The browser is actually correct. But in this case, it is safe. The site is “help.guildwars2.com”, but its certificate is issued to zendesk.com; the company who is supporting ArenaNet.
It depends on what you are doing and what settings you have setup.
Could you post a screenshot of your settings? There are 2 options that can limit your FPS.
Not everyone is seeing lag. Therefore its hard to pinpoint the exact issue. I recommend running the game adviser and attaching the log(specifically the part that uses the “pathping” command). The one user who posted it, is showing massive packet loss going to the servers.
The problem is, this isn’t perfect; as it uses a separate port/protocol than GW2 uses.
Yosika,
Since Windows Vista, the kernel protect hardware from applications. Therefore a BSOD usually points towards a drivers problem or hardware issue. The game engines are different and will use hardware resources differently; that is not unusual for one game to cause something, while others don’t.
While not perfect, you may want to look at this program for reading the BSOD
http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/blue_screen_view.html
Hi Xystus, thank you for replying to my question, i already sent a ticket but without any of the information the game adviser provides, should i send a reply email or anything?
I can’t see those tickets, as I am just a lowly player If you could attach it, the community maybe able to offer some support as well.
Are you running the game as an administrator? That is common for this error:
“VerifyAccess failed or denied access with 0×80070716 – 1”
Could also have memory issues or your GFX card maybe dying. Since Vista, the Windows Kernel is designed to protect hardware from applications. Usually BSOD is going to be a driver issue or a hardware issue.
Some other things you can try:
1) Scan windows to check for corruption using “sfc /scannow” command
http://pcsupport.about.com/od/toolsofthetrade/ht/sfc-scannow.htm
2) Update/repair your DirectX (http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35)
3) Make sure your windows is fully up to date.
Tiguii,
Try running http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html and see what temps you get. Most laptop GPUs can run 80C+ for short times, normally it should be under 70C.
Depending on how old the computer is and how it has been handled, you may need to reapply thermal paste or get a replacement heat sink. Depending on the laptop brand, it may be a complete pain to do.
I would start off by at least using a can of compressed air and try and get as much dust out. Also, but a laptop pad. I use a Coolermaster X3 and it works well.
Never game with it on your lap or other soft surfaces, as they can block air intake ports.
Please run the “Game Adviser” listed in this thread: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/How-to-Submit-a-Technical-Support-Ticket-2/first#post3236883
And attach the file in a reply. The attach option can be found under “More posting & formatting options…”
I’ve upgraded to the 331.82(because BF4 now does driver checking =/). So far my FPS is normal and haven’t seen any loss.
I would suggest when installing drivers, choose “custom install”. When you see the box checked for a “clean install”, check that.
Solar is correct. I would also highly recommend staying with Intel/nVidia and avoiding AMD.
I would open a support ticket then.
At the top, click support, then when the page loads click “submit a request” in the top left.
So this is what the Program gave me:
It looks like you don’t have your video card drivers installed.
Goto nvidia.com and get the latest drivers for your card.

You could try saving the game to an external hard drive and re-installing using the latest installer.
I would take a look at the DirectX install. Run the installer http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35 followed by Windows Updates.
I would do a “sfc /scannow” http://pcsupport.about.com/od/toolsofthetrade/ht/sfc-scannow.htm
Have you run the “-repair” option?
Also, if you could, run the game adviser here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/How-to-Submit-a-Technical-Support-Ticket-2/first#post3236883
And attach the results to a reply.
Haha no problem dude, I’m always interested in what other people have to say!
Although I’m running GW2 as Admin now and I didn’t have any errors so far. I’ll keep you guys posted
Basically, the game needs admin privileges to write to the GW2 folder; since its under Program Files(windows protected directory). Let us know if you still get that error.
You can only have 2 professions at one time. You should be able to change back; it shouldn’t switch like that.
If you go to your hero page (h key), click on the crafting icon along the left side, what does it say?
Also, have you checked your other characters? Maybe you learned it on another character?
Sorry for that. I usually see people whining about making new posts when there are already at least 10 with the same topic around. Search funktion ftw bla bla.
The problem is, your issue is about disconnects. He has an entirely different issue.
That, and it gets annoying trying to solve multiple problems in a single thread.
Please, start your own thread; if you have an ArenaNet.log file, attach it. Also run the -diag command and post that as well.
Thanks
Could be. Try running “-repair” to see if it shrinks it.
Grabnok,
You can always attach it as a file under “More posting & formatting options”.
“VerifyAccess failed or denied access with 0×80070716 – 1”
Are you running the launcher as an administrator?
Sounds more like a problem with Windows since I suspect the game merely uses whatever language support the OS provides them as input. Does the correct characters come out in say Notepad?
Yes. I can type normally outside of the game. It’s only in game that the characters get messed up. And there are some really common characters that are messed up too like ni (you) and ma (a question particle).
I think it depends on the Font the game is using. I’m not sure if its using a custom font, or pulling another font from Windows that may not support those characters.
I’m actually liking it for longer distant runs. Stack it, hit retreat and save yourselves; you get a huge bonus. I lay it out ahead of me and usually get 1 or 2 ticks; I’ve been able to keep a permastack.
nVidia has always been odd with their installer packages. Sometimes it works fine; other times something gets in the way.
However, I’ve been using their new software to install/update; it seems to work well. It does a full remove and then install of the drivers. One thing I do, I choose “custom install” when prompted and check the box “clean install”.
Notebook cards aren’t as powerful as their desktop counterparts. A 740m isn’t equal to a desktop 740. Same with the CPUs, they use lower wattage and are less powerful.
I game on a notebook as well, I usually go off the “auto-detect”. I still pull acceptable framerates and it looks good. I can turn off post processessing to get some more frames.
Just tried that one a few days ago. Got a brand new SSD, installed my Win7 prof 64bit on it, updated drivers bla bla. Downloaded the whole game again and it still happens.
Turning down graphics to minimum helps to reduce dc rate on full maps by about 20% but then the game looks just really ugly. Seriously even wow looks better than.
I do Tequatl 3-4 times a day and on every second run i get an dc (and about 5-20 other players also on ts on the same time and on very different locations like usa, gb, ger…).
Since we already created an overflow and the main map is hard capped you get no chance to get in again and get the reward. Also is waiting on the dc´d client for the event to get finished not an option, since it takes longer than 5minutes to kill him and than you still dont get the big chest.I will give this game a bit more time (again!).
I paused this game three times already. Every time for about 3 months, but if this continues i finally will move on. That point is reached by now.
If i wanted to play a game with an unstable client and crappy servers i could have chosen any free to play mmo (those at least try to make it look like that they have an support).
Please don’t hijack other player’s thread. Start your own and provide any crash logs you have.
Try using the option “/clientport 80”
Got the same thing.
16 —- 25/ 25 =100% 17/ 25 = 68% 206-127-157-86.plaync.com [206.127.157.86]
That just means the protocol is blocked. 100% loss would mean you would never be able to connect.
Look at all the hops before ANET/NCSOFT. They are in 20-40% range.
Check your Firewall; the updated client may have been flagged because it changed and those ports are now blocked. Or try using the “/clientport 80” option.
Have you tried using “/clientport 80” option? Sounds like something is blocking ports 6112 or 6600.
Thanks for the comment but it seems to be a very very drastic solution.
I will have to re-install all my other games, plus I got a lot of stuff for school on this machine so I don’t want to re-install windows right now
Unfortunately, the error itself is coming from Windows and not the game. Its either Windows or hardware related.
Some other things you could try; removing/reseating your RAM and Video card. Re-install your video card drivers(choose custom install and click the “clean install” option.)
Having disconnects and client crashes all the time since about 3 or 4 weeks.
Especially when a map is full. 5 up to 20 players (all on ts) get kicked from the map (dc) and can´t join in again, they will land in an overflow.
When you do the big metaevents like tequatl and get an dc on every second run… well lets just say the dc victims are not very happy about that.
Get that fixed soon please.P.s. i play on minimum settings on an high-end pc and it still happens.
Uploaded the whole game again, did not help either.Btw. playing on minimum settings is no fun at all, but it reduces crashes by about 20%.
Please do not bump/highjack old threads. Start a new thread with your ArenaNet.log posted for help.
Running a hammer build, I’m getting perma-protection. Retreat is great for mobility and aegis.
You have to remember also, last Wintersday the game still had culling. With the removal of culling, it requires more RAM. You need to lower your settings or increase your amount of memory the game can access(by re-installing as 64-bit).
What did the “sfc /scannow” say?
Delete your local.dat file located at
%APPDATA%\Guild Wars 2\
and run a “-repair” option
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Command_line_arguments
Ultimately, you need to re-install windows as 64-bit. You are not even using the full 4GB of ram you have. Depending on what else you are running, you are hitting a hard memory cap. Either in the processes of physical memory.
Try using the “/clientport 80” command line option
Generally, your crashes seem to be Windows errors. The game is trying to use resources and windows is saying “No”. I would make sure you run your game as an administrator.
On top of that, update any drivers you have.
Also try the following:
1) run a scan of the windows OS
http://pcsupport.about.com/od/toolsofthetrade/ht/sfc-scannow.htm
2) Run a repair on GW2.dat file using the “-repair” command.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Command_line_arguments
Your ArenaNet.log is an old version and does not have the latest crash information.
Type the following into your Windows search bar(click start button).
%APPDATA%\Guild Wars 2\
And attach that ArenaNet.log file.
c0000005 is actually a stupidly generic windows error. Windows is basically saying, “I can’t do that, because I don’t have permissions”.
First thing, would be to make sure your running as an administrator.
Try running it over clientport 80
this has some outdated videos(using older builds), but still very good.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/guardian/Guardian-Video-Guide-for-Fractals-Shown-at-48/first#post3174682
I would highly recommend the Hammer build for fractals. With a good I know and trust, I go full zerker. With a random pug group, I get Knights Gear/Weapon w/Zerker trinkets.
Head, chest, legs Assassin; shoulders, gloves, boots Zerker.
Yo guys,
Not sure if this is the right one, but this is what I found under appdata —> Roaming ---> Gw2
That’s the correct one. For some reason I can’t open the attachment. =/
Have you tried a “-repair” or “-image”. I would suggest using “-image” first, then trying “-repair”.
Could be a number of things. Are you on an SSD or normal harddrive? If a normal hdd, have you defragged recently?
Also, try a “-repair” option and delete your local.dat file under
%APPDATA%\Guild Wars 2\local.dat
Same problem. Game crashes in the crowded places. Attaching my GW2 test.
Please include the crash log.
Hey guys,
I have been playing GW2 since the release and I never really encountered many crashes.
But since like a month or something I’m crashing atleast 2 times a day.
A simple restart once isn’t a big problem but restarting the game twice in 15 mins can get really annoying.
I saved the crash log in a .txt, I’ve added it as an attachment!Hopefully you guys can help me!
~Yosika
Please attach the full log. I cannot help you with the limited information you posted.
The file, I think, is now under
%APPDATA%\Guild Wars 2\ArenaNet.log
Otherwise it should be under%HOMEPATH%\Documents\Guild Wars 2\ArenaNet.log
(edited by Xystus.3241)
I get the same! But it crashes more than every 15 minutes, any instanced play is impossible
If you would respond to your thread, instead of just going “oh me too”, maybe it would be fixed. I asked for your full crash log and you have not attached it.
AC Path 3 with an ele should not be hard.
FROSTBOWS = iWin Button.
Basically it shows your group does not understand their classes or the game mechanics well. It will take time and maybe some reading.
Did you get a repair notice to repair Windows or the game if it was Windows it might have did a restore back to a point before you installed the game so most likely the game files may have gotten deleted if it was for the game, the game just check for corrupt files and it doesn’t take as long as a full download. The way you worded you statement “I did the repair as usual” sound like you have to do it on your laptop quite often. Your laptop crashes restarts and some Windows file get corrupted and it needs to repair Windows. If this is the case this is not normal, there is something wrong with your laptop.
If you have to repair windows “normally” something is wrong.
