Looks all interesting except the new elite is aweful. It needs a serious buff.
It will be really really good in a coordinated pvp match.
And if u dont use TS sadly is a your problem. Ts really make better evrything. In pvp or u join solo or u need it. Even battle standard can fail if u are not in TS and who is downed teleport away.
Without TS u can use it for reduce the cooldwn on crucial ability like mist form, focus 5, armor of earth and so on. Or u can reduce cooldown on DPS skills like meteor shower
So, Meteor Shower is on a 30 seconds cooldown, you will reduce it by less than the Fire Trait line would reduce it (to 23 seconds instead of 20) with an Elite. And you will have to trade that Fire trait line for Tempest on top of that anyway. How is that elite any good?
If it was like Guild Wars 1, and recharged your next skill instantly, then it would be worthy of being called an elite.
I like the new stuff but the elite is terrible.
Sure, but a skill that REQUIRES TEAMSPEAK to function correctly is insanely bad design…
They didn’t really design it, they took a GW1 elite and nerfed it by 75%, then made it AoE.

There is not much incentive to reduce the cooldown of a weapon skill, since you’ll be locked out of attunements anyway with the Overcharge.
It pretty much means we’re going to get Armor of Earth on 45 second cooldown instead of 60 second. It is the least exciting, least interesting elite in the whole game and doesn’t do any immediate damage or immediate protection. It probably won’t even have a visual effect.

This preview did nothing to alleviate my fears, and really just reinforce them.
Shouts are cool, and definitely better than necros shouts, but they don’t appear to be better than cantrips.
Overcharge is a neat idea, but really limited. With what we have been shown so far they will be nothing but interrupt bait in pvp. And i highly doubt the dps from the fire and air storms will warrant going F/A/W to F/A/T.
And of course Warhorn continues to disappoint. Skills that immobilize, pull, and stun combined with the PBAoE nature of overloads screams melee play style for this entire spec. Hell, Karl even comments specifically that it would play best with dagger. Knowing all this, on top of the data mined sword autos that were found, really just cements for me that Tempest was set to be released with sword but something stupid forced the change.
All in all this has really just drained a lot of personal hype for me, and really makes me reconsider my main. Robert Gee and mesmer are just delivering more of what i want than Karl and elementalist are right now.
Well Warhorn is certainly not going to replace staff in anything else than PvP. Unless the damage and control is extremely high and AoE. The Shouts will be good for PvE.
However if you equip Tempest you will probably want to equip Arcane as well, to reduce the recharge on overcharge. That leaves you with the forced build of Water/Tempest/Arcane in WvW, thus losing a dps line unless you’re doing PvE.
I’ still hoping for a trait that extend the range of Scepter to make it viable with Warhorn somehow as a staff replacement. Since overcharge works with fresh air I think S/W would be more interesting. Dagger in WvW is just a kamikaze thing unless you are roaming or dueling.
Considering that in PvP there can be about 1 interrupts per seconds I don’t see singularity being very viable if on top of having to camp an attunement you cannot get interrupted.
http://www.tentonhammer.com/news/guild-wars-2/guild-wars-2-tempest-revealed
An exception to this is Earth attunement, in which you’re given a break-bar that will eat a few control-skills before you’re interrupted.
Eye of the Storm! – The tempest will call the storm down on nearby allies and himself, breaking stun on anyone affected while granting superspeed.
At least draw a reference on how the devs work instead of oh mantra of distraction
We also don’t know all the traits they could easily make a trait that grants 1 stack of stability for 3-5 seconds when you use a shout and make it a grandmaster.
We already have a trait that gives us stab every 8 sec if we want to attune to earth that often. Necro can get stab every 8-10 seconds.
It is entirely possible the tempest trait line will have something similar. You know how a mesmer gets no stab but can trait a gm trait and get it every 15 sec.
This is really a weak assumption
Stab on shouts would certainly work well with all these offensive shouts.
Arcane will impact overload recharge, so most probably we will be forced to go Water/Arcane/Tempest.
The overcharge mechanic is interesting, so are the shouts.
But why would you overcharge fire if it doesn’t do as much damage as a meteor shower? I hope it does tons of damage.
If Warhorn is close-range it wont get use in WvW zerg fights much, ele is too squishy in the current meta. The skills should be aoe cast in my opinion.
The utilities are almost all offensive based, meaning they will only really work in PvE beside Eye of the Storm which is a stun break and could replace Mist form or Armor of Earth.
Armor of earth still remains our only stability.
We don’t get any of the new boons or condis.
Kinda disappointed by the new elite, GW1 had one that instantly recharged your last skill. Getting your meteor recharge down to 15 seconds doesn’t mean anything if when you swap back after overcharge you have to wait 20 seconds to get back in fire. How is it going to work with Elemental Surge condi application? Well at least it does something, contrary to all our current useless elites and there is no doubt none of the current elites will ever get used again.
Traits and special graphic effects looks amazing. As usual the GW2 art team are at their best.
The way I see it work in PvP is that if you 1v1 someone you can finish the fight with an overcharge. I don’t think it’s something you will want to use at the beginning of a fight.

That’s if for me I’m out of WvW for the week.
If Anet cannot make their game interesting to new comers without alienating their veteran players then I might as well go play something else.
Already sold by accident 2 daggers worth 150g each for some lousy silver because there is no weapon swap and they got in the wrong bag. Currently we can already change weapons, so it wouldn’t change anything, it would just make it more friendly than having to scroll at the end of your bag and getting attacked by a stealted thief with just 1 of your daggers equipped.
That sounds like a personal problem.
Also, there is a buy back option—so you can rebuy the daggers you sold for “some lousy silver.”
It was late at night, didn’t noticed and logged off. When I logged back in I presumed that was what happened. I email support but they didn’t want to give them back.
Wvw players have been ignored for years- why would any but the most gullible want to give them cash before they have done anything to improve it?
But look, they acknowledged there are issues! https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/devon-carver-on-the-future-of-world-vs-world/
A fix is coming any day now….
Yup… aaaaaany day now…
“In order to achieve that, we will continue to make tweaks to the scoring system to properly reward smart play and to make it possible for a server to prevail over superior numbers with superior tactics.”
Would have been nice if they did any of it, but that was back in June 2013, 2 years ago.
Hopefully, if we have a trait that extend the scepter range.

I work in customer service as well, and I personally do not think this is how you get things changed. You do get bad attention though. If someone demanded that people be fired simply because people didn’t like something the company put out, you and I would be out of jobs.
I will just have to respectfully agree to disagree.
People should pop over to the thread that they are looking at requesting thoughts on WvW events and put up some constructive feed back there.
Anet has shown us they don’t give two kittens about constructive criticism or discussing ideas. What they do respond to are the major kitten storms that threaten their bottom line. Look at the no white swords, the colored commander tags, and the expansion without a character slot fiascos.
If anet doesn’t want this kind of reaction then they need to show their player base that they want to communicate with us instead of ignoring us and disregarding us as the minority. Plenty of people warned them that this event was going to be a disaster, if they actually communicated with us we could have come up with suggestions on how to minimize the problems, such as confining the event to EotM and turning off glicko for the week.
Their worse reaction was when people bumped threads about stuff they promise for a year earlier, like the returned of the orbs. Then they were surprised about us telling them we were not happy that they didn’t implement the CDI ideas after all that time. So much good ideas were proposed and nothing got done beside the 3 tags colors.
When an Ele with 20 weapon skills asks for another weapon, to get 40 weapon skills, I cant help but ask, should then a Ranger be given 6 more weapons, for a total of 8 weapon swaps, you know, for the sake of this so-called “balance?”
Dude, all we want is to not be forced to open our inventory every time we want to change weapon.
It has nothing to do with balance at all.
It has everything to do with balance. Weapon swap would give access to 40 weapon skills one right after another. Cooldown would mean nothing to an ele.
No other class would have anything close to that versatility.
Therefore. Ele weapon swap = unbalance.
Same for engi.
There is only 1 class that can leave combat at will, and it’s the warrior. Mesmer and Thieve also have an easy time at it, but warrior just outrun everyone. I can’t imagine a scenario where an ele would waste all his skill, run away to exit combat (skills would be recharged by that time anyway), swap weapons and then run back. It makes no sense.
- Eles have access to 20 different, wide-variety weapon skills with a single weapon equipped.
- Engies have access to up to 30 weapon skills equipped with kits. All other class have 10 weapon skills (12 for warrior), and the only classes that can spam them are thief, and the soon to be revenant. So why would Ele for example need another set of 20 weapons skills?
When an Ele with 20 weapon skills asks for another weapon, to get 40 weapon skills, I cant help but ask, should then a Ranger be given 6 more weapons, for a total of 8 weapon swaps, you know, for the sake of this so-called “balance?”

If it doesn’t do damage at the level of warrior rampage, necro lich, do some new effect like the chronomancer, or offer a credible alternative to cantrips then I’m just going to switch class to Reaper (that looked really cool).
Still looking forward to seeing it and having some information. It can be great potentially with Scepter improvements. But the ele is in a delicate place right now with very few working builds (are still forced into water and some would argue earth with the new meta), we really need some sort of versatility in dps.
(edited by Xillllix.3485)
Isn’t it great having warrior jumping around in rampage doing twice the damage of an ele with twice more hp? Give them tornado and let eles have rampage.
Fire the guy who thought this was a good idea. And when we are at it, maybe hire some people there actually knows what they are doing.
It was Josh the marketing guy! Here is the evidence: http://tinyurl.com/ncdqkt6 xD
That’s a very obvious mistake, to have someone from content marketing making developer decisions.
I regret so much pre-ordering the expansion right now due to this broken WvW.
Nothing gives Achievement points anymore beside the daily or some Living Story content you have to repeat 100 times.
It’s just another example of badly thought out content, most my friends are capped around 14k-16k AP and making only 10 a day.
At the current pace of “no new content at all” it would take us 14 years to complete the set if we logged in 150 days a year.
The event was already questionable without all the bugs, now with 36k Killshots and 250k Icestorms (10400 per hit times 24) it’s a complete disaster.
My main problem with warhorn is that the skins are not interesting and there is basically no animation for it. The skills could be cool, for all we know.
I think now we need weapon swap. Nobody is going to drop staff for raid, it has too much range control. So what is this? A weapon we only use for PvP and roaming? Maybe if the range is 1200 I could see it function in conjunction with Scepter again if scepter had a range buff, otherwise it’s going to be a nice experiment but not really practical.
I hope we can have a sword-looking warhorn skin.
why can´t we have it?
Because it requires coding and Anet seems to be short on resources with GW2.
Guess I wont be making a legendary for the new weapon after all…
I guess we wont be using it for raid… All main hand weapon have short range. Hopefully Tempest will be a staff thing mostly.
(edited by Xillllix.3485)
In tier 2 it feels that every fight guild is either taking a break or doing GvG in OS.
So, as a player who optimistically pre-purchased two expansions, I have to say I’m a bit disappointed so far by the lack of effort to address the core issues relating to the deterioration of the game mode.
I feel exactly the same. But when it’s been said 100 times and Anet still doesn’t answer there isn’t much we can do. I also wished I didn’t pre-order HoT so swiftly.
When I look at upcoming trailers like Overwatch I’m thinking “I could play this every day competitively”, while when I think about GW2 expansion I’m thinking “I hope they also fix all the core issues with server balance and PPT system, I hope they rebalance pvp and make 5 more stronghold map, etc”.
What has kept GW2 WvW going is in my opinion the lack of decent competition, because the mode was not supported by Anet as it should have been, and we are paying for that now again with this new golem event full of bugs and exploits.
Worst thing about warhorn is it means WVWers will continue to be stuck with staff, as sceptre is kitten in large scale, and there’s too much GT AOE floating around for dagger in T1.
That’s why I’m hoping that the new ele weapon is also 1200 range. Anything else and we won’t use it for anything else than roaming.
Flood the maps…
Underwater combat!
First post I made on this forum: “Where is the GvG game mode?”
I still can’t find it, even Stronghold is evolving to be a rush the lord thing with even less actual fighting between players.
I don,t understand how they could have made such a dramatic mistake. Adding an “event” like this without even fixing the bugs (some that could have been avoided) that comes with it.
When there is a PvE update and there is bugs they fix them immediately. For WvW is seems like there is just no support at all.
My guild leader checked out the state of the T2 matchup this afternoon. I had already stated to the guild that I won’t raid till this event is over.
He called it the endless ktrain of zero fights. Actually I can’t post exactly what he posted. Forum rules prevent it. He officially cancelled all of our raids for the rest of the matchup.
Why he would he cancel them? Everyone is either in the Golem Ktrain, or in a group with people exploiting the damage bug. I don’t know what isn’t fun about that! Get out there and raid! =P
Hurg, we have raid in 20 minutes… Wished Anet would remove this golem stuff.
Idea for special event:
Place a ORB in each borderlands, adding a CTF mechanic that has been missing from WvW for 2 years.
I guess you all dont see the real exploit. They are dupping Omega’s. (Watch closely at 20 seconds and 40 seconds) I left WvW because of it. Not because they did it, but we did it. Hundreds, and i’m not exaggerating one bit. This event is one big huge friggin fail. GG Anet.
We are seeing it, I stop playing today because of it. Anet probably doesn’t have staff on weekends. Hopefully this event will be cancelled tomorrow.
Dear Anet, this update is broken as hell, please cancel the whole thing immediately.
People are going around glitching with golems and making 10k damage pressing 1 button.
I got hit with 4k ice bow 1 skills and 10k ice storm.
Check the image.
were you in a golem? if not then you would have lived, but anyways ya Ice bow bug is deadly.
No, 2 first hits and I was dead, then my mist body absorbed about 100k dmg before I was in downstate (my downstate didn’t last 1/10th of a second).
I recommend you post it in bugs also, I’ve made a thread 5 min ago about the bugs.

I only play WvW and GvG, with a bit of PvP to practice roaming and small scale fights.
As I said somewhere in another thread: it’s the only end game content the game has.
It’s pretty much the same with my friend’s list. And personally when I want to play PvE I load up “some other game” which has voice acting and a true first person view.
(edited by Xillllix.3485)
Kinda ironic that they removed most of the farming areas in the game, considering that the new PvE area is shovel farm and pacman farm land, and now WvW is golem farm, adding to EotM farm.
Maybe they should rename the game Farm Wars 2.
Since the recent patch, I have witnessed the GW2 community sink to an all-time low. I’m referring specifically to all the would-be semi-pro condition-spamming menaces turning the waterworks up to 11 about Diamond Skin.
Necromancers and engineers are, by far, the worst for this in my experience, but generally anyone with a notion to load up their PvP build with nothing but condition damage/duration and faceroll the whole competitive scene has invariably come to the forums and whined about this trait.
I didn’t make this to call you hypocrites, but I’d like to provide a sober perspective by pointing out exactly why you are the last people to be complaining about builds.
1. Elementalists have the lowest health pool and weakest armour. Even with vitality runes, the threshold an elementalist has to keep themselves immune from conditions is a maximum of about 2,500 hp. After that, they’re under 90% hp and vulnerable to conditions. If you can’t deal that much damage, then Diamond Skin is not the problem.
2. Because elementalist burst damage has been severely nerfed, forcing eles to run celestial if they want to have any combat versatility, the effective maximum threshold you have to deal with is approximately 1,800 hp before they’re under 90%.
3. Conditions are handed out like kittening candy. Even with Diamond Skin, elementalists have to run traits like Cleansing Wave and Cleansing Water, or at least one condition cleansing utility just to keep up with the application of conditions when they are under the 90% threshold.
4. The loudest QQers about this are the people who have eschewed vitality/toughness gear in favour of more condition damage and more precision. If an ele ran that set up they’d have 11k health and wouldn’t survive an angry glance from a half-decent mesmer. Frankly, you deserve to be punished for your greed and arrogance.Additionally, many threads complaining about this trait have arguments along the lines of “elementalists are OP now”. I’d like to clarify what the actual situation is. Every class is OP now. It just so happens that a significant cross-section of the player base that is more skilled than you are really enjoys playing elementalist because it is the most engaging class. Because every class is OP, they can go back to their elementalist and be on a more even playing field than ever before. You’re getting stomped as much as you would if elementalists weren’t in the game, it’s just that more of the people stomping you are on their eles than they have been at any point since the game came out.
In closing, I heartily suggest that you learn how to play.
Please feel free to respond with your own thoughts.
Regards,
An ele
You got it all right there. Thanks.
Ideas for other WvW “special events?”
Don’t do them unless you’re willing to put in the work it requires to permanently improve WvW instead of ruining it.
I’m not very good at this game and it’s hard enough trying to fight all the good players running around without getting rushed by a 20-man golem zerg. ANet plz nerf…………………
This deserve a sticky. Sorry man you have to suffer because of some bad decision Anet made and their complete lack of improvement into WvW for the last 3 years.
If it makes you feel any better we’re all in the same boat of being super disappointed, and it doesn’t look good for the expansion if they keep trolling WvW with meaningless and buggy content.
Great choice of music.
“You are the exception.” Well I guess I’m also THE exception. What a stupid comment…
They have to wake up. WvW is the ONLY endgame content since the game was released. Now that endgame content has been turned to kitten for a week.
Almost everyone I know is only doing only WvW with a bit of PvP.
They’re just flushing all the badges out of the economy.
That’s the only explanation I can see: soon they will announce they are removing badges of will offer something new for them.
They could have just said “spend all your wvw badges by X date because they’re going away”
Ya but now they can pretend something is happening in WvW that isn’t exactly the same as it was 2 years ago. Ah well, I’m gonna stop complaining and will level up my character in ESO this week. A new WvW area is coming out in that game soon, not that it’s without it’s share of problems either.

Are WvW forum players even having fun playing this game? Come on guys, all these silly golems everywhere, don’t you find it hilarious? Ok, PPT is a nightmare, but I can live a week without PPT, can’t you? In addition, the price of golems will rise, and you won’t see many golems for a while after this. Everybody wins.
It’s because WvW needs so much more right now than a golem rush. It needs a complete overhaul. We’ve been waiting 2 years for something to be done to improve WvW.
