The only way to effectively turn your character, is with the right-mouse button, but this can only happen while moving.

ehm… no. I turn my character all the time with only using the mouse.

Left click hold + move the mouse turns camera but not you,
right click hold + move the mouse turns your whole character.

You are wrong. Holding right mouse button down doesn’t turn your character. It never has. There have been countless threads on this subject in the suggestions forum since beta. Holding either left or right mouse button down function the same.
Read the last 2 words in my quote… it only works while moving.

You are quite right but I wan’t to add that instead of pushing once A or D press S or W while keeping right-mouse button pressed and you will notice you character aligning with the camera. I do this all the time while doing JP’s though it feels like I am always keeping the right-mouse button down XD

It is funny how some have compaired the camera in GW2 with other games by saying try doing a JP in GW2 without the camera to flip out. I say try doing a JP in any other MMO. SWTOR has some and LotRO has one and they all stink compaired to GW2 JP’s.

you can also just tap the left mouse button after you have turned the camera with the right button, you spin in spot and are now facing where you want.

There are on a regular basis mesmer portals in LA, often the pirate but also the trolls end as well. The one behind the waterfall in LA is doable. Then the short sweet jp in Pearl cove can be done very easily. In Caledon forest the one in the south by the trolls is very straight forward. That is 5 easy ones right there 2 of which you do not actually need to do. So 7 more to find out of a pool of 37.
Don’t want to do champ train, not a problem. The maw is a champ. Claw of Jormag constantly spawns champs (I counted 11 one event). Do those even a few times and you have that solved.

Sure more choice would be great. It is only 12 puzzles over 30 days though. I don’t really go out of my way to do puzzles but it is not a huge problem. Champs can be done on one of the trains, took me 30 min to get 25% then moved on to something else.

People can scream RNG all they want. Ecto rate has most certainly gone down since launch, and again since several months ago.

Since November the demand of globs have remained relatively consistent. However, the supply has literally tripled. This is a trend from last month. One way to keep the prices high is to reduce the influx of supply.

It wouldn’t surprise me to know that the salvage rates have been altered. Not one bit.

I would be quite shocked. There are people who have a very focused following of rates of globes, they also have huge numbers to back up when things do change. The only time the rates did change without an announcement they found the problem and fixed it.

The fact that you’ve only been playing the game for 2 months makes it reasonable why you do not understand the OP. I suggest you read it again.

I don’t need to read it again. Every forum of every MMO is filled with complaints from people who play insane amounts of time and get bored of the game, but rather than recognizing that maybe they should take a break and try something else, claim that there’s something wrong with the game.

I would love to have speed equal across characters, boosts and non boosts. Some jp’s are better with speed some not but when I switch toons and run the same jp and need to change where and when to jump it is annoying. That my mesmer cannot run the same speed as anything else is not fun (especially since it is a norn and the regular movement animation just drives me nuts).

Ok. Getting ascended equipment is fast, and not grindy. 1 week per piece of equipment.
16 pieces *2 (2 set per character) * 8 (8 character) means 4 years.
After that, finally i can start playing wvw.
There is one problem: time is money. I live only once, and i don’t have 4 years to burn on this.

What a cop out. You can jump into WvW at any time, and you will still get kills. The odds of every single opposing playing being fully ascended and every single player on you server having not one piece is zero. The whine, ‘I don’t have BiS so I won’t even try to play’ is just sad.

Private guilds are really good in my opinion. I have all of the storage unlocked (took about a year since it was not a huge priority), and you have something to rep so you do not get drowned in blind invites to guilds (can’t understand why people don’t even bother to whisper when they do this). You have I believe 4 or 5 guilds you can have on your rep list so a mix of private, social and various dungeon or pvp or fractal or whatever your hobby is works well.

Most everyone communicates in Mumble, Vent or Teamspeak these days. Too hard to type while playing.

A bit of this absolutely. I have not needed to search for guild in this game just to play it, it has great advantages for me but also a down side. The only guild I joined was very focused on players from another game, there was no sense at least on my part that you belonged to anything at all by being in the guild. Can’t really blame the game but at the same time I can’t really blame anyone the mechanics and desires have changed.

New professions and races in the gem store?

in Suggestions

Yargesh.4965

It will never happen-
whether you like the gem store or not, it is for cosmetic and fluff items only- as it should be.
New content will be added to the game in due time and it will not be through the store.

It might happen like the upgrade you can buy in the gem shop (heroic? can’t remember exact name). Just giving an ingame gold way to get things you can also buy outside the game with real money.

The upgrade in the store is just that an upgrade that also only gives you some fluff and cosmetic items.

I know the whole expansion topic is much debated on this forum but Anet said right from the start that they will not release free standing games like in GW because it splits the player base and that they want to build on GW2 until GW3 comes out.

So we will see expansion content- whether it is via living story as small bits, large lumps or however they choose to do it- I very very much doubt that we will pay for the actual content in the store.
If they do release a retail expansion, which I doubt- that is another matter and I would expect that to be in the store in addition to else where.

I do however expect the store to carry new and more diverse things as the new content comes available. I also expect those things to be purely cosmetic/ fluff.

We will never have a buy x class or x skill in the store for gems- I am willing to take bets on that ;P

I agree, I also think that the store should be fluff. I did not write that the classes/whatever should be exclusive to the store but another option. I don’t know what they have decided to do about the expansion question, they absolutely should have a clear direction by now though. When it comes great, I am sure there will be lots of things people love and hate and will enjoy chewing over for many months before and after release.

GW1 Nostalgia -- Why not just PLAY GW1?

Yargesh.4965

Most of GW1 doesn’t need other players though. Heroes.

Also, it still has an active population, believe it or not. I still see other players once in awhile in mission outposts.

The only thing different is Spamadan has 2 districts instead of 6 and JQ/FA are dead (mostly because people have no need to get GWAMM anymore since HoM rewards cap at 30/50)

There are no old veteran guild war 1 staffs anymore; rpbert H left/quit for standing up for the ranger class, many rage quit, fired for defending the old tradition of class balance, anti-injustice, anti-favoritism, anti-tyranny and anti-oppression against the less capable class.

What we have now is a new tradition which consists of; Favoritism, Injustice, Oppression to the less capable class, Elitism and Tyranny by the Op classes including their mechanics and their leaders.

Don’t pretend you know ANET.. At least hear Robert Hrouda’s side of the story before you speak on his behalf.

I do not pretend I know, I know because it is the truth.

Post should read: “Feed your kitten and post your gold so the
hackers know which accounts to go for first.”

That’s like living in the ghetto and putting a sign in your front yard
that you just bought a 65 inch plasma TV, your not home, and the doors
are unlocked.

What a sad attitude. The leader boards of any game are the target market not people talking on forums. Also the target is people they can chat up in game and show themselves to be very willing to be taken. Easier to go through the front door at the invitation of the owner, and no saying on a forum that you have x gold is not an invitation.

How long have you been gaming? This was one of the methods hackers used
in World of Warcraft.

I have been gaming for 40+ years, what has that got to do with anything? To get an account is not just to know the account name. That is why the optimal thing to do with the way security is set up is to contact the player (players on any best of list will be most often also players with something worth taking), get their trust and learn their habits. If you can get them onto a compromised site you use the info they put on that site. People are creatures of habit and the majority will use the same info even when they are told repeatedly to change it up.

Well this was a buzzkill. I just started playing GW2, and even though I’m late to the party, I’m loving it! How can people hate on it this much? I pretty much despise WoW so I’m not sure how people are saying they might go back to WoW, the least interactive, least immersive, most gear based, calculator combat ever invented. The combat, the questing system, are all far better here in my rookie humble opinion.
I’ll admit that I never really got into GW1, but from my limited experience with it, it was entirely instanced right? No open world filled with other players, if you left town at all it was an instance. Anyways, I like this much better.

Welcome to the forums. If you where here a year ago you would have said pretty much the same thing, there is a really depressing group that always complains about pretty much the same thing over and over. They then blame everyone else and sit smug in their knowledge that they could design and run any game anywhere better than anyone else.

Why? Are you a possible investor in the company? Play the game, if you find it enjoyable it is a win for you. If you don’t there are currently tons of games that you might find enjoyable. Dead and dying is said of every single game that has been released and will be released.

iirc it’s on the middle floor. urgh, everyone is using LA’s bank anyway, just come to LAD

I prefer Grove bank. Less lag and loads fastah and everythings right next to eachother. You have to learn the WPs though. It’s in the center of town on map (should be like 2 or 3 WPs in center) its the one off to the left~ mid section of town. Once you understand how to reach the little town square in grove it’s the most convenient place in game. If only it had a Mystic Forge.

The WP is right next to Bank, Trading Post and Crafting areas. It’s beautiful.

Can always enter the mists then leave for access to Mystic Forge.

freedom…

Can’t really blame a game for real life choices now can you.

not sure how you got from here to there so let me elaborate a bit.

When the game launched there was a lot more freedom of play than there is now- you could run around and just be silly, you could wear whatever gear you wished and no one told you class xyz are useless because they are not warriors.

We did not have check lists and achievement grind- max stat gear was easy to get and then you could concentrate on having fun or running around naked in circles if that was what you wanted.

In dungeons everyone watched the cut scenes and speed runs didn’t exist yet.
Also people thought you had to be level 30-35 to do a dungeon not level 80
We had dance parties in La before patch went live because we were so excited.

now you can very well say that you can still have all that- and you can and I do.
the thing is that was the norm back then and now I have to ignore large parts of the game and the community to have the same.

So yes, I miss freedom and it has nothing to do with real life.

Ah, sounded like you had wound up in jail. Thanks for the clarification.

Making money farming BLC keys?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Yargesh.4965

The amount of time you’d spend getting 5 Tickets is absurd. You’d get a lot more gold by just farming it for that amount of time (dungs, champs, world bosses)

At 20 mins per key, it’d take you on average about 17 hours to get one key. But remember that each key converts to a skin that sells for quite a lot (that’s the intention, at least) … so that your gold per hour would be comparable to other forms of farming.

It takes between 5 and 7 claim tickets to get a skin, each ticket takes 10 scraps, each key have a 1 in 5 or so chance of a scrap and tiny chance of a ticket.

Don’t buy the existing skins, gold/ticket is awful. Newly released skins sell fast and cost 1 ticket each for a limited time. I saved up tickets from doing occasional runs over a month or two and when a new set of skins were released I sold several for like 75g/ticket after fees. I made over 400 gold from something I do when I’m bored.

It’s not the fastest or most efficient way to make gold, but it’s easy, and you can do it alone without worrying that you’ll get kicked for using the wrong gear or something.

I understand this. I have some tickets now, but since I started late I did not get some of the dream skins I think look cool. It is mostly for me just something to do, not really interested in the cash since I got the golden title a while ago, I am not chasing a legendary and just seeing higher numbers in the gold field does nothing for me.

They never actually confirmed anything about Ascended being the last tier.
They only said that there will be no new tier added THIS year.

I for one don’t think they will add more, but lets at least be clear on what they actually said.

I remember Colin also saying he personally would not like to see another tier. Does not mean there would not be one, he could leave or the company could decide it was worthwhile. I don’t see the need and hope it is not added. I don’t see the need for level increase either but that I think would be years away if at all.
