Xystus Furtim – Human Theif
Server: Stormbluff Ilse
Could be several things. I would try the following before starting the game.
Delete the file C:\Users\<username>\Documents\Guild Wars 2\local.dat
Then run the game with the -repair option.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Command_line_arguments
Overheating would generally cause a BSOD before any permanent damage is caused. If you are being booted back to the character selection screen; its most likely a connection issue somewhere on the path(and including) you and ArenaNet.
multani.1452,
No surprise there. The internet, when a large backbone has issues; basically have to ride it out =/
I’ve been there numerous times with Level3 and their Chicago hop. Back during my WoW raiding days (2005-2011); I can remember 3 or 4 times when their link from Chicago down to their servers in Texas was crap. It effected almost everyone east of the Mississippi and north of Kentucky that played on the Central time servers.
I kind of forgot about some of these websites; but its good data.
http://www.internetpulse.net/Main.aspx?OriginLevel=0&DestinationLevel=0
That address is owned by Amazon and part of the cloud. Which ncsoft and anet do use. I believe these forms are hosted there.
http://whatismyipaddress.com/ip/207.171.187.118
Looking around, it appears legit.
The 89 may not be reporting correct, because the following ops, ICMP traffic is blocked. Therefore, not sure how good that is. I could try resetting the modem. Even then, Level3 has some aweful latency; which you may have to ride out.
I will add this. I had a spike in my CPU temp last night. Nothing “overheated”, but a very fast and sudden rise; 1 core jumped from about 55 to 69. My system; in order to prevent a failure; starting throttling my CPU; then returned to normal.
In the past, I had this happen twice with the latest nVidia drivers and bluescreened with the nvidia file listed. I’ve reverted back to the May 23, 2013 drivers and haven’t bluescreened.
My bad… I opened his Log FILE which is out of memory… The OP text however, is not related to that, which was what I went by
LOL. I did the same thing too after your last comment.
He’s not hitting the 32bit limit, and he’s not using a 32bit OS as shown by the log he posted… “OSVersion: Windows 6.1 (64 bit)”
Ah yes, but the application is 32-bit. 32-bit applications run on 64bit windows through the WoW64(Windows on Windows). The game client is still stuck only using 3+gigs. Most games are only 32-bit binaries; BF3 had a similar issue when it was first released; although more rare.
Hopefully they are looking at the client and attempting to figure out why it will use more memory that its allocated.
Indeed. Except he’s nowhere NEAR the 4gig limit of 32bit apps in 64bit OS…
—> Process Memory <—
Private: 1295MB
WorkingSet: 1186MB
PeakWorkingSet: 1397MB
PageFaults: 4896020So no sorry, this simply is not a case of running out of memory… Also, the exception would be diffrent if that was the case… Memory limit errors have either “Out of memory”, “Out of virtual memory”, or “Could not WRITE to memory at address X”… This is a READ error, which is either a result of a bug in the software itself, a corrupt file, or a hardware error… If it always happens at a specific place in a game, then hardware can pretty much be ruled out as it would be much more random if it was… Then the remaining two options are corrupt files, or software bugs…
Fancia,
I stand correct.
However, this date is just wrong:
When: 2012-05-15T01:01:34Z 2012-05-14T18:01:34-07:00
That would have been during beta.
Ysengrin.6428,
That would be crazy if that were the case.
If you think it maybe tied to a particular animation, I guess you could find an elementalist; hit a dungeon and have him go through his spells.
Yes I did I. I explained the two most common occurances of a system shutdown. The fact is a game will not cause a system to power off. No matter what other games you try or software, if for any reason a system powers off it has a fault.
Even when hardware is not warm to the touch the thermal diode inside can be overheated or damaged causing a shutdown. Similarly if a sub-standard PSU is used, and the system draws more amps than it can supply it will also shutdown.
And 62c while gaming is on the high side for a CPU. A graphics card can take that heat no problem, but a CPU should in general never go above 55c at load.
I wouldn’t say that. Most laptop cpus are designed to handle a bit more than that. Technically mine has an operating max of 100c. I would say under 85c, although not ideal, should be operational
However, Lexandro is correct. The game CANNOT make a system power off. Starting with Vista, Microsoft has placed several “layers” of protection between the application layer (where the game is running) and the kernel and hardware layers. The game should crash first and provide an error log before ever getting to a point of causing hardware issues.
Not to say it couldn’t be a “perfect storm” type scenario. The game is requesting X amount of resources, X isn’t available and instead of Windows killing the game; a bug exists where it keeps going and has a hardware fault.
He’s not hitting the 32bit limit, and he’s not using a 32bit OS as shown by the log he posted… “OSVersion: Windows 6.1 (64 bit)”

Nothing to big here. However, it doesn’t go all the way to the ncplay network; can’t be sure.
since yesterday i have about 500 ping in game. either instance or open world. sometimes, spikes of 5 to 8 seconds (!) lag.
have died numerous times because of it.

Not sure that is reporting correctly. That’s a pretty big loss at your modem. We are seeing upwards of 13% before it hits plaync network.

We can’t see beyond hop 3. However, seeing packet loss, even at 2% and 3% from your computer to your modem and modem to your provider; I would reset the modem. If you keep seeing the packet loss, have SBC take a look at your connection. Really shouldn’t be seeing packet loss there.

multani.1452,
I would submit a ticket to ANET; 6% would be noticeable. Most likely a peering issue between Level3 and ANET, but they may be able to take a look at it.
a little new to this….ingame ticket?..
No, a support ticket: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/How-to-Submit-a-Technical-Support-Ticket-2/first#post3957
With the removal of culling; we are seeing the OOM more frequently. The fact that you do not crash if you lower your settings is not surprising. You may want to try just lowering the textures a bit, disable shadows and reflections and seeing if that helps. Instead of high/ultra, go to medium.
not over clocked and i have a 2 day old fresh install of win7pro with no AV software to speak of.
I am thinking my memory might be bad? is that possible?
Oh yes. Memory is usually one of the first things to go. Depending on the manufacture, lifespan varies drastically. I had some gaming ram that never gave me problems. Some cheap dell knockoff ram not last a year.
I would go here and download/burn an CD of Memtest86. You may need to run it a few times to find any errors. http://www.memtest86.com/
Frustrating as hell! It make me not play often as I like to because of this issue! I’m getting the error below, just today, it happened more then 10 times..

Grimmysaur,
unfortunately after step5, ICMP traffic is blocked and therefore cannot see where the issue exists.
This week-end has been quite peacefull for me, almost no lag compared to what it used to be this week.
Some people suggested me that the iOS7 release and download by billions of people may have be the root cause of the overall lag. Is that credible?
I would seriously hope it wouldn’t. However, in larger areas(like Dallas, where the GW2 servers are located), Verizon could have been messing around with routing and bandwidth availability to support a large upgrade. Is there a chance? Yes.
I would more likely believe it was network upgrades/maintenance and shaking out the issues afterwards.
Starting with Windows Vista, and is part of 7 and8; the Kernel has several layers of protection. Applications cannot have direct access to hardware resources. The chances of the application itself causing the Bluescreen is HIGHLY unlikely. But that is not to say an error exists somewhere in Windows/Drivers/elsewhere that GW2 is hitting and causing the issue.
ntkrnlpa is part of the Windows Kernel and the problem probably is more related to the “Unknown Module”.
This has been reported and Anet has said they are working on a fix.
Sarnax, this looks pretty clear at the moment. Usually 65.205.119.210 has a larger packet loss than 1%. That shouldn’t be causing to many issues.
You also have a 1% packet loss on your router; again, that shouldn’t be causing massive issues; normally you shouldn’t see packet loss here.
Hops 8→9 and 9→10 are in their enclave with ICMP blocked; so we can’t really see clearly what is going on there.
I am going to assume (you know what that means…) that “Wireless_Broadband_Router.home” is supplied by Verizon. Are you able to administer the wireless? Maybe change the channel the wireless is broadcasting and see if that helps.
matemaster and Grimmy,
Please go here and provide a pingpath: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/Lag-Issues-Consolidated/first#post2888341
There have been some peering issues with Anet and Verizon over the past weeks. I’m assuming since you are posting now, you maybe playing on EU servers? Tinet’s connection to NCSoft’s network(publisher and network EU servers are on) has been flaky as of late.
The game client is unable to gain access to the log-in server at this time. This is most commonly caused by a firewall or router settings, security applications, or connecting through a campus network. For additional support, please visit http://support.guildwars2.com.
But really, could be any number of things. Did this just start happening today?
I’ve been receiving this code for almost 2 days now.
It lagged on me in an area, I ended up dying because of it. Now my lifekitten dy is still laying there. I tried to waypoint, and now it won’t even go past my loading screen I automatically get this error.I tried all the ‘fixes’ and I have nothing playing in my background. Is there a new patch coming out to fix this?
I’m just hoping I didn’t waste $50 only to die a lvl 20.
Internet routing can be very tricky. https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/Lag-Issues-Consolidated/first#post2888341
Go here and follow the instructions for a pingpath and post the results.
That is just odd.
Have you ran the game with the -repair option and/or deleted your file located in My Documents\Guild Wars 2\local.dat?
BCCODE 116 usually refers to graphics card driver problems. I would uninstall/reinstall your drivers.
What are your system specs?
I dont know any decent dungeon runners that actually show off their DM title. Showing off DM is usually a sign of someone whos so proud of being carried to get it at last.
No offence guys, out of my 6 classes, only my ranger was allowed to show off that title way back when. Now since she’s a legitimate contender, I remove that title off her too.
I still show the DM title and SkyChef carries me constantly. I’m a baddie =(
Koralek, Please attach the crash report, it should be located here under My Documents\Guild Wars 2\ArenaNet.log
I would not expect a memory leak unless you were getting the OOM error.
Also to add,
This seems to happen mostly when you swap weapons and the cooldown is applied, but is not finished, and you are put in to a cutscreen. Best advice I can give is to avoid this is to learrn where the cutscreens are and don’t swap before.
This is one of those long standing bugs. If you open your character panel (H key) and under the equipment screen, hit the swamp button between the weapon sets it goes back to normal.
First of all, unless the routing is an issue with ArenaNet, they can’t do anything. Second, don’t be a chump and pay for something like WTfast. There are plenty of free proxies you can use. TOR comes to mind; but I haven’t used TOR for gaming.
Follow the instructions here and post a pathping to see where the issue is occurring. https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/Lag-Issues-Consolidated/first#post2888341

bump.
next time, how about putting “Mind you, our servers might not be able to sustain enough players” next to the price tag, Anet?
Their game servers are fine.
What we are seeing are peering with Verizon/ArenaNet(problem both need to work to fix) and Level3 (Western US; doesn’t appear to be ANET related).
I was referring to the general skill lag problem due to the insufficient data processing capability of the game servers. This level3 thingy is just one of many things that constitute the problem.
Ah yes. That has been around forever =/
Exact same thing happening here. Log in and everything is fine for a few seconds, sometimes even a whole minute but then slowly things start to degrade. Getting a few seconds of lag when doing things like using endurance or weapon swapping, then eventual dc to character select. Whole process seems to be rapidly accelerated should I enter combat, usually allowing me time to fire off one skill, then that skill’s animation will play over and over until I finally dc( I.E. fire barrage, even after skill ends just keeps shooting into the air, can’t move or cancel, can’t even open esc menu). Gonna try unplugging router for a while to see if this fixes it as normal power cycles aren’t doing the trick.
Edit:Unplugged everything for an hour or so, everything seems to be working fine now.

Please refer to that post and provide a pathping there if you can. Thanks!
We can only hope.
The game is very CPU intensive. If you are overclocking, it maybe drawing more power that it can get from the Power Supply Unit(PSU). The PSU may also be faulty.
If you are overclocking, I would turn that off. If you have access to a larger PSU, I would give that a shot as well.

At this point, I believe Anet needs to get on the phone with Verizon and see how their game traffic is being routed.
Today lag started. I’m from EU, Germany. Provider: Deutsche Telekom.
I got “rubberbanding” in SAB where I was by myself. Usually only problems with tons of players nearby(where it seems serverside skill lag then).
No disconnects. No crashes. Only that “rubberbanding”.Not running any other unusual stuff besides the game client(only the usual stuff I’m running all the time without problems or lag).

Again, we are seeing packet drops starting with Verizon and going into NCSoft. Similar to what we are seeing in the US.
Here is my pathping. From US to EU servers.
What application did you use? That has a ton of info on it.
I am on Mac, pathping is not available. So I used traceroute.
traceroute -S -q 30 206.127.159.137 > ~/pathping.txt
This is good I like *UNIX users.
Try this traceroute please
traceroute -P TCP -p 80 -S -q 30 206.127.159.137
By default, they block ICMP, which is why we see the !X on their network. However, we know they allow TCP port 80 no issues; as it is required by the game. So we are going to change the behavior of traceroute a bit to very loosely emulate game traffic.

This looks clean. I’m unable to make any guesses here. Are you getting disconnected with any error message?
