Anyone who says “bring back the Orbs” definitely doesn’t remember (or never knew in the first place) why they were removed to begin with.
Yes I do. Anet promised it would be back once they could prevent the hacking. Don’t tell me that after 3 years they still can’t prevent hacking.
It’s kind of strange. On one side we can see the improvements in Stronghold, and they really do help with the flow… on the other the class balance is broken since the new trait system and the fighting isn’t as enjoyable as it used to be.
The way you control Ventari tablet feels really annoying and totally clunky. Like really clunky.
Yes it should be instant. By the time you move it somewhere or activate a skill some other classes do 15-20k damage.
It’s kind of hard to test the revenant when mesmers are 1-shotting everyone at your spawn. Basically we are testing a class in a completely unbalanced environment.
I can tell you one thing: if the revenant is supposed to be balanced, it is by far the hardest class to play. By the time I do any damage on a mesmer (with 2500 power I can barely hit above 2k), if I am lucky, he will have done over 22k and will be spiking me.
Skills feel really slow, and the class damage feels really weak.
The server system has to be changed. Anet will have to come to that conclusion eventually. There is so many better alternatives that other games are using.

I really don’t understand the idea behind removing a map and having 3 copies of a new map.
First of all the new map has too much ground to cover for the current server population. Second of all, 3 version of the same map just seems like a less than ideal solution to the WvW server balance problem.
I would recommend the following:
1- Remove EotM from it’s current karma farm system
2- Have 4 WvW maps: EBG, Alpine BL, Desert BL, EotM
3- Bring back the Orb to the Alpine BL map, make it so that a server that has the Orb for over 24 hours gain control of the citadel.
4- Make it so that Server are all merged on an 3-Alliances based system. Create overflows every week according to the world population of the previous week, let people have a main overflow, and guest to other overflows when their overflow is full, with a penalty to XP or loot.
5- Make the matches best out of 7 days, with a winner and reward every daily reset. For example if servers are tied 2-2-2 the last day would be a really intense fight to win. Each day should be also divided in smaller four-hours long matches (without keep upgrade resetting); In case of a draw the server with the most player kills should win.
6- Every map should have a mechanic that has repercussions on another map.
A new system similar to what I propose would guarantee both map variety, server balance, player involvement in the scoring mechanic and a fight intensity that increase as the week progresses.
That said, everything about the new map looks amazing.

Yup, this is the way it works, half the servers are empty most of the time, some are just always empty. If you want to actually play the game you have to get an auto-clicker to manage to join Tier 1 or 2 and give Anet more money because they won’t fix their server system.
It would have been fine if they were a little more careful with balance and had fixed some of the most useless skills, or added new ones along with new traits.
Seems to me like Anet doesn’t have the resources to develop and expansion and balance the game at the same time.
If theywant to consider GW2 PvP as an eSport they have to be much more attentive to class unbalance and be much more careful about big changes.
The new trait system was way more important to test over and over than a new WvW map where people just run around looking at stuff.
Actually weapon swap would be a good thing for all classes. All they need to do is put a longer cooldown on classes like the elementalist, the revenant and the engi.
It would certainly help when roaming to be able to switch to d/d if a thief backstab you from nowhere, or swap to staff if you come face to face with a zerg.
It could be on a 30-45 seconds cooldown.
Found another bug related to Lightning Rod!
If 2 eles that are fighting each other both have Lightning Rod traits, and one gets disabled and uses their Shocking Aura, and the other ele also has their Shocking Aura up, when the other ele attacks the still disabled ele, Lightning Rod will proc 10+ times (Counted 13 by the screenshots) on both eles, being able to do MASSIVE damage to each other. It was quite funny seeing that happen but let’s prevent us from nuking the ever living crap out of each other! xD (Skip to about 3:58 if you want to get past the jargon of reproducing the bug) Also Glen, if you get to adding this to the bug forum topic can the video link also be added to that description bug for clarification? Considering that I bought the expansion to access the beta and that you’ve sent me an invitation to a client I cannot even use it is quite disappointing. You should have mentioned when selling the pre-orders that the beta trials were on windows only.
Anyway,
On Mac Guild Wars 2 has been crashing every 30 minutes or so in WvW for almost a year (before the last “feature patch” it used to be stable). It’s quite frustrating.
The reason staff has no animations is because of bad planning:
In an old beta video the skills worked like guild wars 1, where you could move them on your skillbar. You could have Phoenix along with Meteor. They just had a generic animation for testing.
Then they decided to do weapons types instead, but didn’t take the time to make the proper animations for each weapons.
I do not think a company like Blizzard would have made that mistake.
WvW is dying because Anet has nobody taking care of it.
Achievements are impossible, everyone is maxed out with guards stacks, so there is no long-term progression. The utility and food cost more than the gold you make. There is not even a good reward for winning a week.
The PPT system is so meaningless that over half the guilds just want to fight. Mistakes like the siege disabler didn’t help. If it’s already meaningless to win, don’t make it annoying as well.
The only thing holding WvW together is the community of guilds, something that Anet isn’t even responsible for. Last night prime time we had 3 people in EBG, yet the server is listed as “high population”.
It doesn’t help that now a lot of classes are unbalanced and that we’ve had no WvW content since launch, and no content at all in the last 6 months.
I guess the expansion is all we can hope for now.
They could fix the PPT system, that is only an abstract representation of server population.
They could change the outdated server system, which is a remnant of how technology was limited in the1990s. They just have to imitate other solutions, like in ESO, where there is 3 alliances and an amazing guesting system.
But nooooooo, Golem Rush everyone!
They just need to rebalance the entire game, all the skills and all the traits.
You may want to check out the July 23rd patch notes…cuz that’s prettying what they just did, lol.

Happened to me a few times. I had divinity runes on 5 characters when Anet decided to make them useless.
PvP balance is off the chart but they fixed that?! wow.
1- Mesmers
2- Guardians
3- Warriors
4- Engis
5- Rangers
6- Eles
7- Necros
And no I’m not biased, even if I main ele I have played the other classes. I won a 1v2 with my war on my second match ever, 1-shot people on my guard and pewpewed people to death with my ranger while eating a sandwich.
If this is eSport it’s the most unbalanced eSport I have ever seen. This last balance patch was in my opinion a complete disaster in terms of class balance. It’s like Anet implemented a new trait system but didn’t rebalanced the skills in consequence, the end result being a game that is completely frustrating to play.
What I mean is that for today’s WvW stress test you get invited to a download link where there is only a windows version available.
It would have been nice to have a Mac beta as well for the WvW Stress Test.
Will you be testing the Mac version at some point? There’s been so much bugs on Mac with the regular game it might be worth having Mac tests for the expansion.

The most dissapointing is that every time I see a new or improved elite from Engi or Guard it makes me think about the absolutely useless elites for elementalist. Other than that the balance got pretty bad because it doesn’t reward complex combos and playing anymore.
Crashed 3 times last night. Fix your mac version of the game please.
Well, no power build can pressure as much as condi builds while being viable. A typical power build would walk in, burst and hope for AA crits. If the burst was somewhat blocked/dodged/interrupted a typical power user would activate a blocking ability and try to run away.
Most condi builds spew conditions while running … so that’s that. On top of having sick survival. Conditions are unblockable for protections like Endure Pain and correct me if I’m wrong but Protection isn’t really affecting condi damage.
It has really low counter play. Every condi cleanse ability has huge cooldown while the condi application has half that. Unless you run some shouter build with trooper runes
P.S: Not to mention that condi duel is super uninteresting to watch. Why do people watch League of Legends? Most of the damage is done close-up and its fun to watch animations with weight on them. kitten is caltrop dodge that kills? <o>
If condi ends up becoming a thing, it will be like a huge middle finger to all animators that ever worked at arena net. Just my 2 cents.

Condi builds should be as viable as Power builds.
No it shouldn’t. Condis are passive, you just stack them up and numbers win for you instead of skill. MMOs where passive skills are too strong are the most boring ones to play and are more unbalanced (for example ESO, where a single guy can take out a whole zerg).
Power skills requires your opponent to dodge every single burst and promotes active gameplay which relies on reflexes and skill.
What I like about Scepter is that Dragon Tooth is completely unless your foe is immob of knockdown for 3 seconds. Makes the combat feel really dynamic. /sarcasm
No seriously, scepter need a range increase to be viable in WvW.
Then it’s just a question of fixing the useless auto attacks, water skills and improving Dragon Tooth.

I don’t think eles are in a good place, I’ve been playing my guards and made a warrior, both these classes are much more rewarding for much less effort.
I always tell new people to start off with a warrior or guardian (esp warrior)…b.c they are very simple to play and pay off with easy results…I don’t find that rewarding though and rather boring to play(IMO), which is why I haven’t touched either of them for over a month….to each his own =S…
I started to play my guard and war just recently after the patch, after getting bursted one too many times. What I can say is that on war or guard:
1- I don’t get bursted down even if I am terrible at those classes
2- I get almost as many kills, roughly
3- I can still burst people down on guard, I do amazing damage on war (won 1v2 on war with rampage)
4- I realize that eles have their strength obviously, but specially when they bunker up.
I don’t think they care… look at our elites.

Comparing rampage to the class with the worse elites:
The problem isnt Rampage, it’s classes like the elementalists that have no useful elites when other classes all have amazing elites.
Is rampaged OP? compared to the elementalists elites hell yeah. In my second pvp match on a brand new warrior I never played I won a 1v2 with Rampage. Compare that with tornado, where the most you can hope for is a knockdown.
Basically, rampage isn’t the problem, it’s the lackluster elementalist elite that is.
TL;DR – SAB’s on hold because of changes made to the engine and focus on the expansion.

I just won my first 1v2 in a long time (from start to finish, without anyone helping) on a class I never played before today: used rampage on Warrior, randomly pressed all they keys, got 2 downs and spiked them both.
Before that yesterday I played my old guardian I didn’t touch in 1 year, used a meta battle build, after 1 hour I could 1-shot people. Barely died.
I could say I tried engi, but 1-shotting people pressing 1 button using grenade barrage was to low to go for me after 1 match.
Meanwhile, a mesmer shatter spike is 18k, a thief backstab and heartseeker combo gets you down in a second.
On my elementalist, with over 4000 hours of experience, I still have to dodge like crazy, blast might and pull off crazy combo to get similar results, and the elites are still useless. If there is one lass that doesn’t need nerfing right now it’s the elementalist. For the risk factor the reward level is well below what it should be.
Simple question:
Would the GvG community agree to not use the current Engi burst exploit in GvGs?
I think that is a new record against my mesmer, who admittedly has only got 2250 armor so is a bit squishy.
To do any kind of damage similar to other classes 2250 is pretty much the maximum armor an elementalist can have. In my opinion this latest update is a disaster from a class balance perspective.
Even if I spend over 4000 hours on my elementalist and I get downs just as easily and with less risks by running a prototype guardian build from Meta battle and rolling my face on the keyboard. And I have no clue how to play it properly.
Basically risk/reward is gone from this game when it comes to balancing.
Might as well remove the elementalist from the game with these ideas.
Nothing about the ele is OP beside the burning on d/d. All the OP stuff is from other classes.
I guess all the new skins, the revenant and new trait lines.
With guild halls, stronghold and a new WvW map there is some interesting stuff for the competitive community. Would still be great if we had more stronghold maps.
I don’t understand what you guys are complaining about. I literally 1-shot or 2-shot everything in every -80 level zones with a full ascended armor. Enemies would be 200% tougher and the game would still be too easy for my taste.

It makes burning on staff sorta function. It’s so low compared to d/d that it makes you realize how much Staff needs improvements.
It’s a useless grandmaster trait considering how bad it is comparing to the 2 other ones.

That’s the sad thing isn’kitten Anet doesn’t do proper testing, people find something to exploit, and the next thing everyone is running the exploit thus ruining the game for everyone.
Guardians, mesmers and engis are the most broken OP classes at the moment. Anet better do something.
Guardian burst with Judge Intervention is completely broken. I got bursted from 100 to 0% at the beginning of a game before I even had time to react.
Everyone is so scared of stealth bursts now that they pop their invulnerability before the fight starts.
This update has been 1 step forward and 5 steps backward for competitive play.
