofcourse our random obstruct bug and out of sync ghosting can’t be left out either. (out of syncing happening a great deal on vapor form ele’s and swiftness dolyaks)
-And the great i pushed you off a cliff only to see the server place you on the edge again as bonus feature mention.

And while i’m sure this list is much longer these currently spring to mind, and then we haven’t even mentioned the actual bugs that are bugged by coding and not by client sided behavior affecting the skill mechanics.

Neither will i list any of those related to gameplay but i will list a few known regarding to siege.

-Breakout siege is still a mystery when it comes to which wvwvw skills effect it and which don’t, when for instance looking at the ram the cd reduction applies but the rest doesn’t work.
-Then when we focus on the ram a bit more using our third skill to push people of repairing for instance, has a pretty big chance to go numb when put in que after a normal ram attack, thus leaving the ram useless for 3 turns till it works again.
-The mortar skill 5 can be used by holding down the turning and aiming where you want it to land without having to actually turn it in place (which is a good thing for usablity, but a bug nevertheless in this format and should perhaps just work like this instead)
-Balista speed on bolt adding a lower angle making the extra distance you gain later on useless in some situations, why do we have to sacrifice angle for speed? and if we do why is this not mentioned in the upgrade.
-Radius animation of canons often doesn’t reflect their proper effect radius, this is specially noticed on bumpy terrain, and to be fair not only related to canons but also to plenty other skills (line of warding comes to mind, takes effect half-1step from actual animation)
-Wouldn’t really call this a bug but i’ll mention it as bonus aswell, treb shots are supposed to be unblockable but obviously cata bubbles can absord it wether intended or not it should be reworded proper to reflect which of these is true.

Anyway guess i’m done ranting for now, wether people read it or not likely won’t matter as none of the issue’s related to server sided position forwarding on stressed servers will ever be adressed, since gw2 model focusses on numbers rather then stability which is obvious from an income point of view but sad for those who would like gw2 to grow in terms of potentional and for that it first has to be polished.

You can add to the list that the Keep and Stonemist textures are not aligned properly.
But all of this should go in the bug report, as someone else suggested.

I see no evidence that PPT is broken. It works precisely as it is supposed to as far as I am aware. I am not entirely certain broken means what you think it means. You are completely dishonest to claim you can know the outcome in advance, you can suspect it, but to claim you know it is fear mongering in order to push your own agendy in my opinion.

I see nothing to support your claim about warriors, other professions can do that as we.. Not to mention, under the current conditions, warriors are already a highly desired profession for hammer trains and banners, I don’t see much changing when you take “bloodlust” into account.

Just those 2 points alone:
Are you intentionally omitting the fact that at the last tournament everyone knew the outcome of every single matchup and could predict the end result of the tournament for every tier? Because that is what happened, with an error margin that was negligible.
If that isn’t a sign for you that PPT is broken I don’t know what can be.

As for warriors, anyone will understand that being able to insta-res someone in a context where kills are added to the score is a serious advantage for PPT over other classes who cannot do the same. It’s just logical.

Ok, at first I was against this, but now I think it will be a nice change, (I play on gunnars hold). Anyhow, I personally think this will be a cool change, it will allow us to compete with the bigger servers we face because, as soon as white swords appear you get blob raining down on your 5 man havoc squad, and as a result you got 0 chance of ninjaing t3 towers/other things.

The bigger server will have more scouts, therefore they will totally karma train you while your 5 man havoc squad will try to take 1 tower, and they will probably still get to you in time.

We pretty much know what will happen:

White Sword Removal:
1- Inexperienced players will no longer know where to go.
2- The WvW experience will rely even more on voice chat, something that isn’t even implemented in GW2.
3- Everything will turn into a huge Karma Train like EotM, unless you have a scout in every tower and keeps there will be no way to know where the enemy is. This will literally kill low tier servers where the population is too thin to spread out.

PPK:
1- While good in theory it is a flawed way to fix the broken PPT problem where the outcome of a match can always be known in advance because:
- PPK will make people blob up just even more. The biggest blob will almost always win and be able to res their downs.
- It will give the Warrior class an unfair advantage, because they can always res their allies. Perpare yourself for huge blobs with 50% warriors.
In short to go with the PPK you need to fix the class balance first: Increase AoE limit for light armor classes to discourage blobbing. Or increase AoE Skill damage.

Anyway, it will change the PPT meta certainly but it will not make WvW more interesting, to the contrary.
If your objective is to make WvW more interesting you should make content like improved Stonemist battles, faster and stronger supply doyaks, Keeps with more types of defenses, where outer can be upgraded seperatly from inner, buildable barricades, new maps in rotation (removal of duplcated maps), harmonization of rewards between EotM and normal maps… not do little changes that may make the game worse.

How I see it is, basically: they came here to say that the almost nothing we got for WvW in the last year is actually a lot and that we should be really impressed about the 3 days their lonely WvW dev worked on WvW content this year, and that was all due to them listening to the CDI.

Then when we replied “wtf?” they left the discussion.

I mean I love the game but where is the new content?

Well now that this thread is on page 4 and going to the abyss of forgotten threads let’s hope that Anet got the message and that we will see the Guild Halls, GvG, WvW maps, Dungeons, SAB, precursor crafting, new traits, skills, classes, weapons, everyone has been asking for soon enough.

Everything they’ve said so far hints at the idea that there wont be an expansion of any kind:
The living Story is the focus
They aren’t working on new dungeons
They haven’t worked on SAB since the second levels were added, and only said they will work on it in the future because everyone was disappointed.
WvW maps are so long and complicated to make apparently that we can only expect little changes like the siege disabler
They started to think about Guild Halls and Raid
They are not scared to talk about GvG but wont still won’t discuss it yet

So according to what they say we could expect the Living Story to keep going, no new dungeons, no new WvW map, no GvG, and something like SAB world 3 in 1 year, Guild raids and halls in 1 years or 2 perhaps, and possibly 2 new PvP maps along the road, precursor crafting (because it will make people buy gems) and tons of Gem store items.

I really don’t see why would expect an expansion after Anet said they won’t make new dungeons (or “aren’t planning” on making as they put it).

My bet is they are working on GW3.

Guild Wars 1’s PvP had amazing design. GW2 is good but it has way too many balance problems. It’s far from being as good as GW1 PvP.

Have the Skritt and Centaur camps in the Borderlands always been the way they are now? I was thinking they could easily be changed into Mercenary camps similar to the Ogres/Dredge/Hylek in EBG, which could provide additional guards for the northern camps as well as wandering patrols between N camp and the northern Towers.

I would be really surprised to see Anet do any kind of improvement to these old map. Specially since they said they would rather do new maps.

These old maps have huge potential but it is wasted. What about the ORBS? Thats like half the gameplay that was bluntly removed and never replaced with anything else.
The Ruins, reduced to standing in circles for a buff nobody needs; another waste of potential.
