Ralph.2038,
Two things to remember about updating the game:
1) Run as administrator. If it cannot write to the GW2.dat file, it will redownload it every time.
2) If your download crashed, it won’t download everything again. It will start at 226,000 file and check to see what files are valid and what needs to be downloaded. Once it finds what files it needs, it starts at 0% to 100% from that point.
In your case, if it had 30k files left, it will check files 226,000 to 30,001 to ensure they are there and not corrupted. Then it will start at 30,000 to download.

Please attach a FULL crash log. The file, I think, is now under
%APPDATA%\Guild Wars 2\ArenaNet.log
Otherwise it should be under
%HOMEPATH%\Documents\Guild Wars 2\ArenaNet.log
Ziplock, I mean the Account Security settings. At the top, click “My account” and then “Security” along the left hand side. You may have email notification turned ON, yet the notices going to a now invalid email account.
Please attach the crash report.

have you tried this?
Try deleting your
%APPDATA%\Guild Wars 2\local.dat
This file keeps a lot of local settings. It maybe corrupt/not up to date.
Also, delete any gw2-cache-{######} folders under
%temp%
folder
Then try a “-repair” option http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Command_line_arguments
ornuthewolf.7652,
It all depends on what the issue is. However, no matter what, I will always recommend a cooling pad for a gaming laptop.
I would suggest using http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html and monitor your temps. 65C and below should be good. 70s aren’t bad for short periods. 90+ is definitely an issue.
It sounds like it could be Windows setup issue. Maybe it set for some type of surround sound, but you don’t have surround sound enabled.
Usually 42 error points towards port configurations. It uses 80, 443 (standard web ports and shouldn’t be the issue). It also uses 6112 and 6600 (unprivileged ports; most likely the issue). Make sure your router is configured to allow these ports.
One quick way to test this: used the “/clientport 80” command line argument. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Command_line_arguments
I can’t see to see your text files. Could you re-attach them in a reply.
Check what your security options are set as. Clear the known networks. Check to see if your email account is still correct for email validation.
You may also want to post the Ticket numbers here, so if Gaile sees it, she can check the status.
Have you run the game with the -repair option?
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Command_line_arguments
Have you deleted the local.dat file?
%APPDATA%\Guild Wars 2\local.dat
Try doing a system file check for any corruption.
http://pcsupport.about.com/od/toolsofthetrade/ht/sfc-scannow.htm
Start with running the “-repair” option.
Does he list himself as “offline” in the social menu? If so, you can’t invite him but he can join others. Its part of the incognito mode.
I login, the patch is done, I go to press play and a message immediately pops up saying there’s a serious error. I go to details and it shows me this at the top:

Flags: 0I sent a report to arena.net on the same window, but i was hoping for a quick fix. I don’t know if this has happened before or not. I am running a windows 8 comp with very good specs, the only thing lacking is the graphics card. Nvidia Gefore 610. I hope there’s a way to fix this.
Could you attach the whole report. The error “c0000005” is a generic windows permission error. This could be anything from not running the game with administrator privileges to bad RAM.
ThronedJet.7134,
Have you tried bypassing your router?
wow thx a lot….really helped)
Glad to help
18.OSVersion: Windows 6.1 (32 bit)
Honestly I highly doubt that your seeing a performance improvement, seeing as you where not using the entire 4GB ram to start with, to use that ram you will need a 64bit OS installed.
What version of DX are you running, as according to that log its Version 8……..
But I had an 8 Gb ram installed. The DX version is 11 I saw it on dxdiag.
You see…32 bits can represent a maximum value of 2 ^ 32… which is roughly 4GB…
Now even though you have installed 8GB ram only half of it is “addressable” by a 32-bit operating system…64 bits can form a maximum value of 2^64 which is way more than a TB.. so moral of the story..your RAM upgrade is useless unless you upgrade your operating system.
Yep. 100% correct.
- System Memory <—*
Physical: 1061MB/ 3327MB 31%
The error itself seems to be a permission issue. make sure you are running the game with admin privileges.
i read over and over your guides i been using 10/25/0/10/25 but is all the slot triats situational. i was wanting to know if shouts or what is better. also, i see so much junk on youtube for like a 0/0/30/30/10 build that says its best for overall is this true i just want to set something that i can stick with for awhile without changing to to much im new to 80 no money and working on exotics thanks
For PVE, DPS is king. This guide will get your DPS up while providing a solid build. 0/0/30/30/10 is a very heavy “tanking” or WvW build; not meant for maximizing DPS.
Most PVE encounters hit hard enough anyway that you need to rely on blocks/dodges to survive. Many of the mechanics make the fights more challenging the longer the boss is alive. The more DPS you can push and faster you can take down enemies, the better.
Everything is one time item except for the Ring and Golem Banker(usable for only 2 weeks after first use).
All the other items are account bound. It doesn’t matter which character got them; unless you had them on the character and then deleted it.
local.dat file is most likely corrupt. Delete it. Its located under
%APPDATA%\Guild Wars 2\
Yeah, because the fact that it does not install completly makes the update really long.
“repair” option ? what’s that, and how do you do that ?
Doom, not a problem.
As for the download issue, that does sound strange. I would recommend trying a “-repair” option on the game to see if it can fix it.
Try running the game using “/clientport 80” option.
KnightRider Of Doom.6284,
If no error code is appearing and its shutting down; it sounds like it is hitting a thermal limit and turning off to prevent failure.
I would recommend running http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html and watch the temps. Most computers will shut off somewhere in the 90-120C range.
edit:
Could also be a power draw issue; maybe a failing PSU. The game is very CPU intensive and maybe drawing more power than the PSU can give out.
Submit a ticket.
I believe that is normal since your computer it coming from an authorized network. Remove all authorized networks/logins. Log out and log back in agian; you should be asked for the code once.
I bought and installed gw2 when it came out and everything was fine, until a couple days or so. I launched gw2 and started playing, not even 5 minutes has passed and my computer rebooted. And its not my computer’s problem because this only happens when I play gw2.
So I’ve tried to uninstall and re-install gw2 again, but as soon as the install process reaches 65%, my computer freezes and gw2 does not respond.
I’ve run down a test, can someone help me ?
Actually, it is your system. The Windows OS does not allow software at the application level that type of control. Either a driver is bad or hardware is failing. I would first recommended uninstalling/reinstalling your graphics drivers.
Also, disable the automatic rebooting during failure. http://pcsupport.about.com/od/windows7/ht/automatic-restart-windows-7.htm
This way you can catch the error code.
Please run the game adviser software and post the results. The Adviser is in the sticky about submitting tickets.
Sounds like you need to ensure the game is being run with administrator privileges. Most likely, it’s trying to access the file, getting denied from Windows, and starting over.
I play on a laptop and I’m normally around 65C(Geforce GTX 675m). That’s is crazy hot. I would recommend getting a laptop cooling pad and seeing if there is any way to force the fan on your laptop to 100%.
Also, depending on how old the laptop is, might me time to open the case and clean it out. Depending on how hard it is, apply new thermal paste.
Use the -repair option before re-installing.
abomally.2694,
I wouldn’t say that’s entirely true. I think there are ways to hack it, but then many applications/drivers will not support it.
Try uninstalling the video drivers and running a driver sweeper software. Then re-install.
Also, make sure you’re not playing at “maxed” settings. Specifically reflections should never be set to “ALL”. It will render all reflections; even that pesky water under the earth that you can’t see but is there.
Please run the game advisers (in the sticky about submitting tickets) and attach the results. Most likely ports that GW2 uses are being blocked.
Glad that works. To fix the main problem, ensure ports 6112 and 6600 are open for TCP connections in both directions.
================
= Installed DirectX
================
– x86
d3dxof.dll – 6.1.7600.16385
Looks like you may have an incomplete DX install. I would try running the DX9c update http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35 and running a Windows update.
Sounds like the file got corrupted. move the gw2.dat to another area for safe keeping and re-install the game. When it gets to updating, copy the gw2.dat file back.
First, make sure all ports for the game are open.
Guild Wars 2 requires TCP ports 80, 443, 6112 and port 6600 be fully unrestricted and accessible, both inbound and outbound.
Also, see this post about clearing your game’s cache.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/Crashing-When-Trying-To-Use-Trading-Post/first#post3270880
Here is what I am seeing:
1) Full Party Wipe
2) Fractal is now Out of Combat
3) Person A is near the boss
4) Retry button is pressed
5) Person A is resurrected in place before being transported to the waypoint
6) This engages the boss and causes everyone to load into the encounter; instead of the waypoint
7) Get hit by several waves while loading and wipe again
Please attach a full Error log.
Have you installed the latest Logitch Gaming Software? I have a G9 and have no issues.
Just because they are new, does guaranty they aren’t defective. You and your friend, while the problems are similar, could be different causes. How different is his macbook to yours? Model/Configuration?
Stephen,
If you play the Infinity Ball option with the Asura, it explains where the steam creatures come from.
FreekHymn.3641,
Adding more RAM shouldn’t make things worse. Try removing the ram and see if things go back to normal. Maybe one of the sticks is defective.
Probably an exploit. Submit a ticket ingame with a screenshot and as much detail as possible.
Remove the command line option “Cmdline: -allowInstall”. The wiki states that it is no longer valid.
Also, have you run a -repair on your game? Have you deleted the local.dat file located under
%APPDATA%\Guild Wars 2\local.dat
First of all, the error you are receiving is a stupidly generic windows error message meaning "I’m sorry, Dave. I’m afraid I can’t do that. "
Start with the simple “-repair” option: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Command_line_arguments
Also, ensure all drivers are up to date and possibly run a windows verify.
