I am a mostly solo PVE type of player. I seem to be different from the norm in that I thought mesmer levelling was incredibly smooth from the start to 80.
I really enjoy both ranger and mesmer so could not advise one over the other. I did however get the no dying achievement for the latest story dungeon on my ranger solo. The mesmer clones and illusions did not draw any aggro from the mobs.
Ranger I have found longbow for distance and double axe for close combat a lot of fun. Levelling mesmer was 90% greatsword but I found that just about any weapon combination really good which is not the case for most professions in this game.

Come on. Just because other MMOs do this same bad design, doesnt mean it cant be fixed and improved to get rid of that flaw.

Yes other games have Level grinds, but I dont like it there either. Think I only complained about boring leveling in GW2? When something like leveling is boring and grindy for the sake of being a grind, I call it out in any MMO I play. Including this game, because I want more fun, not more non fun.

Complain about flaw design? Yes. Because its flawed. even others that defended this dont seem to realize they are admitting this flaw exist both in this game and others.

I went in last week to retake the golem portals. It was for me just a question of pick-up. The first 2 floors I was going through with 2 others, we cleared what was needed to clear and moved on. The only problem is the spider, with 2 people one is always in a cocoon and the other is surrounded by the plant mines. The third floor I got lucky and a group had already started up and I met them halfway to the first roadblock. There is a huge amount of luck required to time it but you do not need to from organized groups.

They have a policy for not having any programme directly interact with their code. I don’t think you can do what you want to do.

Think that it was announced late spring/early summer that that had been pushed either off the to-do list or way down it.

karka shell is one of the easier recipies for exotic grade. So easier to use this to level the craft. Just a question of getting the shell.

This is not true as you need 30 karka shells for one inscription instead of only 5 other t6 mats, making Apothecary the most expensive inscription to craft.

As has been pointed out it is easy to know where and how much you will get when you farm it. Plus the queen event gives a lot if you do it. Not the toughest ingredient to get unless you wait beside the tp.

Believe it or not, if you station 60 of those 64 on top of Karka Hive, just log on gather 3, switch server gather 3 more, switch 3 more. You get 9 × 60 = 540 orichalcum ores PER DAY. That’s more than 40g per day (takes about 2 mins of loading time + mining, so about 2 hours for 40g). Do that for 100 days (3 months) and you get 4,000g. More than enough to break even the cost.

You get 5 free slots. To buy 59 slots at full price is 47,000 gems at reduced price is 35,400 gems. To buy the top end you need at today’s exchange 4000 gold, for the bottom end you need roughly 3000 gold. Really don’t see the 40g per day being worth paying 4000g. If you bought gems with real cash you would have several thousand g anyway. This does not take into account you need to be lvl 60 to mine ori.

I put aoe loot on my J key and reflexively tap J anytime something seems to be dying near me. I don’t have to see the bags to get them.

What planet do you come from that makes that even remotely comfortable to press that key with one hand on the mouse and the other using WASD?

mouse walk- makes it a piece of cake.
Since aoe loot was introduced I haven’t even been thinking about little sparkles/bags- nor do I have to stop to loot.

I use “C” for the exact same effect. In time once a body falls you just hit C intuitively. Like someone said you don’t even bother to look for sparkles or loot anymore it’s just second nature to hit that key. It also saves other hassles while in big fights such as picking up warrior’s banners, and turrets if you are an engi who placed one and then picked it up right away again by accident and then have to wait for the cooldown (now THAT’S poor design).

You had to have beaten it before they patched out the ability for Mango Pies and Regen Boosters to make the fight winnable.

I won both before and after, after is just such a pain that really is not worth it.

Also even when you do everything ‘right’ in this fight it is still possible to lose. An incredibly annoying fight.

It seems that people are saying ANET is lazy/incompetent because they would rather not re-write the entire game code while it is too hard to use a character slot to level up a preferred race. Am I missing something?

I keep a float of 50g and 2000+gems. Any extra gold goes into gems and any extra gems goes into skins or harvest tools. Since my play-style has 6 lvl 80s covered to exotics I really don’t stress out too much about legendaries since they are not attractive to me.

Not really seen a rise, have had 2 whispers of selling since headstart one yesterday the other 6 months ago. Much less mail spam now than a year ago.

Reading what people are proud of I just need to say that if I where a game designer I would stay completely away from the forums.

I don’t think they will take a break from the scarlet LS, I think they have a finnished story written about scarlet and that they want to have it in the game and over with ASAP. I agree with this. I don’t have any problems at all with Scarlet, some things I find really funny that she has done. For some reason hate has set in and the story needs to come to some form of conclusion.

Claw Island was always on the map, just badly rendered. The sorcerers castle I think was always there if you explored right up to the border.

It’s absolutely an impossible thing. The average number of people who visit game forums at all who play a game according to most polls is about 15%. Of those 15%, only a small percentage post. So the general consensus of everyone where? On the forums? Chatting in games? In Guilds?

There are things that have been done to this game that have been done because of the general consensus and I’m pretty sure they haven’t made the game a better game. Champ bags, for example, leading to the champ train have not made this a better game. It’s made this a better game for people who like that sort of thing and a worse game for just about everyone else.

There’s just no way that a general consensus could be reached and if it could there’s no way to prove that following the general consensus would make the game better anyway.

Good thing I can see these armours on other races because they really are not impressive. The light helm and boots are about the only thing I would buy, maybe medium gloves. The heavy helm you can get from the Sanctum vendor.

People take religion seriously and it’s often satirized. The only person who might be offended…at least I thought…is a totally patriotic American. I don’t think something this silly should be cause for concern. If someone gets offended by this, they’re unlikely (in my mind) to be a gamer in the first place.

There are so many serious breeches of protocol and ettiquette…this one just seems like a goof to me.

I personally feel the taxi thing was not funny, others think it is, good to know.
I personally have the most trouble with the swearing of allegiance thing. That is where my confusion sets in. Who thought this was a good idea. Who do they want to come into the game? To me it opens huge cans of worms that really have no place in what is a fun and enjoyable game.

If it were me, I’d take out all the speed signets and speed boosts from weapons and give a flat 25% speed boost to all professions. Almost everyone uses either the signet or the weapon for the speed boost and it narrows the use of interesting utility skills and causes people to equip that one weapon just for that.

I agree with this. My mesmer is Norn, as much as it is a joy to play (favourite of mine) the running drives me nuts.

I think they are talking about subs because two big names coming next year (maybe) will be sub based. They want to differentiate themselves from the competition.
