Making money farming BLC keys?

Yargesh.4965

Even with your optimistic estimates it would take, subject to the RNG, 15-20 hours for a single skin. Personally I think it’ll be closer to twice that amount of time and boring as all heck.

I know there was a thread discussing how to farm for keys, as in which story was the easiest.

So that’s what ticket skins are going for? Haven’t bothered to check myself.

It is boring as all heck. I do a key a day and think it is my limit. Others don’t mind doing it endlessly. There are better gold making options, just not better key making options.

Windstar is a modern version of WoW
ESO is a Conan meets GW2
EQ next is a Wildstar meets GW2

aka EQN will kick bump

Maybe, whenever it is released, which is unknown. Still many years of green grass ahead.

I haven’t done any Personal Story quests in AGES … but could you cut the time it takes to get that key at level 10 by partnering with a level 80 friend (who would 1 shot everything and also give movement buffs)?

Note: You’d have to cut the time it takes in half for this to be an effective strategy.

Travel time and fixed cut scenes are what take up the majority of time. Another player would have minimal impact.

Wildstar is directly targeting WOW. GW2 is not. With the trinity, raids and graphics wildstar is setting itself up to try to pull people from there. GW2 is set to target those who do not get a kick from trinity, raids and whatnot. There are people on forums who say GW2 is dying because they don’t have what Wildstar is putting in, they will leave, but they would have gone back to wow anyway so not a big deal (game is already bought).

Lamont, all of that is not really necessary. Just take the character and use it. The only change I make is buy a longbow for warrior and a sceptor for guard (blue, can be resold at the end). All others are given a ranged type weapon.
At the end everything is sold to the tp or salvaged. Anything that can’t be sold or salvaged is left on the character and deleted with it.

I spoke to support about this and in fact they do, however all bank-accounts and email addresses associated with the game account are permanently blacklisted from all GW2 related purchases. Can’t buy the game, can’t buy gems.

You can circumvent this by buying retail, but retail won’t have the 40% off anyway. And you’ll still be blocked from purchasing gems.

Really? After owning the game for a couple of days? Seems harsh.

Edit: It would be a way to cut off gold sellers and people who just want to scam but still seems harsh.

Sylvari starter area was never what you might call crowded from the beginning. People prefer the human zone.

I still enjoy the game allot. That said my guild has about 400 members of witch at least 370 never logged in for over 8 months now and the remaining 30 are only one a few hours a week.

The high pop servers are still going strong but how many of them are new players and how many are old players ?

At this stage though its still hard to see Guild wars 2’s future i for one wont stop playing it.

I recently levelled a character for about 10 levels. I played during multiple evenings in the Sylvari starter zone – not even some remote area like Iron Marches. Without hyperbole, on my High server I can count the encounters with other human players during those entire time on one hand.

But I guess the solution to that is staging another Living Story event for two weeks there. /s

Ok I see a lot of diffrent idea about new races and professions. There all real nice ideas and her is my idea. I say bring in a new dark heavy class. We have a war and a guardian both are good in nature. How bout a death knight type class that can summon minions and uses conditions like the nec. As far as a new race tengu is one of the most wanted but how about playing as one of the risen and haveing a storyline that tells the dragons tale of takeing over Orr and the rest of the land. Would be an interesting twist as well as set up diffrent things in the future, things like gw1 had with lux and kur battles. Just a thought and interesting twist on things.

It’s funny watching all the champions of this game twist and turn and lie over and over and change definitions to defend their position. It’s pretty spectacular the level of denial this thread contains. All the people who realized this game was P2W left already and are waiting for an actual sub game where they hope they won’t be nickle and dimed for every last look and feature.

Please be specific as to the “lies” being told. I like to think myself an honest person, so you’d be helping me out greatly if you had some factual elements to your statement and not simple assertion. I’d appreciate it a lot.

It only applies to you if you are a champion of this game. If you are, prepare to be farmed 24/7 for gold and loot.

So I get an exemption for being Legendary?

Could just be Epic erm Elite maybe..

In theory this could already be implemented. The way you have written it we would never know. Also I am sure the staff who are regularly reading through would have a good personal idea of who they would like to see more of. If they standardized it so there was less room for personal bias it might be worthwhile.

Question: Would there be any advantage for the Devs to be able to place some type of tag/flag on forum contributors who they deem are continuously coming up with new and interesting ways to better the game?

For example: I have a select group of Forum posters who I will always read their posts due to the fact that over time they have shown the ability to provide well thought out, innovative, positive ideas worthy of reading.
(I also have another list of whiners, crybabies and complainers who I will Never read no matter what they write but that would be a topic for another day.)

Proposal: So what I am thinking is that due to the thousands of people who are posting on the forums, the Devs might want to have some sort of visual highlight which would stick out so that as they read thru the tons of posts in a particular thread and they hit a flagged contributor, they could make sure they don’t overlook that particular post.

Restriction: Only ANet employees would be able to see the highlighted posters so that no forum viewers (including the ‘Flagged’ poster themselves) would know they had been singled out.

The Reason: If people knew that they might be put on ANets Hot List it might weed out some of the negative white noise which continuously plagues these pages.

I see a few negatives to this proposal but I am sure others will be pointing them out post haste, so I won’t bother to add them here.

From my understanding Wildstar is a MMO that focuses are large raids so it has a very different target audience compared to GW2.

Pretty much this. It is really good for the parent company to have the two games that will frankly cover a wider audience than either alone. I don’t really understand the reasoning behind the semi sub system but if it does not work it is no trouble at all to change it unlike what ESO is going to run into.

Why are there no low level dungeons?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Yargesh.4965

Yargesh.4965

If someone WANTS to learn to dodge, he can also do that in open world. Go to a mob of your choice, try to kill it without getting hit once. Feeling good? Try killing it in melee-range without getting hit once. Done? Go to a more difficult mob, try the same. Why would you need a dungeon for that? Especially given the fact that if you fail to dodge in the dungeon and are instantly dead like someone proposed here, it would become very frustrating over time. In open world, that problem doesn’t exist unless you really overestimate your skill.

Also, no group content below lvl 30? Ever tried solo-ing the Krait witch in Caledon Forest? I’ve found myself or others asking for assistance in map chat more than once before. Same counts for other bosses and/or events. Of course that’s not a fixed party like in a dungeon… but if you want to do that together with friends, nothing stops you. You don’t need a dungeon to form a party with friends.

So when I’m playing together with someone, trying to show how exciting this game can be, I’ll ask them to go up to that moose over there and avoid its attacks?

Or we’ll go up to a champion enemy and try to defeat it, but how long would that fun last? Or even, how feasible is that to do with only two people, one or both being a complete newcomer?

Everything you say is true, but it’s not the most fun or rewarding option for this sort of player I’m talking about. And most certainly doesn’t make for the best impression of GW2’s PvE content.

Tag the moose and try to live without moving. It is a learning experience. People come on the forums all the time complaining they are lvl 20 and get flattened by lvl 5 mobs. They do not take into account down-leveling and did not learn as they went to 20.

anyone else miss the group participation?

people only care for big events now that get them a lot of loot… the problem with the smaller events is that the seem so insignificant. you help a guy protect a fortress from skritt once, you come back 10 minutes later to find the place overrun anyway. Unless you need the XP, there is little satisfaction to get from that.

There are some smaller events that branch out to bigger ones, the one in Harathi for example, which eventually leads to a boss fight.

One solution could be if the pre-events for boss fights were made more complex, to require more effort. As it is now, 50 people wait around the boss spawn while just a few run the pre-events, partly because people are lazy, but mostly because they are easier and quicker to do with fewer players.

The whole thing feels backwards as it is now.

It is a fairly tight line they can walk for this. Shatterer pre is absolutely better with 3 than with 10 or 30 or whatever. Claw of Jormag pre is much better to kill the crystals with 30 than with 3. People will still do shatterer over claw every time.

A wiki certainly helps but they are mostly found by talking to NPCs. If you go through an area as fast as you can you will not find these, so the wiki is the best option, if you look around and ask questions you can find them without the wiki. It is all up to playstyle.

There are a few mini-dungeons out in the world for levels below 30:

  • Flame Temple Tombs
  • Provernic Crypt
  • Goff’s Bandits
  • Beggar’s Burrow
  • Don’t Touch The Shiny
  • Tears of Itlaocol
  • Old Oola Lab
  • Verarium Delves
  • Windy Cave

Thanks. However, don’t you think its odd that you’d probably have to look at a wiki using the right search-word to know there are mini-dungeons in this game?

I’m very happy that they exist and aren’t advertised (joy of exploriation, and I’m an explorer-type player myself), but they might as well not exist for newcomers to the game. And for those savvy min-maxing players, I’m also going to bet that their rewards are sub-par/not enough and thus, not really interesting to them while levelling.

I think a dungeon that is properly advertised at early levels have a much, much better chance of forming groups of players that might stick together while they level.

Yargesh.4965

I find it hard when people start arguing that 5% stat increase is nothing.
It is. In a game driven by numerical calculations it can make a difference.

Sure, a bad player in ascended will never win against a good player in exotics. But what about equally skilled players? 5% MAKES a difference.

And this is where all your 5% increase is nothing fails. It will never give power to bad players over good, but among equally good players, ascended gives an edge. Whoever tries to deny this is simply a fool.

An increase is an increase whatever you think about it. 5 will ALWAYS be more than 0 and you can play semantics as much as you like , this will never change. Even 1% is an increase and something that might help to differentiate two equally skilled players. See? It’s called an advantage.

Don’t bring math into this, you might make their heads pop off!

Can’t be easy being so clever.

Can Guild Wars 2 be considered Pay-to-Win?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

From what I have read the definition of pay to win can be stretched and modified to fit whatever you want. By some of the definitions I have read any game that has a sub is pay to win since if you stop paying you no longer have access to your account thus lose. The gem store is their main source of income, they have stated publicly that the income generated is more that they had calculated a sub format would have brought in.
They have absolutely nothing in the gem store that could be used to make the pay to win argument without some amazing mental gymnastics.

On the crafting window if the item you are able to craft is bronze/brownish in colour it give the most exp. So if you have a bunch of logs for example you get easy exp to make them into planks when it is bronze, less for yellow-blue and none for white. Discovery is a neat twist and gives really good exp as Donari said. There are several sites that give walk-through to get to max crafting and what it costs if you buy everything or find everything on your own.
Always check the TP price of everything before you sell to an NPC sometimes you are pleasantly surprised. If the TP price is the same as the vendor price though as Donari again said sell to vendor since the money sink system takes a % of buy and sell money on the TP.
Also make sure you use the deposit all collectibles in your inventory (cog wheel on top right corner) an amazing quality of life option in game. You can see all your collectible in the bank, lower tab on the left side. All crafting takes items from your bank so you don’t need to have them in your personal inventory.

top left corner of the screen go to pvp, go to heart of the mists, take asura gate (big round pink portal) to lion’s arch, head to gate hub plaza waypoint and take asura gate to other 1-15 zones and level up there until you’re high enough to go back to your starting zone. don’t grind because that will get old very quick.

I agree with this.
You can also try the sPVP there, see what armour will look like by using preview option at the lockers or try different traits/combat skills 6-10 on the training dummies there (you are leveled to 80 and all traits are availible also it does not cost anything to change them unlike the PVE environment).

Yargesh.4965

So I played Guild Wars 2 for the first time today and it just seems very meh and a bit dull so far, I have been trying to level up and get into the good part of the game but it really just seems slow and irritating. Granted, I only have a level 3 thief (a class I found boring and redundant) and a level 5 engineer (a class I like) right now but I just feel a bit disappointed with my purchase and that if you want to progress with the story (the only enjoyable part as of yet) you need to grind to the next level for an hour to be able to stand a chance against the ridiculously powerful opponents I am facing. Should I just give up on the game and go back to Dark Souls or is there something worth working for in this game?

Starting out is always a learning cure. Sounds more like you want to just play the story-line. The game is set up to use the story line as an anchor as you level and explore different areas, it is not set up to be used as the main means of getting levels. As posted above, look around (get exp just for doing that), harvest whatever you see (again exp given), hit things until they fall down (exp). You will be over the level required for your story by the time you notice it.
