Anet called and said that this works as planned.
Since most of mesmer’s skills are random they thought that fantasms should be too : they sometimes attack and sometimes not.

We are chaos! And now we have fantasms that leave the other players dazed, just as if you throw a fake grenade in a room and laugh at seeing people jump around shouting in fear until they understand it was a joke.

This fanstasm is the same : they will never know if it attacks! It will disrupt their flow!

The mortar would be a great elite if it would autocast it’s 1-5 (whilte beeing mobile with you like Witaminka said) if you cast 1-5. Or simply – even if it just would use 1 whenever you use a skill for 30 sec? I mean god fix this elite already.

The only “nerf” was the damage against burning enemies thing. I never used that so I really don’t care xD Permavigor simply was too strong, but 50-80% is still enough. I mean we can skill speed on crit wich procs vigor too. What ever :P I don’t feel any big changes next patch I guess

• The iZerker doesn’t dodge during it’s animation.
• Sword deals about 30% more damage than a full range GS ignoring the fact of boons and cleave
• GS rota is the best if you do 2, 4, 3, 2 and switch. After 3 you probably need to do 2 aas.

Imo, the Scepter and Pistol is the best range option for a full warrior / guard team, however if there is even one condition spammer (doesn’t mean condition dd !!) then the staff iWarlock outdamages everything else, even if the staff itself deals lower damage, it’s aa passive damage is still quite strong. I use the GS only for openings against large groups or at some situations where I need a range safe precise dd, like when you need to focus a mob between others (CoF p2 like). Or sometimes at dredge fractale.

However in the end it doesn’t only depend on the enemy, it also depends on the allies if you can melee or wich ranged weapon to take.

Yea – that’s the reason why they reskin the T3- cultural one. It’s indeed not fair but the other two armor sets are ugly as ****. They should be just unique armor or even better: A very very expensive colour for any armor.

Yes the mortar has some serous problems. The damage is low, I guess it can’t crit either? Also the range has to be about 2k to be efficient, 1.2k is much too low. And the main problem: the mortar simply bugs in laggy ways: if you use a skill it sometimes won’t be used but goes on cd, then you keep firing and then the mortar “kittenes” everything out -.-’’ sometimes not even that, but if he does yo ucan be sure he misses everything. It sux and requires a fix – SINCE RELEASE!!!

Still ses no efficiency in it. You have no combo fields, nor finisher, no might stack for others, no massheals for others, no high amount of vulnerability (toolbelt skill for vulnerability is ok but too weak compared to grenades n’ bombs). It looks bretty good for soloing but even if I could choose between lets say 7.5k DpS or 5k DpS with 15 stacks vulnerability … well you should be able to calculate what is more efficient for the group. The passive damage of this build is too low.

If you plan to make excessive use of rifle’s autoattack, then yes. The problem with pure rifle-SD builds is, they have poor sustained damage. The burst is really nice but afterwards you’re stuck with the autoattack for several seconds. And one burst ususally is not enough against veterans / elites.

And that’s why you better don’t go for rifle at all :P

‘IF they use KITS?!!!!" are you serious dude? mesmers use illusions regardless if they slot phantasms in their utility slots or not, so awful comparison is awful. i use one kit, and there are fantastic builds that don’t even use them. you remind me of those shortbow rangers tho think the greatest thing in the universe is the 1 key. our main mechanic is our toolbelt just like mesmer’s main mechanic is shattering its illusions.

Show me a build that is efficient in PvE dungeons or fotm without using a kit. That’d be great.

The scepter can do some AoE to be honest, since 3 penetrates up to 5 enemies wich is pretty kitten. I guess it was 5, remember the GS has 3, but maybe the scepter has only 3 too. Not sure anymore xP. However the GS is much better than the scepter in range aoe combat, yes.

I guess it was even before I started to play my engi seriously. The grenades used to deal 50% more damage – that’s what somone told me long ago. The patch note was -33% damage I guess. Anyone can confirm this?

It’s probably the best rifle build for soloing and open world. It’s not even too bad for dungeons to be honest. You should give it a try, even if I personally really dislike it after playing it myself for a weekend.

yea – they need 3 things imo:

• much much more HP
• critable damage
• picking them up reduces the cd by x% whereas x = their current % HP. so if you pick up a turret with 10% HP, you only get 10% cdr on it, but a full turret can be “moved” easly. minimum CD is 5 sec.

Or switch kits for swiftness, wich prevents them from paw-movement too :P

If you really want to be useful for your team in PvE, better take grenades, bombs and the elixier gun or the tool kit depending on situations. Trait for explosives and vulnerability stacking and you will ouclass every rifle engineer.

Also the rifle can just carry one sigil at the same time, with pistol and shield you got bloodlust and battle aswell reflection, block and a combofinisher explosion wich can be used for heal turret heal or fire bomb might.

The rifle itself deals only good damage with 3 and 5, wich skills have a too long cd to be focused on it.

The Scepter aa is comparable to the GS’ aa in single target dps. Just that the scepter is strong in short range combat, giving you the adventage of gaining boons from allies if some are still melee. Also the scepter block hits extreamly hard aswell the channeled 3.

The fact that the aa is creating clones isn’t that bad at all. They often tank a hit and disturb the enemy. You rarely will have 3 phantasms out there wihtout loosing them. In theory the scepter sounds a bit bad with the aa but in practice it’s pretty cool.

However if you manage to get 3 phantasms you simply can do 2 aa’s, skill 3, 2 aa’s and fill with skills 2, 4 and 5 until weaponswap (you could even do 2 aa’s again in the end).

Scepter fits very well into a phantasm power build.

IF range is required, go for GS if there are just trashmobs. If the enemies are harder or if it’s a boss mob, take the staff. Nothing outdamages the iWarlock against a boss with a good amount of conditions. If there aren’t any good condition stackers like Engi, Necro etc. and the enemy is dangerous, you also may take a scepter for the block and take a useful offhand, either the pistol or the sword for another block. Mossman is a perfect example for Scepter + Sword, after he went invisible.

But in general you can melee almost everything, going for Sword + Focus and Sword + Sword is the best damage output you can make.

And what do you exactly do different to “safe” your phantasms? o.o’’

GS is just “good” for dredge or ascalon – or other trashmobs. However the Staff nearly allways outclasses the GS for the team. Scepter is underrated and a very good single target weapon. Nothing better against mossman for example.

A ranged weapon is not really required in fotm, just carry everything with you and pick what feels to be the best for yourself.

Underwater combat is different because you can’t aim for anything in the “air”. And the result? You just focus on one target, you can’t aim between multiple ones to deal more damage. It’s easy-peasy but it’s weaker.

Nope – I really like the mechanic and you are able to aim for the target you want. You also are able to aim for where the enemy is walking or between two.

Just a visual bug. If you cast it the CD will start at 12 sec. At least it should :o xD

I don’t know how much the staff does since I don’t play a guard. However the might stacks grant good passive damage and may be great for an opener aswell I like to share the might with my Mesmer if I see a guard is using the staff. But what I actually want to say about the staff that makes him compareable to the GS: The situation. I would punch every single guard in his face if he wouldn’t use a staff in TA. There are sure other situations where a staff can be so overwhelming. Wasn’kitten staff skill that blocks movement of enemies? The “window wall and enemies act likes flies” thing? Is there something better in the ascalon or dredge fractale?? Well I don’t know, I don’t play guard… yet :P But next on my list^^

Yes, that’s a silly reason and I remember using this argument myself once at the CoF p2 discussion. But I won’t support any weapon for that anymore. One does not take the GS for tagging, it’s just for specific situations.

True, it isn’t. But I even if the boss was op as hell I would never take a GS against a boss. I’d go for Scepter/Sword or Pistol (or Focus if reflection is handy) and a Staff of course. A boss isn’t the application field of a GS. Sure it sux there.

Aswell if somone doesn’t answer you, you don’t know if he ignores you or accepts his fault and doesn’t want to talk about it anymore. Uhm … back to topic I just can say what I allways tell you: I think the GS is bad in general, like the staff or the scepter. But they all deserve a space in my inventory, since no ther weapon than the staff is better against dangerous bosses, or nothing feels greater than block the mossmans axe with scepter 2, aswell nothing makes me happier than a good phantasmal zerker against an army of dredges as an opener. A sword is better in general, aswel pistol, focuse and oh sword. But there are situations where they are far behind the other weapons.
