I think after the “Reaper” reveal that the ele will be stuck in water and arcana even more than before once hoT is out.
Chill everywhere, hopefully the balance “team” will take into consideration that chill affects some classes more than others. Because elementalist attunement recharge is affected by chill even if it shouldn’t be.
azel, air isn’t really being nerfed because, unless you save your burst until the very end bolt to the heart is only 20/3=6.6% damage increase. ( The 5% less damage in air is much more noticeable except when firegrabbing foes)
Losing Bolt to the heart and Air training is a nerf to me. It’s not like ele has some great sustained damage.
We may end up being just another annoying bunker class to fight after all these nerfs.
ANet is not a small team but a micro team if you think about it. You want a good expansion AND continuous content. That can’t happen with the numbers they have.
That being said..after all the reveals for HoT, the hype for the expansion died for me.
300 employes is more than a micro/small team.
I would bet you that at least half their employe have been working on their next game since GW2 was released. Probably the moment they got the Unreal engine license.

Hi all, this is a known issue for us and something we are working on but I don’t have any exciting news for this yet.
Been over 7 months since your post: any news yet? I tried wvw yesterday and was able to play about 20something minutes before my game crashed. I think it has almost been a year and half since this started happening now.
I think they completely stopped Mac support since the forums were merged. Or they stopped responding. Not a good sign.
Honestly on my mac the game is still way lower than before (about 15 fps slower).
This is unacceptable considering I used to run the game on a 2008 computer at a faster framerate than my new 2014 machine with kitten, 2gb of vram, 16gb of ram and i7 quad.
Somewhere down the line the mac version got most of the old crashes back and a performance decrease.
While this nerf may seem small on the current d/d bunker meta, small nerfs become huge nerfs for people running more daring builds.
It will not be the first time Anet destroys my build, they’ve done it twice already, but I urge Anet to not nerf something that is so core to the class when other classes can just Moa you and shatter on you in a few seconds.
lol There hasn’t been any updates since January.
They’ll have everyone re-gearing for the new trait system to stretch time over the next months until HoT.

I never die out right facing 2 opponents If I fight a large mid I can hold it and fight 1v4 for 30 seconds up to a minute. My 1v1 on point is 100% win. I can burst a double condi engineer and beet him ion 30 seconds or less if he has kit dropped on me give me 50-60 seconds. I can make him run off point but if he wants to die so be it. I was former top 200 on North America berfore the ladder changes in TSPVP and top 70 in solo rank entry. I’m mediocre but I have 3k hours on my elementalist which total around 55% of my time on guild wars 2 through wvw and spvp.
Did I ever told you a story before the battle of sigil, might nerf and Drakes breath nerf I can easily 1v4 in wvw against silvers.

The thing is that every time they nerf bunker builds they completly destroy more squishier builds or more original builds. Seems like they only balance according to Metabattle.
I crafted:
1- Bifrost
2- Incinerator
3- Meteorlogicus
Even through I crafted bifrost first it is still my favorite legendary. Incinerator is nice but it needs a special aura or some new effect.
Meteorlogicus is my latest one, barely played with it. I really like the look of it.
Am I the only one who doesn’t like the concept of conjured weapons?
I have no problems with the concept of conjured weapons, but the fact that these skills cripple you instead helping you makes them quite useless. Conjured weapons need to function with our attunement mechanic, and they need to have some advantage over our normal rotation.
Full sentinel gear with Fire-Air-Tempest as trait lines… Called it first!

Seems totally overpowered and unbalanced compared to the current status of the present classes.
3 seconds of slow on interrupt: As if Daze and knockdowns weren’t enough to prevent someone from doing anything, now they are slow on top of it and can be shaterred twice..?
I guess we’ll have to see how overpowered are the new trait lines for the other classes before judging.
Anet will even nerf conjures, even if those as well as our elites are worthless…

2- Eles reroll as Revenant
I think these things should be regulated. Like I said, in ESO it is free to change servers, why does it cost 10$ in GW2? I’ve already wasted over 50$ in transfer fees just because the servers were dying due to lousy matchups repeating months after months.
Do you realize the fact that dd won’t be viable anymore doesn’t mean there will be some new spec viable? What happened the last time they overnerfed ele? That’s right, no one played it for a year.
It’s like there is a double standard.: every class has OP stuff except the ele: Ranger pewpew, Ranger MoA, Thieves backstab, etc Then you get to the Ele and suddendly Anet is super worried that somewhere we can do some damage slightly high, even after ALL the MANY nerfs. Ele staff damage is ridiculously low on # 1 skills for example, they could buff them by 50% and nobody would even notice beside for the Fire attunement.
When ESPN is talking about having a ESport channel, game companies better wake up. This is an incredible opportunity to define a new genre of competitive play and at the same time generate millions in profits.
Guild Wars (1), with GvG was already ahead in that field. Why isn’t Guild Wars 2 making the best of that and proposing balanced PvP on a scale never seen before?
I would bet some game company somewhere is preparing a breakthrough in the Esport genre.
10v10, 12v12, 15v15, 20v20, 25v25… It really doesn’t matter. You have to go back to the drawing board and make the best PvP every seen in a MMO if you want be in the Spotlight of the new ESport phenomenon. I doubt a single 5v5 Stronghold map will cut it for television, but the good news is that you guys at Anet already have the best fighting system in a MMO.
Look at what they’ve done to turrets. It’s way easier to make sure nobody ever use them again than do proper balancing. Seems that they have the same philosophy with the ele conjures.
A balance philosophy based on possible outcomes, both the elementalist and necromancer class have been victims of this practice since launch…no even before launch.
The end result of this process is that both these professions lost their identity, their only fault: their potential.One profession has access to 20 skills , the other has “two” health bars in practice.
I bet in the beginning this must have looked such a great idea among the devs, then..it started : “the what if”… .balance approach.An exorbitant list of weaknesses was added to both professions, to counter the benefits of the two mechanics; with this addition the devs thought the problem was solved..but instead they created an even bigger problem.
Ele and Necro, either too weak..or too powerful, they’ve never been able to reach a happy medium…because there is no medium level, the design basis is extremely bad so you either add so many weaknesses to completely offset the benefits or you give these two classes , a level of buffs comparable to other professions…something that you can’t do.
Ele and Necro will always lag behind other profession and this because the devs refuse to take some necessary and drastic measures : class overhaul.
100% spot on, balance on these 2 classes has been quite questionable.
Well with the new weapons and traits it’s their chance to fix it.
Ugh the class mechanic is still very bound. I mean your F skills will basicly be just some more skills instead of like ele being very important to the whole class. That part just doesnt catch me
The Guardians F-Skill actually do way more than the ele, which just flips through skill sets with long cooldowns.

Well OS is queued for all three servers in T2 tonight. 9 guilds are having a fight night; that’s 180 people.
Even CD/DH/HoD had about 80 people in OS with alternating GvGs last night.
They said they would be listening to the player feedback but I don’t see any sign of it.
Quite simple: 95% of Eles don’t want that build-breaking nerf.
Can Anet just answer and say they will find another solution?
1- Ranger Pewpewing from an unreachable place and insane damage
2- Lich Form and LifeBlast insane damage
3- Engineers constant ccs
4- Invulnerability skills on heavy classes
5- Chill affecting attunement cooldowns on ele
6- Immobilize stacking, Roots still immobilizing when destroyed
7- Any stacking of conditions that makes it impossible to fight back (daze+fear, etc)
8- Lack of map variety
Don’t forget ice bow five and 2 and fgs 4
Or you can just drop it and use a skill that does more damage, like water auto-attack on staff.
What Anet doesn’t understand, is that you shouldn’t put 2 traits that serve the same function in the same trait tier.
Evasive arcana: gives regen blinds, blast in earth, burns
Elemental Attunement: gives regen, swiftness, might and protection
Elemental Attunement is obviously better because of the protection, but they both serve the same defensive function and now you are forced to choose one or the other. Basically you might as well take Evasive Arcana out of the game completely… Great balancing there… not!
And same thing in air, do you want extra dps from Lightning rod, fresh air or Bolt to the heart… Well I don’t know, let me take out my calculator and see the numbers. At the end of the day you might as well discard Bolt to the heart.
Literally what is happening here is the destruction of build variety. Just like when they nerfed Mist-Form-healing/utilities/elite they removed a lot of cool combos that defined the way the elementalist used to work.
Overall I understand why they wish to redesign the classes, but it’s like Anet forgot the reason why these traits were not in the same tier in the first place. It’s like a new person doing the balancing has no clue what the first designer did.

5- Mesmers
6- Necros
7- Engies
8- Eles
Anet can’t be ignorant to all of this after all this time and having such clear feedback from players. At this point it seems like they have chosen to stubbornly ignore.
It’s just wasted potential at this point, both from a gameplay and financial perspective.
Other companies have longer-terms vision, like Epic giving the Unreal Engine to modders, or Bethesda (amongst many others), for a constant influx of new community-driven content.
Anet restrained their vision to having chaotic open field (WvW) and small scale pvp, with not place in the middle for larger group balanced and competitive content.
It’s the same with PvE: Huge blob events and single player Living Story, but no Guild Raids or Guild Dungeons.
The sad thing is that no other game on the market has a compelling GvG style competitive experience. There is no alternative other than waiting for a MMO company to wake up to the new MMO player’s expectations.

The state of pvp is absolutely appauling and im quite shocked that an expansion is even in development considering how bad things are.

They aren’t doing an expansion for PvP, they are doing a PvE expansion.
There is only 1 new PvP map and it’s gonna be free (not part of expansion).
And PvP is in the current state because they didn’t listen to the community which has been asking for GW1 style GvG. Stronghold is the closest thing we will get, but it’s still only 5v5.
All elementalist are angry about the Evasive Arcana / Elemental Attunement nerf.
Obviously: Our class is so weak it relies on boons an the water line to stay alive.
Now you will lose your water dodge (+cleanse) and your blast for might unless you want to remove the only trait that keeps the ele alive (Elemental attunement Protection).
It’s another survival nerf to a class that didn’t need any.
Make Evasive Arcana a Master Trait, problem solved.
A class that relies on boons just to stay alive using conjure weapons that do not even integrate with the class mechanics and doesn’t give any protection boons…
Tell me how that’s going to work.
Unless they buff the damage by like 200%-300% the risk will never be worth it.
RIght now conjure weapons for ele are:
Ice bow: press 4 and discard in PvE or zerg farming
Fiery Greatsword: press 3 to run back to your group or run away
Every other conjure weapon is completely useless, instead of being generally useless.

Wow someone worked hard there; impressive.
Because the implementation is terrible:
1- NOBODY plays the objectives because there is no reasons to win
2- People avoid combat on all sides to just take free loot from the AI and level up characters
3- It is not part of the PPT rotation (see point 1)
4- You need a “taxi” to get your whole guild there
5- It is not in the servers map rotation, it goes against the main WvW server system
6- It does not serve it’s initial purpose, since in most tiers you are in queue less than 3 minutes (and it takes 5-10 minutes just to catch up to a commander in EotM since there are no waypoints)
7- If you die you have to run all the way back
8- There is no smooth surface to GvG without getting some canons firing on you
That’s pretty much it…
What’s good about it:
1- The designer did an amazing job
2- Graphically it is outstanding
3- Creatures and buffs are really interesting
I get it too, along with half a dozen other mac-version crashes.
Took them 6 months to balance the engies and they’ve overdone it by so far they made turrets completely useless.
This should be fixed immediately, not in 6 months or a year.
How can you talk about balancing EotM when nobody is even playing the objectives.
Everyone get’s on level 80 in organized TS and play EotM objectives = Balanced done.
Problem is, Anet gave people no incentive to do that, because there is no reward and no servers.
If you watch the video where they announce the epic Evasive Arcana/Elemental Attunement nerf it’s like they know it’s a terrible idea but decided to go with it anyway.
Give me one example where they listened to elementalist-players feedback about the elementalist.
All they listen to is other classes complaining about the ele and then nerf us down.
You could buff the staff auto-attack projectile speed by 200% and it still wouldn’t be OP. What about water 1 auto-attack on staff, they sure made certain nobody would ever use that.
24h matchups. Resets every day, increased upgrade speed by 2×.
In ESO transfers are free, just saying. Asking people to pay on top of the initial payment just to change servers is not generous at all.
I think they fixed it for two week and then broke it again with the following patch, kinda like the Mac crashes (they were once fixed, but all came back).
They don’t need to be “nerfed down” but they need to be balanced.
Some of the stuff like Longbow has to be nerfed indeed, just because in comparison to other class weapons it does 3x the damage from 5x the range. Perhaps just a 10%-15% damage or recharge would do.
Roots also need to break immob as soon as they are destroyed.
They could perhaps have a buff in other areas to compensate, like traps.
Other class skills have to be addressed as well, Lich form and Life Blast is just too strong specially when you compare those to other class elites. Here also a 10-15% damage nerf wouldn’t hurt.
I would love to see more pvp modes and options but this 20v20 is meh, I was excited until i watched the youtube videos. Its just players running around in circles spamming aoe, pure chaos cant tell wtf is going on
Well, that’s exactly what I was saying before: People who have never played it have no idea how it works so for them it seems like a blob fight.
It’s anything but “players running in a circle”, there is a lot of strategy involved.
You can do 15v15 too, but 20 is just more fun.
Face it, they didn’t try to balance turrets, they just took them out of the pvp game.

Picture something like 15vs15 or 20vs20 fighting over a single tower. One group on the defensive side one on the offensive. Ah one can dream i guess…
Considering it took them an eternity to come up with a single Stronghold map I wouldn’t expect anything revolutionary in terms of pvp content duting GW2 lifespan.
Look at all the people thinking that the GvG community is small when new GvG guilds are forming up constantly. There is a serious misunderstanding of what GvG is from people that never participated in one, both from a gameplay and community perspective.
A GvG hub would give this game new life. A single Stronghold map will get pvp players sticking around for 6 more months or so before they are bored again.
New gvg guilds form from players from dead gvg guilds. lol. It is doubtful any game mode is receiving a steady increase of new blood these days. Maybe new guilds form, but how many actual new players are joining in?
It really doesn’t matter hat you think about the GvG community size considering it doesn’t even have a proper map and isn’t a supported game mode. If it was in the game, with defined rules, ranking and a good 4-5 arenas, people would play it more than PvP.
Nothing would be better for GW2 than having short WvW-size type battles with a scoring system that isn’t as meaningless as the current PPT system.
Honestly today I destroyed like 4 turrets with a single d/d ele fire burst.
It seems Anet doesn’t know how to balance classes: they nerfed turrets by like 250% extra incoming damage instead of doing a proper balancing job and decreasing their hp by something like 15-20%. It is a completely overdone nerf, and honestly, even if I hate turret engies I didn’t want their build to be completely useless/broken, it’s not good for the game.
On top of that they don’t even nerf the insane ranger damage from crazy range or fix all the useless ele skills. I can’t think of any worse balancing in a MMO besides ESO.
