Proxy I have to ask, How often are you getting killed in a zerg? Usually when I die in a zerg, Its because i’ve screwed up, or we’re just flat out over run. You have 1500 Range with Longbow, You shouldn’t be getting mascaraed that much unless you have virtually no situational awareness.

Its the same thing with Shortbow, Believe me when I say the Shortbow Range Reduction BLOOOOOWWWWSSSS….. I still can’t believe a lot of rangers don’t think this is a big deal because i’m assuming they play god awful SPvP….However the Weapon is incredibly powerful even with the range reduction for killing people who actually push into the lines. People who end up extending past the lines I generally swap to Shortbow and Murder with lots of Bleeds….Axe will never be able to do that…nor will Torch.. They’re amazing Bunker Ranger Weapons…But for bursting someone they’re so so at best.

For Heals, Again I generally pop it going into the fight to cover the small amount of damage that gets to me cause i’m hanging in the back..I’m not a front line person with this build… i’m very cautious usually.. If i was going to use any other heal it’d probably be Heal as One.

I’ve tried Lightning Reflex, it works pretty decently, I’ve also tried SoR and Protect Me, All are good choices…I actually don’t run Signet of the Wild much anymore.. and generally stick more to Protect Me now.

Never dropping Signet of the Hunt, ever…..

Traps are 600 Range, I’m not running 600 Range into the fight to throw down Traps..Also there are times when you do use Barrage without Sharpening Stone (When Keen Edges are up) but you are right it isn’t that much of an improvement..May play around with it and see what other talents i can use.

Soften the Fall…Really? I have to be honest…This talent has saved my life more then any other talent in WvW……It’ll be a cold day in hell before I give this up for Vigorous Renewl

Swapping Gear, I’m actually trying a full Rabid Build right now to see how much the damage drop is on Longbow…. Its not to bad…and the bleed damage is picked up.. but I have to spend some more time on it.

Warriors in general won’t be happy till they can run full berserker or soldier’s and have the same heals as a Ranger with full apothecary.

You have no defense. You have no damage. You have a gimmick.

Every 24 (best case scenario) to 36 seconds you get a really obvious AoE that stacks up to 6/7 bleeds with under 10 seconds duration (if you’re lucky with procs) at up to 5 targets. More often than not it’ll simply spread out 1/2 bleeds across a larger group. This sitting at little over 1.1k condition damage.

For this you are built like a full berseker (i.e.: absolutely no defensive stats whatsoever), which will greatly outperform your optimal damage far less conditionally. You have basically no armor and a pathetic 15k health.

Your only form of defense comes from the semi-vigor and from the 2 seconds of protection on roll. While these things are good, they’re not nearly enough for someone with under 2.2k armor and barely 15k health.

You also have no condition removal whatsoever and no stun breakers. On a character as made of wet napkins and tissue paper as yours, this means any serious condition build will utterly destroy you, while anyone with a half decent burst and a stun can instagib you whenever they so choose, and there is literally nothing you can do about it.

You’re also running Troll Unguent, but you’re so very much NOT built for it. Troll Unguent is a slow but powerful regen. It’s built for very tanky builds, since it heals the most out of any healing skill we have, but does so much slower than any other. For a tanky build that’s receiving very mitigated damage, this is a very acceptable trade off. Your build, on the other hand, gets fragged by a gentle breeze. You need burst healing, cause if you’re under attack you won’t survive the time Troll Unguent takes to “kick in”.

Same issue goes for Signet of the Wild. Great signet, but you’re not running any healing power, and you have no toughness, so its effects are completely lost on you. You’re also not running Signet of the Beastmaster, so it’s not like you get any benefit from it, and you’re not running anything in BM, so your pet is hardly making the most of it either.

Hey, at least this is leagues better than Druzila (or whatever the name is)‘s build that was essentially a condition build with no condition, but it’s still a pretty bad idea.

A. Its zerging build, Not really going for the whole solo defense routine here… If you really want some defense, Throw on some Rabid gear and do it. I’m actually working on getting a set right now just to see how much the power drop will hurt my damage.

B. 6/7 Bleeds? Really? and 10 second duration? Have you even tried this build? Cause If you don’t move, You’re going to be eating around 15, and the ones from sharpening stone and keen edges are 13 seconds long…. not under 10.. If i’m behind you, I can apply a stack of 25 bleeds very quickly, as anyone who actually tried this build will tell you.

C. It really doesn’t matter what heal you run, Cause most of them are going to be pretty awful without healing power.. I tend to like Trolls a bit more cause it does offer the most healing without healing power.. Signet of the Wild, again this is preference, I’ve been trying to find a good secondary ability and have been using things like Protect Me for example (which isn’t that bad with this setup since Pets are not really major to its success)

D. Also Let me just say, If you’re getting attacked, You’re probably screwed either way, no heal will end up saving you…I mean it has no bloody toughness or vitality….Hence the Zerging Part.

Yes, each “wave” consumes one charge of Sharpening Stone. This was actually put on Sebrent’s thread about tooltip clarifications.

But there was a bug that the first “wave” of arrows didn’t apply the prep to all targets, just one. So only one target gets hit Opening Strike, which is a really big disappointment.

That’s out of sync with skills like the axe Split Blade. That skill will consume all five charge on each hit iirc.

Yeah, splitblade seems to be the only attack that consumes all 5 charges in one hit. It’s considered a bug because even though it consumed all 5 charges, only the rightmost axe actually causes the bleed from Sharpening stone.

Now that I think about it, I haven’t tried it with SB #2 yet.

Anyway, try it out with other AoE multihit skills, Sharpening Stone is a really strong utility if the right attacks are used to apply it. Barrage is just the most obvious one

The Horn #4 is also really good, But it has to compete with offhand Torch and Dagger so it’s not used much in non condition builds.

Been playing again today with this build.

Only thing i’ve really changed was using 3 affliction runes + 3 krait runes, and picking up a Carrion Longbow that has Corruption Sigil on it (I swap back to my longbow with Earth Sigil once i’m at 25 stacks)

The amount of bleeds this build can spit out is absurd.

I ended up getting killed by a BM Ranger when I was getting to the action (which is to be expected) but he was so surprised about the amount of bleeds I put out that he invited me to the group to ask how I did it.

I’m going to shoot us all in the foot and ask it because it’s bothered me ever since this build first came out months ago. The Sharpening Stone + Barrage combo, do the five bleed stacks apply to every person in five pulses or the arrows? The norm (as I understand it) for Sharpening Stone was that once five bleeds were applied the preparation ends. It seems like Barrage and Sharpening Stone have unique interaction with each other that seemed unintended to me.

PS: Why not Krait, Afflicted and Centaur runes? You get an additional 15% bleed duration by running three sets of two instead of two sets of three. Last I heard, even fractions of a second count towards the damage so any condition duration matters.

I’m under the impression that Conditions only do damage off whole numbers cause its based off tics

Either way i kind of like the extra condition damage I get from doing the 3/3 setup, its 110 and you need condition damage with this build since Rampager’s is Precision heavy.

Also not only does Sharpening Stone act that way, so does Keen Edges.

So if you have someone targetted, Pop Sharpening Stones, and you start barraging, and they go below 50%, it’ll set off keen edges, thus it’ll keep applying bleeds…. That’s 10 Stack of Bleeds just from those two abilities on anyone standing in that field, That’s not counting the Sigil and Sharpened Edges going off as well

This build is AWESOME! I’m now carrying 2 or 3 of everything in my inventory which is a lot of gear to me. Settler’s swap’s out quickly with a blend of Rampager’s/Rabid/Carrion. I stopped precision at 50% and tried to perk up my condition/toughness/vitality values.

I’ll try the spiders tonight. I really don’t like spider’s, ick Though never used poison fields before. Oh… the pain we’ll be bringing tonight.

Conditions get removed by most classes and then you’re left there impotent. You may be alive but you’re not going to cap a point and you won’t be for very long when that (insert ANY class here) calls all his buddies and you go down like a KITTEN.

They ruined Rangers and as long as morons like you keep posting stuff like this, we’ll never get it fixed.

Unless you specifically gear anti condition to the fullest, you’ll never be able to remove them fast enough on a ranger.

We apply a boatload of conditions, incredibly fast….

Its me zerging for 2 hours, but you can skip around and see whats its like…The only thing I dislike about this gameplay is sometimes I switch weapons, and it doesn’t go through cause so many people cause skill lag and it throws me off.

Probably drops SotW and uses SoR instead, or maybe keeps SotW and uses the 3 second quickness at 30 instead of Natural Healing instead.

SPvP started adopting a build I made last year, and people in SPvP didn’t know how to combat it…

Thus it got nerfed.

I still prefer S/D and A/T over the opposite, but i’ve been playing that way for a very long time.

I like Spiders better, though Drakes wouldn’t be bad either.

Yea, at this point I think I could run this build with Forge Runes as well just because Weakness.

I might try it, I have a set with it.

Yea, only reason I don’t run Rabid is the lack of Power on it, which helps on the damage.

Rampager’s has the stats I want, but the Precision I wish was replaced with Condition or Power being the main stat, I’m sitting at 60% chance to crit right now base.

I’m still debating if its worth stacking Bleed Duration vs Condition Damage

The big trouble with them was EB transferring the Chills/Immo/Cripples to the pet, that just ruined my dps against them

Had to play very defensively against the good ones, and even then…I lost more then I won.

If i’m not killing them in under 2 minutes, chances are the 30% crit talent isn’t going to help.

Healing Power is in the Pet line because it improves our Heals to keep the pet up.

Us getting more Vitality does nothing for the pet.

10 in Marksman is to pickup Keen Edges

It + Sharpening Stone is a 10 stack of bleed burst..

This goes along with the normal 11 stacks you can do.

I’ve killed quite a few people this patch doing this combo…No on expects to basically instantly eat 21 stacks of bleeds.

Guard use to be amazing, till they gutted it.

As this point with the way weakness is in PVP, I could be using a dead horse and still be effective

AS someone who uses Sword a lot, I’d rather Anet not bother looking at it….

Can’t wait to see some feed back about this build in a few weeks. (I tried running this night of the patch)

The major problem I found with this build was we had no control or any real damage output skills bar the axe #3, which is easy to dodge. Now we can’t just use Cat’s/Birds to break our target getting us the upper hand, to much tank and no gank.

Also new elite trait is rather stupid, your willing to waste of much to invest in swiftness/regen which you can get rather easy.

His is more defensive then mine, I’ve moved to a more offensive setup to makeup for the lost Pet damage, and the new synergy with that talent makes Sharpening fairly nice.

They don’t offer Condition damage/power/precision gear with heavy condition damage.

But Precision isn’t bad completely despite the lack of crit damage because i’m using the talent that gives bleeds on crits+the sigil that does the same thing.

Hence when I crit I apply bleeds

He’s right somewhat, Camelot Unleashed will not be nearly as forgiving as this game…But more to the point, I hope no one here thinks you’re going to be looked upon kindly for running entire guilds in pvp in that game…Most likely since it be heavily DAOC in terms of gaming culture, You will be limited to running just your group otherwise you’ll be laughed at for zerging.

Yea, LB is really only being used for the Barrage ability, as it becomes a Massive AOE + Bleed with the setup… Regular Attacks are alright, not super amazing…SB though if you’re behind the target is just scary.

BM Bunker still works….It actually works slightly better now just because of Weakness being so bloody overpowered.

Noticed this morning that none of the damage numbers are popping up for my Pets anymore concerning their conditions, They’re still doing damage (I made sure to watch for tics) but I can’t see their actual damage anymore

Certain Engineer Specs will absolutely kitten us two ways from sunday..

That’s honestly what has given me the most trouble out of all the classes, is a well played Engineer.

I know Xsorus dueled that ele you’re talking about and (not 100%) I think he won once, then they couldn’t kill each other afterwards. Also I’ve seen a necro kill her too.

If its the Ele i’m thinking about, Yea I remember that fight, But yea we fought i think 3 or 4 times and it stalemated everytime but once (which I won, and I forget how I did it, I think I caught her with A Drake Blast and Entangle or something at the right moment, I actually fell asleep fighting her at one point cause it was going through the motions) But yea..I was running very defensive setup… I don’t know how this build would fair again her…Probably about the same… With very long drawn out fight..

How much more per tick are you getting with a Rabid setup? I run full glass zerker and just use sharpening stone as a rotating utility with LB and it seems fine already, and I’m not losing any damage on LB1. Not sure Rabid is worth it.

I’m guessing you probably do around what? 48 to 60 per Bleed tic? I do around 98-100

I created the BM Bunker Build, BM Bunker in TPvP is why Rangers got nerfed hard this patch, thus i’m partly responsible for it.

I’m sure in the millions of people playing this game, you just happen to be the absolute first person to make a BM build. Sorry, but even I tried something similar, though slightly less tanky like 6-8 months ago. It even used s/d a/t, but was higher DPS than BM. Sorry, but you aren’t the first by any stretch of the imagination. Maybe you popularized BM, but that is about all you can take credit for (if you even did that).

That’s 8 month’s ago… you didn’t mention your build till 7 months ago.

So yes, I created the build. It wasn’t the first BM Build (I ran 30 Skirmish/30 Beast for a long while for example)
