You aren’t being clear. 5-10 what? AM or PM? If its AM then you should be looking for an Oceanic guild like me
I’m still looking for a guild, but I’ve also noticed that a lot of guilds that play in my time zone are very small guilds or concentrated on SoS. I think it would be good to gather some of these small guilds on single server to better distribute GMT + 7 to GMT + 10 WvW players not only to reduce ques, but also have better competition against the top tiered servers.
Male Asura, however, do not end their names with vowels.
Actually they do:
Jonno, Kudu or Zu are guys.Kudu is mocked for his name. That’s where the tidbit about vowel endings comes from. Rytlock asks zojja “isnt kudu a girls name?” then you can speak with Zojja and ask her yourself to which she replies “Asuran names ending with vowels are traditionally female. I think his parents hated him”
All the more reason to have my male be a Thief! Thanks for the info
Mmmm lets see here. Great choices my friend, however I fear your human’s last name is quite uninspiring. Dominus, would be a more fitting variation of the spelling. The name now exudes power and dominance.
You have just been blessed by King Mantastic.
Getting back to this thread late because I was gone on business. Duminous I came up with myself to sound ominous and its been my last name of choice for Xpiher since GW1.
Question, how long does it take for those skills to recharge (haven’t started playing my Thief yet). Its the answer is “awhile” then its no OP
Bad argument. If I had a nuke that killed everyone on the map, it wouldn’t be balanced even if it had a week long cooldown.
Cooldowns don’t mean anything in terms of balance.
Hyperbole
Cool downs do matter. Because if anything in the chain is messed up, then they have to wait a LONG TIME to do it again, meaning in the interim they are kittened.
2 seconds is enough time to interrupt at least 1 skill in the chain. If that stops you from dying while making the chain useless, then the chain isn’t op.
I’ve edited my original post. I noticed I didn’t include a server
server transfers should be allowed until most servers have 24/hr coverage. Its that simple. Until then, some servers will suffer and won’t ever be a top tier.

Not that different from myself actually (+3), anyway the reason I made this guild was because GW2 is vast and I couldn’t really focus on just one (WvW is my favorite) so I made this guild to ‘play’ GW2 to the fullest. But if you just want to focus on WvW thats your choice and if you join Destiny’s Heroes you can do that.
How many members does HERO have? Are you all still on the stabilization phase of guild creation?
I’ll look at it, but I don’t have that kind of time TBH. Also, I’m in GMT + 9 time zone
Hello, I’m Xpiher and I’ve been playing MMOs since 2000. My gaming experience harks all the way back to the classics UO, Shadowbane, and EQ and there hasn’t been a major title that’s released that I haven’t at least beta tested. I’m currently in the market for a new guild primarily because my time zone and play times. As stated above, I’m currently playing in GMT + 9 time zone ankittenypically active during the early mornings if going by EST.
What I’m looking for:
- Mature guild – I don’t deal with drama or internal bickering in guilds anymore. The guild should be fairly active when I play and be dedicated to whatever it sets it’s mind to. However, while playing with a hardcore mentality, I need a guild that understand that real life, and the pleasures it brings, is paramount. My job simply doesn’t allow me to dedicated as much time to MMOs that I once was able to when I was a teenager.
- Competitive mind set – The guild should strive to reach its full potential. I am a very competitive person and I know that I will not fit in with a guild that doesn’t have the same competitive mindset as I do.
- Organization – The guild should be very well organized, especially in PvP. I feel that if a guild doesn’t have a plan when going into a situation, then it will ultimately fail even if individual skill amongst its members is high. This is especially true in WvW, where a well organized guild can be the difference between winning and losing the entire match on a server. I have personally seen this in GW2 and it really makes all the difference. This means that the type of guild I’m looking for should have predesignated teams if making a strong showing in WvW, or at least the flexibility and knowledge to put together adhoc teams that can do well. It should have the ability to splinter off into multiple groups to go after simultaneous objectives, but at the same time maintain cohesion.
- Preferably be located on a sever with 24hr coverage in WvW – While this might sound very selective, or wanting to bandwagon, the nature of my work can have me changing work schedule at a moments notice. This DOES NOT mean the server has to be good at WvW. I simply want to be able to put up a fight when I play. You’d be surprised what a dedicated group of 50 members can do against a zerg of 300 when being tactical.
What I offer
In every game I’ve played I have assumed a leadership roll in a guild at some point. In AOC I was my guild’s recruitment and events officer, in Darkfall I was a diplomat, in GW I was the PvP general. I’ve also lead guilds in the past, none of them big names, but all managed to find a home within an alliance or within another guild if membership waxed to the point of not being sustainable.
I am a very focused player and I love playing the meta game. In most games, I tend to make many builds to play with my chosen profession. For example, in GW I came up with a successful GvG condition pressure build as well as various RA builds that showed moderate success.
This also lead me to being a team leader in GW and other PvP games. I managed to make it to r6 without using FOTM builds often (I hate IWAY) and in fact held halls on numerous occasions. I accomplished this by being a dedicated mid-line tactics caller, and during other times being a dedicated spike caller. In games such as DAoC (what WvW is based on) I often look at the big picture and am able to make sound tactical decisions. For example, knowing when to sacrifice a holding to get a better reward, or feigning a retreat to lure people into a trap, or knowing the proper use of diversions.
By trade, training, and hobby I’m also a diplomat. I try to see everyone’s point of view and try reach solutions to problems in a very balanced way. I also look for ways to take advantage of potentially chaotic political situations to strengthen any guild/alliance/faction I’m in. What does this mean for GW2 and WvW? Well this means that I see the benefit of reaching beyond the server I’m on to strike at a common enemy (the dominating sever of the week in most cases) or establishing cross server alliances to make better use of time and getting more reward for all. Once GW2’s guesting system is implemented, this type of mentality, IMO, will make completing objectives in both PvE and PvP easier to accomplish
Overview of what I offer:
- Competitive mindset
- Leadership experience
- Metagame knowledge
- All around PvP experience
- Oh and Willingness to learn
- Willing to switch server. I’d rather be on a server with a good group of people than call any one server a home. If I’m not currently on your server I’ll gladly switch, even if free transfers are taken away
I can’t think of much else to say about myself, at least not on an open public forum. If you have any other questions please contact me here or at MMORPG (same name). I look forward to hearing from you all

I’ve rerolled my Sylvari as Aneslis which is Irish for careful/thoughtful. Works with my RP for this character as well. Thanks again guys
Thanks for your help guys. I knew Victoria Hellbane didn’t really fit for my Sylvari. I might reroll her.
I looked up Scandinavia names for my Norn. Stal means steel. The Friar was just the concept I was taking for the guardian overview.
I’ll have to disagree with people saying The Unseen doesn’t fit my Asura. Hes a thief after all.

Being outnumbered might give a bonus to karma, magic find and exp, but how are we supposed to use this when we’re being spawn camped at every single exit of our base, and there’s five defenders at every objective besides?
Did you misread what I wrote? I said that outnumbered bonus and Orb of Power bonuses should be switched
I’m going to keep calling for Anet to fix the problem, and so will thousands more. They’re going to do something about it sooner or later, and it’s going to be hilarious to watch the night crews cry because their unfair tactics got wrecked.
What you aren’t realizing, because you are being incredibly short sighted, is that if ANET puts a soft cap on the number of people that can do WvW, with the system that currently is in place, you will punish people who simply play during off times, not just those who are purposefully doing so. And the problem you complain about can easily be solved by
1) Recruiting more people to WvW during off times
2) Team up with the other server to prevent the night cappers from taking over everything
3) Simply let the “ladder system” work itself out
Stop being short sighted!
I understand the OP but I don’t think Anet can do much about it. I play on Far Shiverpeaks and every morning Vezunah has taken over the entire map. From what I heard it’s because at night (EU time) alot of Canadians play on that server and just take everything without opposition.
A possible solution could be that Anet only allows European IP’s on EU servers but then again there could be some crazy guild that only plays at night and takes over everything.
It’s indeed very frustrating and I hope Anet finds a solution but I doubt it.
During peek times it’s alot of fun to play against Vezunah and it would be a very close call to see who is the best of the two, but because the canadians take over everything at night we don’t stand a chance.
Why doesn’t your server have a night team? Because no one on your server organized one. I’m sure there are lots of people on your server who play on off times. Recruit them. Even if Canadians didn’t play on your server, you’d have that same issue when someone from GMT + 5 does, or when another EU server has EU players that play in the morning/late at night.

The fact that you genuinely think this is fun or balanced baffles me. This isn’t skill, it’s zerging.
And now that the night crews have all picked their servers, how are the other servers supposed to get any? Think about it for more than five seconds. Abusing people’s downtime to win when they aren’t playing isn’t fair, and it doesn’t even give you a challenge.
I’ll stop considering it a problem when and if your servers all end up playing against each others and the other servers can actually have some real competitions of skill instead of who can zerg better during low activity times.
Why don’t you guys try to team up with the other server you are playing with who don’t have a dedicated night capping “team” and create one with both servers? You know its 3 faction PvP for a reason right? If you both coordinate against the winning team, you can prevent them from getting more points at night than they should. More can be done than simply calling for ANET to fix the supposed problem.
Also, why should I be punished simply because I play during off times? Isn’t it enough for your server to earn more points for being out numbered?
Added in purposed solution for WvW outnumbered/night “capping” (increase the points earned for held structures and swap the bonuses for Orbs of Power and Outnumbered)

It is going to be hilarious when the hammer drops. I fully expect your type to be here with post after post “crying” about your lost numerical advantage. It will be glorious.
The only thing that will make me “cry” is if, because of your type, I’m unable to play WvW at all. I’m an American currently working in Asia. Since I plan on returning to the states in the next year, I play on an American server. What you are asking for would virtually prevent me from playing WvW at all.
I somewhat agree with your type that number advantage should be diminished in some way. I just don’t agree with your purposed solution. The only thing that should happen, if anything does (since the ladder system will address this over time) is to make out numbered servers earn more points for structures they hold. Anything else punishes players for playing when they can which is asinine.
And for all you know I could be on a losing server since I didn’t say which server I’m on.

Why are so many people from high population servers defending so hard their obvious advantage? I see these people constantly calling everyone whiners who doesn’t accept their numerical superiority as a challenge rather than the ridiculous balanced problem that it is. I have a feeling these same people who are calling everyone else “whiners” will be here whining when Anet finally does something to negate their unbalanced advantage.
I’m sorry, but hard caps simply punishes players who play when you don’t. The only thing that should happen is what I suggested above, other wise you break the system.
Also, as other have stated, nothing is stopping you from forming night teams with people who play on an American Server from Asia. And if you are that out numbered, maybe your server should go on a recruitment drive to get more people interested in WvW.
The ranking system is Anet’s fix to some servers being stronger than others. And guess what? Its already implemented!
True, but I would like to see small teams/servers that fight well be properly recognized by the system. Increasing the point rewards for being out numbered would do that.

I don’t agree with auto kicking people. Some people have different play schedules and its unfair to kick them simply because they aren’t playing on your prime time. Also remember there aren’t any Asian servers and the euro servers span what 10 time zones?
Instead, there should be an an algorithm that takes into account how outmatched you are and, as suggested in my GW2 Suggestion Link, the outnumbered and power orbs bonuses should be switched. So, if you out numbered 3:1, you should get 3x the points for holding any structure during that time (balanced of course) That prevents punishing people for playing when they can, and works to make it more fair.
Ok, so in every game I play I make at least 1 character who’s named Xpiher Duminous, and usually its a Dark Knight/Battle Knight/ or Necro, and then I make alts. In GW2 I wanted to make character names that kinda fit the lore of the game. Please tell me if my names make sense for the races/class combination I’ve made
Sylvari Elementalist- Victoria Hellbane
Human Necromance – Xpiher Duminous
Asura (male) Thief – Bippie the Unseen
Norn Guardian – Anton Stal (the Friar)
Char – I don’t know what name to pick, but he will be an engineer. Please help me create a name
Thanks all in advance!
I know theres been a lot of reports of creatures and therefore DEs that get bugged out. I think I figured out the issue. GW2 has a built in anti-exploit feature with creatures that makes them invaluable to attacks when the creature cannot attack the players. This mostly triggers when characters are on platforms creatures can’t reach or visa versa. It appears that this anti-exploit feature is what is causing the majority of creatures to become bugged. It seems to me that the game does a check any time a creature moves in the Z plane and applies invulnerability to the creature when its out of range of the player.
“Easy fix” – move creatures away from cliffs/areas where there is not-free movement in the z plane. I had a creature bug out on me when moving in and out of water. The creature could do the same, but I killed it in the “middle” bugging it out and preventing me from completing the skill challenge (and anyone else who wants to do it)
“Easy fix 2” Despawn and respawn creatures else where when invulnerability last more than 10seconds. Annoying for boss battles
Stop gap before fix – Hire some GMs with the power to force move or kill creatures. Give them a gem stipend for their time or something.
Massive update!
- Changed formatting and added a table of contents for an easier read
- Added WvW achievements, server rewards, and misc
- Added Hard Mode and Expert mode for dungeons for end game content
- Added guild section
- Added player housing section
- Added Skills and Traits build swapping
- Where in the World is Kala Krew mini-game
number one would be exploited by kill trading wouldn’t it?
/signed and stolen
This won’t work since some traits are things like “wells now use ground targeting”
It would also imbalance PvE and PvP and lead to less build diversity
I just got done adding this to my own massive suggestion list so /signed
I like these ideas. /signed and stolen

Use stuff dropped from mobs while leveling
Once you hit 80, buy crafted exotics
Only use vendors for re-imaging fav weapons
Profit
Wow, this is a long list. I have suggestion for you next time you make something like this: Google Doc it. I’ll have to go through it all but I can already see theres a lot of good ideas here
Third and stolen (added to my suggestion compilation)
Actually, out manned should also give more points toward victory for holding structures if already doesn’t as well.
Edit 2: Orbs of Power should give things like chance of might on critical hits, speed boost, etc as well. CHANCE THOUGH not a permanent buff
(edited by Xpiher.5209)
Sure as long as that loot isn’t better than stuff you get from crafted gear.
No thanks. I’d rather see spam then remove any need to communicate at all. OP you probably didn’t wait enough time in between each LFG message, or you never changed the text.
You seem to forget how hard it was to get specialty armor in Marhan’s Grotto and The Granite Citadel was to get at launch. Give it time and gold will be easier to come by
I think they are trying to implement this, but had difficulty. Not a bad idea

I know you all said that the suggestions forums would be temporary, but I think it is a great way to hold a conversation between players on the various things that should happen to Guild Wars 2. Through these discussions, the development team can not only better understand the player base, but also see potential problems with ideas while being theorycrafted.
I purpose keeping the suggestion forum section, but implementing some minor rules to keep the flood of ideas from burying everything. First and foremost, every topic should follow simple naming convention to allow players to see if someone has already posted an idea, help devs see ideas that are posted repeatedly, and moderators help moderators merge similar suggested changes. Below is a template
- What large aspect of the game you are talking about: PvE, sPvP, WvW, Class, Crafting, Forums, etc
- What specific aspect you are talking about: Personal Story, Siege mechanics, Dynamic Event, Dungeons, endgame, Crafting profession, etc
- A brief overview of your idea
So, based on this naming convention you know from my title that of this thread
I’m talking talking about the forums – specifically the suggestion forums, and I purpose some sort of naming convention for topic titles.
As stated above, I believe this will cut down on spam, help devs track areas of the game, help players find ideas that may have already been stated, etc
Now, for players like myself who post suggestion list, I would say that you simply have them follow
Player Name’s Suggestion Thread
Thoughts?
I have the two most expensive pieces of T3 now, and I think they should be more expensive. They are just for looks, not for their stats. There’s not much to understand with that, I don’t see how it’s causing confusion. If you don’t like the look, then don’t buy it.
The only thing I agree on is making them ONLY skins, like HoM gear. Because yes, the stats are trash, and if you have enough gold to even buy a piece of cultural gear you should understand that by then.
That’s basically what I was saying – either make them skin only, or make them available as exotic. But not give us useless pieces of scrap metal and make us buy another max armor AND transmutation stones.

Wait… which server is having a problem with being out manned? But there isn’t a point to this because the whole idea of having 3 faction PvP is to mitigate the impact of server dominance in all forms.
I think if ANET were to try to help mitigate numbers advantage should only be done if more versions of WvW are created to eliminate/reduce ques and a better way to do it than scaling point, is to put a soft limit on the number of players that can join when a server is out gunned. For instance sever if sever A has 30 players (a minimum number for example) than the other servers can only have 45 members each (1.5×30=45)
Say the server just got outmanned and the dominating team has 60 players on, which 15 do you kick? This has been suggested, but you can’t kick people just because one team is winning. :s
If people leave, you don’t kick anyone. You just don’t let more people in until the teams even up. IMO though, ANET should only use this system once the ques are reduced through some method, or only use this method if multiple copies of a WvW instance are made available
Wait… which server is having a problem with being out manned? But there isn’t a point to this because the whole idea of having 3 faction PvP is to mitigate the impact of server dominance in all forms.
True, but how far are you going to take this? There are already a few systems in place that balance the WvW battles in a more generic sense like the 3 factions you mention and the matchmaking system.
But Turek also has a point here because full dominance of 1 side can still happen and that doesn’t make WvW enjoyable for the losing team. What can you do at that point?
IMO its better to limit the number advantage directly than giving an artificial point advantage. See my edit of the post you quoted.
Although, if WvW’s server bonuses were better (bonus Karma, cheaper dungeon vendors, etc) then wouldn’t the PvE crowd want to participate in it more to reduce their grind and get their “epics” faster? Maybe that’s an even better solution.
/signed. This is a great idea. Consider it “stolen”
I was just thinking about this. I completely agree. I think it should be something you should work for though. Not something sold in the cash shop. I’m thinking something along the line of the FFXI Mannequin quest.

I don’t see any benefit from having one. Themepark PvP servers typically don’t do well, even in games where there’s some reason for them (thinking of factional based games).
OK, its official that player housing is something they have in development for a future release.
can I get the source for this information?
Last update- September 17, 2012
First, I’d like to say that I’m very happy that ANET’s forum staff made a sub forum for suggestions. You guys rock. Now on with it
Hello all, my name is Xpiher Duminous. For nearly 15 years, I have been an avid MMOer. I’ve played pretty much every major title and a lot of niche games. In fact, you might have seen me in these games and participating in their forums (I’m very “vocal”) or on MMORPG.com. Since about 2007, I’ve made it a point to compile suggestions for the games I play instead of letting them get lost in the noise of forums. Below is a google docs link to my suggestions for GW2. I plan on updating the suggestion list periodically, most likely on Sunday. This thread will be “bumped” every time a major update happens and will include an over-view of the update.
If you piggy back off of my thread, or have good suggestions that I see in the future, I’ll likely include them in this document and give you credit (I won’t see them all).

Gear isn’t scaled the same way stats are
Thanks for the tips guys…
So to clarify something though… “map completion” rewards a big chunk of xp? So if I was level 40 and went back to the 1st zone, I will still get ??? xp?
Yes
But I don’t understand how you’ve hit a level wall. I’m level 37 and I haven’t hit a wall yet. I do daily every day and map completions for each zone I’ve been to (I’ve yet to leave human zone). I do hit a node almost every time I see one, but the exp isn’t that great from doing so. From this I’ve leveled 1-37 in relatively short order – about 40hrs into the game. At least 5hrs trying to figure out crafting recipes, 1 hr making my character, a couple doing jumping puzzles, etc, and at least 5 in WvW (not much Exp gained when you are in the zerg). I’d say, of actual game play I’ve spent maybe 20.
You do realize that ANET intends to add ladder tournament style play soon right?
