I dislike the idea because of the old “on clone death” stuff wich has been removed for good reasons.
Yet it would be a nice addition to Deceptive Evasion, but in a form of “cast a random shatter skill at your location, if you dodge and have 3 illusions out already”. No more “on clone death” stuff please x.x!

This game isn’t good for pvp players. It lacks in depth for that to be highly competitive. Don’t act like it’s different. Guild Wars II is a rather casual focused PvE game. But somehow ANet want’s to go to ESports with it, wich will never ever happen. The only one who support this idea are the 2k stream viewers … :P
btt: I think the Mesmer is in a good state now. The precognition nerf was not required and to nerf Alacrity AND hopping altogether was a bit over the top.
It would be nice to see some buffs to old weak weapons, like GS aa, staff aa and CS or CA, or maybe some power / condi buff for the scepter. Also there are many traits wich are extremly unsatisfying and barely draw attention to expirienced players.
QoL and minor buffs are what we need. This also means fairness love for phantasms, % stats affecting the mesmer like from runes and sigil should go to phants aswell. Why should we only get 50% of Force and Accuracy or Scholar? Totally fair and square if you ask me, kappa.

I’d recommend to make Duellist’s Discipline a grandmaster trait and swap it with Mistrust. Mistrust is way to weak for a grandmaster and if you want Duellist’s Discipline, you often struggle with the need to have Phantasmal Fury aswell.

I agree it highly supports FT builds in solos. I’ll probably use FT as my main weapon in the new hot maps, maybe use rifle again as ranged option? Idk yet, I don’t really want to lose the hammer 3# + medic gyro combo. Mortar would be a decent ranged option too. Maybe some SD action? Who knows :P
But I think condi engi now simply can’t keep up with power engi in solo / hot maps. I know i know – everything works in open world etc etc blabla. Still I want to be as strong as possible and condi is not the way to go then.

Im sorry but I know this is not accurate.
I used my past few months to do some engi spreadsheet and tested the stuff ingame (sadly I have to restart because of some alacrity changes >_>). Even without alacrity and quickness I’ve had 17k dps with condi against heavy targets… I think that speaks for itself…
EDIT: Oh I see that they used pvp stuff … wich makes the whole graphs totally off reality for pve. Not every profession scales the same way with PvE gear compared to PvP gear. It’s cool they put in effort and do the work, but it’s not nearly accurate.
If you want to do it correct, just do the rotation with quickness and alacrity, write it down, calc the damage of each skill full buffed and sum it up. This is the only way since there are no dummies in PvE right now. Or you simply fight each raid boss for the true dps, but I doubt anyone accepting this because of the “I can do it better”-factor :P

Ele Dps is between 25-32k now (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VEdIfhuEe7o) and we are still struggling at around 10-15k. Most professions are around 20k, but only there because they have support stuff like rev and war. Why do WE have to suffer so much? Why the hate? Mesmer in raids is dead with this change …
It’s the biggest hit we could take. This is heavier than alacrity nerf in my opinion. It makes mes passive damage go down from 10x quickness to 5×. It’s such an incredible hard hit into the face, it’s stupid.

They didn’t want to nerf alacrity in duration because “more Chronomancers could just fix that”. They didn’t want to see more Chronomancers in a party and now they do this stupid kitten!? SERIOUSLY WTF ANET!!!
It really takes a LOT to make me rage like that. I even stayed calm with the recent precog aegis trash they pulled out of their magic trick hat. But now this!? It was individual skill that made this so amazing! It was a feature and a way that made things like efficient boonshareing even possible! Now you just remove it!?!?! Why would you do such a stupid thing … I mean all the hopping Auramancer Tempesthealers are dead aswell. WHAT IS IT YOU WANT TO ACHIEVE BY THIS!?!?
Well what is for sure is that we now all will use Calamity. Each party will now have two Mesmers and use staff or sword phantasms instead of shield since alacrity is dead anyway. Oh and SoI? Please … back to garbage tier with that signet!
Oh boy ANet – you really need to fire some of the current designers and hire new ones … this is not what this game makes fun.

How do you get that 2.0 coeff at prybar? Wiki says 2.0 too but I ’m not sure how much weapon damage a kit has. 1000?

At the hot maps, the first time you get downed, your back item disappears until you fly or dis- and reenable it manually again. After that tough, you can spam emotes as you want, they stay on your back, making them feel fixed. :|
So we can only hope ANet really read this thread over the past couple of days … I’d be really sad and disappointed about aegis version going live … It’d be just … no … unacceptable and never ever used again. It’s like deleting a skill completly.
If your druid isn’t using tons of toughness gear, you should be able to tank with 1005 toughness. As I already said – “everyone” can tank, the question is just “how good / useful” it is.
Right now Rev is probably the best tank for VG, but since it’s not a dps race at all – it really doesn’t matter too much. Rev just can withstand / absorb the active red field damage when you have to lure him there to prevent bad green field spawns after break bar phase.
For Gorsy it doesn’t really matter since you stack anyway on top of each other. So druid is the best for the smalles dps loss. But again, anyone with decent heal / block can tank with 1005 toughness.
Hammer should not have both the best defense AND strongest offense in pvp.
Agreed, let’s buff rifles offense and shields defense!

I like how you say that without giving us a reason to do so – mostly because it’s obvious WHY they should do something like this. I’d like to see more than just a drastic CDR on the shield tbh. I’d like to see some rework with the skills, more utility and defensive capability.
Maybe it’s also a problem that the pistol skills are lackluster. The auto attack still isn’t an explosive as promised, the aoe does still not cause bleed, poison dart volley still misses and is often almost no dps gain at all, would be nice if there would be some defensive utility (poison + weakness?) and skill 3 … well … that’s the only good one.

They could give it distortion in PvP to stop caps and give it blur in PvE to stop skipping the green circles.
This. It’s so simple and with the deletion of some tank amulets in PvP i see no problem in invuln there. And for PvE, invuln only messed with mechaincs blur won’t do. It’s the PERFECT SOLUTION GOD kitten IT ANET Q_Q
I really doubt they gonna go live with aegis. It’s just too stupid to be serious. I don’t know what the problem with the skill is. It’s messy with VG and op with bunker in pvp? It was fixed with invuln in pvp, but blur is better for pve. I mean after all – it’s a utility skill – ofc it has to do something in favor of your team when used o.O blergh

short answer – yes, everyone can tank. the questions is how useful it is tough.
To be fair, auto attacking is easier on the wrists. The idea of combat being based on how quickly you can hammer your keyboard isn’t a super appealing one.
In my opinion this is the most appealing combat system. It’s boring if I only use aa and from time to time a utility. It’s more satisfying if you have to use all the skills, not on cd but usefull timings, rather than just aa aa aa aa aa 2 aa aa aa aa aa 3 aa aa … yea you get the idea.
I support *aelfwe*’s statement since ANet told us in their own words: “Alacrity is too strong and we don’t want more Mesmers to join the party to fix it”. At the moment 1 Mes can sustain 100% quickness and 70% alacrity for both subgroups all by himself or something like one sub 100% alacrity, the other almost 0%. The nerf seems like they think we have perma alacrity on everyone, wich annoys me. They could at least lower the CD of Recall to support this idea of more but weaker Alacrity.

That’s not what precognition is for. Precognition is all about the 3s being safe.
You know what would be really cool too? If Gyros had some effect on death, maybe even a trait besides final salvo. Let’s say Purgy: It “absorbs” all the conditions and when it dies, he spreads them to the enemies next to him. Hm… maybe this would be too much “on death” stuff again wich I’m not so happy with. Maybe they should give this ability to the toolbelt of purgy! Poison field + 1 condition (aoe) transfered!
We also have to adress their toolbelt skills. Purgy and Shreddy both need a better TB skill and I suggest that Sneakies TB skill works on PvE Mobs aswell (Maguuma).
bunker in pvp isn’t really an argument at the time since they change it fundamentally with trinket changes.
but i agree that there is more than damage to alacrity – therefore i’m totally fine with 33%.
Give it about a month after the patch comes out and nobody will care about the nerf anymore. And seriously, 33% faster cooldowns times is still pretty good yall are just mad because you won’t have extra short cooldowns while the rest of us had to deal with normal cooldown times

Well…if they weren’t so adamant about keeping skills uniform between game modes, they could make it Blur in PvE and Distort in PvP…that would solve the raid boss mechanic abuse while still preventing capture point contribution.

So decrease every alacrity source by 50% duration and make it a boon? Interesting idea, really. But it would make it very useless without any investment in boon duration wich on the other hand kills build diversity so much that it’s a rather bad idea :/

There are fundamental issues with the gyros, resulting in those issues:
Bulky (Bulwark Gyro) shares the same fate as Blasty and Shreddy with their offensive capabilities. They all together lack of stat inheriting. They have their own stats, so also toughness for Bulky, wich makes him get more damage than intended. Blasty and Shreddy on the other hand have too low power and crit chance aswell crit damage to be reliable dps tools. Also Shreddies damaging whirl finishers do not inherit condition duration wich makes it even worse :/. So much about the first BIG issue.
The second issue is the gyros cast time for their abilities. Lets take Medy as an example: He follows you and then has to “poke” you with it’s healing body, to activate it’s skill around itself. Rather I suggest to just remove the poke animation, making it’s activation instant. That way it just has to stick close enough to you to automaticy get the biggest heal out of the skill. Right now it heals 4 times if you completly stay still (wich also doesn’t really add up if it is 14s alive and has 3s cd, it shoul hit you 5 times in that time, but hey – cast time). If you are moving a lot in combat, it may even only heal you 2 times. Same issues go for Purgy. Bulky doesn’t share the same fate because it’s instant, or a so called “aura”.
The third and probably biggest issue is the movement. This is what everyone complains about. They get behind, can’t effective heal, stealth or purge you and they struggle with cliffs even tough they could fly …. They also go to allies, wich takes time again and makes them even less effective. There are two relativly simple solutions for these problems:

Skills with a cooldown (and no activation time) have their contribution to the total dps of a rotation, build or class increased by 66% while under the effect of alacrity.
This is correct. Nothing to say more about it.
Meanwhile quickness increases your dps by 50%, if you are only using skills with a cast time higher than 0 and without CD.
And then there is the mix of those two together, wich is affected by rotation and uptime.
btw – what are we talking about here anyway?

but concentration does not work with soi, since soi just copies boons, not new generates them.
Would blur be too strong if it would not allow to cap? Sure better than aegis … Cuz aegis sux with a skill like that.
Well it could either affect every skill, just skill 2-5 or 3-5, depends on the healing numbers and probably have to play it first before i can decide.
If nerfing ONE skill turns the class into “trash”, then perhaps the bigger problem than the nerf is that the class was trash to begin with and being carried by the skill.
Warrior without banner is trash, rev without glint is trash, etc etc … such a good message kappa
Even as a non-mesmer, I can totally understand peoples feelings towards this change. This basically makes the well useless. Aegis is NOT a useful buff in real time PvP/WvW, especially with the amount unblockable attacks floating around.
