Seriously, your story bleeds from almost everywhere, it’s just garbage thrown together, I’m glad Anet is not listening to all kinds of “class” recommendations here.
Loved how they took on the asian theme, no anime styled “imagine a bad word here” which I am sick of, it had a dark atmosphere I really loved and Winds of Change.
Some decently made armors or armors from the 1st game. Nothing special. I love my Phalanx, it’s so good, and goes well with other armor pieces. I don’t really spend gems on stuff other than armor, so yeah.
+1 on this, champs often have so many stacks it’s not worth considering CC, they will go down sooner you can apply interrupt or stun.
An alternative to this would be great, even if it’s only in dungeons, it would be kitten open world champs due to the zerging nature of the content.
Humans- Don’t like the voice, other than that nothing really.
Charr – Most of the armors look…well…you know…not so good.
Asura – I like them, I just don’t want one.
Norn – Male is a pure hulk-type brute that’s why, Females are well created I think.
Sylvari – Male pose horrible.
Warrior – I’ve played warrior in GW1 too, I’m tired of it.
Necromancer – Too much single target, yeah I can spread condis, but that’s not the same.
Basically every other class – Some are fun and good, but kinda feel generic to me and I don’t feel they worth repeating the game nor the game’s worth repeating at all. I want something unique like Ritu or Dervish was in GW1, I enjoyed them because they were I liked their themes behind them. Until then I’ll stick to my warrior.
I DEMAND capes! Yeah I know charr, and clipping and stuff…Capes clipped and sometimes behaved strange(looking at you assassin)in GW1, they will do that here too, I’m sure they could do it, it’s just matter of time and a little push from here.
+1 on the katana, others are awesome too
Have you heard about the Orrian Giant Chicken?
Well, this game has to be reborned for me to call it guild wars. No offense to anyone, but after watching several artworks(a lot actually) and played the GW1 for years, this still doesn’t have that unique feeling and atmosphere, only on paper and artworks. Still, gratz to Anet for the update.
nGumball got the point there.
In my opinion this should’ve been this way since launch.
I don’t think that changes much, at least for me. I just don’t understand why they have to nerf something that’s good. Warrior doesn’t need nerfs, other classes should be upped imo to work as intended…
The lore can twisted as wanted, so could be Kormir corrupted by Abaddon’s power but I don’t think so. We’ll see who it is.
I still don’t understand why only the mesmer made it as the only unique profession form the 1st game. I loved my dervish, would love something similar. I mean, dervishes stripped their boons to gain benefits(dmg, condition, attack speed…etc). Could be made, lorewise it could be twisted, the mechanics may need some rework to better suit GW2.
I would be happy with an otherworldly warrior/knight whatever. Kinda that dark knight stuff. Warrior is boring now, I don’t like the guardian. But we’ll see. Anything new is welcome.
Yeah, nerfing stats would make other builds worth even less so berz would still dominate.
I didn’t think a xenophobic krait “god” would help us while killing him.
Nice idea, but without the benefits. We don’t need power gaps. Would love it if you would revive for example as a medium armor user your gear would be transformed into the medium equivalent of your previous stuff. That would be awesome. Don’t forget it would reset your PS. Cool idea, gets more awesome the more I think about it.
This is by far the thread of the year XD I don’t understand how one would think he’s important enough to be bribed? XD They would just ban you for sure instead, it’s easier, and solves the problem by it’s roots. You made my day.
I haven’t read the whole topic, but I stay by my opinion about this. It’s optional. You don’t have to do it. And grind is a grind if you make it a grind. I have made 3 pieces of ascended armor because it keeps me busy and I need a new armor set if a cool gem store armor comes out anyways. I haven’t even maxed out wep.smith because I don’t care, I used exo wep till I got my ascended drop from Teq week ago.So yeah, otherwise I wouldn’t care. I’m not in full ascended, am I at disadvantage? No nor do I care. Am I beaten in WvW?, sometimes, because I’m a pve guy and don’t want to change my gear. Never felt I was at disadvantage nor it was a grind. Different mindset makes a different game.
Never really understood the crying about this. It’s only a problem on low pop servers where Stonemist is hard to get. Other than that just wait for rotation or a few lucky days and you got it. Even I got it. on Whiteside Ridge.
I fear the solution Anet has in mind, I hope I’m wrong. I hope they get rid of defiant, it’s annoying and bs. Instead of nerfing a working build/set/combination whatever make others working and useful. Nerfing zerker won’t solve anything. But as they handle class balance I fear they handle this the same way.
I don’t know too. In GW1 there were a few armors designed as that but here there are less. Chainmail, scales and plate are the fashion leaders 250 years later and leather came with Factions if I remember well. But I love the Phalanx armor, it has a nice touch and balance on leather and plate parts, I like that. And I like Braham’s armor too, only reasons I haven’t bought it is the leggings( I don’t like that short look alike pants) and I’m waiting if Anet gives an armor in the next patches.
I agree with you at some points. I don’t like parking in to Sparkfly an hour before the event but that’s the players fault. I enjoy Teq, but it’s really hard for some servers. I’m on WSR but I always guest to Deso for him and world bosses in general because there’s more ppl doing them. I think it’s good, but it depends on the players. I like it because it requires some coordination and most of the ppl write down what to do and when so I’m not complaining, just listen to the commanders and experienced peeps around. Though one mess up and you’re probably fail because of the timer which I find a bad mechanic at Teq. I can understand at some bosses like Maw because the ritual would take time to complete but at a dragon I don’t see why can’t we have a little more time to finish, but this adds to the challenge and “forces”(not really the appropiate word) to coordinate with the others.
On other bosses, yeah, some needs more interesting mechanics.
I’m curious too, I really want to know what will happen though I’m not a big fan of the LS arch. (and I want a new coolawesome armor skin just as awesome as Phalanx is, thank you)
Waiting 3 hours for a succesful Tequatl event and getting an ascended is an awesome feeling.
Several WvW “300 like” encounters with some servers. Discovering the world, most notably the GW1 places and characters and those who are connected to them. It’s still nice to do this kind of stuff.
I’m waiting to jump on the 2 week cycle again and i’m curious. and waiting for an awesome looking armor to be added to my collection. oh yeah, and capes(don’t forget that). I’m curious about the feature update too(can’t wait for that or to know what’s in it) Sooo, yeah I want capes
and something to do other than leveling alts and crafting my ascended for my main. Oh yeah and expanding the map, no new random maps like southsun. I’m waiting…
It may be a favorite but it is up to the player what he will use and how. I got bored of the GS and not using it for a very long time. I use axe/axe now because i wanted to get away from the sword(1h) now but I used hammer and others too.
I used a splitter with my Jade GS and it gave back the the skin as an item and the GS I used the skin on.
I feel bleh because some systems(with some rethinking) from GW1 would create less problems than what we have in GW2 now. (Looking at the stretched armors of the norn and the charr. Poor guys.)
I feel bleh because the personal story feels rushed(for me) and a few missions to some “chapters” could give the races and the orders more depth.
I feel bleh because the Living Story is a whole new out of the air story arch(which wouldn’t be a problem, but we’re talking about a world with full of interesting lore), though I admire the experimenting with it and I hope they learn from CDI’s and responses and improve the implementation of it and use the existing lore which is great.
Edit: Yeah, armor collecting. I found it interesting that the artwork looks breathtakinglykitten and the in-game version is just “okay” or “I wear it….for now”.
I hope they will take their time when creating the in-game models to reflect the artwork more and the envisioned version of the artists.
Can’t think of more now.

Well, I’m done. I did everything I wanted, got everything I wanted, explored the whole world. I could force myself into mindless grinding to get ascended, but don’t care about that much. I like the skin, but it’s messed up so not really motivating like the phalanx did.
Did dungeons a lot of times., it’s boring with stacking and spamming . I started an asuran ele. I jump on the champ train once in a while. I’ll stay around for the 2nd LS arch to see if it’s worth it and I’m really curious about the feature update. Until then my little asura burns through everything.
From what I’ve seen this year, a def. no. Could say the same thing as others(classes broken and unbalanced, useless and poor decisions(yeah, ascended). I’ll wait for the end of the Scarlet arch and the feature update. If I find it poor, I leave. I’m not sure if I can trust their sense about epic, so I’m not expecting much from the the ending of this arch. I’m more curious about the feature update.
Only a dev could say a certain answer( or not). I’d love an expansion if it’d mean opening up the rest of the map, a storyline actually connected to the PS, new armor designs, maybe some classes, weapons.
The Living Story is good, but it’s not the same especially with this whole “out of the air Scarlet did it” storyline. I found that I care less and less as they come. I liked some of them but it’s not worth a full expansion. It’s not keeping me busy for a long time as for example Factions or Nightfall did. Really loved both. More than prophecies.
I’m not sure releasing new races would be a good idea. We don’t have capes because of charr clipping(mostly) and some armors look silly on races that aren’t human or human sized.
Well, these are my thoughts about it.
Let me help you with it.
By the time you would reach a world event it’d be long gone. You would have to travel more maps, which means more loading time. So no thank you. I hate mount anyways, but there are reasons why they aren’t doing that.
First, sorry, but I don’t have time to read through 24 pages of comment, I’ll leave it to Chris and the team(still nice to see, you’re reading it).
But, as a GW1 veteran I see ascended gear as an “assault” against the GW1 lore. Though it would’ve needed the release of the crystal desert(or some other releases in connection with ascension), I think ppl would complain less about LS and would give new areas to explore.
Back more on topic. I support the idea of other methods to acquire ascended though as a casual player now, I’m not finding it stressful to acquire it. Though time gating is meaningless if you can buy the time gated mats on TP. Hardcore players probably have enough gold to buy them off of TP and craft it(if they care enough), casuals would still take their time and acquire it on their own pace, so it’s only an “obstacle” to casuals. So the progression is there just HC player will be ahead a few weeks.
I’ve read the ideas of other methods and I like the combined token version or I’ve read in connection with stat changing the epic storyline/quest solution. Either of that. Though I prefer the storyline more, it hides the grind(couldn’t find a better word) behind more fun.
I play warrior because my GW1 main was a warrior too. I gave the other classes multiple chances, but I stick to it, I like smashing skulls and cleaving enemies.
I’m a gw1 player that did not buy gw2 when it came out. I was disappointed by many things mentioned in previous posts (gw2 being vastly different from gw1). I wanted to wait for cantha of gw2, then I was hoping I can play cantha to death.
But then…
I got gw2 after several months when a friend gave me a friend trial code (or something along the line? cant remember exactly). I initially thought the story has promising aspect (hence I put the money down), but then slowly the game disappoint me further. I stopped playing after a few days of purchase. (started as thief, because I thought “lol, stealth is one of the most kittened mechanic that break every game I have played in my life; if i cant beat them, join them” behold, it was indeed a lol fest back then with thief being super op with perma stealth etc going on)
Many months later (came back to gw2 last week), I was kind of bored and I saw my gw2 in my hard drive, so I decided to give 2nd chance. This time I dropped every expectation I have for gw2. Now thief has gotten nerfed pretty hard, but matter not, I have zero expectation of greatness.
Now I have been playing it for a week or so, finally reached lv80 (stopped at lv30ish previously), deciding between whether to go for ascended gear or different class to try things out. Spend most of my time in WvW right before the season ended, got majority of my lv40~80 in WvW. I played sPvP, PvE boss chase, just finished apathia story part, have not entered a single dungeon.
My opinion on a grade for gw2 is… conflicted.
high expectation mode: GW2 = bad game
zero expectation mode: GW2 = tolerable
confidence in the gw1 Anet = big fan
confidence in the current Anet = zero
confidence in NCsoft = negative (experience from lineage 2, exsteel, aion; worst of all, if ncsoft really prevent existence of cantha in gw2, I will remember it rest of my life; like I remember how sega screw me in my favorite games [shining force 3, valkyria chronicle etc]… and how sonic used to be so cool but not anymore)
I can understand you, it’s different, and lost it’s uniqeness(that’s how I feel). Feels like more of an average MMO instead of something unique that was created by the Guild Wars series. I’m not talking about the features or something, it’s just the overall feeling.
It’s great and all, but doesn’t have that unique feeling anymore to me. That’s why I’m disappointed.
What others said. I run a few dungeons, collected mats, did meta chains, tried the champ trains. This becomes repetitive after a while but basically that’s it. It’s not as solo friendly as GW1 was. Concepts don’t work in practice always as they were imagined. You can explore and revisit locations you like. I for one like to walk(yes, I use that feature) through cities/maps and listen to NPC conversation and other things.
Haven’t got time yet to explore the aftermath, but this sounds cool. They took a few steps to the right direction…
I consider the 4 patch as a Waiting Game(yeah, that was just a reference to The Waiting game quest in GW1
) I’m curious what they can do in this extended break period. So, we’ll see.
Edit: Hail to the Dhuumhammer!
Grenth/Dwayna themes are for Wintersday, this goes back to the 1st GW’s Wintersdays, check it out why it’s them only.
I like the heavy, but it looks “cheap” on human males.(My main is human male warr so i’ll be talking about that only). I’ll craft it, but from behind it looks so bad. The female one looks better, well put together but the male one has huge, noticeable gaps beetwen some pieces(the only one that really annoys me is the gap beetwen the leg plate and the boots). Other than that it’s good.
Yeah, this was reaaallllyy kickinkitten cinematic, very good job on that. I hope we can watch it later through some kind of LS recapping system?
I still hate the heavy leggings. It leaves a huge gap beetwen the legs and boots which annoys me and looks silly from behind. (this is on human male, didn’t check on others)
I like the set, though not love it, these little mistakes make it appeal less.
Don’t really care nor is necessary to play, can’t see the reason of rage on the forums. If you need it for fractals or WvW make one set, Pve in general doesn’t requires it.(yet)
Haven’t finished an ascended wep yet, but I don’t feel that I’m forced to do it. I can do everything I want in exos.
Grinding is only a choice, but ppl are impatient. Why rush for something that’s optional and not so good looking.
I’d instantly roll a necro for a full Grenth set even if it’s modified a little here and there and pay for it. I’ve alway thought that the Gods inspired armor sets with the right design choices would be a great hit to the gem store. I’ll get this hood definitely(and roll a necro, he just have to wait a little
)
I loved watching GvG matches, they were awesome. GW2’s PvP matches are good too, but aren’t that good. mainly for the reasons milo mentioned. This DPS fest is affecting the game as a whole, I’m sure they’ll fix it somehow and also expand the PvP in the game.
I wish I could say I was joking….
That pic made my day XD
Didn’t read through every comment. BUT! If it’s selfish that we “cry” for our cultural set then so be it. Give it back and make every cultural available to everyone. We’ll be fine then.
