no – because it isnt fun to run around in a zerg and hunt for peoples – its jsut pathetic aoe spam to farm lowlvls and get bags for it with nothing in than crap

a stacks with this bags is not even 10g and you need some hours for this – simply not worth

for pvp i go spvp – wvw/eotm is for farm

EOTM isn’t for “farm”, its a large 3-way WvW arena where anything can happen.
Most of us do not need to farm at all, we already have everything we need and are more concerned about having fun playing the game.

I think if you set all your skills to your thumb it’s not going to help you much amd your thumb will get tired of it.

you must have some weak thumbs. hehe.

There is no way you can be as fast with only your thumb as with a few fingers.
Share the workload between the left and right hand and you’ll be twice faster.

With my setup you can hit all skills at once without moving a finger.

I’ve been using this build lately, it may seems strange at first because of the 3 points in air and fire but it works miracle for me (actually does more damage than if I place all 6 points in air, unlike before the feature patch), I don’t have to stay on the back line when zerging and I can do massive damage with it.

lol @ WvW not a skilled play field.
Try taking on 50 man blob with a 15 coordinated guild group. works well.

Can be done, done it, and EOTM give you all the choke point to do so if your well coordinated.

It’s terrible, when I see a commander avoid fights and people happy about it I get so bored. What are these people even farming for if it’s not for gear that they will use to fight?

The best is to tag up and show them the fun and extra loot you get when you actually fight instead of playing like cowards.

The reward system needs an overhaul and depend primarily on winning the match.

I think if you set all your skills to your thumb it’s not going to help you much amd your thumb will get tired of it. What you want to do is avoid having to move your left hand to use the 6-7-8-9 keys.

I use f1-4 and numbers 1-5 as normal.

Then on my naga mouse:
2= utility (6) Armor of Earth
5 = utility (7) Mist Form
Middle mouse buton = utility (8) Lightning Flash
1 = Healing
4 = Elite

Works miracle for me, I can hit all skills instantly.

The nerf isn’t “3 times what they said it would be” either. It’s been proven to be within the range of about a 8-14% damage reduction depending on profession.

That is omitting the celestial gear nerf and divinity rune nerf, as well as the fact that some classes depended on crits more than others.
With full set of those it’s over 40% nerf to critical damage.

I looked yesterday and Spark price jumped to 1259g. Obviously the person selling it had a few… Because this is how it works, the precursor market is manipulated.

ANET NEEDS to do something about precursor price. I do not think crafting them is the answer, as the price of materials will also be manipulated. A flat price, 500g + 100 skill points perhaps would be the ideal.

No class comes close to the Ele in term of aoe control.

Ice field, Static field, earth line of warding equivalent, nuking (moves or crush zergs).

If you ever wonder why eles love playing staff it’s because of it’s intense area control in zerg fights: Mist form through a rushing organized group, static field from behind, meteor shower, ice field, tornado them down (EOTM), get your loot.

All I know is that the nerf was about 3 times what they said it would be and that it affected well balanced classes more than berserk (as most anet nerfs do).

Supposedly the base crit is 150% now, which is of course not explained anywhere in the game. I think at some point you have to stop wondering about all the nerf and balance problems in this game if you want to enjoy it, because when you open that topic it’s a Pandora’s box of issues and illogical decisions.

Guesting has no more reason to be. What Anet needs to add is the brilliant thing they had in GW1 where you could select your overflow.

The new zerg fest is game-breaking in a lot of cases.

I would be willing to bet that the second phase of the Living story will be a filler developed by a minimal part of their team while the majority of them work on a new game.

While this could be disappointing, because of the unfulfilled potential of GW2, if we were in their shoes it’s probably what we would all do considering the fast pace at which moves the industry.

They didn’t just acquire the Unreal 4 Engine for their future project to sit on it a few years developing content for their old GW2 engine. (source: http://www.examiner.com/article/guild-wars-2-publisher-inks-unreal-engine-4-guild-wars-3-coming ) They have to train their developers to work with the new engine and start making content early on.

The merging of servers to manage low population issues also hint at the fact that they are looking ahead beyond GW2. The Chinese release will give them a fresh cash income for the development of their future project.

NCSoft (whom the article is about) have a rather large number of other games under their banner, so assuming it means GW3 seems rather far-fetched.

I didn’t mention GW3, only the article did. Financially GW2 was a huge success, it’s normal to presume they are planning GW3.

The class is just broken overall so it’s normal it doesn’t work with LE.

Celestial gear got destroyed by Anet, so did Divinity runes. Everyone moved to Strength runes and an offensive/defensive gear combo.

When I first heard about it I was under the impression it was supposed to be a different place to go if you were in a queue for WvW to find fights.

But currently it seems that what you mostly see is a bunch of ppl doing karma trains.

This isn’t what anet really wanted this to be was it?

There is no defending of anything 99% of the time. The response I always get from the commander is more karma.

Can we just remove the Karma and Champ bags from EOTM and make it a place to have some epic open field fights.

EOTM is another of their nicely designed area that has been poorly implemented. It is beautiful, you can feel how much work went into it, but nobody bother defending the objectives because:

1- Points do not matter for WvW score
2- You cannot upgrade keeps, there are no rewards for defending
3- It rewards too much karma trains

They broke the ele so they wont fix it.

1- Mist form healing/utility nerf, was really essential considering our low hp and defense
2- RTL nerf, now a warrior with twice an ele hp can run away faster
3- Elemental attunement nerf: Epic fail
4- Cantrip healing nerf (Soothing mist): Epic fail
5- Celestial and Divinity nerf: Affected eles more than any other class, made our best trait line much weeker
6- Meteor shower huge red circles but no fix on lag, gives 2 sec to anyone to jump out of our damage area

I don’t notice that to be the case at all. Exotics are still way cheaper than they were even 6 months after launch. It used to cost a whole lot more to gear a character. With shared Ascended items, it’s even less money actually.

I respectfully disagree.

It’s now harder than ever to get Temple Armor and the rune/sigil changes resulted in a price hike for anything that is even slightly desirable. I helped my brother gear out his first 80 last weekend and it was an absolute pain coupled with sticker shock.

After this last “feature patch” I believe offering people that had divinity runes and celestial gear the opportunity to replace those items would have been the right thing to do, considering that:
1- Celestial and Divinity runes do not fufill the same function as they did when we paid for them
2- Some of us spent real money on gems in order to accelerate the speed of acquisition of that gear
3- Some of us spent months crafting celestial ascended gear (I didn’t fortunately) or acquiring laurels for celestial trinkets (that I did)
4- We spent in average 60g on divinity runes, celestial ascended mats cost well over 200g
5- To those of us who had the gear match the build for precise stats our characters are totally broken (~40% critical damage reduction on a character using full celestial gear and divinity runes)

All in all I had to spend about 80g to re-gear my character to be playable again and I’m still not done yet.

Xillix, I empathize with your current situation completely.

I honestly have no desire to play my Elementalist at the moment because re-gearing her out is just going to be a massive undertaking. When you throw the nerf to Meteor Shower through its AoE indicator into the equation, I just don’t even want to touch my Staff Ele because we’ve been once again pigeon-holed into Support builds.

On the bright side of things, at least Ele’s got some nice changes in sPvP.

Thanks, I tried to leave the elementalists problems out of this thread but for sure there are tons of them, speaking about the WvW balance:

The nerf to cantrip traits (healing on cantrips) and the elemental attunement trait basically destroyed build diversity, leaving you with only 30 points you can move around for offence (in comparison to 50 before for the same effectiveness).

They added a huge red circle to meteor shower (it actually appear over 1 sec before the meteors start to drop so everyone dodge out of it) without increasing it’s effectiveness or damage, it’s nerf done unprofessionally and it is inconsequential.

Also now you do more damage placing points in fire than in air, and over that you can blind with the new fire trait and extend your meta-condi duration. In short, fresh air builds have little reason to be used now.

However this thread is about how they handled the celestial and divinity item stats change and the replacement dyes Anet promised but I never received.

The main problem is that we have nothing left from that living story besides a few skins.

None of the content can be replayed/revisited (tower, scarlett battle, etc). It’s a very bad strategy commercially to remove the content you make like it’s of no importance.

It’s like their living world is based on “reality tv” without consideration that in a game content can be played multiple times.

SAB won a “expansion of the year” award and the only thing Anet could figure out was to remove it from the game for 6 months. The end result of bad management is typically a waste of potential and it’s exactly what we see here.

I guess it’s another way for anet to show how they don’t care about fixing the staff and focus issues. And that you got to play the class their way.

generally however the ele got nerfed, because we have to use strength runes and more points in fire/air to do the same damage, we get less defence.

Anet literally destroyed my character:
Full divinity runes: epic nerf
Almost full celestial gear: epic nerf
Elementalist: Nerfed boon duration
Crit nerf: affected the best trait line and only good offensive line for the elementalist

I don’t feel like playing much anymore: My character was PERFECT and now it’s KITTEN.

spend 60g trying to regear (with 1 out of my 3 gems armor that they accepted to refund) it but there is just no point, what I loved about this game is BROKEN.

Well there is one good news, ESO fixed my RvR crashes…

@Xilllix: I’ve seen plenty of really good Eles recently that do anything but run around helplessly before dying. Perhaps you’re doing something wrong?

lol no I’m not doing anything wrong, I’m speaking post-patch:
With a 50% crit reduction on celestial gear and divinity rune nerf wtf can you do in 1 vs 1 until your entirely re-geared? Most eles run celestial gear and got a 40% damage nerf. Damage is was the best defence we had.

Show me your math. How does a 50% crit damage reduction on your paper doll result in a 40% damage nerf, exactly?

Beyond the 12% base nerf and ignoring non-crits, celestial gear was hit by 50% crit reduction, divinity runes by another equivalent ratio. For someone that had a full ascended celestial armor with divinity runes it’s a direct 40-50% nerf to crits on those. Depending on the trinkets it’s a 30% to 50% nerf to total crit damage.

So I supported ferocity. A 10% reduction would likely offer a more balanced gameplay and lead to less flash fights in wvw. However, I sure as kitten don’t support a 33% reduction and that’s what a some of us got. I am a balanced build necro mostly in wvw.

The problem lies in the fact that I balanced my armor and focused crit dmg in jewellery. Here are some examples:

  • Stonecleaver Spire: 10% -> 134f (9%). Ok, there’s your 10% reduction.
  • Bud of Pale Tree: 9% -> 85f (5.6%). Whoa, that’s a 37% reduction guys…your math is falling apart.
  • Bagh Nakh: 8% -> 68f (4.5%). Whaaaaa….That’s a 43.5% reduction. WTF!?

These aren’t even the celestial pieces you noted you’d be screwing over, yet these are just as bad.

But here’s the clincher. It would have been hard for them to mention each individual piece, but every class has a crit damage tree. How the frell did you neglect to mention that every single class in the game was getting a 33% reduction on their crit damage from trait trees? 30% -> 300f (20%).

So since I can maintain 100% crit during damage phases and jewellery gear took such a massive hit, I’m looking at a straight up 33% reduction in damage. That’s not a nerf, that’s anet saying please log off.

If you’re sticking with a change of this magnitude the only thing that would fix it is an across the board stat change. I need to swap literally all my gear. I’d even need my ascended recipes swapped so I could finish with whatever the new balance would be. It’s rather clear you guys wanted a simple solution this, but you’re way off on the value of ferocity in relation to the other stats, especially when you view it as a minor stat on an item.

I was looking forward to this patch. I don’t have time for more than one class, but since you completely broke my build I’m logging, possibly permanently, if you want to stick with these changes. I’m a frelling level 55 downlevel necro running around in wvw now. And I sure as hell am not taking 3 months to build another ascended set after I’m almost done with my current one. I’m sure you’d break that one just as I finish since you’re all about massive patches now…
If I wanted a cycle of being nerfed into oblivion then buffed to complete imbalance I could play WoW…

Can’t say it better. With the same build as before I’m down 35% damage. My meteor shower that used to do 6.5k with tornado do 4k. Lightning flash was set up to crit at 2k, now it barely does over 1k if it crits.

Everything feels BROKEN.
I’m taking a break, see you in a few weeks perhaps if I have nothing better to do than re-gear a character I had fine-tuned to perfection.

I don’t think they care, we’ve told them months before the patch was released.

Food is nerfed to around 66%, crits on celestial ascended armor are nerfed 50%, celestial trinkets are nerfed 50%, divinity runes are nerfed the same, then on top of that if I’m not mistaken they added a 10% crit effectiveness reduction (or overall reduction). And what you have total is basically a 30% crit nerf globally on a character using a portion of these things, which would probably be the number they were aiming for.

Since the beta the ele has been nerfed for like 200%. Soon all we will be able to do will be emotes, water fields and rainbows.
