Make a thief or a guardian or accept that your class is meant to be a supportive class…

Seriously, all you can do is bring up your HP by 2000 and lower your damage.
My build is similar actually: 0/20/0/20/30, 18000hp but much less toughness, about 450 healing.

The classic setup is 0/10/0/30/30. It gives good survival opportunities.

But, I got sick of it, because its almost impossible to bring someone down with that build. Now I’m running 0/20/0/20/30… Gives better crits & dmg (49%/73% with fire signet). However my healing is much worse than before and I die more often in zerg battles.
You still die all the time in 1 vs 1 because your an elementalist and the game classes are imbalanced, but at least you do credible damage and against total noobs you can win.

Please revert RTL-Changes

Apparently they felt Ride the Lightning was too much fun, therefore Overpowered – even if it does very little damage… Meanwhile they are fine with a class being invisible all the time and bursting in 1 second twice the damage we do in 5.

Such an imbalance multiplayer game is never fun to play in the long run, and I predict that as soon as a good alternative is released (ESO perhaps) people will jump ship. I know I will.

If you ever go for a legendary doing the WvW map completion will be the least of your worries.

Anet nerfing the best T6-material farm spot will probably be the first one, and not far bellow the bad implementation of the precursor weapons.

lol Yeah that sums it up. As an ele you have no chance to kill him anyway, all you can do is throw some particle effects at him to impress an imaginary public.

Wait, we’ve been preparing for days this Omega Golem attack and “supposedly” we would be playing it for 3 hours at an unwatchable resolution just to setup an arrowcart for 30 seconds in a huge zerg battle that runs at about 5 frames per seconds? This is pretty ridiculous.

In all honesty, we don’t even care that much about winning; we just wanted to have fun and play as well as we can.

Is there any sort of timeline on this? It was first stated over 6 months ago I believe. Is this something that is going to happen in the next few months? 6 more months? A year? 10 years? Obviously you can’t give us an exact date, but some sort of rough timeline would be nice.

We’ve learned we really can’t give timelines, since if we’re ever wrong a mob comes after us with torches and pitchforks I can say we started designing this, and realized the proper (not hacked in quick) solution needs to be a part of bigger systems that more clearly directs players as well as ties in comprehensive rewards for playing across our game world, which we’re currently working on right now.

Some small parts of that comprehensive plan for game reward systems are already rolling out this month with the updates to WvW rank rewards.

That is certainly something I am looking forward too… I have almost everything I need for my legendary, but getting the precursor is really discouraging me.

For comparison, if you want to stack might on an elementalist you need to sacrifice 30 points into Fire, therefore losing either all your arcana (attunement swap speed, dodging skills, etc) or all your water (survival, condition removal).

Yet, elementalists are visible all the time, have a much lower damage output, less mobility, and casting time about 5 times longer…

And they keep nerfing the ele! What a gigantic mistake.

Just more proof the Thief invisibility is OverPowered: The Ai wont even react… Why would a thief spend point in resistance against guards if he can just glitch them?

For me there are many reason why it’s getting boring at the moment:

1: It’s the same maps over and over again with the same objective, to much repetition
We need at least 1 new map, perhaps with 3 castles instead of one; a different battle paradigm. It also needs unpredictable group events, a weather system that affect players skill (rain would extend the duration of water field but reduce mobility, etc).

2: aoe limit and “too much class balance”. Imbalance in a WvW setting is welcome as it creates different group strategies. Nerfing a class skill so that they become a copy of the same skill (with a different name) of another class (like they did with Mist form) is a HUGE mistake.

3: uninteresting loot, lazy implementation of AI npcs, and tedious mechanics (like the siege refresh, or using a trebuchet for 30 minutes…). Targeting system should be improved.

4. Sound quality, the ram sound for example is half bugged (sometimes a ram hit the gate and you do not hear it) and the sounds generally aren’t very HiFi (In my opinion they sound very Low-Fi). When a gate goes down my subwoofer should vibrate.
Random music, often out of context with what is happening on screen, so much that I have disabled it.

5. Blood and other fx, when someone has 20 stacks of bleeding on them we should see blood… This goes in the category of immersion…

6: Lack of First person View like Guild Wars 1 (also immersion).

Right now i run about 65% crit damage and 55% change with fury. I find that does the job quite well. I couldn’t help adding a couple clips post nerf they were fun fights. Most is post nerf.

Thanks, so how come I see you in there use the 4th earth spell for a 10k crit?

I have 68% crits and 34% chance (without food) and the most I get is around 6000. I can’t imagine that you have so much power???

I’ve been playing yesterday and today the CoE dungeon with some hardcore players. One of the guy (not an ele), when playing glass-canon could deal over 40000 dmg in one hit to the golem boss. (he said his maximum hit ever was over 45000 dmg) This is no bullkitten, the boss which normally takes 3-4 minutes went down in a few seconds.

Well what hit was doing 40,000 damage?

If it’s Hundred Blades, that’s actually 8 hits.

Technically, I could do over 50,000 damage in ‘one hit’ on Elementalist from almost 1200 range away. If the target is big enough, that’s a single cast of Meteor Shower

I don’t know what it is but it’s something out of the ordinary. It literally destroys the CoE Golem boss in a few seconds. Maxed out glass-canon elementalists would still take a few minutes.

As I was witnessing that, I realized that on my first attack I was hitting only 450 dmg (I play half-bunker, in order to die in 4 thief hits instead of 2)…

On his class, after maximizing weakness condition on a boss, he was basically doing 100 times (!!!) the amount damage my “amazing” ele could slowly do with his first skill. Or if you turn this around, well over 10 times my crits on a meteor shower.

And they nerfed the ele!!!
Just to give you an idea how much the balance in this game is a total disaster.

That said, I don’t think Anet really played their game enough recently, because this is true imbalance, not: Ride the Lightning is going to 1500 instead of 1200 range and we should make it work twice less often —- when meanwhile you have people that are permanently invisible killing people in 2 hits bashing one key.

Hey guys

This is a duel between Intigo, who is a great D/D ele player and Osicat, the famous shatter mesmer. As you can see, these battles are before the nerfs. Both are very good players, they have mastered the class to an excellent level and they are very capable of killing both opponents. They also are very evened out.

Now tell me, if a mesmer can play like that against a clearly overpowered profession (/sarcasm). Why did they only nerf us so badly? If a mesmer if capable of doing that, aren’t they OP as well?

Not suggesting they are OP just simply stating that the nerfs were unreasonable. Especially the RTL nerf. Inb4 confusion nerf which barely hurt him.

It’s pretty obvious to me that Anet does not care about the elementalist class as anything else than a support class. Their latest nerf strongly limited our capacity to spend points in damage traits and forced most of us to divert about 15-25% of our damage output into vitality and healing. We are so underpowered now the elementalist class is by far the most difficult to play and less rewarding, and everyone knows and laugh about it.

Staff Ele WvW Advice?

I just posted something about this in the suggestion section. The person that said that it’s too late to change anything now is probably right.

The question will soon be the following: Why farm for days and days and even spend some real cash for a legendary weapon that is badly implemented in the game if you could just experience a whole new MMO. The last nerf to the elementalist class (which has definitively unbalanced the game further and made the game less fun to play for me) convinced me that the next 50$ I spend wont be on the gem store, but on another game.

Serious question to developers: How are you supposed to get the precursor for the legendary weapons?

Right now we have to farm 15 hours a day for 3 or more months until we have 700 gold and waste it all on the TP. But here is the catch, if you find a good farming spot to gather tier 6 materials and gold, you can’t count on it because Anet will nerf it (“disable it”) as soon as it becomes popular. Serious paradox there: The game encourage farming but does not allow it when the player doesn’t feel he’s wasting 10s of hours of his life.

We can also use the Mystic Forge and throw 500 worth of exotics in there, which is like playing a lottery you may never win…

Anyway, why haven’t the developers thought of a way to get the precursors that has to do with playing the game and having fun, like everything else. Perhaps after doing all the dungeon paths or something? Or getting to a certain fractal level. Or crafting it, using all crafting disciplines.

Because the way it is right now it is NOT fun.

I wonder how many more things not listed in patchnotes it cannot block.

I used to think focus was a PvE weapon…its no more.
in WWW focus is just useless….you give up most mobility and damage you have to get some seconds of inv or anti projectile…

Yeah I noticed that too. It seems they make changes and do not realize how these changes dramatically alter the playability of their own game! (and therefore the FUN we have playing – in a negative way)

It deals descent damage if your a glass canon and have 11000hp. Else with 16000hp+ d/d elementalists and elementalists in general make less damage than every other class.

They felt it was necessary for elementalists to do less damage than other classes because our skills are so very fast… /sarcasm

by the way: a thief removed 20000hp from me in less than 3 seconds today, less time than it takes to charge the most powerfull ele spell, which hits for roughly 6000-7000 on a critical hit with a glass canon. Oh and he was also freaking invisible all the time so you cant even hit him while your down…

The game is just totally unbalanced. I don’t understand how they can leave things in a mess like this and keep adding stuff.

Well, first thing first, flame axe and magnetic shield seem totally worthless as they are at the moment. It makes you wonder why they even took the time to design them if they were destined to be so under-powered.

Also they need to give the frost bow the range of the ranger’s bow. 900 for a bow isn’t enough.

Well the threads are depressing because nerfing skills to be twice less effective is a negative approach to balancing a game. If Anet didn’t want negativity to flood their forum they should have bumped up those skills who they thought were underpowered (like thief invisibility – they should be 100% of the time invisible and deal 25k dmg in one burst…)

The balanced ele (15000hp) dies in 2-3 hits (or one burst from a OP invisible thief). At decent hp levels to survive (19000hp and up) the ele does the least damage of all classes.

So please, after the last horrible class-breaking nerf, at least have the decency of not ruining our down-state skills as well. Because having to run back every time (which is about every 5 minutes) is all we need to have all eles stop playing WvW.

Also, sometimes the game itself will block too many consecutive attempts to sell as a means to most likely prevent botting.

I wouldn’t think so, I’m just trying to get rid of the stuff I’m crafting (levelling my crafts).

I can’t even sell my spare carrots.

It worked for a while, and now it stopped working again.

I find it freaking annoying to have to run to carts and balistas all the time to refresh them so that they do not disappear, or have a superior siege weapon lost because someone doesn’t have the missing 10 supplies and the siege weapon 2 minutes run out before it is built.

Lot’s of annoying things in this last patch.

It will be reverted in 2133 or when they realise that ele is realy unplayable anymore in pvp and/or wvw, which imo isn’t the case.

(haven’t test in pvp yet after patch, too busy with Molten Front)

Yeah it will be reverted in WvW as well, when Anet realize they broke the class… Which is probably never. I’ll just jump ship to the next big MMO.

Cantrip D/D is hardly affected by Cleansing Water and is the only set up able to survive Mist Form Nerf.

I studied the builds and came to the same conclusion.

Not much choice than to go bunker after the last patch. In my opinion the last patch made the water trait much better than the other traits (besides arcana). The extra vitality and healing is far more useful than anything else. They’ve unbalanced the class.

The current state of arrow carts is worth an emergency patch. Literally, some programmer’s pager should be going off for him to get up and fix it now lol. I mean he says that it is in testing, but there is no way that they tested it before they changed arrowcarts in the first place.

It’s hard to say what they are thinking, making professions less fun to play by nerfing them and completely unbalancing the game competitive mechanic are both VERY bad decisions considering the strong competition they will have to face from newer games by the end of the year.

Some of us are probably tired of playing the same 3 maps over and over again (I know I am) and adding on top of that the awkwardness of the changed mechanics…

I urge Anet to stop nerfing classes (boost useless skills instead) and offer new WvW environments and battlegrounds instead of changing the balance and offering a levelling system that changes the balance as well.

You guys do not need to agree with what I said I’ve done, it’s also dependent on the playing style and my 16000hp build depended on the Mistform healing… I don’t really care if you don’t agree.

I’m just saying its much more fun to stay alive than to do 15-20% more damage and be killed in 2 hits. The extra 5000hp covers the healing I would have done in Mistform.

To be a little clearer. The fixes to arrow carts will be coming quickly. We are already putting those in and testing them. Those should bring them more in line with what we expect them to be.

Thanks, a 33%-40% damage reduction would be appropriate in my opinion.
Obviously off topic, but: Also the Elementalist nerf is too extreme: The Ride the Lightning nerf to 40 seconds (double the recharge time!!!) would be more acceptable if the distance covered had not been reduced as well.

I find playing a 16000hp ele is no longer fun, but I made a new build with 21500hp yesterday (cantrips) and while you end up making about 20% less damage you do not die at every battle as that was the obvious intention of the nerf. Staying alive longer means you make more damage as well as we all know.

Anyway it’s ridiculous to give 11000 base hp to a class that can only walk around safely in WvW with 20000. They broke the balance so we have to balance the class ourselves.

So yeah, they’ve forced us into making the bunker build they wanted to nerf in the first place.

How about just remove NPCs from WvW? Its not a PVE zone.

Dude we need the rabbits to compensate for the Ride the Lightning nerf. When we hit a rabbit we elementists do not have to wait another 40 seconds to cast it again.

Save the rabbits, they now have a purpose.
