Except fireball can be easily strafed, isn’t 1.5k+ range when traited, and lava font doesn’t track through stealths / teleports.

LB is a much better single target long range weapon. Old mate above me seems to forget that we have the ability to swap weapons, whereas eles don’t.

lol longbow shots are stupidly easy to strafe, especially at 1500 range. The mere fact you even mentioned 1500 range signals to me the usual culprit of sour hotjoin/wvw grapes, people who die to a ranger from 1500 range deserve what they get, it couldn’t get possibly any easier to dodge longbow attacks from 1500 range.

Tracking through stealth and teleports? Sure, if your thief is kittened and not double dodging your rapid fire channels, as that’s virtually the only thing you have on a longbow. It doesn’t even track through teleports if the opponent ports across you.

These people singing the praises of longbow are probably farming upscales in WvW or hotjoin. When you see rangers showing up in spvp at the same rate as eles, or rangers making the same representation in guild vs guild as eles, we can talk.

It’s a better weapon than it was before, but for the content that matters such as group pvp and pve, the ele staff is a far superior weapon.

Good for you, you can swap to another garbage weapon unlike eles, too bad none of those weapons you can swap to put down water fields and clear conditions, don’t put fire fields for might stacking, do less dps, do less aoe, don’t lay down aoe chill fields or give you mobile reflection unlike that garbage whirling defenses, won’t give you a line of warding and it won’t root people.

But hey, you might be able to win a duel against some people, how useful in a team objective game!

In about one hour of silverwastes farm I made 1k dragonite ore, that would have taken me 2-3 days camping world bosses with far more time investments not to mention far less total mats.

And even then that is nothing, if you bother to use the trading post and an app you can make in an hour of browsing far more than you ever will by playing the actual game.

Viability of condi mesmer in sPvP

really hard to argue with that
i dont play condi engi but yes those guys can aoe the kitten and have also CC boon and blast finisher especialy with heals ad water field

but after testing with some friends engi versus condi mtd – the later does more dps and some even aoe.
the engi can proc poison, burning (more 1v1) few bleed stacks 3-5, confusion 5 1v1 mainly
so his aoe dmg is mainly poison and burning and few bleed which are more in a 10 sec rotation in average

while mesmer does torment and confusion and burning and bleed and poison and weakness (negate dmg) and vulnerability if traited in lower rotation in average

but yes engi bring aoe water field with 2 blast and boons and block and cc. which are more important to the group

but consider 1 engi and 1 mtd shatter . engi hold close and mesmer rotate the mid and far….

Mesmer seems nice from a theoretical perspective as you pointed out, but in practice it’s an entirely different story. There’s good reason condi mesmers are nonexistent in tournaments where money prizes are at stake. Nothing tests commitment to a build better than the thought of losing a fat cash prize over it.

Also Ranger has a higher armor class and base health

And less active defenses, in case you forgot to figure in cantrips and blast fields, or access to projectile reflects.

But hey necromancer has the highest health and death shroud, and they so totally bunker better than eles or guardians who only have 11k base health, right?

Not to mention a staff ele brings fire fields for might, condi clear with healing rain on top of 2 water fields, aoe chill, line root, a line of warding, an aoe stun cage, aoe swiftness and the best aoe damage spell in the game.

Now if they didn’t suck in melee range and only have 12k HP when full zerker or I would totally go staff ele after reading your post.

Is there a good zerker staff ele that makes vids to showcase how to duel with it?

Suck in melee range? Melee range is where you can most reliably land your lava fonts and fireballs on top of having access to blasting them.

Well, such an idea for the soldier classes would be a little dumb since showing skin would defeat the purpose of heavy armor, although this wouldn’t be too bad for the light armored classes, since less fabric means less things to catch onto terrain and its easier to stay mobile in leather suits than it is with a billowing cloak.

This makes no sense as there is already an ocean of half naked norn female guardians and warriors running around.

It’s why I’m bitter the Ritualist didn’t make it into GW2, because they had pretty sexy and revealing armor even on the males.

But this game took more of the route of Korean design, where male armor is designed with “cool” as an imperative and female armor is “sexy” as an imperative.

Viability of condi mesmer in sPvP

in Mesmer

Zenith.7301

Problem with condi mesmer is the ramp up time and lack of condi coverage.

There’s good reason why engineer is the undisputed king of condi classes. It can spike a ton of conditions quick and often, and it’s got a wide access to boons and block and cc in the same spec.

The mesmer relies on offhand pistol with sharpened images to even frontload a good number of bleeds, otherwise you rely on 3 staff clones with a slow projectile speed applying bleeds at a glacial pace.

More importantly, condi mesmer has randomness built into it because apparently applying vulnerability on a condi weapon is good.

On top of it all, all that condi application is pretty much single target outside some niche shatter uses, and your condi application means, the images, suffer the same issue all mesmer illusion specs do, they die immediately to engineer grenades and necro marks and ele aoe and guardian whirling wrath cleaves.

So not only do you lack the condi spike and coverage of an engineer, you lack the blast fields and blast finishers they bring, you lack the access to boons for your teammates, you lack the hard CC, and the autoattacks on both mesmer’s weapons suck (as do most mesmer autoattacks in general).

More importantly, in a game format and in general as well, you bring little aoe pressure in a game where aoe is essential, there’s virtually no downside to cleave/aoe in this game because those skills tend to do as much damage as single target ones if not more.

And don’t expect any buffs to mesmer, they appear to balance this game around the whines of people who duel or roam in WvW instead of around group play, and since mesmer does well enough in duels and roaming it will never get changes without significant whine from people who lose 1v1’s to them or get beaten in a roaming scenario. The same applies to necromancer, solid 1v1 class but held back in group play due to 1v1/roaming whine.

Yeah, banners are basically stronger spirits that cannot be killed and can be moved around without needing a master trait.

Yeah but if they roll through a mark they’ve just announced to you they’re nearby so you can save the harder hitting marks.

The whole point of putting mark of bllod and even chiiblains is to show you when the thief is entering the zones.

Now, the thief WILL get 2 guaranteed ways to backstab unless you pre-cast reaper’s mark: he will steal teleport the backstab, or he will shadowshot precast into a backstab so when shadoshot hits you he teleports midbackstab and it connects. He may also use infiltrator’s signet.

He’ll also have shadow refuge for another longstealth backstab.

And this is just the D/P scenario, which is the better scenario for the necro. A S/D thief will simply wear the necro out.

You need to play very offensive against thief, use flesh golem that knockdown can land you a kill.

problem is that almost everything in this game is AOE, you can’t just add minions AOE resistance like in Diablo or WOW because they would be unkillable…

you could use resistance to just ground targeted AOEs, but you would create another imbalance, because some weapons are just too focused on AOE and minions would become unkillable for them, fixing an unbalance with another unbalance isn’t a good solution imo…

No, it’s a simple solution really. Make it so the target you have takes x damage but all other untargeted entities take 90% less aoe damage.

That way you can still kill minions if you choose to target them but you don’t just casually cleave them down.

What you people don’t understand is that ranger pets should not be killable to begin with.

Rangers and mesmers HAVE LESSER BASE DAMAGE NUMBERS COMPARED TO THE ABILITIES OF NON-PET CLASSES.

This means the classes are balanced on 100% uptime of these ai to be competitive with other classes.

But either way it’s a pretty contrived scenario and you could be using iswordsmen anyways.

As a necro i would be happy with being even a fraction as well off as a mesmer. Being a portal bot is a huge boon to the class. If only necro had something like that. Also i think you are overestimating the importance of damage. Weve seen recent records with double mesmers and the damage lost was pretty minor. The only classes that are ever stacked in multiples in records these days are eles and mesmers. Eles for damage and mesmers for superior utility. I think thats a pretty good position to be in. Its just a shame mesmer is a pretty poor solo/duo/trio class along with necro and ranger. But thats to do with buffing potential and not actual damage and utility.

You’ll get no argument from me as regards the necro. They and rangers just need buffs, badly. Way more than mesmer. But that doesn’t mean mesmer doesn’t need to be looked at for damage, damage is a universal feature and it’s one of the very reasons why in wvw and spvp you don’t see many mesmers in guild vs guild or large scale, or in spvp. Even if mesmer utility can carry them enough in pve to not be excluded like a necro or ranger.

I’m there with you, if there is a totem pole in terms of resources allotted to looking at classes and revamping stuff, necro should be right at the top followed by ranger. But mesmer is definitely above any classes on that pole that isn’t ranger or necro.

And the good thing is necro just needs numbers tweaks. Make them cleave, improved the autoattack damage on all their weapons, lower the cd of wells and improve their group utility. They don’t have a showhorned mechanic involving pets as minions are optionals. I’m way more optimistic about arenanet solving those issues than them solving pets such as illusions or ranger ones, much less making shatters useful in pve as a mechanic.

The difference with a warrior/thief “stealth/banner bot” is that both those classes bring unique utility but they are not bottom tier damage in exchange for it. A warrior with PSEA can still keep up might and fury with the group and vulnerability stacks. And even such a warrior will outdamage a mesmer, as will a thief.

It’s not even a remotely comparable scenario. Is mesmer better off than ranger/necro? Yeah, but that’s hardly something to be happy about.

And that’s why i said portal/time warp bot.

Because if any other class had a portal feature that wasn’t on a necro/mesmer/ranger, use of mesmers in speed runs would go down faster than a prom dress. They don’t bring you for reflects, much less damage (which is horrendous and will stay horrendous not only until illusions can realiably have near 100% uptime on pve, but the ramp up of 3 phantasms to be competitive gets brought down or mesmer damage gets shifted around to not be so reliant on phantasms). They also don’t bring you for valuable combo fields or blasting capacity, or other boon provision or condition removal.

It’s all on portal, and I think most mesmer players are tired of being a gimmick class (not much different in other formats, in wvw in addition to being a portal bot you are a veil bot, and in spvp well people don’t play mesmer in tournaments).

Ok, a couple of things:

1)Mesmer with OH sword and focus can still solo him. Nothing has changed with vigor and reduced cd on blurred frenzy and counterblade, little will change.

Same goes with ranger, you’ll use greatsword and with counter attack you got projectile blocks, get vigor on healing spring and with drake switch and swoop you have enough blasts to get your health up.

You’re gonna have sword/axe as backup solely for whirling defense, because let’s face it the mainhand sword autoattack makes dodging things such a toss up certain times, monarch’s leap has a horrendous delay that you need to preempt if you want to use it as a dodge, only serpent strike is a true extra dodge. Get that with extra endurance regen trait and the ranger can still do it.

The problem has never been that ranger and mesmer can’t do it, the problem is their horrendous solo damage since they got no self buffing, and to top it off pets in this game are so heavily penalized by having no immunity/resistance to aoe damage and being on the aggro table so lupicus will constantly be downing them and gutting your already low solo damage in the process.

What’s more, the iswordsman and duelist trigger undesirable attacks from lupi and the ranger pet does as well with its capricious positioning despite your pet switching and commands.

So, both these classes and in fact every one of them except necro can do it on a zerker setup with not that much of a spike in difficulty. The problem has always been a question of time spent. The solo DPS of classes varies even more wildly than in group settings due to the radical difference in access to boons light might and fury and fields and active defenses.

Anet stuck the necro with death shroud as if it’s some glorious answer to lack of vigor, reflects, and stability, but death shroud simply does not absorb the bucketloads of damage pve metes out well, not to mention that without foot in grave grandmaster, which nerfs your low damage even more, you’ll still get launched back if you need to absorb a kick or swipe because you got no endurance.

It’s time to abandon the whole “necro and mesmer don’t need access to boons because they got conditions/utility” crap, conditions are a far inferior inverse to boons. Blinds are not equal to aegis or protection on bosses. Moreover mesmer utility is overshadowed by guardian and thief. Both of those bring better damage, and the guardian’s baseline reflects/projectile absorption capabilities while bringing more damage and group protection make a mesmer just a portal/time warp bot.

2) New people were dealing with necrid blast anyways, this change did nothing to alter the experience of beginners. Beginners couldn’t reliably dodge kicks/swipes or his projectile barrage; hell, they didn’t even know standing in melee range prevented the projectiles from hitting you. Most new people just ranged him and probably ate grubs/projectiles.

With that said, I like the change, and I also hope the wall bug gets fixed. Phases should not be easily skippable and people should prove they can do every mechanic in the encounter correctly to defeat the boss.

What they need to do is finally address the pet/minion classes like ranger/mesmer/necro and their group utilities and defenses. I don’t get why frost spirit can be easily kileld by aoe yet warrior banners are invincible and can be grabbed and taken elsewhere, or why warrior banners apply their full effects without needing traits just to increase a proc to make the one non-garbage spirit actually good (sun spirit and storm spirit and even earth spirit need retooling).

But let’s keep it clear, encounter mechanics should not be immune from changes just because development of certain classes has been negligent. It’s time those 6 month interval “tooltip fix, small percentage change” “balance” patches are put to bed and the issues with classes are actually addressed.

Temporal Curtain has failed to renew swiftness SINCE RELEASE. How has something as simple as that remained unfixed boggles the mind.

All summons in this game should tank a ton more AoE damage, but still take full damage from everything else. This would make Elementals, Turrets, Spirit Weapons, Illusions, and Minions all last longer in the situations where they are currently useless.

Of course; and you would not only see teams with 3 turret engis in PvP, but teams with 5 of them. Terrible idea.

Also, phantasms usually live long enough in most situations. Exceptions might be high-level fractals, where they are oneshotted by some mobs. Though even then, they usually get one attack off. Ranger pets are mostly fine in PvE as well, and minions anyway.

That being said, I feel a bit like I’m still the only one who noticed that this topic is more than two years old.

You are so talking out of your kitten if you say phantasms are fine in pve.

Split skill balancing in spvp if it bothers you, make em ignore only 30% of aoe damage or something instead. Fact is phantasm builds dont exist in spvp for a reason.

I’m talking about boon application being way more frequent than boon removal…

And it will stay that way, because some classes like the ele are BALANCED around these boons. You introduce more boon removal, you completely push them out. Ele builds without boons simply do not work, it’s no miracle that most eles have a large amount of their traits in arcana and water.

What I’m saying is that given the pitiful toolkit we have to offer a group, being the best CC class as wer were designed in GW1 should not have been changed with the warrior and engineer and guardian displacing the mesmer.

Some Thoughts on Sword Off hand Daze

It doesn’t matter what other classes got if the Mesmer is balanced differently. The only reason you could put a higher amount of CC on a weapon is because Guardians and Warriors don’t really have interrupt traits. Warriors might have Disctracting Strikes but you won’t use it with Hammer.

It’s not like I wouldn’t like better access to CC but there is no point in buffing Mesmers if it’s unblanaced and will lead to nerfs elsewhere.

The boon thing is a cross-class issue and not exclusive to Mesmers.

Not exclusive to mesmer? Virtually only the necromancer is the only other class without ample access to boons, and even the necromancer can somewhat reliably stack might. Both the necromancer and mesmer are unique in the fact they have a total lack of blast finishers and valuable fields (fire/water/smoke).

You’re talking as if these interrupt traits are widely used by mesmers, when most of them are of niche use in niche builds. Certainly not much presence of them in spvp tournaments, nor in Guild vs Guild or zerg wvw play, and virtually NO USE WHATSOEVER in PvE.

I’m sorry but I don’t want my class solely balanced around what it does in duels and small 2v2/3v3. That’s too small a part of the entire game to keep a class tied around.

Both engineers and thieves are great duelists and yet their class design isn’t tied to that fact, they’re effective if not optimal in all game formats.

I imagine that the statement “we don’t rez the dead” is not the plan the Dev’s have for reviving people. I remember when for the first year you could guarantee people would rez you Dead or Downed in the middle of a fight. Certain groups and fights forced this mentality into the norm.

So I would like to suggest a change to rezzing. To go back to the way the game was at the beginning is simple. The arguement that it takes to many people away from DPS is false and flawed. If 5 people rez someone in 20 seconds you have 6 people back fighting vs 5 people fighting and one person running anything up to 3 – 4 minutes.

Give a buff to those who willingly rez the dead. Make it worthwhile to do it. Increase MF. Give a Mastery Point for 5 Death Rezzes. Increase Chance to get an Exo. Anything that might change the mentality of this.

You do realize most bosses short of fractal 50 in this game die in under 20 seconds, right?

Zenith.7301

Mesmers are balanced around having one potential interrupt skill per weapon set. If you added a Daze, Stun or whatever CC to one weapon it might indeed cause balance issues or result in nerfs somewhere else.

The other thing is I believe that GS is one of our weapons which doesn’t really need a buff. I would appretiate better access to CC but I’d rather see improvements to existing skills (e.g. Chaos Storm or Counter Blade). ANet could also always consider tweaking the cooldown of F3 since this affects all Mesmers and therefore should be easier to balance.

Ok, so next to a hammer warrior or guardian we have longer cd interrupts that are not even hard cc unless rng stuns from confounding suggestions.

We have no blast finishers, no boon provision to the group, long cd on boon/condi removal for the group, few forms of aoe cc and little sustained damage.

So, it would be too much to at least compensate by giving us more CC than other classes, when we should have been the CC class instead of engineer or warrior?

P.S. Mindstab on greatsword is a joke. At the rate boons are farted out by most classes, removing 1 boon on a skill that does barely the same damage as an autoattack isn’t much.

If you’re referring to my post, I didn’t claim it was broken. I said it’d be broken if there were some way to get both FitG and DP in one build, but since they’re both GM traits it’s fine. I think it’s fairly elegant.

All I’m saying is that even coupled with DP it would not be broken. You either pop DS early to spam life blasts or you save it for the stunbreak.

And in WvW little will change, you’ll still be in pinball mode.

Don’t get me wrong, I like a change where a trait is at least made attractive.

But let’s not forget: THIS WAS A CORE FUNCTIONALITY of death shroud in beta that was removed, and only recently returned as a grandmaster trait.

Now, if they would revert the garbage Dark Path to the blink it used to be, it would help the necromancer a lot.

I don’t see why it’d be broken for a power build, it’s basically a choice with whether to use DS offensively or defensively. If you use DS for life blast spam and offensive fears and dark path chances are in PvP it will not be in practice a 7 sec stunbreak, but something longer.

And quite frankly the class needs these kinds of short cd stunbreaks considering it has no access to stability or vigor.

Either way you can still train a necromancer to the ground, a stun wasn’t really necessary to kill one just put an s/d thief/shoutbow warrior/ele on the necro and he’s still going to die.

Hell mesmers and guardians are still going to be hard matchups. Don’t go all Stockholm, necro community.

I have 10 infusions on every accessory, you need +10 in every infused accessory and backpiece 2 ascended items (2 1h weapons, a 2h, or one 1h and 1 piece of ascended armor) for 70 AR.

There’s a reason people do 50 over 49, it’s faster and easier, you don’t suffer any damage penalty for not being at full endurance due to dodging

Again, no one said it was difficult. What it is is pretty grindy and expensive for what you actually get from it. Especially if you have all professions at 80 and suddenly from one character with full ascended armor you suddenly have to make several sets of them.

Hell I don’t even mind the weapons since farming metals/wood is simple enough, but farming low lv cloth like wool is a pain in the kitten by comparison.

Not sure what obscure and unobtainable rewards you’re talking about tbh. Crafting is easy and not all that expensive. Ascended is the only expensive part and almost completely optional. Even for fractals just getting the trinkets and weapons easily gets you 55AR with which you can level up to 50.

So yeah, not sure why you’re raging that much. Compared to a few other MMOs I played there’s less time, effort and currency involved to craft even the ascended gear.

Um, you need 70+ AR for 50. What do you think is gonna happen in HoT, they’ll just leave the fractal levels as is?

Signet of the Ether Buff

Signet of Ether is basically a wimpy version of healing signet. Healing signet heals my warrior for 400+ ticks every second including heal from adrenaline on full berserker, healing of the ether heals for about 1k every 3 seconds with 3 illusions out, 200 less than healing signet and clone uptime for 3 illusions isn’t 100% while the maximum efficiency for healing signet is always at work. On top of the warrior having 17k base hp.

Get used to warriors just having better versions of what most classes get. 100b on a 6.5 sec cd, eviscerate on a 10 sec cd while a phantasm that does a mere fraction of the damage of those sits at a base 20 sec cd or if its iwarden or image even longer. And most phantasms don’t even cleave.

Healing signet heal recharge 20 secs, signet of the ether 35 sec cd.

Sorry, what?

What exactly are you trying to say?

Crafting ascended armor isn’t hard, it’s merely timegated. Nor is crafting exotic armor.

You can completely get by the entire game without crafting a single thing, want a legendary? Craft. Is it needed? No.

Exotic gear is more than viable which you can acquire multiple ways.

I really don’t understand what you’re trying to say with your thread.

Crafting ascended armor isn’t hard. It is disgustingly costly. Or you can farm for countless hours for the cloth if you’d rather not spend 12-13g per bolt of damask for a single armor piece that uses up 10 bolts of damask.

Any way you cut it, ascended armor is far more costly than ascended weapons, which are a much more of an impact on your character.

Just by running dungeons you can easily get the gold for 1 damask cloth + more a day, you don’t even need to do all the dungeon paths either, just the easy ones like AC, TA, CoE & CoF.

That right there is a good 15g plus what you get from drops.

Then there’s world bosses you can throw into the mix as well.

Lol the average dungeon tour is about 20g so nearly 2 bolts of damask per day. You need 10 bolts. So 5 days of farming dungeons for a single piece.

And unless people play like you where they have time for a dungeon tour, let’s set aside 1.5-2 hours for that. 40 minutes for your fractal 50 run.

Maybe you can pull 3 hours of play a day, but most people ain’t squeezing world bosses into that.

3-4 days for chest, 3 days for pants, around 2 days for the other 4. 2 weeks of all out farming. For far inferior returns than what you invest and get from ascended weapons.

If you’re saying 120g worth of mats compared to the <5g it takes for an exotic for a marginal increase over an exotic is anything more than a gold gate for high level fractals and just one more gold sink in the game, you’re not being honest.

We used to have our own headshot. It was called Mind Stab from the greatsword in beta (it would daze), but just like necro and ranger, mesmers got heavy nerfs in late beta close to release and what you see right now is the remnants of the beta nerfs. The classes with heavy nerfs by close to the end of closed beta before release are, to no one’s surprise, the same classes that have been kitten ever since the game’s release.

Pets vs condition damage

in Ranger

Pets should have had 90% aoe damage reduction/avoidance from the very beginning anyways.

I disagree here.
This is a spoiled idea taken from World of Warcraft. However, AoE combat in that game is much more … Skipped.

Everyone has at least one spammable AoE ability and there is no cap on the target count (even though the damage lowers if more than 10 targets are hit).

The thing is, that AoE combat in GW2 is a bigger thing. Even when taken AoE into consideration, you have to utilize the positioning and in higher numbers – you have to utilize even the targeting. That’s why WvW stacking is so huge. In zergs – you rarely get hit by the same AoE twice if more than 50 people are stacked at 1 pixel. Chance to get hit drops to 10%.

WHICH MEANS … ahem … That pets are saving people’s lives, since they soak up the AoE that normally would be targeting the player.

However, I agree that condition cleanse must be addressed at some point, since players are encouraged to swap pets on cooldown just to keep them alive. No strategical thinking – you are just forced to do that, because if you don’t (and you’d think of tactical use) you’d end up loosing 30% of your character. And you don’t want that.

lol, saving a life, that’s one hell of a rationalization.

Probably an unpopular opinion, but i really do hate people going full zerk with no idea of how to dodge/block/survive.

Hate to tell it to you, but it’s gonna suck regardless of what they run if they can’t dodge/block.

I was in a fractal where this warrior and mesmer were eating the ice elemental ice spikes on the dredge fractal, every single time. God bless their souls, for no amount of gear can compensate for being unable do deal with a massive telegraph with a massive delay.

As far as builds though, I hate mesmers who spec into inspiration and for some reason don’t even use focus offhand and barely use feedback, use phantasmal defenders on bosses that melee cleave one shot the kitten thing, and especially mesmer builds who insist one a double melee sword setup but then instead of being in melee they are sitting out waiting for phantasm cooldowns because it turns out they can neither melee or won’t use iduelists/izerkers in situations where the boss would otherwise cleave the melee range phantasms to death immediately.

Seriously, it won’t kill you to use a kitten iduelist on abominations and ettins.

New precursors still be obtained using RNG?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Just be honest and say that you hate not being able to get ahead of others by spending your money.

I have never bought a pre or a legendary off the TP I have sold a few quite a few that I have gotten from the forge, but the point remains the same, if they require the same mats as the old ones people will dominate the market, if the MATs where only used for legendary’s that would be fine, but alas they are not, there are several things in game that need those MATs to craft, certain armor/weapons etc,

So from this update those people who do not care about legendary’s are going to get hammered by the TP prices for those MAT’s when they need them for the other gear they are crafting,

For me when Powerful Blood hits 1g each it will be great, but as this game is firmly designed for the causal player and not people like me who play more, they are going to get ruined by this update if they want anything nice.

I have no problem with Pre’s and Legendary’s made via the mastery system being account bound, but if it comes from a drop of forge it should be tradable.

From what I recall the mastery line for legendary precursors cost a lot of mastery points. So not only will they have to sink all those mastery points into the crafting, but they will still have to spend the experience and then do the various objectives as well. 3 stages worth. I will be surprised if people will really dedicate all their points so quickly to making a legendary? It will block all progress they can make in Maguuma while they are doing that. I really don’t think crafting mats will be affected that much especially with them coming from events in HoT. And precursors that drop or come from the mystic toilet have already been confirmed to still work as they do now.

Whoever gets there first decides the prices of new legendary’s. They will know the mats needed for the collections before anyone else and can buy every single one of those mats off the TP. I know I will be working 24/7 to get that mastery unlocked asap otherwise you won’t have a snowballs chance in hell of being able to afford a new legendary.

That’s just paranoia speaking. There will be people buying mats. There will be people selling mats. It always evens out in the end.

It evens out to the price the market decides… I paid a grand total of 20g for my first light armor ascended set because I got there first and bought all the silk I needed for 8c a scrap.

If you get there early enough you beat the market and you will come out ahead. But of course most people aren’t motivated enough or would rather just complain. I’m sure there will be 100 threads about how xxx is too expensive now, even though you could have bought it much cheaper if you wanted but you chose not to.

It might surprise you but most people play their games not to roleplay Wall Street stock exchange constantly monitoring prices on a trading post and would rather be awarded the materials by playing the game instead of the most efficient option always turning out to be the trading post.

But if you mistime your utilities you will be two shot by the cultists’ burst. Let’s not bring skills on the table and focus the fact that warrior is the best to take the hammer without the need of defensive utilities at all. If they go down they can always use vengeance to get back to the stack. So convenient!

I don’t even know where he came up with the retort that heavy armor doesn’t give health. Warrior comes with a free 6k health advantage, why is that something to be flippant about.

It’s as simple as stating that there’s a lesser risk of one class dying if blind fields run out early or the mobs aren’t cleaved fast enough and an autoattack gets through on the squishier classes. But clearly it’s a warrior witch hunt. Nevermind that by this point most of us have all classes at 80 and have dumped bucketloads of gold on putting them in ascended and tailoring them with appropriate skins, clearly I just want to destroy my warrior alt alongside all other warriors by making the simple statement that if you are in a pug and make the more fragile classes take the hammer when you are at full health, people are going to be annoyed.

Ok, yeah, I said, elementalist so weak. Totally right there. Nevermind the original post referred to mesmer and the subsequent one said 11k hp without specifying ele or thief. But ok, be defensive if it suits you.

You might want to revise the part as well about not only taking 15% reduced damage but having 6k more native hp than the ele. Are we really going to get into this argument of which class can better absorb burst?

Powernecro viable for solo ranked?

in Necromancer

Posted by: Zenith.7301

Zenith.7301

Necro has very long cd’s on healing and heals for very little. Prolonging a fight with toughness stats is virtually the last thing he wants to do, any class can outlast/attrition a necromancer.

It’s why necros go very offensive, once you don’t get the luxury of starting at a full life force bar and someone can reset the fight on you with low life force, you’re going to have a rough time.

It’s so amusing that Jonathan Sharp defined necro as an attrition class that’s got little mobility but can chase well and keep a target in combat when the reality is anyone can outsustain and outrun a necro lol.
