I just wanted to illustrate the point that there is just no sense of progression at all with rank rewards (contrary to achievement chests for example).

It’s obviously not a surprise, it was expected after all.
But still I must hallucinate: is this a joke?

Impossible achievements in WvW but no achievements at all for reaching rank 1000. A title for playing bletcher’s bluff but no title for 1000 WvW ranks.

Random chest rewards, and nothing to rewards effort. These should scale with rank, or we should have special chests at specific rank numbers.

Not that I care anymore, but you have to admit it’s totally broken.

Each episode can’t have a plot twist or cliffhanger, or they would lose impact and shock factor on the player.

Breaking Bad did have a plot twist at every episode… And the shock factor only went high.

@Mark Katzbach you appear to have clicked on the WvW discussion page by accident or is your pc “working as intended”?. Maybe you can get the WvW dev team to aslo click on this page by mistake aswell! But all jokes aside dead threads are dead threads if you wanna necro, just go roll the class :p

Necroing dead threads does two things, three if there’s a red post in them.

1. It brings up an issue that isn’t resolved to the players satisfaction
2. It shows that the issue hasn’t been resolved in a long time
3. If there’s a red post that recognizes the issue is being looked at then it begs the question why the issue hasn’t been resolved

I wonder if anyone at Anet is:
1) not allowed to talk about WvW development by upper management directive.
2) not working on WvW development so can’t talk about it.
3) all of the above

I hope there’s some middle ground where players can be more involved in the development of WvW and that the players will feel that WvW is core to GW2

Well I don’t want to sound negative, but personally until they give us a tiny tiny tiny glimpse of what they’ve been working on for in the last 12 months I won’t be able to “believe”.

Being totally secretive it the worse thing you can do after promising regular updates every 2 weeks. A full year and not a single screenshot was shown!

Just to clarify, many came to the conclusion that there were no WvW development team anymore it is only because for almost a year we heard nothing from you guys on promises updates , like the borderlands Orbs coming back differently. It’s only natural that we started to believe that you are working on another project when you’ve been silent for such a long time.

Finally, some in the community had the impression that bumping old threads were the only way to make their points across (a 1-year-old thread is an old thread to bump indeed, but 1 year is also a long time to wait) and perhaps they were right, as it seems we wouldn’t even be having this conversation if they had not done so.

In Guild Wars 1 an elementalist would specialize in only 1 element at the time, but there were many skills combination that would work.

In comparison, in Guild Wars 2 you have to swap through every element every 2 seconds and if you do not run cantrips it’s suicide, therefore there is only 1 optimal build with a few trait variants that make little difference.

Congrats on ANet finding the worst possible way to handle necro’ing. If it is that much of a problem for ANet, they should simply remove replies to 30+ day old threads and stop threatening their user base.

My thoughts exactly. If they want the forum to function in a specific way it’s a common feature of forums to archive old threads automatically.

We don’t have to take the blame for asking about the status of what the developers promised a year ago. These were actually good threads with good suggestions; deleting what little remains of communication between the dev and us is a drastic choice.

It is usually people that have been complaning for quite some time that do necro the threads to “make a point” after all.

Agreed on the this part, a point was made: lots of unfulfilled promises.
They can dislike the image that this projects, but starting making rules about what can be replied to and cannot be replied to isn’t the good way to go about it.

When does a thread become a necroed thread anyway? Is 5 months and 30 days OK but 6 months and 1 day NOT OK? It makes no sense from an ethical perspective to allow one and not the other.

^ Maybe the issue is that during testing people loved EOTM but more or less as soon as it was released people were whining like mad about how much it sucked and how it wasn’t WvW and so on?
Maybe that made them decide against player-testing due to the fact that it apparently didn’t give a correct image about what people actually wanted.

Not really, most people love EOTM design and they are just disappointed because it doesn’t count for normal WvW PPT, therefore having no objective to pursue the “Karma train” became the objective.

There’s nothing constructive about necro-ing old threads en masse to make some point about the lack of communication. It’s not going to help. If you are fed up to the point where you’re being a kitten about it, stop playing the game. Uninstall. Move on with your life. Many have already. Follow their example.

So you think it’s ok to delete the post or give an infraction to someone because they wondered why 1 year after being told “The orbs are coming back” they haven’t?

I understand what devon said about spreading out the playerbase, I agree. Only t1 would have enough population to spread over 5 maps. But what you should do is make a rotation. Create a new map and have it rotate with eternal bl.

We shouldn’t have duplicated borderlands maps. We could have 3 different maps instead.

We live in a world where people do not make the distinction between an electronic beat and a real percussion player, nor do they appreciate the importance of real artists.

They think artistic appreciation has to do with taste and they do not realize that the recognition of talent is not a question of taste but of cultural knowledge.

Considering that, there is nothing to be surprised about when people enjoy pre-programmed macros more than a real musician trying to play a sampled instrument on a keyboard, in a game.

We need more things to use them on or to atleast be able to sell them. Myself and tons and tons of other people have gotten to the point we just destroy them. They take up inventory space.

Without giving any specifics, I’d highly recommend you change that strategy. There are things coming soon that will give you lots to spend it on.

It’s been 8 months. If we had keep the Ascended materials all that time we would have filled our inventory bank 10 times over.

I’ll make a couple of points here to hopefully clarify this issue.

All of those things being true, we absolutely want to make new maps for WvW and when we have them ready to talk about and show off, believe me we will. It’s very important to us that when we do release a new WvW map it is a clear example of what we think the ideal WvW map would be.

So, coming back to this a month later, people are enjoying the Living Season 2, but competitive players are left without anything new to do. Are you working on new maps ?

I think at this point we do not expect perfection, but just something to vary the gameplay. We’ve been stuck in the same matchups for over a month and didn’t get any WvW update since the EOTM release.

The titles and achievement point values for WvW play are absolutely out of character with the rest of the game and we will be addressing that. What form that will take specifically I am not entirely sure.

Megaservers only in PvE is the perfect example of something that has been half-done.

They absolutely needed to come up with a better system for WvW since the release of EOTM. Instead they gave up on it and decided to focus all their resources on PvE.

Yeah I hate it, it’s a lousy system.

Before you could change your PvP armor look for free. Now you have to lose 20+ gold just to change how your set looks.

Use a pure DPS build and wreck all the low level people.

Before the nerf you could cast armor of earth, use other stun breakers, use your elite and heal while in it.

They nerfed those 4 things in a snap without think 1 seconds about all the gameplay combos they would break and ruin. Even a year after it playing an ele isn’t as fun as it used to be.

PPT would be interesting if it wasn’t a totally broken mechanic. Right now it is only a measure of coverage.

I see 2 problems:

1: Total lack of commitment to WvW and GvG from Anet / Ncsoft
2: No other game released recently has fighting mechanics as interesting as Guild Wars 2 and is available for both Pc and Mac (ESO came very close, it is better than GW2 in many aspects, but zerg battles are often a mess)

So we’re stuck with a gamemode of which the development is stalled, until some other game comes and save the day.

GvG in Obsidian Sanctum are have become boring because the ground is flat and there are no obstacles to create a sense of variety in the gameplay or to add complexity the strategy. It could be a square box with no textures and it wouldn’t be less interesting as an arena.

A real GvG map (like we had in Guild Wars 1) has high and low ground, rocks, pillars, etc.

There is surely another game developer looking at this and preparing to launch a MMO with proper GvG. I don’t think Anet cares at all about GvG.

Hi,
In this thread I would like to illustrate how Anet’s balancing has had some unforeseen negative impact on the gameplay with just one example related to my main class.

Critical damage nerfed by 10% + nerf on equipment make it around 25%-40% nerf to critical damage.

Immediate consequences:
For the elementalist: Celestial and runes of divinity is broken, best trait line is much less effective

Globally:
The meta has shifted completely toward condition damage, entire guilds are running cnd dmg only builds.

This is somewhat tolerable even if it makes the game less fun to play. However add the following elementalist nerf into the equation:

- Mist form, removed the ability to heal, cure conditions or use utilities while in mist form

And the result you have is a complete game balancing failure.
Case example from yesterday:
Zerg fight, train rushes at me, I’m at full HP…. I use Mist Form and move away (invulnerability skill).
For the next 3 seconds I am stuck in Mist form as my health is drained away by necro conditions from a pure condi zerg. I cannot heal, I cannot fight, there is nothing I can do, my invulnerability skill is now a death sentence in face of the new meta, I can only die and run all the way back.

To put it bluntly, this sucks. It’s didn’t happen before all the nerfs. The small mistake Anet made nerfing Mist form has become a complete disaster at balancing in the new condi meta. But worse than being a mistake in balancing, it makes the game LESS FUN.

Truth is in face of the new condi meta Mist Form is a broken skill. A perfect example of what not to do when balancing classes in a MMO.

Hopefully GW3 will learn from these mistakes.

Feel free to add other examples of balancing that has lead to similar results.

EOTM should have been in the PPT rotation from the start. Making it a special mape where there is no specific objective other than loot was a huge mistake.

Then if they wanted they could have made duplicated versions for people in queue, but at least you would have a choice.

At this rate...a big let down.

I’m quite certain Anet is working on another game and are just releasing LS stuff they have made for GW2 a year ago by a small team at slow pace in order to drag the gap between this and the next game.

Look at WvW and the lack of GvG. If after 2 years it is apparently not worth any attention from Anet to work on competitive multiplayer and they do not invest to develop more maps…

Last reply they said was “it takes over a year to make a WvW map”, which is downright ridiculous considering the size of their company.

  • New Commander skills which are unlocked via the WvW perk system:
  • Rank 1 – Commander can designate a number of scouts equal to Commander Rank
  • Rank 2 – Commander can designate banner carriers by dropping special banners
  • Rank 3 – When outnumbered, Commander gains special abilities that affect all members within the squad within the vicinity: All Boons, Invulnerability, Mass Revive
  • Rank 4 – Commanders gain access to the Mega Laser and can call in orbital bombardments
  • Rank 5 – Commanders gain defensive stat boosts for each member of the squad within the vicinity
  • A commander can delegate a set number of scouts (who can accept or reject delegation). A delegated scout will receive for 1 hour a spyglass that can be equipped and used on any targetable enemy (and all enemies within a set radius of the scouted enemy). An enemy who has been scouted receives a “Scouted” debuff and will appear on the commander’s map for a set period of time. The “Scouted” debuff ends when the enemy is defeated or the scout is defeated.
  • Banner Carriers can carry a banner (similar to a warrior banner but dropped by the commander) that affect members within the squad and are designated by the commander. Banners must be carried for the effect to take place, and only one banner of each type can be appointed by a commander (haste banner, attack banner, defense banner, etc). Banners give their bonus passively and do not need to be activated for the effect to take place.
  • Commanders with the outnumbered buff have access to special abilities that only affects members in their squad (mass revive, all boons, invulnerability). Duration and cooldown is dependent on the severity of size difference between the two groups
  • New instances called “Arenas”
  • Arenas are small instanced rifts designed for 1v1v1, 2v2v2, 3v3v3, 5v5v5, 10v10v10 and 20v20v20 combat.
  • The objective is to fight for a piece of an Asuran Mega laser located at the center of the rift (deathmatch).
  • To participate in an arena fight, an entrance fee consisting of badges of honor is required.
  • Custom teams can be made (“Enter Solo” or “Form a Team”) to encourage both individual play and GvG
  • Later on add the option to spectate arena matches from the PvP or WvW menu
  • The winning team will return with the piece of equipment that will then be integrated into the Mega laser located at the starting point in Eternal Battlegrounds.
  • Once the Mega Laser is assembled, teams will enter the rifts to fight for energy cores to power the laser.
  • Commanders can, if the Mega Laser is assembled and there are enough power cores to charge the shot, call in an orbital laser bombardment on an area of the map of his choosing which does heavy damage to players, siege equipment, and towers.
  • The commander ability will have a very long cooldown (probably at least an hour)
  • The Mega Laser itself has a cooldown as well but not as long
  • Have at least one underwater arena for each matchup type
  • Arena instance entrances would need to be placed in an area that wouldn’t affect the population limit of any of the WvW maps
  • To facilitate communications between the arenas and the rest of WvW, it would be cool to have a Cross-Map/Instance chat channel, or upgrade “/T” to do such a thing

That’s pretty much it from me for now.

Anet should get to work, there is some good stuff on that list (and the other one), even if it could be improved… The commander stats boosts will not work however, since everyone has a tag today since there is nothing else to go for.

Well I wanted to keep this thread away from the “go play another game”… That will happen eventually, it’s just a matter of time.

All I would like is for an Anet dev to confirm they are preparing something and give us a timeline for future WvW development.

Considering all the gem store purchases most of us have made I think it’s normal we have some high expectations for the new competitive endgame content releases. WvW players have invested money into this game too to get all the gem stuff and all we are getting is PvE content.

More maps and some smaller maps [King of the hill with only 1 keeps in the middle, Team death match with kills scores affecting PPT, GvG maps ]
Add EOTM to the PPT rotation to encourage defence
Replace duplicated borderlands maps, no game should have duplicated content

Actually no, this is not PvE content, this is pure competitive gameplay. In the past, ANet has generally been very apt about vague comments but at least nods that it’s being worked on like they have with Bloodlust, working on a solution to deal with people going into wvw to do finish achievements at the expense of the server, and so on.

But it goes beyond simply not giving the public some insight into the direction they’re going with their content. They are doing so without really looking into what the public likes or wants. Just take a look at the past four months in the wvw section. It’s been very bare on discussion with ANet’s PR personal, let alone the Devs.

That sums up my feeling about it. I am really worried (so are my GW friends) that no content is being worked on at all for WvW, considering that last dev. comment of “it takes over a year to do a single map” and that after that we do not seem to be remotely close to a beta testing phase.

What is happening to WvW support? No content at all has been added since EOTM.
We were promised updates for PPT WvW based on the EOTM feedback (in the EOTM feedback thread that had thousands of replies). We were also promised new traps when they were first released. EOTM doesn’t count for PPT therefore it has turned into a farming festival.

Megaservers have removed sense of a server community (and that’s not necessarily a bad thing, the game is Guild Wars not Server Wars), yet the WvW gamemode remains server based instead of being guild based.

Since then nothing at all, no comments or announcements from the developers. Have you given up on supporting competitive multiplayer?

Meanwhile we are enjoying the nice new PvE content but how can you not see that there is a competitive counterpart missing?

How about a first Guild versus Guild map that take place in the small area around the moving sand?

The immobilize bug still exists

The bug occurs when you are CCed at the same instant you stun break it. You’re stuck in place, as if immobilized, until you do an emote that moves your character, such as dancing or sitting. In the middle of a fight, the time that it takes to do either can kill you, especially on a squishy class.

I’ve been playing since beta and while I’m not nearly as hardcore as some people (only bear rank), I’ve never seen this bug before, nor have I seen it mentioned on the forums before.

Should it be fixed? Sure. Does it merit people being this up in arms? I don’t think so.

If you really want to see a fix, then give the devs as many details as possible in bug reports, but I get the impression that this may be more of a venting post by the OP.

Maybe you just don’t use stunbreaks… I get the immobilize bug almost every day in WvW.
