I get it all the time, it’s the one I get the most often.
Lightning flash doesn’t work anymore on some places it used to work, like some stairs in WvW.
While we dont have the WvW population of FA or YB, we hold our own at times. If we could get one more decent guild we might be able to make a run. We can take things but we cant hold much in different BL’s at the moment. Still a great server. Hopefully we can either get some new matchups or some more people soon.
We will be discussing that possibility in our next guild officer meeting actually.
The last time I played GW2 was well before the megaservers became a thing. It seems like it’s been great for PvE, but not so good for WvW. What ever happened to the big match-up threads and people supporting their servers?
They locked everything. Apparently they felt uncomfortable with the competitive talk.
I stopped playing too, last update completly broke class balance and now this is just the most unbalanced competitive MMo I’ve ever seen.
Considering all the gear is supposed to be equal Anet is far from having an eSport here.
Celestial is the only thing the ele has. Nothing else is really viable for competitive play.
It’s not a “burst meta” at all. Right now everybody is still experimenting with builds, and yes, there is a lot of damage going around. You would describe intelligent play as dodging high bursts… Why not play intelligently and dodge/avoid high damage burst then?
I went over this you cant dodge while stunned or when they are in stealth that is prediction and not skill. Also the most problematic skills aren’t the ones you can dodge but the instant effect ones like Mantra of disruption when it stuns.
They also nerfed vigor. Dodges are limited.
Everyone was saying in Twitch chat that it was broken when they made their presentation. They just didn’t listen.
Also full glass thieves have always been able nearly one shot even tankier builds if they can get the jump on them, so no real change there. I mean prior to the trait changes, I’ve had my full PVT guard get insta-downed by a full glass thief with max stacks and boons because he took me by surprise.
I am a full glass thief and I couldn’t insta down people. But I wasn’t specced to one shot anyway, so in theory it would’ve been possible, the reality was different- you had fights, now it’s just burst burst burst “saw first, hit first = win”.
I’m done with wvw for now.And that’s why. This is my stab pre-patch.
With baseline toughness going up, it’s actually become more difficult to achieve these types of stabs. Most of mine are falling in the 15k zone, which is around average/low of what I did before the patch.Frankly, this is a matter of learning skilled play and using better-optimized defenses. With the number of all-in thieves on the rise, I find myself letting them engage and blow cooldowns/initiative and just retaliating and killing them after they’ve burned everything. A lot of thieves appear to be not used to handling builds involving high levels of burst or being hit back without high toughness and SR recovering all of their health.
I find the condi changes much more difficult to deal with just because the pressure from burning is so obscene right now. Full dire guards playing extremely passively/defensively and getting huge constant burning stacks is imho over-difficult to deal with. Everyone should have seen OP engineer coming, and the bugs are not helping either.
Yeah, 22k hundred blades, and Anet think light classes that need 12k hp to do equal damage are fine. What a mess.
Is anyone on Anet working to fix the crashes? On reset night it’s:
1- Spam f-enter for 10 minutes until it starts
2- Play for 10 minutes
3- Crash *
4- Wait 1 hour in queue.
It should have stayed what it was. New trait system is kinda ok, but so much stuff is broken it’s unbelievable. It’s going to take a long time before this game is even remotely viable again as a eSport.
The new system is “OK”, a better system could have been done where we didn’t lose as much versatility. Specially considering there is no more scale between adept/master/grandmaster, it’s all or nothing.
The new balance is terrible, it’s worse than how it was in the beta period before launch:
Instakill with Engi grenades, 16k burning ticks on a single guardian. It’s worth a triple facepalm.

Staff ele is fine with the current burning.
d/d ele may be a little OP, Guard is extremely OP with burning.
SAB world 3 should have been part of the expansion. Why have people wait for so long if you’re not even going to add it to the expansion?
Class balance is a delicate thing, now it got all thrown out of the window and we are starting again. Basically it’s like having a new game, totally unbalanced, but with no new content.
I think we will have to see when the classes have been rebalanced. Right now it feels like we are testers for a HoT system. Some classes benefit much more from the armor stats than others. Conceptually it is nice.
It may work, but the diversity is lost with only 3 trait lines available. This will hurt even more with the new spec. I think I would prefer an Hybrid system.

Quite frankly Anet, after a few days of testing, to me class balance seems totally broken.
My builds seems unsatisfying when I consider what I am facing, only full bunker or full dps works somewhat.
I see warriors engaging doing crazy burst, getting absolutely no damage because of all their armor, HP and invul, and then leaping away from chill and cripple as if these conditions do no longer exist.
Then I turn around and I have 3k condi ticks on me as I melt in place.
I think it’s time I take a break from this game because now I find it extremely frustrating.
Until Anet figure it out for themselves I have little hope that they will listen to our feedback for balance. Ele still has useless elites, after like 100 threads complaining about it.
I agree, be removing the condi cap they removed the only thing that was preventing balance from being completely broken.
Next thing you know it’s going to be like ESO, where broken builds dominate WvW and everyone gets dazed and 1-shot.
The game is running through a Cider wrapper which can’t deliver the performance that the game needs. There isn’t really a magic way for them to stop the crashes. The game has become more intensive on Windows, and as a result it crashes on the OSX client because the wrapper (and the fact that the app isn’t native) prevents the game from properly accessing the necessary computing resources.
Honestly that’s Anet’s problem. With the money they have they could make a Mac version like Blizzard is doing for all their game. I’m going to collect all my crashes in a folder and will email it to Anet support at the end of the month if they are willing to look at it. I expect about 250 error messages box.
Looks to me like it’s the warriors and engis that are too strong, certainly not the squishiest of classes.

Over the course of the last year the mac version of the game has accumulated a large number of crashes to a point where the game is barely playable today. Every night in 2-3 hours in WvW I can crash up to 3 times. Basically every map that is full will make us crash eventually.
On top of that, considering the strength of the Mac hardware most of us are using performances are abysmal. it Is not normal to get 17fps in 1440p on a I7 with 16 gigs of ram, 2 gigs of video ram and kitten at almost the lowest settings.
Please take your mac users seriously, we pay the same as windows users. This year it feels that things have only gotten worse for mac and we haven’t seen any sign of support on your part.

With so much work spent on the new build system would it be really that complicated to let us save a dozen of our builds? (4 per gametype perhaps?)
When entering a PvP map for example you have about 1 minute to change all your rune/sigils/skills/traits/weapons according to both the map and the enemy team composition.
In WvW it would be nice to change builds when out of combat, changing to a new weapon set, from power to condi for example; with 1-2 click.
In PvE a similar system would also be welcomed.
Ranger pets can now go through WvW gates and attack people inside.
To me the major problem with this game is armor-health pool balance.
When you crit a warrior with for 1k per meteors (and you have 2600 power) and he hits you back for 5k it seems the class balance is totally broken, specially considering he has way more defense than you.
Increase the AoE limit to 10 targets for Light armor classes or do at least something that favors light armor classes.
Burning is fine, bleeding needs buff… It’s the armor-type balance that is taking a hit with this new patch.
Shouldn’t be hard to understand: Buffing armor stats for a class that has 25k+ hp is a bigger buff than doing the same to a class that has 12k hp.
i think if they release warhorn for ele I’ll ask for a refund… Sounds so disappointing, like another focus.
Last thing we need is another offhand weapon. We need dual staves, with main hand/second hand changing skills from the normal staff skills.

Yeah sure, because Lich didn’t just eat another 5 second nerf so it is now only 15 seconds with 1 pulsing stack of stab which means most classes can CC / block / invuln /escape /hide to break LoS the complete Lich transformation without any major problems.
They can buff your mobility and stability without having you 2-shot people with your auto-attack.

Gosh i hope not. Warhorns are for warriors, eles should get something like ranged-sword or dual scepters.
I think I’m just going to take out my engi… Why even bother when you’re getting nerfed constantly.

It’s at a point now where I crash 3 times each WvW raid night.
I even get an error log titled “success”. It also crashes when I quit the game.
1 year ago I didn’t crash at all, on the same system, same computer. Then bugs were gradually introduced, some re-introduced, and it got to a point where I can’t play 1 hour without a crash.

Personally I don’t hate rangers, I just dislike how the class is balanced.
Anet or NcSoft has it backwards.
You don’t give the core game to people buying the expansion, you give a rebate on the expansion to new players buying the core game. You need to reward your veteran players by having them pay less than new players for new content, not give them stuff they already have and tell them its a deal. At the same time, you need to make it cheaper to get the full game than each product separately.
The simple fact that if you reflect their attack they will melt and die in 2-3 seconds is proof that the Long bow damage is OP.
Show me another class where if you reflect their incoming damage they die. There isn’t any, because no class does this much single-target damage in a few seconds, and specially not from that range.
I have 3 character with maximum bags filled with that stuff along with dragonite ore.
I could be wrong, but it seems to me that necros and eles are going to get completely destroyed after this update with all the buffs to the other classes.
I feel class balance between medium and light armor will be in its worse state it has ever been.
They aren’t even touching useless skills so I doubt they will improve churning earth.
It’s just going to make the lockdown gameplay even worse. They shouldn’t nerf it at all. It’s the only thing squishy classes like elementalist have.

What happened with Earthen Blast in comparison to Sunspot (Earth 3 and Fire 3 On attunement swap)?
Sunspot gained an interesting buff while it used to deal an interesting amount of damage, it now gives 3 seconds of Fire Aura.
(In calculator: 464 damage; 5 targets; 180 radius Point Blank AoE)Meanwhile, Earthen Blast remains untouched, no nice stuff attached to it. The cripple duration is still the same.
(In calculator, and same power: 189 damage; 3 targets; 240 radius PBAoE)Why not give something nice to Earth when attuning? Would a Blast Finisher be too much? Or, a Dagger 2 cast (Ring of Earth). After all, a Fire Aura is pretty strong, it means they gain some stack of might, on top of some extra burning damage. Moreover, Sunspot and Earthen blast were near equivalents, but now, Earthen Blast seems to just have been forgotten.
Another forgotten Trait from the Elementalist.
Earthen blast should be a blast finisher. That would make attuning to earth have a function that would play in the class mechanic.
It’s not our job to make sure the economy has some sort of of stability, it’s Anet’s.
They should have people fixing the drop rates constantly.
I don’t understand players who are angry. Expensive or not, you buy it or you don’t; it’s just a game, not a necessity to have like electricity or food.
We didn’t get buffed. We lost our boon duration, some vitality, celestial is getting nerfed, fire and bleeding is getting nerfed for zerg stacks, chill and cripple got a huge nerf with them not affecting leap, we lost damage traits, other classes got a huge buff.
For the small buffs we got in protection we lost twice more in offense.
It’s probably NCSoft that decides, not Anet.
I don’t think the new WvW map, guild halls and pvp map should be available to people who do not buy the expansion. Seriously, it makes no sense to charge 50$ for an expansion and just give away half the content.

Relax people, if you find it too expensive just don’t buy it.
I find it expensive but not to a point where I would not buy it considering it’s pretty much the only game I play. I have high expectations however for 50$.
D/D Elementalists will probably only be viable as total bunkers (basically nothing much will change), the damage is getting nerfed too much in air and the other classes buffs are so substantial.
I expect the new ele meta to be earth/water/arcana 0-0-6-6-6 just because so much condi will be spammed you will need the cleanse on such a squishy class.
Aura build may be possible but they’ll probably be lackluster without arcana.
