The lack of waypoint seems like an important issue. After all, I’ve seen WvW in other games completely fail because there is too much running around before getting into a fight or when dying.
You need to be able to get back into the action in less than 2 minutes.
Strange, when a warrior with twice more hp hits me for 7-10k I don’t feel OP at all.
only way a warrior hits a cele D/D ele that hard is you have a lot of vuln stacks + they used a burst skill/landed 100b in which case you should be cleansing or l2 dodge their easily telegraphed burst skills….. cele DD ele should EASILY beat any time of warrior that outs right now… they are by far one of the easiest classes to 1v1 as an ele..
I’m just stating the obvious, the ele is balanced already as much as it could be. I actually won a 1v2 on my first pvp match as a warrior just by rampaging rolling my face on the keyboard (yes I couldn’t believe it how easy it was), something you simply cannot do on the ele where you need to land all your combos perfectly and avoid all bursts. Ele skills are even more telegraphed than warrior skills.
My opinion is that Specializations is a FAIL.
By having Trait lines and points we could have so many different builts.
e.g. (3-4-4-3-0, 6-6-2-0-0, 3-3-3-3-2 etc)Even if many compinations were a “mistake” to use… We had the option to do it. It was OUR way of playing. And instead of giving us more… you limit us?

I agree with you, It’s the third time a specific build I was running becomes impossible to keep playing. THis time it’s because they’ve removed condi duration and boon duration in pvp and because it required 4 trait lines.
They should have fixed the lines, added 4 points to spend, and not force people into 3 lines. Now with an extra line you will feel really limited in choices because you won’t even be able to choose half your trait lines.
As an elementalist, the core mechanic of our class (lingering elements) was nerfed because of the boon duration removal then and rendered useless because it cant work with 5 lines anymore.

A weapon that only work with a specific set of trait is not fine. We need scepter to work without fresh air, the auto attacks need fix/range increases, Dragon tooth needs to be ground target-able or way faster.
If Anet had build templates then it wouldn’t take 1 minute for people to change their build at the beginning of a match, and they could reduce the warm-up time to 10 seconds or something.
It is still unclear to me what we are getting in this expansion besides the PvE map we’ve seen in the first betas, 2 guild halls, the revenant class and elite professions.
Are the new WvW map and PvP map part of the expansion? Is there new dungeons or hardcore group content? new fractals? new guild missions? more stronghold maps? new expansion-exclusive features?
I pre-purchased but I am a little worried about what we’re going to get, specially since the WvW map may be free to everyone (and WvW is all that I do) and the elite profession for my main class seems really weak (Tempest).
Did anyone see if anything was done to the WvW achievements in the test of the new map or was it the same game build?

Honestly Anet needs to backtrack on WvW achievements, and give bunch of points for what people have accomplished over the last years in compensation to the lack of possible achievements..

This is a new WvW map, not a karma farm map. Yes people will defend. I’m in a fight guild too and we’re looking forward to this new map.
If you’re fight guild cannot adapt itself to a varied terrain than maybe you should just go to EBG. Anyway the problem is the same as in the first year the game was released: They are removing content again (Alpine map) instead on working on a better implementation of all the maps.

They need to do something about build variety. We need to be able to drop the water/earth/arcane lines and stay alive in competitive context.
If we cant run fire/air/tempest then why are we even excited for an expansion?

I think the upcoming beta test will be an opportunity to tell them what needs fixing. If Scepter/Warhorn doesn’t work you can be sure many elementalists will be asking for improvements.

I was shocked recently when I bought a game that worked perfectly at maximum settings, as my Guild Wars 2 performance has plummeted even at minimum settings.
Something just isn’t right, it’s like the bug where the interface was eating half the fps.
I have all the same problems on Maverick with a 2010 iMac. Guild Wars 2 often force restart my computer on crashes and when I exit.
They should contact a company like Aspyr to resolve these issues.
There has been a massive performance drop on mac since the last patch and so far we’ve haven’t had any support.
Are there plan to improve things?
I don’t know with the last patch my fps went way down. It’s like a 40% performance decrease.

Yes my fps in 1400p went from 35 to less than 20 on mac, and that’s with lower settings.
I don’t know what their Mac team is doing but I hope they are working on a fix else I’ll ask for a refund when the expansion hits.
They need a campaign system with a guesting system, like ESO has. Basically you would have a server, but if your server is full you can guest on a server of the same alliance with a loot penalty and lack of reward, just for fights. You can only guest on 1 server per week. (so you have a guest server and a home server)
The only reason EotM is a useless Karma train is because they have removed it from the PPT score and made the walls non-upgradable.
In a perfect world, that might work….but, this isn’t a perfect world. We’ve had guesting before, and enemies would guest to other servers on their accounts to gain information, and generally muck things up…throwing troll siege, wasting supplies, destroying golems….much like they do with cheap alt accounts now.
What would be helpful is a system which only allows a percentage maximum overage of players instead of the outnumbered buff. Outnumbered only works if you have enough players on to actually fight. If a server only has 20-30 players across all borderlands at a given time, they cannot possibly fight and win against two 20+ man zergs on each map. We need a better balanced system.
2 things:
1- In ESO you can only guest on servers of the same alliances, you will have no WvW xp and I believe no rewards, but you will not be turning the tides of a fight by guesting to an opposite faction. Basically the server population is public (in real time), and you can guest on a lower population server (called campaign) where your alliance is losing. ESO has other gameplay problems (map is too big) but for the server system they got it right. You never have to wait in queue and the server populations are pretty much equal.
2- I’ve been proposing a system to make the losing servers catch-up. It’s really simple: 1ppk (point per kill) for the top server, 2ppk for the second server and 3ppk for the losing server. It would make fight guilds even more important and contribute in their own way.
Outnumbered buff has a problem in terms that its a passive buff, what we need is an active solution that rewards playing. That was the intent of the ORB before they removed it.
If you’re happy where you are and T1/2 are happy where they are why do you care at all then. Why would you want T1/2 to take one for the team and change the status quo that as you say, you prefer to be.
Also, honestly if you guys think there are enough OCX players to spread to 24 servers while maintaining any semblance of WvW at all then I have a bridge to sell to you.
I didn’t say where I am in T4 is perfect now, and no additional server will ever grow to the size of current T1 servers under the system. Regardless of whether the GvG guild moves was planned yesterday, or two years ago (an irrelevant point), T3 is likely to fill up. Population will then overflow into T4, and continue to cascade creating a fairly stable population on as many servers as the WvW population can support.
Is it perfect? No. Is it better than the current system? I think so. Is it better than most of the systems otherwise suggested that would require a total restructuring of core components of the game? I think so.
“Population” yes, but only for peak timezones. You can have map ques on all maps during primetime and have a ghost town a few hours later. That does nothing to solve the actual problem of " coverage wars". Every player logging in regardless of time they have available to play should have players to play with and against. Anything less than that is a broken system. Making it so the only oceanic player on a server is unable to move somewhere to play with other oceanic players only further breaks the game rather than repairs it. That isn’t better at all for every new player coming in to that and leaving due to it.
They already restructured core components of the game when they went mega server, now they have to restructure this due to what they broke.
They did test this. It’s called EotM. Out of curiosity, what makes you think putting WvW on the same system as EotM wouldn’t turn it into the same kind of kittenshow?

This map should replace or add to EOTM and leave the existing borderland maps.

What they need is to remove the server system from EotM and bring it to the borderland rotation with the 2 other maps. This way we have 4 different WvW maps instead of 2.
Looks really bad right now, but I guess that’s why there is a beta test next week. We will be able to test it and give them feedback.
lol Like bunker guards, engies or warriors cannot do the same.
The only difference is that we only have that bunker build that is really viable, else when we go with offensive stats we get one shot down (we still do if other classes timed it right instead of just spamming their skills). Other classes have the privilege of being able to run something else than celestial. They also have elite skills.
Cant say I agree with the guardian part. I feel like guards are fine maybe a bit too weak if they don’t rely on broken fire damage.
Guard is as OP as mesmer right now. They can do 15k with a single burst from 1200 range (with JI). On guard I can kill the Heavy golem in 2-3 seconds, on the ele it takes at least twice as long. And the guard has much more defenses while being able to use marauders amulet.

Same on mac. Massive fps drop (like 50% less fps at 1440p).
1440p doesn’t work on mac anymore at playable framerate. Anet broke something in the last patch. Same issues here.
Last patch kinda messed up the graphical engine.

I’ve been proposing a 4 map solution for a while. I don’t see why we need 3 copies of the same map.
Anet needs to find a new system that has more variety and get EotM also in the PPT rotation with upgradable walls/gates.
End the Karma farm, bring variety, merge servers into alliances and create a flexible overflow system, improve involvement in score, make it so lower servers can catch up with PPK and change the PPT system.
Means that you died from condi while in mist form.
Reaching near 100,000 views and Anet still not telling us anything.
World 3 and 4 should be part of the expansion since they stopped doing bi-weekly living story updates.

LOL that does make the Tempest look weak. But its a spec all around support, whereas the Dragonhunter is a solo spec.
That’s a polite way to say it… His 2 first 2 overloads fail because they forgot to add stability to overloads (they do no damage anyway), he doesn’t use the crappy elite because it’s useless, and all the warhorn skills do super low damage and fail to protect him.
In the guardian video he removes half Svanir hp in 1 second while being invul and is immune to all the interrupts.

Sounds like a new beginning for some end game content, but there is no talking of new fractals. There is a limit of how much you can recycle material just by making a nice backpiece skin. All of this but no new fractals?

I used to play the game in 1440p at 35 fps, not I’m getting at most 20 fps.

You don’t believe you would have gotten 1200-ranged sword skills, do you? You would likely see a couple of 900-ranged attacks, but the AAs would almost certainly be short melee range or 300.
Revenant hammer is 1200 range, so I don’t see why not. The Elementalist could raise is sword in a storm calling gesture and a bolt could fall from the sky on the blade and be redirected towards enemies.
After reading all 10 pages again, I now have some understanding of why the Dev’s could make such poor decisions. You folks have really no clue what you want and it shows in what you ask for. It’s very simple, WvW should have Tiers with descending map population caps. Because the map Q’s have always been the end all, be all of balancing. There should be no server population caps at all. There should be no Transfer cost either. Even if there was, it should be a flat price. Boom… now each player can choose the experience that fits them best. The World communities can freely balance themselves out across the time zones too.
The one thing that is for certain is that the more the dev’s interfere with WvW, the more they muck it up. Even after the dev’s came into WvW during Seasons, they made videos about what they thought should change. Most of the WvW players I know watched the videos and said “wut?”. As in, how could you play WvW and come away from the experience with such notions???? The dev’s just don’t get us in WvW at all. If they did, it would show, because they’d be in WvW daily too!
Once in a while one of the dev tweak a few WvW things when it’s getting out of control but it doesn’t seem like they have a WvW team.
The new map looks pretty but the implementation will just be a copy-paste of the same map (3 copies) because they don’t have anyone working on a new system that would use the current 4 maps together. We will end up with a removed map, broken karma train EotM, same old EBG, and 1 new map, instead of having 4 fully different maps.
I fail to see the utility of fresh air now that you can AoE burn for 2-3k ticks. Fire just seems like a better line to me, except for the mobility nerf.

When the nerf comes, the d/d ele tears will be delicious.
There is not much left to nerf with the ele. Berserker is already nonviable and we’ve been cornered into 1-2 bunker builds that can keep us alive. Our might blasting has been nerfed too, mist form healing, our mobility in certain builds and RTL, our elites are kitten. If they nerf celestial then everyone will just drop the class and play something else.
You can killshot an ele in half the time it takes to cast a churning earth and the churning earth still does about 4 times less damage.

Here’s an idea for how they could appease us, so I can think positively about this for a change. Currently, most of the elite specs don’t seem to have much to do with the expansions storyline, the exceptions being the likely Glint Rev spec and quite probably druid. Before we had any info, I think myself and a lot of others expected a Zephyrite Ele elite spec, because it would go along really well with the HoT story. They’ve told us that there are more elite specs coming, but not how soon – why bother waiting for another expansion though? It’s quite probable that another elite spec could roll out in a matter of months rather than years, and it could come along with further zephyrite involvement in the story. From the sounds of it, they intended to do something similar with new legendaries. According to them, they’ve played around a lot (hopelessly perhaps, but we shall see) with our elite spec, and did mess around with sword. That makes it quite possible that a lot of the work is there, and quite easily salvageable, particularly since whole new game mechanics wouldn’t likely be necessary. After HoT releases, they could focus a lot more on new elite specs with the intention of mending ties with the community over what we don’t like or don’t need.
They’re not going to change the Warhorn to make it a range weapon even if they suddenly decided to listen to the community.
Not to be overly negative, but you do realize that we will be stuck with the same staff skills and cantrips (with 1 shout perhaps in some builds) until they make a second expansion? The only difference will be the overload which does less damage than a rotation and the new elite that barely does anything at all.
For the first 2 months it may be cool to have a new weapon, but everyone will go back to staff soon after and it’s going to be the same game as it is now, because the new stuff just isn’t as interesting as it should be for an expansion of that price.

4.1 dmg mod with berserk and pact runes (not marauder) amulet ele

- Crit (same as above) 10.8k
- Max vuln and max might crit 17.8k
Now it would take 2x as long to cast as killshot and have a 20 second +5 sec on ALL air abilities lockout
Mesmer pull that kitten with shatter combos and you cant even see that coming….
Okay rework on it if that’s too much: Deals 3.5 mod and +.1 for each buff on the enemy. Reduce cast to 2s
For the cost benefit of losing an attune for 20 seconds you have to have huge gains from it, that’s the entire reason why tempest is trash right now. The damage he was doing on stream was with a MARAUDER amulet…
Exactly, and Marauder is not viable in anything slightly competitive, but to make the damage seem impressive he had to replace the Celestial amulet everyone is running. It’s basically going to tick (only in super close range btw) a damage about twice lower (something like 800 on crit) than a hammer warrior auto-attack. And on top of that it doesn’t even have a trait that gives it stability… lol
Like, why is it even called elite specialization again? Are they supposed to be scared of the visual effects and not attack you?
5 second channels in close range with bo innate stability on the lowest armour,lowest HP class in the game. Wtf were they thinking?
It’s going to be strange watching all the eles who bought the expansion get owned in duels by eles who are not using tempest.
I guess when it comes to our class “Elite” means “super risky and not rewarding class mechanic with low chance of success”.
You know I used to think thieves were OP until I played one. Same with eles.
Learn to play the class and you’ll learn to counter it. The ele is full of weaknesses, it’s one of the easiest class to kill if you hit it at the right moment.
Restarting the game fixed it, must be a memory leak.
Latest error gotten while doing living story achievements. Occurred just before the story ended so no achievements earned. Would be awesome if someone from Anet would respond again. These crashes didn’t used to happen before the EOTM patch.
What EotM patch?
Put every graphical settings to the minimum and wait until Anet fixes it (could take years).
