This looks really suspicious considering what an unmitigated disaster EotM is.

The best part about the current WvW maps is how simple they are, so we can concentrate on fighting each other. I get the feeling they’re trying to force us in to a playstyle WvWers have repeatedly said we don’t want.

EOTM isnt a disaster because of the way it’s been designed, it’s a disaster because it works on a megaserver system and if doesn’t count for PPT

I’m looking forward to a new map with more choke points, it is something people asked for actually. I think it will work.

The lack of updates and improvements burned out tons of players including me (I would rather pvp than roam unless my guild is raiding or GvGing). I think it will keep losing players until the expansion is out, unless they improve the current maps and PPT system now.

The meta is the safest build possible made for holding points for ppt.

Yes with sustained pressure and 20-25 stacks of might you’ll eventually burn people out in 1v1 by doing a good rotation when their heals are on cooldowns, but don’t expect to burst anyone with that build.

A good ele can survive without cleansing water and/or evasive arcana, just like a good thief knows when to disengage. That’s 4 points to redistribute,

If you are imaginative with sigil you can discover some insane good burst builds with d/d ele. But to run these build with success all your skills have to land properly and be used at the most proper moment. It’s not like a ranger where you can face-roll at 1500 distance and do 10k damage.

ESO found the solution for the match-ups:
3 Teams instead of servers (could be guild alliances in guild wars 2)
And the option to guest on other campaigns when your server is full or when you want to balance a match.

The penalty is that when you are guesting you do not receive xp.
I think it’s a great system that could easily be applied to Guild Wars 2.
It would really facilitate GvGs between guilds as well, as GvG guilds could go fight on low-population servers.

The problem isn’t map completion in WvW, it’s that WvW is nothing like it used to be. Nobody care about PPT anymore when the matchup are that unbalanced, and there is no rewards for winning.

When the game was released the objectives would flip much more frequently. And there was the super amazing orb to run around with.

I’m a logic person. After buying 3 precursors, I have done the math, using statistics and the experience of other people to persuade myself to use the mystic forge instead of buying the precursors. Basically, the odds of getting a pre is .2 % from rares. Using a cumulative binomial calculator, the odds of getting 1 or more pre from 350 attempts is 50%….
Well, after 1100 attempts, I’ve convinced myself to quit. I know.. 100 trolls will say good ridden. Whatever. I’ll never buy an Anet game or all other affiliates. You have wasted my time enough already…

You did your math wrong. You do not have 50% chance of getting one after 350 tries, you have 0.2% 350 times. Your chance doesn’t go up because you do it more often.

This is the result of never having had a GvG CDI.

We can wish for a lot of things but all you’ll get is 1 new 5v5 PvP map because Anet decided so.

Maybe the are keeping GvG for the second expansion.

There were one great crystal-like dungeon, that’s the best thing Anet came up with in a while. Sadly it was single player and meant to play through only once.

It should have been made into a new dungeon, and the living story should have been the story mode.

You can still explore, and the vistas/et al are still there, but the icons don’t appear on the map for <L10 characters. Not everyone who plays is an MMO veteran, and can find a multitude of different icons in the first 30s of play kind of overwhelming.

Isn’t having the Vistas in the world but not in the map until a certain level more confusing that simply having the world and map corresponding like they used to?

I agree too with Moo, but I don’t think Anet would dare question the current WvW mechanics, even if a vast majority of players are complaining about the predictable matchups and the hundreds of flaws, starting with the simple lack of improvements.

Guild alliances is where it should always have been at, with open servers (with a ESO-style guesting system) being hosts to the Guild Alliances warfare.

It feels like Anet won’t be improving WvW anyway until the expansion is released.

EOTM would be fine if it was in the map rotation and counted for PPT. The entire reason why it has been reduced to a karma train is because there is simply no reason to win.

Is there really such a thing? Why would you lock everything down? The fun of a MMO at first is exploring. Even the day I bought the game I had no problems at all navigating the world map even with the “icon overload”.

The problem is with the megaservers. You cannot select to queue for a good overflow when your overflow is empty. Really a nuisance to group-objective maps.

Personally I don’t care if it’s in the queue or not. What I care about is having more than one map to play Stronghold on, because that map will get old quickly if it’s all we’re playing.

The problem really isn’t the engi, but the long recharge on stability skills, reflects and stun-breakers that makes it barely impossible to fight back a certain amount of ccs.

Devon already admitted these achievements are unrealistic and theyre looking in to it and maybe come with a fix. Been said 8-9 months ago.

I bumped a thread when we passed the yearly mark, and that was like 6-8 months ago at least. I think they’ve acknowledge this 2 years ago.

This is Anet balance for you, Deathly Claws doing 6-7k damage on auto attack every second in comparison the Glymph of Elemental elite skill doing maximum 2k every 15 seconds if it can ever hit the right target.

I agree every class needs a cool thing, I don’t think it should be nerfed, but instead they should improve all the useless skills and create more counters, specially reduce the cooldown on reflects and stun-break/stability skills.

They have no choice but to mix it up with the other maps since it’s only 1 new map and you need 3 maps for the map voting system to function.

It’s only 1 new map, so depending how much you are willing to spend on a single map.
As a comparison A CoD map pack containing 4 maps usually between 5 and 7$.

Not sure I would pay 30$ for a single map if the PvE content didn’t interest me.

Also the “Kryta look” make it seem like unused content has been recycled. Can’t believe that after 3 years they didn’t came up with a better setting for a new map, like perhaps something inspired of Silverwaste of Dry Top?

I’m pretty disappointed by it, not that it doesn’t look fun, but that it is really small scale and won’t replace GvG. Also at the rish of sounding arsh the design is really uninspiring which would be fine if there were more than 1 map; it’s not a giant battle on top of a volcano here, it looks like old Kryta content that was lying around and picked up to package in an expansion.

If they’re were 5-6 maps we could discuss Stronghold being a new mode for GW2, but with only 1 map it’s more like a demo of something. The only other things which will interest me in what the expansion contains are the new ele specialization and a single WvW map. It’s not a lot of content to justify a purchase unless the expansion is around 10$.

The turret build is really problematic when there is more than 1 engi in the enemy team.

The build itself is quite irritating when some almost impossible to kill bunker engi with infinite knockdowns is camping on a point.

Until that is resolved the best solution is a 2v1 or 3v1.

They could just buff useless skills (like the elementalist elites) instead of nerfing a class, even if that currently has a clear advantage in PvP when it comes to holding points.

Less player aggravation that way.

Considering most ele elites have been broken or useless for months we can only presume that it is what they intended. Perhaps it’s a way to nerf the class more and make it seem like a bug or omission.

Glymph somewhat works in pvp, beside that the sword is only good to run away or taking screenshots. Tornado is now useless except in pvp bunkering since it lost its power boost; it’s just a mess all over the board when it comes to elementalist elites. No elementalist elite is as good as guardian’s invul, mesmer’s moa, engi’s supply crate, ranger’s root, necro’s lich, etc.

It’s the animations and casting time that are too slow, not the actual skill recharge.
Chain lightning should animate faster, it’s way to clunky.
Surge could have 25% faster cast time and keep the same recharge
Gust rarely works, why not make it aoe targettable?
Lava Font does damage over 1-2 sec after you press the key
Fireball moves too slow for the damage it makes, or the radius is too small
Water auto-attack: lol must be a joke, skill there not working
Ice spike, 25% animation speed buff required, same cooldown
Earth-2 should follow with same buff, so that the combo isnt broken with ice spike.

That’s pretty much it, you cannot play the elementalist like the other classes. Your rotation is wrong there, it is far from optimal and if doesn’t fit your build.

You are running a meta that relies on might stacking but are not stacking any might.

After fire you need to go to water 3, then earth 4,3,5 or dodge in your cooldown if those are on cooldown. You should get to 15-18 stacks with runes of strength.

As a comparison I run a custom build that doesn’t rely on might stacking and I have 10 stack of might permanent (3 blast + attunement to fire). 10 stacks of might for the ele is really the minimum.

Stop clicking your skill, practice might stacking rotations and bursts, and you would have won that match easily.

Mac version crash all the time, specially in WvW. It used to work fine for almost a year, now it’s back to “unstable”.

The game’s combat is fine, but skills and classes need a better balance (specially useless skills and traits) and the targeting system needs improvement (like an option to ignore enemy pets, mesmer clones and ambient creatures when you aim for nearest target)

It’s broken and for some reason Anet doesn’t want to fix it.

I was trying to get some people into PvP and then the game just placed us face to face with 3 to 5 turret engi every matches.

They need to increase the cooldown on knockdowns and immob. or add a penality to turrets from working in circles (50% increased cooldowns?), just like stealth or mistform doesn’t work in circles.

The problem isn’t 1 turrent engi specifically, it’s having 2 engis or more at the same location. Maybe just having a limit on the amount of turrets in a certain area would do it.
