Like I’m going to spend 300g for such a blatantly half-done feature. If we could display our guild tags then I would keep my gold for it. I wasted my gold and cash on many useless things in this game, like skins I then salvaged, but but a simple color change… no way.

No you can’t. Traps can’t be laid under stealth, and I dare anyone to stand in the middle of a zerg for 10 seconds and lay a trap. It’s simply not possible.
Laying a trap is not as simple as people think. What this will do is delay the attackers 45 or 20 seconds. That’s a good thing to promote defense/allow time to set up defense.

This sounds like it will help defenders, and the game needs something to help defense because right now it’s a thankless job. I’m waiting to see it’s impact.
In a keep with 1500 supplies it means you can disable the ennemy siege for 2 hours non stop.
Suggestion: find some friends and get the stuff you need in the morning when everyone is off at work.
It would have been better if they just let the blue tag for 100g and added the ability to unlock a dye-slot for the commander-tag for 400g.
They probably won’t change their mind considering they had 2 years to think this over and come up with these 4 colors.

I agree 300g for account bound tag is reasonable. But to charge 300g for something supposed to be QoL is just pure greedy.
It’s certainly not a game feature when your going to charge over 100$ of gems for all 4 colors. And 300g is too much even for account bound, most people only use the tag on 1 or 2 character. They shouldn’t have increased the price at all if they wanted to make it seem like a gift instead of a ripoff.
Colour your commander tag! Only 800 gems a colour! Make your tag account bound, only 2000 gems!

Was giving my gold away to my friends to help them make their legendary until they announced commander tag prices would go up 300% and you would need to buy them again for each colours. I thought I had all I needed with my, ascended gear, Bifrost and Incinerator. Just 10g in bank.

You asked our communities about desired changes to wvw, we told you we wanted different colored commander tags, so we could coordinate our gameplay and now this is what we are expected to get? 300g for an accountbound commander tag is high, but since it’s accountbound I can understand this high price. But each color has to be bought separatly? For 300g? That’s ridiculous… Our commanders spend most of their money to create superior siegeweaponry and now they have to pay that much for a simple feature we asked for nearly 2 years now? I’m speechless…
I know you might say “That’s a good goldsink…” and I know there’s too much gold ingame. But most of this gold is aquired in PvE, so please don’t take your gold from WvW-players…
Instead, you could make those colors available to high ranked wvw players or make them affordable with Badges of Honor, so that WvW-players can buy it, too…
Just to make sure… I’m not a wvw-only-player, I play pve most of the time, but it’s just unfair to those who wanted this feature that much… it’s like a slap into the face of all decent wvw-commanders. =(

For them a commander tag is like a trophy a rich guy gets for people to gather around and follow, EOTM Karma-train-style, nothing more.

This would already make more sense and be “reasonable”, specially for us that play 95% of the time only on 1 character.
And 300g for a color is almost an insult for people who have been playing a game mode neglected for a year.

Surely the whole point of having different colours is so people don’t get confused who they’re supposed to be following around. Making someone pay another 300g just to have a different colour completely negates the ability for people to switch colours to suit the situation and who else is on the map.

IKR this looks like being yet another case of anet taking a good suggestion and completely kittening it up in implementation. Never mind the fact that it takes them close to a year to do something that was supposed to be a quick win.

They’re probably just letting this game die slowly. The lack of WvW updates, having to fight the same matchups for 8 weeks in a row, megaservers and goal-less EOTM has fragmented the community to a point where most people are getting burned out. ON top of that even the new PvE content is lacking. Beside the new part of a zone everything feels like it’s been developed 2 years ago. Story wasn’t bad for the first 2 episodes of season 2 but then it became a snooze fest of waypointing.
Unless they can pull a rabbit out of a hat and show us that this LS was just the introduction to a complete expansion it’s easy to predict what will happen when the Fall games are released in the next months.
To be honest I was expecting much more than this when I bought the game, even if I’ve had an amazing time with it. GvG like in GW1 never came and I believed I would have new areas to explore in PvE like every months instead of once a year.
It’s just sad to see wasted potential.

While casting churning earth while a thief has time to backstab you twice for 9k and your churning earth will only hit for like 6-7k if your lucky.
I don’t blame the thief class however. Eles die in mist form from conditions, meteor shower make a huge circle everyone jump out now (so our best skill is almost useless), skill recharge is ridiculous, channelling our higher dps skills takes 4 times longer than other classes for less damage, and unless we go full bunker we die in 2 hits.
You are doing it wrong.
Try to play a thief, it ain’t that easy against any semi-competent foe. D/D backstab builds have easy tells to dodge or blind C’n’D. Any shadow arts build (D/D and D/P mostly) can be wrecked by most necros via interrupts (Doom, warhorn, staff mark), weakness (traited DS, offhand dagger or SoS) and heavy damage pressure (both direct damage and conditions are very viable).
Condition thieves should be no problem: just let them put some on you, then give them back via e.g. dagger #4, staff #4 or Plague signet (most likely only the first two, since almost no useful necro build involves the signet).
Acro and trickery builds with sword mainhand are way harder to deal with due to evasiveness and good access to interrupts – your best bet is to play defensively, dodge or outrun their #3 skills, don’t waste Cooldowns during their evade frames, and estimate their initiative drain to then land your heavy hitters. Trickery D/P is quite hard to counter for most necros, I guess, but this is also why I prefer duo or group roaming over solo roaming, since you may rely on some support if things go south due to someone hard- or soft-countering your build.
I’m not doing it wrong, I just made a caricature of the poor balancing… I don’t blame the thief class either. I have a full ascended gear thief as well I use when I want to blow off some steam. The thief class can dodge out of your churning earth also btw, and has 4 freaking seconds to do so.
Skill recharge on the ele is the problem.
As long has it has to do with new WvW content then it’s all good.
If by endgame you mean WvW then probably not.

just because anet has a plan, doesnt mean it is always a good one. The fractal reset is an example, its clear right now, that reseting people to 30 served very little purpose, and they will still have the same problems they were trying to solve (but did not) next time they want to add content/levels etc to fractals.
no one always has the right plan, one should not assume that people will always do everything right, just because they are paid to.
Oh Fractal reset…. yeah that was a bad decision. I’m not doing fractals anymore, specially since you still have no chance for a weapon skin drop.

We’ve been very disappointing by the lack of content or announcements for WvW this year, but this feeling will just make new content even more welcomed, as it has been quite unexpected!
It’s been a while since they’ve announced anything but living story. Hope you guys announce something soon because if not your doing a great blizzard impression.
We’re all waiting for an expansion. It’s either this or they are letting the game die slowly to focus on the next one. The living Story doesn’t provide enough content and it is not challenging : We get a little story that last 2 hours, can be done easily and then we log off for 2 weeks.
Considering the total lack of commitment toward WvW this trailer leaves me more than disappointing about the direction this game is going toward. I do the PvE stuff waiting for new WvW content, but seriously it’s not even that interesting and it’s way too easy.
Specially Part 1, that was quite a disappointment.
At least last month we had new regions to explore, finally.
They’ll probably release Guild halls!
Episode 1 and 2 were fun because they had new content to explore. This new episode is just a revisiting of old areas with a few bits of dialogue… It does seem like a filler and the beginning of LS1. I was doing it on a new character without map completion and I had to waypoint and run for 5 minutes like 20 times. Not well conceived at all from that perspective, in my opinion.
Lack of GvG is a major let down, otherwise GW2 has some nice communities of players.
If ranks were actually difficult or worthwhile to try to obtain…then sure.
I see that EotM minimap and…its basically free loot for filling a bar, for running around capping things which gives more free loot, while zerging mobs that give free loot….in a zone build for free clockwise free loot…

I want better gameplay, not more effing handouts, this is laughable to complain about really.
Well to my defence, after spending 3 hours of WvW raid with my guild I only got from 997 to 999 (in WvW, because that’s what EXS do 6 days a week) I ended up at level 999, then I went to EOTM to rank up to 1000. So before calling everyone of taking part in EOTM karma trains you should think twice. Maybe at max 250 of those 1000 ranks might have been EOTM (I was rank 500 before EOTM came out) but who cares?..
The point is that the reward system doesn’t value long-term playing: complete randomization doesn’t feel rewarding.
23 days of life left to this thread, then don’t forget to make a new one to pursue the discussion about how enthusiastic we are that they are making a WvW focussed expansion that will include a GvG game mode and this is why they’ve been silent for so long…

Apparently it takes them more than a year to make a single map (according to them). Their WvW team is evidently super small.
Considering that it’s been 2 years and that we have 1 new map (EOTM), making 3 bl maps would probably take them 5 years at the current pace…

2 things are possible:
Either (1) they totally gave up on GW2 and are making another game, staying silent to increase the game longevity or (2) they are silent before an expansion announcement. I could be totally wrong, but it seems to me that the new LS is old content they were keeping to fill a production time period; the last episode was identical in story-telling techniques to LS1 and taking place in low level areas.
On the topic of temporary content:
Charging near 10$ for an endless continue coin for SAB and then remove the content for a year… It’s perhaps ok to remove content, but it’s not ok to remove it when people have invested money into it (therefore paid for it).
GvG? As you said, never gonna happen. They avoid the question like plague.
You mean something as fun as GvG was in Guild Wars 1? Anet would have to reevaluate their priorities for the long-term longevity of this game instead of the short-term Gem store cash revenues.
