Well that solves that! Some Sylvari RPers thought “Sylvari poop” was akin to rotting fruit and smelled rather sickeningly sweet rather than rotten meat/sewer/sulfur gaseous smell we humans are accustomed to.
Ever had a pug join your “zerks only” lfg while being 100% soldiers and then pull out the “why so strict with gear, it’s just a game, be an adult, ignore me and move along” card? Had that last night. The guy and his buddies almost hijacked my half completed instance when I asked him to either swap gear or leave. Had to take my own instance hostage to get the guy to comply…
It goes both ways then. Yet, I barely even start a group to be anything goes/non-meta or what I need to do for SE/CoF with “kill everything” to get most chances at cores/Lodes and then find my LFG is gone/destroyed by said zerker-lover just for the sake of them wanting to be an kitten. They usually don’t say a word, just join my group and leave it causing me to have to start over.
I feel for you too that you get non meta pugs that join your clearly stated group as “meta and zerker” and then end up at a stalemate neither side able to go forward.
Hi,
I don’t mind doing the dungeons that are around, but I’d like to do them more than one way.
Here’s a fix.
Remove subject words like: OS, Meta, Metazerker, Zerker, Berzerker, Berserker, and etc from being possible to post in the group advertisement listing.
Words that would be allowable: Guard, Thief, Necro, and etc.. ie only class names. This way we can actually play the game.
You built this game so we could play different variations of the classes. Why reward players for breaking your game?
Why do you need to ruin other peoples experiences just to benefit your own?
Cause we try to play without meta-Zerker how we always wanted, and the meta-zerker lovers like you join our group hi-jack it, kick us out, and we have to start over; in dungeon or during prep on the world maps!
I find zerker boring, I have a full set of it (exo+ascended for now), I already did all my dungeons for the AP, so i have different needs than people running it for just money.
I for one am after trash loot such as cores/lodes cause my MF of at least 400% boosted allows them to drop quite often. So I want to kill everything also I want to take long low levels and new players at times to help them experience the game the way they want to experience it. Having people crashing LFGs to troll is not needed and harassment!
You may say form a guild, and we are, but even with 500 maxed out (in the future) ,that’s only 500 out of maybe 1000s or 100s of thousands that feel this way or are new to GW 2. LFG is going to have to be used regardless.
I’m on the OP’s side on this not only from personal experience, but I’m the helpful person that goes out of one’s way to help the inexperienced rather than, “Do as I say!” -lemmings style and mindlessly follow the meta way of doing things and wearing gear they have no business in without understanding it fully or anything much about GW 2 either to begin with, and we all have seen that before too.
I got over 17K AP and never did dungeons until recently. My AP is from WvW, Living Story, achieves, jumping puzzles, etc. I only got into doing dungeons and fractals recently because I needed them for Mawdrey II and making Legendary weapons. (made my first one and working on my second, yay!) Fractals are not so much something I care to do but did them for Mawdrey II which was SOOO worth it. I am doing dungeons now because hubby got me a precursor and I bought another one on my own. I kind of like the dungeons now and am finding them interesting enough to try more and actually am a bit sorry that I did not try them sooner….
What astonished me when getting into PUGs is I keep getting comments like, “You got over 17K AP!!! you should know what to do!” And when I join a group I do try to let folk know I am new to dungeons but I am also very good at following instructions (tell me what to do and I will do it!). AP is SO not an indicator that you know what the heck you are doing, path wise… I will say so far the groups I have joined have been pretty nice and reasonably tolerant. Communication is key. Let them know you are a dungeon noob, let them know you are willing to follow instructions and follow what the experienced folk tell you to do, give it your all for the team and generally it works out very well.
Kudos to those tolerant folk out there.
I have a bit over 12k ap, but I have had dungeon master since year 1 and a half. So I don’t have much modern experience with dungeons at all, nor care for the meta or using zerker gear (even though I have it just to be taken into groups just in case and lie my way to victory), I hate it for a passion and how people treat other people on here!
Yet I do need to do a lot of SE and COF for my legendaries to get core and lodes, I now realize I rather do pvp and earn reward tracks for this stuff (glorious/SE/COF) than dealing with the glut of the hate and arguing over “what is good, what isn’t”, “blah blah”. I choose to not deal with any of it, honestly.
I still do a dungeon/fractal occasionally with my guild that doesn’t care what you wear or use for skills build or AP, as long as you can at least have some common sense on what to do/follow directions.
we are all building our guild to be casual/noob friendly and have a “play how you want” Philosophy as a basis. If you hate the current state of the game too then feel free to join our guild. Otherwise its best we go separate paths.
I’m currently going for a d/d sinister/rabid condi ele for my build, either with fire/burning or earth/bleeds. I may need to figure out a bleed version for destroyers.
I’m probably the most tolerant one here as I take anyone no matter how “meek” they are (hence our future guild’s name Mentors of the Meek[MEEK]).
I also am wishing for a full clear no skipping run of SE/CoF paths to max out kills for my massive MF %, yet it can’t be helped. No one joins it. Ever.
Nemesis add me as a friend in GW 2 please! I will play with you how I want and you want Zerker free!
The main question is where does the alcohol go? How do they get drunk and how is it processed? Also other things that happen when you “drink too much” of any fluid?
They can drown of course.
I don’t care if it goes on a console or not, I just want to be able to use a controller to play it. Anyone know how to do it with anti-micro?
What IP was it? You must type /ip and get the map IP for it if you want to report this. Not every version of cursed shore will have this issue.
/say is 2000 range (according to wiki) /map is map wide…
/me, /e, /em, is between those two. Its at least a whole sector of Divinity’s Reach at least.
If ANET can fix it to down to 2000 like /say it will be fine and allowed again for FTPs.
In my mind, if a team is specced full dps they should be able to clear mobs faster but be at a higher risk of being wiped, and the opposite should be true of a full team of tanks. Both groups should be able to tackle the content, but in different ways. I really like the boons system, but there needs to be more reason to spec into defensive stats, which currently there isn’t. That’s not to say defesive or supportive stats are not effective, they can be, but like you say, when dps stats can do the job just as/more effectively than defensive stats what is the point in speccing into them?
I really like Anet’s combat system, I just hope they can improve their content to utilize it more.
I honestly don’t think much will change and I do like the combat system and flow (as I mentioned before) but yeah, still doesn’t mean it’s perfect or even great…there’s lots of things they could do, or just think about and discuss, to improve the game and system. But I echo what you’re saying, content should be completable with much more variety and some approaches should be easier (or rather more rewarding) so it encourages variety.
And yeah, a team full specced for DPS should be able to clear things faster but it should be much harder to accomplish, requiring even extremes such as kiting from range or even outright death even if you’re extremely skilled.
maybe change the functioning of boons into something like protection does no longer reduce incoming damage by 33% but instead increases armor by 50%? So defensive boons are stronger with defensive stats and weaker with offensive stats.
you would still have to bring sufficient offensive stats to circumvent a possible boss enrage.
I’d actually consider the opposite approach and give defensive geared approaches ways to benefit offensively to bridge the gap in some fashion, like having protection somehow grant you a % boost to damage on your next hit depending on how much damage you negated or something like boosted effect combos that assist more greatly outside of just blasting for boons and heals.
There’s one thing you may not be aware of; at one time, A.Net considered making the trash mobs in the current dungeons so that you could NOT skip them, but that was shot down because they didn’t want to negate the play style of those that like to do speed clears(they learned that there was a set of players that enjoy that from GW1). Hence, when dungeons were finalized, it wasn’t necessary to kill every single mob in them, even though some of us would have preferred they do that…but they wanted to make the game accessible to all. Personally, I think people would have found a way to speed clear dungeons even with having to kill everything within the dungeon.
Right, I enjoy skipping too but then I also enjoy times were taking down lots of stuff for the lolz. It’s just far too common that the stuff is skipped. Now people that likely would respond to someone bringing such facts to light would presume said poster is trying to enforce non-skipping and trash clearing. No, just more opportunity, purpose and reward for doing so.
That Anet would take the thought of forcing you to fight all mobs then flip to the other extreme and allow you to practically skip all makes me think that isn’t the whole story. There had to be some kind of discussion of content implementation inbetween those extremes that involved more revisiting of areas to complete multiple objectives or just plain more broadly involved areas of the map instead of hopping from boss locations until the reward chest pops.
Even the idea of reward chests sort of encourages you to tunnel vision your way to it, ignoring all else. Having some sort of varied grading system in the game might encourage players to play differently. Even if ultimately, an efficient strategy is determined, so long as there is still enough variety, reward and purpose, even the most meta-gamer will eventually just try other crap and strategies when they really get bored.
This is why I love how sega handled rewards and loot in Phantasy Star Online 2.
You have a grading system. Which goes from S to C ranks, based on kill counts and number of deaths and contributions to random emergency trials (similiar to our DE system here).
If you try to speed clear a exploreable area on a planet to the boss room, you will get less drops as a group for the boss crystal that forms from its corpse; which can only give money at worst and in 4 possible drops, to a whopping 20 or more drops for really putting an effort and getting an S rank. And you don’t see the rank you had for the mission until you clear it. Which makes it risky to speed clear a map at all unless you try to kill everything that appears and don’t stray too far from the main paths.
Also each random event boss spawns also individually gauge effort in this way leading up to their deaths. and the grading doesn’t just take plain DPSing it down into effect, it also takes account of teamwork, # of minion kills, support, time taken, etc. After all, you only have the 4 of you (boss rooms are individual party instances) or 11 other people on the exploreable maps (up to 3 groups of 4).
I hate skipping as in games like mentioned above where skipping=less loot/rewards, I rather kill everything and even take the crappiest stuff from them. also its more exp for me to get more spirit shards, etc, I “use every part of the animal” so to speak. Also i have over 300% MF with food and boosters so I’m bound to get good stuff from so called “trash”.
I find skipping boring too and there is no challenge or heroism to it to “run from all your problems”. Are we Heroes of Tyria or actually cowards?

We yet to know how much DSD reach is and so far only two Elder dragon we know that have the ability to reach Cantha is Zhaitan and DSD due to the Ocean being the only thing that is cutting them off.
Zhaitan is removed but DSD current remains unknown but may be the only one that can reach Cantha.
Actually, nothing says that the DSD cut off contact with Cantha, as the earliest interference we’ve had from the DSD came from the krait and quaggan 50 years ago.
Thus far, we’ve only seen the DSD affecting the underwater dwellers.
As for location, we can make an approximation of its location – both current and original. In fact, we can even create an approximation of the original southern quaggan kingdom as well as the krait homeland. People presume otherwise because they forget certain facts. Let’s start with those wide-known:
- The Movement of the World states that the DSD’s territory is ‘every river and lake’.
- Issue: The Movement of the World was written by a Tyrian, “was revised multiple times,”: and there’s no influence of the DSD in Tyria. Makes the situation suspicious.
- The Movement of the World states that the DSD awoke in the ‘deepest part of the sea’.
- Question: Which sea? Sea of Sorrows? Clashing Seas? Something else?
- Approximately 50 years ago, the krait forced out the quaggan from their homelands. The krait, in turn, were fleeing from something. The quaggan and hylek attribute this to the Elder Dragons’ influence. Angel McCoy indirectly confirmed that the krait fled from the DSD.
- Most recently, largos and karka have shown up on Central Tyria presumably due to the DSD’s power. Karka specifically have been stated to avoid Orr due to recognition of dragon influence – since they don’t seem to hold a rich and long historical knowledge, this can only indicate seeing dragon influence in their lifespan.
- The DSD’s orb in The Machine’s cinematic lights up first. With the possibly exception of this orb, all other orbs light up in order of awakening.
- If one were to note that all ED that awoke had a champion to wake them sans Kralkatorrik (Primordus had the Great Destroyer and awoke 50 years late due to its death; Jormag had Drakkar and awoke ‘on time’; Zhaitan had the Giganticus Lupicus and awoke ‘on time’; Kralkatorrik had none and awoke 100 years after Big Z; Mordremoth had Scarlet), one can conclude that Primordus and the DSD likely awoke close to each other like Kralkatorrik and Mordremoth, placing the DSD’s awakening only a few years after Primordus’.
- This in turn means that the DSD has been awake for 200 years but only had notable-to-Centra-Tyria activity for the past 50. What has he been doing for 150 years?
- Given that the quaggan and krait fled into the Sea of Sorrows rather than Janthir Bay, they lived south of Central Tyria.
Thus far, this doesn’t really give much. But this is where we add in knowledge people don’t often take into account:
- Before fleeing their homeland, the krait lived not far from human sea trades. Source: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/The_Mostly_Harmless_Quaggan – “That changed 50 years ago, with the invasion of their territories by the krait. This slave-keeping, aquatic race had been denizens of deep trenches, but they suddenly erupted into traditionally quaggan lands, destroying their civilization.”
- We see the rough placement (direct straight lines) of human trade routes on this map
- Krait also lived in the deepest trenches of the seas. Source: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Shadows_in_the_Water_%E2%80%93_The_Krait – “The slaves are allowed small fires in which to cook their allotment of fish; sometimes the light from their flames can be seen for miles, warning away ships that might pass too near krait waters.”
- Trade routes between Cantha and Elona are stated to contain hidden reefs, indicating shallow waters. Source: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Corsair (Nightfall manual, Corsair entry) – “Between the northwest coast of Cantha and the southern rim of Elona, a deadly sea is troubled by sudden storms and cyclones, hidden reefs, and dangerous sea creatures.”
- Given first list, we know the DSD influenced the aquatic races in this order: Krait -> Quaggan -> Karka -> Largos
- Karka were influenced before Largos despite us seeing largos sooner due to the fact that karka fled their homeland while largos are still fighting them. Both largos and quaggan know of karka so the karka lived primarily inbetween the two species’ homelands.
- Largos knew of krait because, while krait homelands were furthest out given this order-of-attack, the krait would often make raiding parties on the coastlines thus they would pass ‘above’ largos territory.
- Humans didn’t know of quaggan, indicating that they either never surfaced or were not near human trade routes.
To summarize the list above, we can conclude:
- The DSD has been awake for approximately 150 years. Since humans haven’t known of the DSD since it woke, it had no interaction with the surface around human trade routes until after Zhaitan’s rise 100 years ago. Its first 50 years were either far from human trade routes, or fully submerged.
- The krait were closest of the four aquatic races to where the DSD woke up, but held against it until 50 years ago. According to the Shadows in the Water article and comments by Angel McCoy, the DSD was the first loss to the krait civilization in large. Either they held their ground for 100 years, or did not interact with the DSD until 50 years ago.
- The DSD did not wake up between Cantha and Elona. With hidden reefs, those waters would be shallow. Between Cantha and Tyria is equally unlikely, given the presence of the Battle Isles making a good portion of that too shallow – the DSD’s influence would have been denoted!
- We can cut out the entire northern hemisphere for the DSD’s location – it’s either too close, or too north to make fleeing into the Sea of Sorrows a logical choice; quaggans would have just swam past to land in Elona or further into Cantha, presuming they wouldn’t land on the western Maguuman coastline.
- Similarly, we can cut out the eastern hemisphere; quaggans would have just landed on Elona if they fled northwest. The only reason the DSD would wake up in the eastern hemisphere would be if it then traveled solely west until it reached the western hemisphere – not likely unless it was already close to the western hemisphere and was attracted by something (say, dense population or magic).
- Note: These two end up reducing the entire world to more-or-less one quarter for the DSD’s location.
Thus, we have this map of the DSD’s placements! Map legend:
- Light blue line = Northern hemisphere cut off; couldn’t logically be north of the line
- Light red line = Eastern hemisphere cut off; couldn’t logically be east of line
- Yellow line = Too shallow waters near trade.
- Green lines = Likely approximation of krait lands.
- Dark blue lines = Likely approximation of quaggan lands.
- Purple lines = Likely approximation of largos lands.
- Dark red circle = Likely placement of DSD’s awakening.
- Dark red arrows = Likely movement of DSD’s sphere.
I know where Cantha, Elona and Ring of Fire Island Chain are, but what are the other continents? They all seem to be named in this image (and the original), can anyone translate the New Krytan?
Never mind, found one! http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/File:Tyria_world_fan_map.jpg
The other continents and various far off locations have very weird and arbitrary names to them.
(edited by Yumiko Ishida.3769)
Elona is actually part of Tyria. Istan is the crescent part.
I want them to being back both year one and two, and add new stuff as well.
My GW 2 is installed on desktop since forever since day 1 3 day headstart and before that on closed betas / beta weekends events.
Also my \‘s are yen symbols cause of Japanese language support, but that shouldn’t matter.
All I did was delete the oldest cache and its a tiny bit better.
“C:\Users\Ishida\Desktop\GW2\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” but \ is a yen sign on my machine cause of what I had to do to get certain non-local stuff to work.
Repair appending to the exe doesn’t work. Windows 7 gives a “file path is incorrect” so I deleted the older caches from a year ago instead. It is really excruciating how slow the TP is now.
I still have a an ugly 4 straight losses from way back in May, which I don’t remember if ever doing. I blame my guild for doing pvp with me and choosing ranked.
Can’t you set the party to the pvp version in pve? There you go! The health bars!
I got electro lime, pretty much made back my gem cost!
That is stupid… I can see /map unable to be used and whisper limited, but /emote? There is not one bot I ever seen use emote.
Don’t introduce Trinity, but some changes are needed I think.
To me it is very boring that all the game content is best done in Berserker gear.
Sometimes I spend some time looking into traits and build for a support build and maybe that would be fun to change things up a bit. Try something new. All the gear, traits etc exists to do it, except game content.
Where would I play it? If I try dungeon I will be kicked. All world PVE/Living Story can be done in Berserker gear. Shadow Behemoth… yeah that would really help!I think the games needs to be rebalanced so that it would be very difficult to play any content solo in Berserker gear. Most mobs today only attack once every 10s or so, to make sure you can doge most of the attacks. I think we should keep these, but also to add some constant damage in between.
That way you could get a support friend and the two of you team up, one DPS with a little support, maybe a Celestial build, the other could go Berserker.
A dungeon group could be 1 support + 4 DPS. Not trinity but at least some more opportunity to play some other builds once in while.
There is no point. Again, the game is based around being solo. One member building a ‘support’ build isn’t going to have any affect on his or her teammates.
Zerker isn’t the Meta for no reason. Zerker is the Meta because the game DEMANDS it.
Everything is damage. Kill as quick as possible. For this you want damage. Zerker is simply the top dog for this.
The game becomes significantly more boring when you roll a non-Zerker team because everything takes longer.
Instead of doing 8k bad crits or 11k good crits, you’re doing 1k bad crits and 2k good crits.
All of a sudden a fight that is generally 2 minutes is now 10 minutes.
I am not bored by this. So I’d enjoy longer fights thinking when to cc the foe, when to dodge when to buff, heal, strip. Take me along if you want to do it a different way rather than dps all day. I have builds planned for this “other way” of doing things.
And this is why:
What we have at the moment on GW2 is not actual content. 99% of the instances are like: Skip 80% of the mobs, and the ones that can’t be skipped, you pull to a corner and AoE them down. It requires zero skill, zero effort and zero team co-ordination.
Atm GW2 is basically a game that requires no tactic or thinking, and all you have to do is just barely know the current meta. If you do know it, you can faceroll every single instance or encounter while being semi-afk playing with 1 hand. If you want this to continue because you’re too lazy actually playing a challenging game, that’s fine, but please don’t say trinity is what makes a role playing boring…
Add me in game Azumi.9572 and Yelloweyedemon.2860! My condi ele needs more friends!

See my thread too.
Supposedly, an invisible mob is in the statue and causes it to persist until you kill it with AOE.
Tip to devs: apply aoe at the perma orrian truffle. And check combat log.
Supposedly the truffle node dies too!and the bug is fixed temporarily.
Why is this GOD kitten Melandru statue always broken?!

“When bosses don’t die in 5 seconds, survivability and sustainability actually becomes a thing.”
Oh look dungeon requires no skills says a dev.(At least thats how I interpret that statement.)
I was far more interested in the other comment. I take it they have play tested the raid already. If necro is in a good place (likely they didn’t really look at damage that much) then I can only assume that a focus on avoiding damage and the current style of PVE is not something we’re going to see in raids. Not a big surprise seeing their feverish love for their PVP and their belief that it’s somehow a superior gameplay style.
Chances are these raids won’t be very much fun to me it keeps sounding like.
It will be very fun for me as I don’t play your kittening zerker kitten! I think I’ll fit in very well in raids using tankier more intelligent strategies other than hunch in a corner and spam a few skills…. After I get a better computer to actually see stuff thrown at me to dodge it rather go down to lag.
I wish I knew when the sale was going on from when to when much earlier, so I could go for broke on keys and try to get something worth over 500 gold! I did get my 10 scraps finally. I now just need to wait on skins only for 1 scrap worth a well over 300 g.
The only thing I use revive orbs is on JPs. So do not get rid of orbs (from gem store etc.)…Otherwise I agree, they are useless everywhere else!
Yeah I was like, “Didn’t you just see me do the same things just now?” I made a human female one.

Ok so I follow the flowchart and this is what happens every kittenING kitten TIME!
Am i meta? No.
I make my own group not requiring that meta kitten. A meta player then joins it, says nothing, or make as rude comment and leaves my party ruining my posted LFG and I have to start over!
Is that fair? Is that fun? Does that reflect what Colin said last live stream “GW 2 has the friendliest community of all MMO history!”? I think not!
They should have never allowed beta characters to leave the beta areas period! This is one of the reasons why! Also the old content is not balanced for it yet!
GW 1 would have never allowed this!
I was not taxed at all per-pruchasing from Game Stop in the physical store.
Can’t you get them with commendations? And rings in fractals? Also wvw/EotM uses badges and ectos, not laurels right?
Ah ok, consider that answered… guess our new F2P guy in our guild will have to wait a bit for HoT.
I was wondering, can a F2P player buy the core digital deluxe upgrade with gems to becomes a bought account? Or must they buy HoT then core upgrade to digital deluxe??

/thread.
So you want the new players to be fully in the dark with no way to help themand disallow parties for them as well? Risk you must take to make them feel welcome without having a rampant bot problem.
I don’t like bots either, but treating these free accounts [further] like kitten and as second rate citizens and not having any avenues for them to be helped, is just as bad for the health of the game.
Would you like it if I denied you access to a party as your only way to have help? Use your head and put yourselves in their shoes!
Just ask me to help you. look for us with [TTCC] on NA megaserver in game. I’m going to make it my mission to grab every new player in the game starting today!
The main problem it lasts only 6 seconds and has 10 stacks so it wears off even before you get hit 10 times as well with anything KD or KB or stun related!
I usually just let them KD me instead or use something that blocks, its so broken and I’m an ele as well!

What I wanted for tempest is to use a main hand sword. What better for her to use than a firey dragon sword for their new weapon? Anything is better than a stupid warhorn off hand with 2 skills per element. Also there is no elemental-based warhorn skins.
I wish we got what was datamined for ele and got a sword. I know I’m not going to use the new elite specialization either .
I can’t really see the difference in boosted stats for equipment, mainly because I wasn’t in game for a few weeks and didn’t bother to look at my equipment beforehand.
Anyone know how much a difference it was form before and now, like, numbers on the same piece of equip?
I just want to see a before and after comparison as right now, I don’t see the change at all personally.

I’ll have you all know I only paid $10.25 in taxes for the game when GW 2 came out and was pre-purchaseable.
I traded in a lot of games to game stop and also had $5 down a year before launch.
So I paid even less than $30 or 40. If we had no taxes on games, it would be free!

If I buy this and I still get a core account in addition to linking HoT to my existing account, I’ll be ready to tell Anet to ban/remove that new account for good and never see it again seeing this will be the only way for us to get HoT…
Its an atrocity and a waste of money!
I sure hope the expansion comes with nothing for $30 after the game is in year 4.
Soon TM google chrome will stop supporting NPAPIs, including Java, Miscrosoft Silver Light, etc. Will GW 2 forums be unusable on chrome because of this?
