Xystus Furtim – Human Theif
Server: Stormbluff Ilse
It seems to be something with the local.dat file being corrupted. I can delete the file and be fine for weeks. Then eventually something happens and I start getting the bug during the big world events. Again, I delete the local.dat and I’m good for weeks at a time.
Chests are once per character per day. So, if you have five level 80 characters, you could do “the Claw of Jormag” five times in one day and get 5 chests.
I would try the following:
Under my documents is a folder “Guild Wars 2”. In it, should be a file, local.dat
Delete that file and launch the game.
If that doesn’t fix it, try running the repair utility with the -repair command.
Gullveig Ferox
Dark Asuran Greatsword
Crafted Draconic Set(Blood/Harvest Gold/Lead colors)
You can send me all your gold! It’s as good as anything else you can do.
Since it is a 32-bit application, the largest unsigned number that can be used is 2^32 or 4,294,967,295 (0 counts are the first number). If it is less than that, a cap has been placed on it.
That is odd. I would suggest the following
Under my documents is a folder “Guild Wars 2”. In it, should be a file, local.dat
Delete that file and launch the game.

This. This this this.
I am ALWAYS willing to help people who ask for it, but I’m getting really tired of people posting complaints on the forums without actually asking for help first. I haven’t even seen a “How do I…” thread in the Dungeon subforum in a very long time.
YES YES YES!
I don’t mind taking time to explain stuff in game. PLEASE tell me you’ve never done something before, rather than blindly run in and waste everyone’s time.
While I am nowhere near a top notch player; I am probably better than the average. I find these new AC Ex even easier. I do not run with a group, but pug 99% of my dungeon runs.
It comes down to two things:
1) Knowing your class
2) Knowing the encounters
Here is what I’ll say about the Spider Queen:
1) Don’t rush
2) Know how / when more little spiders will drop
The room is divided into two parts. First is the main floor and the second is the raised half where the two large Gargoyle heads hand. Do NOT go up the stairs. Clear the room out first and leave the little spiders on the stairs. This will give you plenty of time to clear out the heads (avoid hitting any more little spiders). Once a few on the raised platform die a wave of little ones will drop. Avoid being near the stairs and clear out the main floor. By then, then Queen should drop. Clear out the little ones and then her.
Don’t be afraid to change your utilities. You don’t have to run the uber dps ones at all times. On my thief I like to use:
1) Hide in Shadows (heal + condition removal)
2) Signet of Agility (cures conditions on me AND nearby allies)
3) Smoke Screen (reflects the poison spit)\
My guardian is a shout build, so pure of voice completely negates most of the junk in that room.
I haven’t done it since this patch. But if you make the same choices; at the end you should all receive a prompt to choose completion.
Don’t forget to upgrade your Aquatic Breather and Rune that as well. When you go in water, you automatically switch helms and will lose out on your bonus.
Same event is bugged on Stormbluff Isle. A Similar one in Wayfarer Foothills near Vendrake’s WP. Not the snowman event, but a carrier just south.
Try the events in Wayfarer, there are several that work well.
Vitality is your friend, as is condition removal.
I would look at spec that is built around 0/30/0/15/0 and replace the Beserker armor for Valkyrie for a starter.
I’m a PvE’er, so I’ll defer to others who have more experience.
Bags are multiples of three. Receiving 16 tokens from bags should not happen. Also, 10 hour break does not negate diminishing returns. Only does it reset after a 24 hour period. Normally this resets at 7pm EST / 4pm PST / 00:00 UTC.
The DR goes something like: 60/20/10/5/2
You can max out at 4 bags per run (Troll/Kholer/Spider/King).
Assuming DR…
Start: 276
Path1: 20 tokens + 4 (bags, opened only 2): 302
Path1 again(with help from 10h+other things): 20 tokens + 4bags +2 unopened: 340
Bought scepter: 40
The math can technically work out :P

THanks EzRemake – that’s especially useful to know! Is zerker armor/valk trinks (all rubied) much weaker in terms of damage/defense? (just asking because I can get zerks armor fairly easily from CoF runs)
Xystus – how does your dmg hold up like that?
It holds up fairly well. It won’t be top dps, but I consider this my fun/survivability build.
I posted this the other day: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/thief/Need-Advice-on-Thief-Builds/first#post1531798
I like the extra blind from Shadow Shot and Daze from Headshot (should be very useful on Rumbulus in AC Path 3; I always use it on Breeders).
I have a similar build. 0/30/25/15/0. I run full Beserker for PvE.
With that said: I carry a spare set of Valkyrie and Knight armor, and Knight jewelry.
Just stack ontop of him and never worry about it.
Yep. Best time was like <7 minutes.
Ingame one would be even better.
However, gw2lfg is filling the gap nicely
I just did Path 2.
4 people (not a full group). However, everyone was level 80 and in exotics. Easily completed the instance.
For PvE: mobs are setup with a “pool” of skills you can steal. Different mobs have different sets.
I just posted on another thread about my build. It incorporates survivability. Take a look at it:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/thief/Need-Advice-on-Thief-Builds/first#post1531798
Stacking bleeds are great if you’re the only one. However, if multiple people are stacking bleeds (thief/thief or thief/necro). You run the possibility of wasting DPS. Only one stack of bleeds is allowed and it tops at 25. This is one reason I went to a Power/Precision/Critical Damage build. However, don’t let that stop you. Try it out, see how you feel.
I would go 25/30/0/0/15 and stack conditional damage on everything.
First of all, I’m not saying this is the best spec in anyway or how you should play. This is how I play and what I find fun. Maybe you can glean some ideas from this.
I used to play glass cannon (25/30/0/0/15). I then moved to a 25/30/0/15/0. I liked the vitality and extra dodge for stacking strength.
Now I am 0/30/25/15/0. For the most part, I have just enough survivability to take one big direct hit and dodge out if I’m not paying attention.
I run full Beserker (Pow/Pre/Crit) Dagger/Pistol+Short Bow. Also, I carry other armor/jewelery/weapons to allow versatility in situations. My Sigils are Fire/Force and my Runes are Divinity.
I choose the Signet of Agility over the other signets. Mainly because it refills my endurance and removes a condition. Having the ability to dodge 6 times in a row is nice.
Both Shadow Refuge and Blinding Powder will stealth you and allies near you; which can help is sticky situations. Shadow Refuge also provides “Combo Field: Dark”; when using the Short Bow inside, I gain Life Steal. If my health is low and my heal is on cool down; I dodge out, drop Refuge and plink away with the Short Bow to gain health.
D/P is neat concept. Black Powder(Combo Field: Smoke) + Heartseeker(Combo Finisher: Leap) = Combo Stealth
Then I follow up with a Back Stab.
Between stealthing/dodging/other stuff, I keep up a healthy level of might. This helps make up for some of the lost DPS in the first trait row. I feel the added survivability means an overall DPS gain, because I’m not spending as much time down. Ultimate goal, of course, is to never be downed and never miss a dodge. But I’m not perfect, so this works for me.

I would assume (you know what happens when you assume); that 2 should be removed.
I did my normal run of CoF 1/2 last night. I will admit, it was 2 easy dungeons; therefore a very small sample size.
I play a D/P + SB thief and use a lot of stealthing. I saw absolutely no difference with this “nerf”.
When I stealth, mobs stop attacking me.* When I came back out, I was fine. For the most part, I try not to be the one with the most toughness; if I am, it will be an interesting run. When the mobs turn and look at me, I roll out and switch to SB to drop my threat.
To me, a thief means being versatile. I know I am not playing a WoW Rogue who always stands in melee, swinging two weapons.
*some mobs stay in an area and use an PBAoE that seems like they still attack you; like the Graveling Scavengers’ knockdown ability with repeated attacks.
…The fight can be broken down like this:
Step 1: DPS
Step 2: See Red Circles
Step 3: Count to 2
Step 4: Dodge
Step 5: Repeat
This is exactly that I tell everyone. I do mess up time to time, but 90% of the time it works. I would add, use the dodge key, not double tap directions.
A few people (thankfully not me) had the same thing happen last night after Tequatl on Stormbluff Isle.
I remember this being an issue a long time ago and thought it was fixed.
I was fighting Tequatl the Sunless yesterday and it happened for the first time in ages.
At a seemingly random point in the event, I lost all sound and it was replaced with a oscillating boop sound.
I am running Windows 7 fully patched and using a Logitech G930 headset, latest drivers.
I’ve seen similar things happen in Ascalonian Catacombs; specifically with the Graveling Scavengers and their knockdown bite. I’ll pop “Stand Your Ground” and still get knocked-down. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/%22Stand_Your_Ground!%22
This could also be a timing issue; difference between when the server thinks I activated it and when the Scavenger hits me with its ability.
Just did a Game Repair and logged in again. Got kicked out again,
Code=7:11:3:189:101
Not worth it, in my opinion.
Not re-rolling. Still have fun on my thief.
Do you need to be the Flavor of the Month (FOTM) build to have fun? If so, you’ll always be scared of the nerf bat.
Honestly, find a class that has a playstyle you like and work your way to perfecting it.
Yep. Just did it after I got home. It’s a new bug and stopped progress in the instant.
Interesting; this maybe a new bug.
I know over the past month, I’ve seen some things with him: here is what I find works…
1) Stop all attacking until he charges (including letting the NPC die). Seen him get into states where he will not change; and this seems to fix it.
2) Make sure to dodge. Sometimes if he charges and connects with a player first, he never reaches the pillar.

Pray,
I think you missed what he is saying (he is having the same issue as me). I am already in game. My password is fine and the account is not compromised. While playing, randomly I get an error popup saying “Invalid Password” and it closes my game. Never once did I enter a password; it appears to be more connection to the authentication server issues.
Just so everyone knows. I changed my password, I use the good authenticator, scanned my system with my virus scanner and Spybot; all clean.

Did all the above. Still get it. Again, this is in game. Wondering if its more of an authentication thing the servers.
