“Mentoring engineers / mesmers and showing you what you can do with your fantastic class!
Just pm me for my advice! Always eager to help!”
I got all the weapons and 2 armor pieces (gloves + boots) since they surprisingly look good on my unique armor set. Also the agony resist is required for frac 50. I probably will create one more piece since I “just” got 65 AR and 50 needs 70 AR for the 1% dot i guess. Glad that I’ve bought tons of materials at the first day (6g material investment for each damast) since they are worth now almost 14g.
The 5% higher stats at the armor is pretty much like 0% damage increase tough. However if I will have 1HP once I know it were my boots / gloves xP
I personally prefer 10/30/0/30/0 since the additional utility from a 3rd inspiration trait combined with +17.25% phantasm damage is more worth than 3-9% more damage for yourself (imo).
Since Illusionists Celerity has been moved to T2 from T3, I was playing 10/20/0/25/15 but it felt pretty weak so I also tested 20/20/0/30/0 with signet cdr to increase our healing skill efficiency. I played it too for long enough and I guess 10/30/0/30 is still unbeatable and simply the best option in damage and utility aswell flexibility.
Elite content? Ha! No… then they would all have been for lv80. This guy has a great idea. A low level learning dungeon. With easy to dodge attacks, but you should dodge or you die. Some jumping fun etc. Awesome idea.
You don’t have to be lv30+ at all. A Mesmer gets “viable” at 40+ so should now every dungeon be 40+? Oh wait engineer has to wait till 60 if he wants to use grenades. Are there any heavy traits combinations? Lets make all the dungeons 80!!
No this is not how it works. That’s why he said easy dungeon for low players to learn stuff. And the idea is great since you get punished like a little girl if you do the first time a normal dungeon especially if you are the recommended level.
like+1
If you meant runes of strenght, no I haven’t.
I just hit level 80 on my warrior and I’ve started gearing him up. I just realized that warrior do more dps and better support. I don’t think I will be playing my engi on the near future. Sorry.
let’s better not talk about passive damage…
PvE? No question what you do – don’t go condition damage, go for crits.
Pretty fun if you can make use of more reflection like the harpy fractale or the fire shaman.
10/20/25/15 is pretty much all you want. You almost need every weapon (or can make good use of them) in certain fractales. Only the torch stays useless.
You should fix your link Can’t see a vid ^^
EVERY weapon would be silly. Ele with Pistol = Mesmer, Warrior with Scepter = Guard and so on.
However adding a few weapons is going to happen and it makes sense and is cool (Engi hammer, Ranger rifle, …)
So I guess it’s for WvW or PvP? ^^
“15char” can be replaced by pressing the “space” key a few times ;3 btw ^^
Yes … YES …. YEAAASSSS!!!! HAHAHA TAKE THAT YOU STUPID UNICORN!!!
O.o’’ That’s all I wanted hue hue
:P I also like the new one
Never try to kill the kitten in Ebonhawke … it’s a mistake …
I guess since sigils aswell the main stats still count if you are wearing a kit – yes. Otherwise it would be a huge design fail. Didn’t test it but I’m 99% sure it works :P
When you trait for the pistol it becomes very viable due the line damage and bonuses, if not, then you are using kits anyway. I see no problem there.
Yes
Pistol 1 sux but thats ok since it’s a “1” skill, gap filler.
Pistol 2 too wide spread, even misses sometimes in close combat >_>
Pistol 3 is ok.
Pistol 4 often does nothing while moving around and enemies run behind you, going on short cd instead of fireing sideways. Also the damage is pathetic if not full condition based and melee.
Pistol 5 needs more range and hold. Or less CD and smaller aoe.
Rifle requires 2nd sigil slot to be viable.
Rifle skills overall are awesome.
Shield is awesome too, less cd maybe (20%).
Turrets crit
recycle a turret should reduce the CD by X % while X = % of the max HP the turret had: 100% HP = 100% cdr, 20% HP = 20% cdr (dungeon viable, moving them around).
Toolbelt discharge should aim for marked targets even if the skill is not homing (grenade spam, heal skills, …)
iWarlock attack anyway needs a homing fix. It travels on the ground and often falls into the abyss instead of directly to the target. If a target is moving and stops (or vice versa) while the warlock shoots it misses. Hate it.
And ye Warden – starring contest op >_>
Somone explain plz
Well they just require some minor fixes. Let’s take golem, I too stay on the chest and spam GS 1 and 4 while doing some other stuff. Dunno why a mesmer uses the portal since they got stability … but nvm. The boss would be fixed so easy when the gun attack would affect a wider range so you can’t outrange the boss with 1200 range anymore. He should hit you between 1000 and 2000 range, and the static field between 0 and 1000, that would make him more interesting. Also faster attacks and he’s almost fixed.
There should be bosses who are able to take down with a few players, I do not enjoy Tequatl that much since it’s often not coordinated enough and that annoys me. Other bosses should get stronger but still doable like the Fire Shaman. However spamming aa isn’t the idea…
fixed? was it bugged? o.o
As for allways: direct damage zerker main dmg + bleeding as a nice addition. It’s totally ok like this.
warrior… hundered blades… (Greatsword)
No other skill in the game has a higher DPS multiplier on a single burst.
Infact the skill is so HAX at early levels, it allows the warrior to face stomp though zones 5-6lvls higher then what he is, and still take down an enemy with 1 burst.Eviscerate used to come close with AXE, however it was Nerf’d to half its current potential at game launch.
Ive seen some Zerk Warriors pull over 50k Hundred Blade Spike when target is CC’d and War is mighted 25stacks.
Of course we all know the 1 major drawback to HB… the fact ur rooted.
Cute – allways the 100b hype. rolleyes It’s just a big number and many players get misleaded by this. Howerer the DpS isn’t that amazing at all. How long is the cast time again? 3 or 3 1/2 sec? Even the better option (3) would result in 16k DpS (48k on cleave) wich is kinda normal for 25 stacks might.
Wanna see how my engineer hits like a train with 25 stacks might? He also causes 25 stacks vulnerability granting higher passive damage and shurely has the same single target direct damage as the warrior. If there are 4-5 targets to hit he outdamages every class with a happy smile with his up to 40k DpS with basic attacks (5x 8k bombs)…
Just wanna say – the axe basic attack doesn’t deal much less damage than 100b. Especially since the axe is able to have +5% dmg / +10% dmg with its sigil wich is (back to topic) unfair.
I am more confused about the Sylvari who turns somehow into a Human o.O
Scholar Runes or Ruby Orbs and for Sigils Battle, Force, Slaying, Night or Bloodlust. Pick one and two of them.
Seriously? Weak humans, inedible vegetabiles, ugly rats and braindead giants – pff – CHARR ARE THE BEST AND FLUFFIEST RACE EVAAAAA!!!
(=^.^=)
I just started to wonder this because with my engineer there is no reason to take the rifle since I cannot have +5% dmg AND sigil of battle then … this sux pretty hard.
So it gets fixed? Great!
The title almost says it all. Why do 2-handed weapons only grant one sigil? I mean it’s a huge negtive point if you ask me. You could theoretical have +5% dmg in every 2h weapon if you use 2x 1h ones. I haven’t seen a class where I have to admit that 2h weapons have stronger skills in general – they haven’t. So what’s the idea behind it? Is there an idea? Or jsut a design fail like bleeding?
greez
10/20/0/25/15. Empowered Illusions, Phantasmal Fury, Blade Training, Glamor cooldowns, Warden’s Feedback, Compounding Power.
Sword/Sword+Focus, Feedback, Time Warp. Signet of Inspiration for boon-doubling is great. Pick a stun-break of your choice — Blink is great for mobility; Decoy has stealth; Mantra of Concentration has AOE stability.
Swap the focus for a pistol if you don’t need reflection from Warden; switch the Warden trait for Medic’s Feedback or phantasm HP or Restorative Mantras w/ Mantra of Pain spam if your team needs more healing.
Berserker gear, Ruby orbs. Scholar gives a little more personal DPS but the 10% bonus doesn’t work on phantasms so it’s kind of a wash. Ruby is cheap and good.
This is by far the best post here. If you require range so bad, just use a scepter with a pistol. If you need 1200 range the staff is as viable as the GS, depends on your allies and condition spam. However try to stay with the sword, it deals about the double damage of the GS.

Dragonite on dungeons? No – Dragonite should drop on Events in open world to make them attractive again. The OW is empty and that’s so sad, especially if you look into all the detailed work ANet did on conversations and hidden stuff <3
I would really enjoy backpieces affecting kits. For example if you wear a fractale back piece and show it it becomes invisible during the time you are wearing a kit, but the kit has a different appearence in fotm style. Then give us exotic backpieces for 1k dungeon tokens and many different styles – é voilà! I know you like the idea, cuz our kits are sometimes so ugly and won’t fit to our equip at all >_> geometric kits for asura, leafs for sylvari, you know what i mean.
Btw something else: I would not recommend using a rifle in first place, since you are giving away a sigil slot (fail game design). You are either missing battle sigil (6 stacks might permanently since it works on kit switch) or +5% dmg, or bloodlust wich results in a huge buff for bombs and grenades and everything else.
There aren’t any endgame viable PvE builds without kits tbh. Sure it “works” to play with p/p and hgh but … it’s teamplayunfriendly and ineffective. Every class has their kittenty weapons – ours are the common weapons, and the good weapons are the kits
Rifle is kinda melee, Pistol 2 too, bombs, grenades can be short range, elixier gun has it’s melee uses too. Just stay in the middle of the enemy and spam all the blinds you got, fire fields and all the combo finishers.
→ Big Ol’Keg
→ Fire Bomb
→ Shield 4
→ Elixier Gun 4
And everyone’s got a very long lasting 9 stack of might.
The staff (aswell the scepter) are both excellent power / zerker weapons
Just because the staff aa is about the same with power as with malice. But 3 and 5 are clearly much stronger with power. You still can use scepter / sword + staff in a power build. The direct damage of their skills are scaling better too.
The skill description is often misleading players because they see a condition next to the normal damage. But even if you would deal 1000 power damage and 4000 condition damage with a skill, and you had the choice between 3000 power and 4000 condi or 1000 power and 5000 condi, the total damage is still better with power. I hope you can follow my poor example xD. Conditions scale too bad compared to power, and the conditions still deal damage on a power build, but they are a nice add on to the main damage, however on condition build both numbers are just medicore.
(PvE)
Yup for leveling p/p is pretty ok. Also since you only have 1 or 2 stats instead of 3 on your equip, the condition damage scales pretty well compared to berserker (power/precision/critdmg).
*edited it – plz edit your quote and quote my edit :o it’s 5 sec vulnerbility xD
Well I’m assuming I’m aaing while waiting for my swap cd and after i casted all the other stuff. What else?
is that the “I get pretty much op kitten during stealth” thing?
1 stack vulnerability for how long? I guess it was 5 sec? Now image the pug standard dps of 5k per member (kinda low i know but lets talk about the worst case ok? :P). This results into a 25kø dps. thats 250k over 5 sec. 1% more damage results into 1’250 additional damage. So – that silly little stack of vulnerability deals about 5 times the damage of the bleed in the same time. It’s like a DoT that deals 250 damage per sec.
So I would switch the Medium-Bad Bleed-Vulnerability thing
And no there are not allways 25 stacks vulnerability on the enemy – in general the stacks stuck at 15-20, including the normal mesmer sword attack.
(edited by Xyonon.3987)
Well – I don’t play much WvW but … WHAT IS PU ?
Staff is probably the best weapon a mesmer has, overall.
Nope, that’s the Sword
If I had a pistol offhand I just wouldn’t use it, bomb 1 deals more damage than the whole burn and bomb 5 is the same as the pistol 5 just bigger. However you can never have enough stuns and explosions.
hm … +105 power / condition damage for the whole party or burn …
hm … 2x interruption of a strong attak or hold – pretty even here
hm … reflection or … nothing?
hm … block or … nothing?
my opinion ^^
Well, I really hope they do somedays. It really makes no sense for me to have just 1 sigil in a weapon that isn’t stronger at all. However I still sometimes use the rifle for some pulls and jumps. But in general a pistol with battle sigil (+3 stacks might for 20 sec on weapon swap wich includes swapping kits! (10 sec cd) = 6 stacks permamight) and a 5% damage sigil on the shield outdamages the rifle already. Rifle would be sigil of battle too. The 5% of the shield affect all your bombs, grenades what ever But I sometimes like to loose 5% damage just for … well … fun with the rifle
Traits? Yes there are important or useful traits. I don’t know anymore where they are but some like:
That’s the most important stuff.
If you really like the staff that much, what do you use in the other set? I doubt it’s staff + nothing/nothing Cuz staff is a very strong zerker weapon due the warlock.
That’s exactly what I said. I would never ever play anthing with condition damage anymore in PvE. I was first condi engi, it sucked so hard compared to power. Same for necro and mesmer. In the beginning it’s awesome since you have just 1 or 2 different stats pimping – but with 3, power, precision and crit damage scale with each other and gives you a stronger gameplay.
I like people who say “I play to have fun!”. I really accept that statement, but I hate it when they say “my build is stronger!” if it clearly isnt (I don’t mean you do so at this statement). I won’t judge you for playing condition mesmer, I more respect it. However to tell you, you can easy get 2k condition damage if you really want to focus on it. I did it myself once. It was fun, yes, but not very useful in dungeons especially fotm.
My power build phantasm stats are 0 condmg, 60% crit chance, 2200 power, 1000 toughness, 250 healing power, 18k health and 110% crit dmg. Basic attacks deal 2k 2k 3.5k unbuffed. Sword cleave. Takes you ages to outdamage even that. Now if the warden hits for 12k on 3 enemies you will never outdamage me anymore unless I dc :P
^ this thread is obvisouly mainly about pve
Open the chest at … kitten … how is it called in english? Where the big toxic flower was!
Also golem dies extremly fast and grants 20-25 dagonites aswell 2 chests. aim for him if you have no tme or don’t wanna pve.
You should make no use of p/p in PvE :P in general every 1 skill is terrible on the engi (except kits). So you mainly should use bombs for damage, later grenades (there is a trait that grants +50% grenades thrown (lv60)) and just use the main weapon for some burst or combo fields.
You should run either Pistol/Shield or Rifle.
The rifle is for aoe damage and some nice cc, you can hold, or make space against bosses with 2 and 4 and against groups 3 and 5 deal a very high amount of dmg.
The pistol is just for 2 in short range combat for some single target burst. You may throw 3 in since it’s nearly instant.
The shield gives you some utility → 5 is a nice line stun and 4 reflects projectiles and acts as a combo finisher.
So in general you cast your big ol’bomb, then the firebomb (firefield) and if the field is active, double cast shield 4. So you got 2 combo finisher explosion, spreading might buffs to everyone. I also recommend the elixier gun for condition removal to allies and another explosion finisher aswell a heal field.
Any questions?
PvE Staff is often not very useful. However against Bosses who are a threat like the molten bro’s it’s superior. Also if you got 1 ele, engi or necro in your team the phantasm will deal tons of damage due the conditions. You can start with 5, 2, 3, signet, 3, 4, swap in the first few sec and go melee with sword to deal tons of damage. You got 3 phantams out and 2 of them crit for 10-15k. Also the iWarlock is alotta fun against world bosses like dwayna → highest crit was 25k here <3.
