Like I said, we in Abyss do not exploit anything and if someone would it would be against our policy. I’ve taken EB with that commander a dozens of time in the last weeks only using rams, I can’t even remember a time when he placed down a cart.

He has been outspoken against the exploit. That you accuse him of cheating is particularly infuriating to us who have accompanied him and our guild members.

As if having a huge lead, a huge zerg, and a few golems weren’t enough. Pathetic.

The people of DH really do have massive ego issues. They have more points than both IoJ and DR combined. In this picture I see a total of 5 DR defending, and DH had enough to create swords (so the 30+ accusation is accurate, although I believe it was much more than that).

If you’re destroying your opponents by more than double their points, and you have a zerg that outnumbers them 6:1 at minimum with 2 golems, and you still feel the need to exploit, your server is garbage. It’s not even like it’s one or two random PUGs anymore, it’s an Abys commander now, taking out 80 supply (at least) worth of seige unfairly. DH is most definitely the least skilled server DR has met. I apologize to those that have been playing fairly and friendly toward us, this message is not to you. It is to those that have cheated and killed your reputation.

First of all:
1- I know Abyss thief commander and he doesn’t us the exploit. He is totally against that. If he’s using a cart, it is not with an hack of some sort but legitimately.

2- We in Abyss have had a discussion about this hack and this thread, our conclusion was that nobody in Abyss is allowed to use it because we do not want a negative reputation.

You can flatter your ego and justify your “bad performance” all you want by pretending we hack, but our guild does not allow it and if an isolated case would arise (and certainly not that commander which is as clean as one can possibly be in terms of playing the game fairly) it will surely be dealt with by our guild leader.

Ha, nothing but bias and misquotation. DH will lie about anything to satisfy their egos. I don’t hate zergs, I never said that zergs should be outlawed. In fact, I encouraged DH to zerg more because we took everything back while they paid 100% attention to one objective. Please read before you spit an irrelevant rebuttal. Btw, 15-20 people is not a zerg, and I bet that they were wiped out by a 40+ DH zerg just seconds after the picture was taken.

In fact, I not once complained or whined about being outmanned. I’m simply proving the DH who believe that they win due to tactics wrong.

Some suspect that we in Darkhaven are not humans but are in reality reptilian shapeshifters from the orion galaxy.

Hey, good fights with IoJ yesterday at your keep in EB.

My word of advice (which you can purposefully ignore):
Your defence was lacking in the lord room, while it’s there that it you should have the most siege, and waited with your people ( a good number died outside). 5 carts, 2-3 balistas and a cata would perhaps have saved your keep because we were not that many.

Anyway don’t feel bad, Darkhaven is really on fire at the moment and seems a good number of people on your server gave up on WvW. You guys just need to rally more people, you have good strategy.

As for the “zerg-this” “zerg-that” discussion on this forum, it’s not true that only numbers matter.

We have flanked a few slightly bigger zerg yesterday with almost no casualties. The element of surprise cannot be ignored, the ground level and situation, is extremely important and dare I say combo-skill as well. You (IoJ) have done so as well, so a minimum respect for the skill of the other players would do some good in this thread.

Doing good sometimes doesn’t justify the other times you had huge numbers and didn’t use that potential.

You do realize most people will play where it’s fun to play right? You are never going to be able to force pugs to swap maps just because it’s what’s best for the server.

The best commanders in DH often switch between maps, the people they command follow them. Admitting you can’t achieve this again proves my point about you guys lacking organization. We almost always have a discussion in the background about what is happening on each map.

You do realize we played against BP right? I am actually playing against BP right now on my secondary account. You can skip the bullkitten about how you are outmanned, because trust me, I know. As of right now you have a ton more people in EB than BP does, and that has been the case for this entire week. Weren’t the weekdays supposed to be weak for DH?

It wasn’t the case when we played against them. There has been an increase in the amount of WvW players on the DH in the last 3 weeks for many positive reasons.

If you knew the dedicated WvW guilds we have in DH at the moment and the level of coordination you wouldn’t say we are winning because of numbers only.

Do you want me to bring up every anecdotal evidence of how DH runs away and gets curbstomped at every turn?

Seriously, I got my gift of battle in less than 2 week attacking only you guys , 1 to 3 hours per day with some day off. At an average of 30-50 badges an hour. The amount of time your guys died and yet didn’t have to is mind boggling to me. But yeah sure, we are the one that run away I guess…

First and foremost, I didn’t deny we have more people, I was just saying that when you do have bigger numbers than us you are failing at making points.

What was this tonight with DR huge zerg around your keep? You guys take Durios and leave it undefended. Meanwhile IoJ is taking all your borderland. You should have separated the zerg in 2 and defended your stuff instead of annoying SM and alerting every darkhavener on the server.

We were outnumberred by Bp but we were never humiliated because we focused on defence and quick sneaky captures. Even if we knew we were losing we made it as close as a fight as it could be.

If it’s just numbers of players at work why are you guys even playing this game?

As for skill there is obviously good and bad players on all sides. But when half your zerg runs away you are not leaving much chance to the people fighting, specially if you are only just slightly outnumbered (I’ve seen a few times).

Let me give you a mission. Count the amount of “massive DR zergs” you see outside of prime time. Go ahead. Do it and return with results.

Or do you think that the match up is decided during the 4 hours that is prime time or the 20 hours that is not?

I’m talking about how you guys are playing when you have the numbers there. Lately I’ve counted a massive DR zerg pretty much every day. BTW you flanked us when we were attacking NorthEast IoJ tower (near ogres) yesterday and your zerg was massive (that is one case were you had a good commander and played well).

However bringing our smaller zerg down will not give you points automatically. IoJ on the other hand seem to be more tower and objective focused, while you guys certainly have the spirit but sometimes (I’m really not the only one thinking this) you are not playing logically. Banging your head on a keep door ignoring the undefended watergate is somethings that comes to my mind which I’ve witness multiple times.

I have no doubt that DH has some awesome sauce WvW players, but right now I am not seeing any of them. You are purely winning through numbers and coverage.

Not sure how a darkhavener should react to this.
I’ve stopped counting the amount of times me and either a few of my Abyss or Darkhavens friend ran straight in larger DR or IoJ zergs and demolished you (not without casualties). I’ve said it last week and it’ even more apparent this week, you guys are not using well the numbers you have.

For example: DR:
they took Stonemist for a few hours, huge numbers. More than we were darkhaveners. We captured it finally, it took an hour of persistence and 2 good commanders. What the hell were they doing during that time? They barely constructed any siege, we had small groups infiltrating their BL and taking towers in EB.

In the end they had SM but were losing more points. They gradually became totally disorganized, through persistence we eventually demoralized them. All it took at the end was some diversion and some flanking, and some crazy move: some dudes (me) running right in the SM zerg with a fiery sword and a dozen other cool darkhaveners with their own little combo tricks that were not afraid to die and run back because they understand this is also a psychological battle, that a fearless enemy is more dangerous.

And also do not underestimate what a good commander can do with a small zerg. It’s not all about zerg size. I’m sure DR and IoJ can do better. DH currently is near the best it has ever been, and it could still do better.

Saying this is just numbers at work make you sound like a bad loser. Some IoJ and Dr zergs I’ve seen have nothing to envy our DH zergs.

As for the pictures of us taking another another BL, it’s the work of a single guild, they were between 15-20. I went to see who it was and came back to EB. You could have prevented that with 5 guys and siege.

Last night both IoJ and DR had huge zergs going around. I still feel you DR guys could do more damage with the numbers you have.

Even through we do have better 24/7 coverage around midnight-east we seem to be on equal footing.

We will be fighting together for a while, because usually when DH goes up a rank we usually are in the same situation DR is now and go back down relatively quickly.

Some of our more competent commanders have been doing some PvE stuff, which is why we got ravaged in our BL for a while. Pixieish’s pict is from when we tried to take our garrison back, we were totally disorganized and you guys did some good flanking.

Tornado was useful only once for me:
I had discovered a mesmer portal in SM on the walls. Quickly I equipped it and turned tornado on the portal. Half the zerg was blown back down.

It’s the only time it was usefull (it had been “fun” other times however), and the only real utility I have found for it. However, it doesn’t reward you at all, since it does literally no damage.

Actually, why not allow swaping during combat with a 60 seconds delay or something? Would that buff us so much? We could do some new Staff/dagger combo and dealt perhaps more descent damage.

We are already dying more than other classes as soon as we move forward.

The design philosophy of the game is to limit the total number of possible skill combinations. Therefore it seems unlikely that ArenaNet will implement in-combat weapon swaps for elementalists. Just remember, if you can’t think of it, and ArenaNet can’t think of it, that still doesn’t matter there won’t be some player that can find a way to abuse it.

For example, how about a Frozen Ground followed by a Magnetic Leap? Chill your target, immobilize it in an ice field, add another second of chill thanks to the projectile and get Frost Aura on yourself to boot.

And then you’re gonna start fighting for real…

Yes I know all of that, still we currently are dealing less damage than every other classes and have less health.

We could have a 5 second delay (skills charging) on weapon swap, thus preventing usage of such combos.

Actually, one of the best solution for balancing the ele is the one nobody wants to look into, and the more I think about the more I think it’s the right one:

Allowing elementists to swap weapons during battle.
This would certainly buff us slightly without having to rebalance the entire skills list we have.

I have just tried the scepter in WvW for the first time. I had never realized how useless that weapon is until now. Seriously, arc lightning? delivers about 2000 dmg over a period of 4 seconds, a thief will have done 30000 dmg over the same lapse of time.

The ele is a total nerfed class and I’m going to drop it soon if they don’t buff it. I’m getting sick of being useful only if people are protecting me.

Fixing the Elites: The hounds should last 1 minutes instead of 30 seconds and have double the health.
Other summons should have the same fix, elemental are ridiculously useless in PvP. Just go 1vs1 against a ranger and you’ll see. They need to have double health, dmg and duration.

Anyone even use the first attack of the water attunement? It’s a total joke, it does like 300 dmg.

Fiery great sword: DMG should be increased by 20% to be on near-equal terms with warriors, it should boost your vitality by 20% as well.

Other elite skills need to be rethinked.
Tornado: useless, does like 1k dmg every 3 seconds. It should do about 3k instead.

Traits, that’s another matter entirely, less urgent to change if they fix the skills.

We need a major buff that will make us more than just a support class.
The biggest problem is that we have useless skills like the magnetic shield, fiery axe and our main attack are too slow and do at max around 2k dmg.

I imagine it was the developers intention that the first attack of the water attunement was only used for killing rabbits?

Well, I was about to foster a healthy disliking of Darkhaven (It’s all those points you have and those shiny keeps. I suppose I’m a little jealous.) but…

As my guild was busy trying to make a dent in Darkhaven territory, I was busy scouting around and spotted a Darkhaven guardian fighting an IoJ. Was perfectly happy to watch them kill each other but the IoJ elementalist began to turn tail and run. Being an opportunist, I naturally charged into kill the IoJ, and then a strange thing happened.

…the Darkhavener bowed to me.

Confused, I saluted, and decided to let him live for the moment, or at least heal up before I tried attacking, and then a pair of IoJ popped up, and the strange guardian from some Abyss guild charged in. Not caring much for unfair fights, even if it lead to a hated enemy’s death, I carefully jumped in as well (and felt some delight that at least I’d be killing an enemy I hated even more… thieves.).

I did nick him a bit, but somehow, at the end, two IoJ were lying dead, and certain to scream about DH and DR’s secret alliance, and I was left staring at my enemy as we saluted to each other.

Sadly any attempts to communicate with him failed, so I was left with displaying my hostile intent with several /threatens and some warning shots from my staff. He seemed saddened that I still wanted to fight, but I made sure it was as fair of a fight as possible, full health, no interruptions.

Annoyingly I died in a close fight, though I’m sure I’ll kill him next time. (I got a tad too confident. Didn’t bother using all of the abilities I had at my disposal until it was too late.)

It is a pity I never got a hold of him. He is a worthy adversary, and too polite. I feel bad when I’m fighting polite people. (Blighter even cried after he killed me. We’re enemies, you frelling friendly Darkhavener!)

lol cool, I’m in Abyss so I’ll ask around who it was and tell him about this thread.
Abyss is a small selective guild and the people there are super friendly. I certainly enjoy running directly at zergs sometimes when outnumbered for the heck of it with my ele’s fiery sword. Perhaps it’s a habit some in our guild developed, as we can always rely on the other members to be revived if we get back downed.

As for people talking about numbers, I’ve often had more fun fighting DR than others, your heart seems to be more into it and you like to rush forward – taking your keep a few days ago was much harder than we expected. But frankly AR could do more damage to us with smaller teams: Today when taking Quentin we were on equal numbers: You flanked in from the wrong side to defend, against the tower wall and all packed together; we squished you all to death within 20 seconds. There is a definitive lack of strategy there, it has nothing to do with numbers.

Fact is, you hear a few chop sounds, you see the numbers flying, and 1 second later your dead. How is this supposed to be fun? I don’t care if you have to buff any other aspect of the thief but for kitten’s sake this kittening kitten is kittening unbalanced, 75% of the time I get killed it’s by an invisible thief, perhaps 15% by a mesmer, and 10% the other classes.

2 things I’ve noticed very quickly.

1- textures on the owl flying in WvW are stretched to the edges of the screen and flickering

2- client disconnected after 5 minutes of playing, perhaps it’s just coincidental.

Every server has disorganized PUGs. Personally, I prefer fighting guilds who think that a portal bomb = automatic win.

Lol, this seems like a thing from Darkhaven really. Yesterday we were portal bombed 10 times by different groups of people, some multiple times, who also got wiped every single time.

It’s kind of amusing but at the same time kind of sad. Not saying this as a troll, I do applaud your effort in using strategies, but portal bombing the same group using 5+ hammer guardians is just not gonna end well, not the first time nor the n:th time.

Seriously, we take a portal when a mesmer puts it there. It’s not like we plan these thing 1 hour in advance. We have some good mesmers, that’s all. Of course there are ways to protect golems and not them would show a seriously lack of strategy.

Well, about an hour or so ago, I had some of my guildmates informing me that our borderlands weren’t going well, and when I showed up, I had the pleasure of seeing a rather sizable force of Darkhaven breaking through the southern gate of our garrison, eager for blood.

Personally? I think I barely did anything to improve our odds beyond giving a nice blue sigil for our forces to look at, with DR militia quickly manning the ballistas and turning those rednames into porcupines when they broke the inner gate and piled in.

Our forces tried to push them out, but annoyingly Darkhaven managed to rally up quick like, and soon we were back inside garrison, trying to rebuild siege, regroup, and… wonder why the hell someone decided we needed a golem.

This time, however, we discovered we still had a mortar handy, and with a catapult built up as well, Darkhaven’s siege attempts were pretty much nullified. I tried to group up our forces for a proper counterattack, though that was rendered pointless when our guys just charged them anyways, and I found myself following them, leaving a trail of sparkling bags and corpses behind us as we finally managed to break that assault on our lands.

Was a little anticlimatic when we managed to retake all of our map with little fuss, but I suppose I can’t complain.

Well well well… Considering the failure that was the attempt to take Stonemist from DH just an hour ago I wouldn’t brag too much being in your shoes. I guess it goes both ways, and that what this game is all about But thanks, you guys filled up my inventory with loot, TWICE! See you on the fields!

It’s had to believe they spent so much time making a nice looking tornado effect and when it came to balancing it they made sure it was totally worthless. Is there a better way to die than run into a zerg than in tornado form?!

If you were immune to damage it could perhaps be useful to move slowly and bounce people around, but as it is now the damage it does is ridiculous.

The ele staff does need some tweaking. At the bare minimum the range and speed on the staff could be increased. 1 vs 1 with a staff is virtually impossible to survive if your facing a skilled player (unless he is having a bad day).

Meteor shower could take place within a smaller lapse of time because right now everyone has time to run out of it (there should be less time between the meteors). They could increase the reload time to compensate for the buff.

The first attack of water, earth and air are literally worthless (specially water, wtf?). I often find myself casting the second air spell when I am reloading my attunements, immediately thinking to myself that this kittening spell takes 3 second to cast and that Ill be dead by the time I’m done.

I guess when I get enough gold that is the next thing I will do, stop using the staff and go for daggers.

Hi,
I think one of the nice things when playing with a group of friends is the ability to see what others are doing. This is a positive thing both from a community point of view and as a way to chain combos or stacks conditions.

When an opponent has a burning condition we clearly see flames on his body, however when we stack a bleeding condition on a foe only the caster see numbers going down, there is no way for teammates to know that this opponent is bleeding for 15 seconds unless they looks at the icons when he is targeted (something we honestly rarely have time to look at).

Why not have a blood trail following him? or bloodstains on the environment? Bleeding should be a dramatic thing, not just numbers going down.

On the same topic, I would like to optionally see the spells my teammates are casting beside their icon in my party.

My respect to IoJ as well, you defended your Garrison from us (DH) last night and won with style. As for AR, those battles earlier at the camp south of Quentin… Brutal… When our zerg meet it’s brutal (and laggy).

I haven’t commanded in a while…until tonight that is! Had loads of fun running with my guild (WAR), TDME, TWIN and VS in IoJ BL. Got a whisper from TDME and we took IoJ Hills.

Then while we were busy with IoJ at bay. DH decided to take Hills when it had paper gates. Go figure.

Then while we were in the midst of wiping IoJ, for the first time, at inner bay. DH takes their garrison. Hmm a pattern is forming here.

Then after wiping IoJ countless times on inner, DH weasels their way in and hides in the water. When they think it’s clear they decide to try where IoJ had failed countless times before. A 3-way proceeds for 30 minutes and AR stands victorious! Had a little commander on commander action with the kitten from Abys DH server. The big char with the legendary. Good times!

Was there with DH Abys, that battle was totally brutal. We spanked many of you initially but you had it your way when we tried to reach your Lord.

Died just beside my commander and guild leader, as a loyal soldier. I think he tried to res me… Best kittening commander ever.

Very good players in AR. IoJ have great players as well, but seems to be outnumbered.

Mac launch with -Repair

Actually its not working, Lion Arch is bugged. I have to reload the game 3 times for it to launch, second time I have to force quit. When in Lion Arch if I leave and come back it crashes again.

Edit: now I’ve launched it 5 times in a row and it does’nt work anymore…
The game just stopped working.

Edit2: after a dozen crashes it decided to verify all 300000 files…

All I can think of when I look at this is, for the love of kitten don’t ever play any other MMO ever, where the rogue class has an actual stealth that works indefinately. If you think a class that actually has to actively work at being stealthed for duration is bad you would murder yourself rather than deal with a real stealth class.

Seriously I’m talking about abusing the AI and killing people in less than a second, the first being a bug and the second a balance issue. That the thief class is hard or easy to play is irrelevant. Do you believe that the ele is an easier class to play? We cannot even switch weapons without having the inventory window opened.

Play something else then, because you’re obviously not suited to what you chose.

You think I’m the only one with that opinion? I am certain the majority of players think the thieve are OP. And why do you have to make it personal? I did say that if you disagree I am welcoming your point of view. You don’t have to tell me to kitten off.

They need to make a profession called Thief-hunter:
They could sneak up on thieves and kill them in 0.5 seconds.

I agree, Ele should be able to swap from Staff to daggers with the press of a button when out of combat.

Guys, how do you not understand that would be extremely unfair to other professions. We as elementalists have 20 skills on our weapon. Now, for those of you griping that other professions get to swap 2 sets, even though they can swap between 2 different sets, they still only have 10 abilities available to them. So, even with other professions getting the ability to swap between 2 weapon sets, we still have TWICE the amount of options they do for their 1-5 skills. We have it VERY easy as eles.

They could put a delay on it, it has nothing to do with battle or overpowering the Ele, it has to do with having to search your kittening inventory to change your weapon set.

WvWvW needs more maps for sure, more puzzles as well and a other layer of objectives that gives different perks. And the maps we have should have more varied weather: perhaps the weather could change each week.

1- More Maps
2- Weekly weather changes on each maps
3- A new layer of events-objectives doable by a smaller party that gives less points but adds perks
4- More WvWvW loot and forgable items
5- The ability to fill your supplies with 5 badges (1 badge = 2 supplies – good for losing teams)
5- More siege weapons, ex:
-a parachute (would be nice considering we always have to jump down mountains)
-some group transportation vehicle
-water siege weapons/traps?
-cannons we can set to the ground

Just some ideas…

Well, the first person here responded something which goes in the way of what I was saying, others just went into a “you don’t know how to play – you must suck” mode, while I’ve been playing this game extensively and have waited a freaking long time before posting this. What I see in WvWvW is people getting killed by thieve all over the places and most are all kitten mad about it because it comes from nowhere and they simply can’t survive the initial burst. And the fact that you blame me for using a staff instead of daggers in PvP just proves my point further about the need to beef up the ele staff ability.

I have duelled every classes with my staff ele to some relative success, but thieves are another matter entirely and the fact that they can abuse the AI is just wrong.

Why would you make this well balanced game and then throw in a class that kills other classes in less than 1 sec. And that just not the only thing, its also freaking invisible 90% of the time. Seriously?

I’ve played about 200 hours as an Ele so far (all my stuff is exotic lv80), it was ridiculous at he beginning and it’s still ridiculous now. Meanwhile you’ve nerfed the Ele; AoE spells, those which takes 4 sec to cast (a thief can kill you 4 times by the time your first meteor hits the ground) and recently Ride the Lightning (as if moving fast shiny a nice purple effect is somewhat comparable to being invisible and bursting 15000k dmg in 1 sec) … The staff speed is also slow as kitten – you can bubble all your shield for a grand total of 7-8 seconds survivability while hes just invisible “forever”

Even worse than that, it’s just breaking the game: I can usually defend camps alone, by buying guards at the camp to fight alongside me (something good for example when your server has a low population), but the thief can just become invisible and the AI will stand there as if I’m not getting killed. Then the AI will try to res me as the thief will show up for brief 2 sec moments to kill them one after the other.

If the thief doesn’t have AoE how come he can solo massive AI groups easier than the ele?

I don’t know, am I the only one that think this class is totally overpowered and has an unfair advantage over AI? I didn’t play the other class but in PvP the mesmer and rangers seems well balanced with the ele.

Losing a monthly sucks

…Specially when you come back from work thinking you still have a good 6 hours before midnight to finish your monthly, and then realizing the server is already in March.

Some sort of countdown clock or warning would be nice…

Ah well, kitten that.
