They are probably ashamed to what they did to the elementalist class so when they are ordered to add new nerf (by some sort of higher dark spiritual force) they put them in without telling anyone…
You just have to wonder why they insist on making that clkitten and less playable.
Again about the elementalist:
I play 4 classes (thief, guard, ranger are my other classes) all at level 80 and I love your game, but the numerous nerfs you have done to the elementalist in conjunction with the numerous buffs you have made for other classes is really astounding.
I have a super maxed-out elementalist (staff) with only ascended gear (even the weapon), lots of toughness, with hundreds of hours of practice and over 18k health…
Still: A single warrior can get me down in 2-3 quick hits and I cannot even move or have time to cast a spell. The same with a mesmer, who just dazes you to death without you being able to do anything. Etc.
This is totally unbalanced. Why would you give such an handicap to a class just because it has area-of-effect damage? The elementalist doesn’t have clones, cant become invisible or be shielded like a guardian, all it can do is take 3 seconds to cast a meteor shower of which the first meteor hits about 4-5 seconds if it hits at all.
You speak of giving the elementalist more support but support is all we have right now and we don’t need more of it. What the class need is an increase response speed of the skills so that we are not 3 times slower than everyone else, weapon swap on a cooldown, and then perhaps it can have a small chance at 1 vs 1.
Your decision to gradually change staff to a support only weapon is really not something I find makes the game more enjoyable. Even when we run as a guild you can hear the “oh there is an elementalist, ha! ha! ha! (everyone laughing)” as they are down in 1 second and go jump off a cliff. Even when your not playing them you would wish they could deliver a better fight.

Why are Elementalist cooldowns so long? Even the utility (6 to 0 keybound) skills have ridiculous cooldowns. 90 seconds for Armour of Earth???
Couldn’t agree with you more. But lets start with a few small things. I pointed out a possibility that I think would be a nice fix for mesmer’s with mantra’s, but I would also like to see feedback as well. I think the reason long utility cooldowns exist in ele is because they have 25 weapon skills to filter through instead of 10 like the rest of us….just saying. I agree Ele is very squishy class, perhaps a trait to increase the duration of some utility/defensive skills might balance the long recharge?
Yeah, eles do lack traits like that. In fact, most of their traits are mediocre attunement specific ones.
Well those traits are ridiculous, for examples: toughness bonus when attuned to earth.
Seriously, what is it going to change in a battle that for the 2-3 second I am attuned to earth that I get an extra 3-4% toughness? Maybe 20% would do a difference.

It’s kinda obvious they aren’t paying attention to the mac client much when a frequent crash-to-desktop bug persist for 6 month.
I don’t care if it’s native or not, just stop the game from crashing every 30 minutes in WvW
Well there are a lot of comments here but on simple question:
How about making the elementalist staff something else than merely a group support weapon?
You shouldn’t be at such a disadvantage in 1 vs 1 fight just because you’ve decided that you prefer playing a mage with a staff instead of dual daggers.
The casting times are just too long to be effective when another class can get you down in less than 2 second spamming the 1 key (while just 1 of your spells take 4 second to cast – it’s ridiculous).

Why just not make it so that when a staff Ele is confronted by any other class in 1 vs 1 it is not completely destroyed? Because right now even running away successfully would deserve a laurel and some achievement points.
I dare you, try this Anet to see just how your game is unbalanced and the ele underpowered:

That isn’t a buff… Now your meteor showers will now deal 10k dmg instead of 20k.

That’s because there is no incentive to defend. You get NOTHING to defend except spare change-like wxp and karma. There literally is no reason to defend, there is more reason to let the ball drop and recap. And for a game where keeping the points you have is equally as important as gaining points from other sources, they sure do a bad job of rewarding the defense.
If you give incentive to defend, you will have the opportunity to kill something that isn’t programmed.
I said this in another thread, and I’ll repeat what I said here for clarity, the issue with rewarding defending currently is a problem with a way the content is built and how it determines participation. Until we solve that problem, we won’t be increasing the rewards for defending because it is far too easy to game the system. That is why escorting Dolyaks is not very rewarding. Once we do solve that, we will make big moves to incentivize defending so that people who are helping out, whether it be escorting yaks, or defending objectives will see more rewards for doing that.
In my opinion if there is one thing in WvW that doesn’t fit well with the Guild Wars 2 universe it is the solo Dolyak bringing supplies to towers and keep. It’s like WvW is happening in “once-upon-a-time-land”. The new modified map is VERY welcomed, but replacing the yaks and camps with something more stylish and modern would certainly revitalize WvW.

The game is now unplayable for me since I moved to a higher tier.
It crashes every 15 minutes in WvW. In every large battle. I know it does this only since the WvW culling removal patch.
It would be very nice to have an acknowledgement and a possible future fix.

There is no point freaking out every time a developer say something might change.Saying that is easy, but you do realise if Anet can’t stick to their guns, it makes them look fickle, weak, and unworthy to take seriously, right? People respect people who hold to their convictions.
You can already see people are beginning to take Anet’s plans with less and less salt and more and more skepticism. And worst the problem is, not only does Anet change their plans, but it’s poorly implemented. There are many, many, many holes in the implementation of Ascended, and people are irritated because in acquiring it Anet made a “Crafting or GTFO” policy, even if it wasn’t intentional.
Yeah but so why care so much about what they do? When the game cease to be fun you can just move to another game. TESO will come out, GTA5, etc. Personally I like the way the ascended besides the craft levelling.
It’s just a game….

Oh wow, I’ve had to move to a higher tier server with my guild and now the gme crashes even more often. At almost every keep battle I end up crashing before being able to get my loot.
Please fix this.
I don’t think it will. Since they no-culling updates (WvW was months ago) it crashes all the time and they haven’t fixed it yet.
Hey it’s not that complicated to make one. Once you’ve levelled crafting to 450 it’s just the matter spending about 15 minutes a day crafting, for 10 days.
It’s way easier than I thought it would be.

They forgot to nerf the ele and make that class even harder to play.

Eles are NOT OK.
To be competitive they have to be geared up more than other classes. And their cast time is so slow (to do the same damage or less than the other classes) they get constantly interrupted. Some traits are totally useless: conditions caused by traits are shorter than the casting time of most staff skills. Some skills like the magnetic shield would suck even if their damage was boosted by 200%.
They should put a cap per month instead if they absolutely wanted to limit it. This way if you wanted to make an ascended in the first week you could.
Having to charge gems everyday was tedious. At least you should be able to charge 2 if you forgot to charge them on the previous day, and so on.
You need a job.
People are freaking out on this forum like it’s the end of the world every time Anet does something. It’s getting ridiculous.
Yeah I just wasted some gems on way too much of those. DON’T BE TEMPTED. It’s actually cheaper just to buy the best dyes at their 50-60g price.

Still crash all the time in large battles (when there is a lot of people in a tight space).
Those crashes have been happening for me since the culling removal patch for WvW.
Well now they have a full year to fix that class (unnerf and boost useless skills) before the next Pax tourney.

You think Anet would give us 130 gold back because we’ve bought Charred Dye twice? It’s just not a realistic request, you cannot backtrack on the market like the purchases that were made are meaningless. Real money is involved.

Seriously guys chill out. WvW has some flaws and lack some variety but you don’t have to kitten all day about it. New content will come soon, as we’ve seen in the preview video, meanwhile just take a break if your so “dissatisfied”.
Make a thief and learn to play with it. You will realize they are not over powered at all. Stealth and 1-target burst is pretty much all they have.
What the hell? I’ve been working for weeks crafting my celestial and I bought about 20 gold worth of recipe and materials just to craft it as a MF armor set. There is no other use for it, the power is just too low on it but the MF made it interesting.

The thing is at the release the ele worked very well, it’s aoe damage compensated for the super slow casting time. In fact it worked a little “too well”. They started to nerf little by little and didn’t realize they were breaking the class.
It’s when they finally removed combos we’ve been using for over 6 months that I realize nothing could be done if they kept going in the that direction and made new characters…
It’s been months with only threads here on how to save that class and apparently the developers haven’t took notice.
Sometimes Meteor Shower doesn’t hit anything. For example I just casted it right above a WvW guard and it didn’t do any damage.
I have trouble seeing how this is a plus. MF on gear had to come at a compromise. Now all our utility infusions (that took 20 days to get) are becoming worthless? Will we get the laurels back?
Good idea. And a free charred dye as a compensation for being the weakest class.
Literally paying a thief = f1 (stealth) or 5 – 1 – 2222 -1111 (guy dead)
Literally playing a staff ele = f3 -5 /interrupted – f1 -2 -5 -3 – f4 2 – 5 – f3 – f2 3-5-4 (why is that spell so slow!) – f4-f4-f4-f4 (f4 kitten it recharge) – oh noes Im gonna die -f2 – f2 -f2 – 6 / interrupted / 789 (pop all utilities) yay mist form noooooo I have 15 stacks of bleeding (health is going down), jump off cliff.
The main problem is the casting time. It’s like when the developers balanced the elementalist they didn’t take into consideration that their spell take up to 3 seconds longer to cast and and therefore are interrupted half the time.
Either reduce the casting time and animation speed by 33-50% or boost the damage of ele spells by 20-25%.
The weapon swap is the second problem. Every ele play both dagger and staff, let us swap like every other class even if it’s just to free inventory space and cannot be used in battle (because in truth we know by now you will probably never buff the ele if you can accept it in his current state).
Third problem: aoe limit. It encourage zerging and is a massive nerf to the ele. We do not even know who’s going to get hit by our spells, it makes bunch of control spells like staff-air-5 half useless.

I think if you’ve done that one you’re a true ele:
Your running with a zerg with your inventory open (because there are no weapon swap button for that poor class) . You foresee a battle and start equipping your daggers (browsing through your inventory because they got mixed up with your junk) but suddenly the battle start and you end up with only 1 dagger equipped… Thus having to run away from the battle like a moron to equip the other dagger.
Fixes for these are being worked on. As well as changes to the WvW achievements to make them more in line with all the other achievements in the game. And to reward a suitable amount of achievement points. However, making changes to achievements that are already live is far more complicated than it would seem and we have focused on other areas so far. This is on our list to fix by the end of the year, however.

Well I’m almost there, now at over 24500 WvW kills…
Looking very much forward to the SUPER GENEROUS 10 achievement points I am about to receive… However I would rather receive a PRECURSOR a title and some gold, considering all the time that took.
Seriously, I’m looking very much forward to the new content, but PLEASE fix the unrealistically disappointing rewards in WvW.
I know this is not the first time it’s mentioned, but as I am approaching my 25k now I had to say something about it.
Looking very much forward to the new Borderland map.
It seems there is a lack of imagination at work here. So much more cool stuff could be done with WvW. Making a ladder that affect siege stats isn’t one of them.
- A new battleground map with 3 castles with design based on the different cultures
- A portal in WvW that leads to organized GvG battles (taking place in guild halls as guest or defender)
- Subterranean passageways and darker areas
- Real-time weather that affects classes in different ways and bring visual variety (Snow storm, flood)
- Unique and frequent WvW crafting material drops (for legendary precursors)
- some free deathmatch maps with no structures at all, perhaps just an objective in the middle (PvP variant?)
- Events taking place around enemy commanders…
- nuke
They should bring back all the GvG content of GW1 along with the guild halls.
Now THAT would be cool.
These Colors are absolutely horrible. If there were to help the color blind people, why change colors on the icons? Change something else. The Blue blends in with the commander tag too much, just panning out by pressing M is just an eye sore now looking at all the maps. Turn down the brightness or something for these colors. Or just back to normal. Really bad change seriously.
They have a new commander trait:
on Map zoom out, 7% chance to cause an epileptic seizure
Seriously, in my opinion there is too many shades of blue, and the cyan doesn’t work well for the map. The tint doesn’t match the territory circle blue color either.
They went from purple to cyan… How about just plain blue?
The burnt orange instead of red is a bit strange as well, as if the monitor on which the red icons were made isn’t balanced for professional work.
They probably gave up on that class. Every time they make a change to the class it’s for the worse (some terrible nerf, like RTL and Mistform, AOE and removing stun, etc). Some players (like me) have had the impression that the developers are wondering how the class actually work, as they are breaking potential combos we have been using over and over for months.
The traits are totally broken, considering you are forced to place points in arcana, that condition damage has no impact when you are attuned to water, or that healing has no impact when you are attuned to fire, earth and air.
The solutions are simple yet they refuse to implement them:
1- Remove aoe limit for Ele
2- improve casting time by 25-33% on staff
3- reduce the high cd on most skills and attunement change by 25%
4- give the elementalist weapon swapping with a higher recharge rate
5- unnerf ride the lightning and mist form
6- give the elementalist more traits points than other classes to compensate for the fact that 75% of the time the chosen traits are not working (since they are on another attunement)
7- Fix the useless skills:
- summons still take too much time before attacking and die too quickly, they should stay alive 5 minutes instead of 60 seconds.
- Weapon summoning needs to be rethought and buffed. Never seen one player that use Magnetic shield, it’s a totally useless skill. The range on the Frost bow needs to be increased, a trait could do that. etc
Any one of these things would help this class. I say this and I play 4 different level 80: the elementalist is not as strong as it should be.
You have to wonder why they never comment on the ele forum with all the suggestions we make.
